Help: Wifi issues - HTC One X

Im having issues on my htc one x, thing is it shows available wifi networks at some distance but it is unable to connect to any (it keeps scanning till for some reason wifi network dissapears until i turn wifi off and on again), only way to get a connection is standing right next or front to my router (>1 mt.) where it works just fine and get good network speed, but if for some reason cant get a connection thru walls or when something blocks direct view, i already tried soldering antenna conector trick posted but it didnt work, also installing a custom recovery and tried several custom roms but i get the same result. Any ideas?. thanks

Wi-Fi Issues.

Hi, I got the HTC desire during the week and all going great so far except issues with connecting to my Wi-fi at home.
On initial setup i had it scan for my wireless signal but had to manually enter it, network is not hidden. 3 laptops, PS3, PSP, DS all have been able to see it and connect in the past. Anyway, connected through WPA and was able to connect to the internet and market fine.
The issue is it keeps dropping the connection, signal bar stays as if connected but all pages timeout. turning the wireless on/off does not resolve, sometimes turning the power on/off will sort it, most times not. I drove to work last night, 25km and it said i was still connected to a network untill i disabled the wireless on the phone in the carpark !!
I have trawled the net and have come across known issues with other HTC devices and wireless networks but most of the fixes i tried have drawn a blank so far, bar hard reset.
Unsure if it is settings in my router or the phone. One thing i did notice is when it was connected and i went to the settings>wireless and networks it was smooth like the usual progs on the phone, but when i cant connect and go to the settings it is serious laggy.
BB is Eircom, netopia router.
Phone is Vodafone.
Any other info needed just ask, could do with a fix for this before i pull my hair out.
edit: downloaded a wifi analyzer app and it says my signal is very weak, even sitting on the router, it is either the router sending the wrong signal or the hardware on the phone i think.
Anyone have to chage their wireless settings on the router to get the desire to connect ? If so, to what ?
Update.
powered off my phone and ran the wifi analyser again, same thing, -98db.(red, no signal)
powered off the phone again, and was hitting -40db sitting on top of the router and ~ -70 2 rooms away(green/yellow) and internet pages were flying, this is what is happening, may stay for 10 mins and go again.
Another update:
I had a good connection so changed the sleep from 1 min to 30, checked the sig strenght every 15 mins, surfed a few pages and all fine. Changed the sleep back to 1 min, let it sleep, came back 5 mins later and wifi dead again. this leads me to taking the router out of the equation and phone based issue.
Wifi issues
Hiya,
I had exactly the same problem with my desire. It is on Orange UK and came withall their crud on it. I spent two days playing around with the router settings and phone settings. I could connect to the router but not use the internet. In the end I followed the links on here to erase the orange crud and install a generic rom. After that the phone connected to wifi internet and telephone internet and switches between them without any problems whatsoever. I did wonder if it was a ploy by the telecom provider to get you to use more of their online data rather than over wifi.

wifi lock app that works ?

Have a few WiFi networks around here and this SGS drops wifi for no reason, therefore how do I force the Galaxy S to stay connected to my preferred WiFi network, locking to it and staying lock even if a nearby WiFi is stronger ??
Still looking for a solution.
anyone?
Perhaps this thread is in the wrong section, so if a Mod wishes to move it, that's fine.
I have the opposite problem.. I put 2 routers to cover all my home with wifi (same ip).. And even if I'm at a room with 5bars from router A, and 2 bars from router B, the phone connects to router B!
Thats also a problem that I'm having.
If only there was a way to choose the wifi we want and stay locked to it, our problem would be solved.
I can't believe we are the only ones with this issue.
Any update from anyone ?

froyo wifi not working help plz

when i turn the wifi on it saids turning wifi on then error so restart phone and still dont work i tryed a diffrent froyo and still dont work and tryd to reinstall it any idea on how to fix it thank you
What Kernel are you using, and did you apply the wifi patch if you're using 2.6.25 kernel.
If you're using 2.6.32, did you apply the androidupdate file associated with the kernel?
Need more information...

Buy a wireless router and stop stealing your neighbour's bandwitch
Jokes aside, how far away are you from the wifi router?
I usually get two bars when I'm close to my router and by close I mean from 5cm to 3 meters. I rarely get the full signal...it probably could be improved by kernel/modules but the downside would be shorter battery life.
There are numerous reasons why you only have 1 bar for wifi. It could be interference with other wifi routers in the area, using a crowded channel, bad antenna.
But I doubt it's the wifi on the phone, unless the antenna for it is damaged...
Experiment, try different channels on your router to see if you get a stronger signal, move the router around the room, and check the antennas as well.
Hope this helps.
its not my thing it worked fine on fianl dark i got all the bars i went to froyo because i dont get the close error anymore and froyo is faster and dont lag when do you thing they will fix thr problem

[Q] problem with wifi after flashing to ARHD

hey guys i have a problem with my wifi after flashing to ARHD 5.2.6...
sometimes i'm able to use the wifi for awhile before stuffs stop moving/loading so i'm unable to use the internet even though it shows that i'm connected... the market keeps loading and downloads doesn't move... my laptop has no problem with the wifi at home...
during some other times it seems to be problem-free... i do not think it's the wifi in my home that has problems because i was able to use the wifi at home w/o problem before flashing to ARHD...
this problem happened to me too when i used the wifi in my school... however, when i moved to another area in school, i was able to use the wifi there... the signal in both areas were great, laptops were able to use wifi in both areas without any hiccups...
please note that i had no problems with any wifi i was connected to before i flashed to ARHD...

Wifi network not found

Hi.
Since a few weeks I have a strange problem with my Wifi connection.
When I'm at home and turn on Wifi everything works fine for some time and my M9 connects to my Wifi. But after some time (haven't found a rule, sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 5 hours, etc) the wifi connection is lost and my network is no longer listed in the list of available networks. It also seems like the list of available networks is getting shorter the longer wifi is turned on.
If I turn of wifi and turn it on again after a few seconds my network is found immediately and the phone connects without any problems.
I'm not 100 percent sure but bluetooth seems to have almost the same problem and the phone no longer connects to my smartwatch until i turn off and on bluetooth. Sometimes it is also ok to turn off and on bluetooth to get my wifi back running.
The problem started to exist on lollipop and is also present on mm. I already did a factory reset but it didn't seem to help.
Anyone experiencing the same problem or has any clue what it could be? Maybe a hardware problem?
Kind regards,
TeQuiLLaXY
Perhaps a router problem ?? Or a service provider issue with WIFI ?
Does the device connect with other WIFI signals other than your primary signal ?
Just a few other areas to check beyond the device that can be overlooked...g

Hi gregsarg, thankfs for your reply.
The router doesn't seems to have a problem since other devices have no problem to connect to it. Service provider has nothing to do with wifi, the phone is not connecting to the wifi it has no problems accessing the internet via wifi when it shows it's connected. Also the connection can be established as soon as i disable and reenable wifi on my phone for about a second.
I don't have access to the other networks that are around my home so I can't check if it connects to other networks, it's just strange that the device does not show my network in the list of available networks after it has lost connection. If I disable and reenable wifi on the phone it immediately shows my wifi in the list of available networks. SSID is not hidden...
Could be hardware related...
And you could RUU back to stock and test again to rule out a software issue...g
