Can anyone stream mp3 from online sources, Example tfnn.mobi source http://66.135.49.104/stdin.mp3
Odd that it doesn't work in any browser, chrome of stock, not even VLC or Google Play. I have Tmobile and other tmobile phone and it works just fine.
Let me know anyone.
Just tried it with dolphin browser. Played OK through stock music app.

Just checked. Works both on WiFi and network. Takes a few seconds to connect but otherwise no issue.

Anyone successfully played a 720/1080p file over their network?
Ive tried all the players but just seems to stutter like crazy!
Used to use diceplayer on my HOX with the dts plugin and had no probs.
Anyone got a player/settings thats working?

VLC Direct
When you say playing over the network you mean accessing the share via dice or play stream via upnp?
I assume you mean the first. I too use dice with plugin and noticed indeed reltively frequent stuttering when acessing share from dice but using buble upnp all is fine against an xbmc server without any transcoding and dice so that is what I use and it is fine for me.
Also compared to gtab 7.7 less powerful HW I noticed wifi on note2 to be more sensible; I mean if I watch mkv covering fully the device with my palm I get problem. Of course cant really do that with the 7.7
So other than that all is quite fine on my side. I really do suspect though accessing cifs gives bad throughput somehow. I use omega 3 and cifs.ko copying stuff from a share is abnormally skow for me.

Use es file explorer and play through stock player.

Actually tried playing though the bsplayer app itself and its much improved although its struggling with 1080p
Will give your tips a try, thanks

So my basic problem is that I have a lot of media on my home desktop. It's a home built machine that has no sounds and runs windows xp
I have no problem streaming video over wifi. Everything works absolutely fine that way.
What I want to know is how to open media that's on my computer from a remote location (using a separate wifi network)
I'm currently using team viewer for remote access and it works for many things but it doesn't allow me to stream video to my phone. It allows me to play video on my computer and to view it but this is useless without sound
I'm considering trying to make a vpn but I'm not very computer literate.
Any suggestions?

No such thing has been done yet to my understanding, you can only stream over a WI-FI network so far

I think I might have found a solution and I feel sort of like an idiot. I'll test it out tonight and see if it works.

splashtop remote transmits sound
I'm trying the emit app it seems to work but I'll have to try it at work. As I said I feel dumb finding this a few hours after posting
I do seem to experience a lot of lag on videos so I guess that's my next problem to fix.

Emit works fine over the net (both on my own wifi and using my cell phones Ltd or other computers on different networks)
However lag when using it over cell broadcast is pretty bad and I'm trying to find a way to improve it

Not exactly sure how to get an N4 to play media that I'm viewing on my GN2... any ideas? Tried WiFi direct, allshare doesn't seem to work cause N4 isn't Samsung... am I missing something? Imediashare?

Bluetooth?
You need the two phones to be connected to a router for the dlna to work.
Another way to get it working is with streaming through internet apps (Skifta comes to mind). Works similarly to allshare which shares your media through the internet. The reliability is poor at best for Skifta.
Workaround is to use Wi-Fi direct and transfer the video over to the N4.

Hello all, I have recently been trying to stream media to my note 2 via some sort of cloud storage. I have been looking for a way to use my phone to play movies I have stored on Cloud Data such as Dropbox. Dropbox does not allow you to stream data past a certain size so I cannot play any file that is longer than a couple minutes. I would like to stream this data to both my note 2 as well as Transformer infinity. Can anybody help me with a cloud storage that supports streaming? Or even better perhaps an app that will allow me to stream this data.

Thanked and thanks I will try it out ASAP. Does this work with streaming video? Because I'm mostly looking for a way to stream video?
Have a great day everybody!

I use Plex. I know it's not cloud storage, but it works too well not to mention. You install Plex on your PC and point to your videos, music or photos. Then install Plex on your phone and you can now stream everything. Clean user interface and great support.
Will try it thanks!

there's plex.
also i use bubble upnphttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp
quote from their description.. "UPnP Media Server: play your local phone/tablet media to other devices or to your Android device (standalone media player). Browse and play your local phone/tablet media from other devices (PS3, WMP, ...). Able to browse the SD Card. Google Music and Dropbox streaming supported"
Avia supports streaming directly from dropbox, although admittedly I haven't uploaded and entire movies just home videos. Also RealPlayer Cloud and Google Photos will let you stream. I have been using google photos and with the new pricing plan you can get all your movies on the cloud pretty cheap. The best way in my opinion is to hook up a hard drive to your router and stream from there using any UPnP app.
Is it possible to use Chromecast on our GPro? I plan to use it to play video from MX PLayer and view it on TV.
Also, if it is possible, what are the things needed to set up the connection?
1. My GPro installed with MX player and Chromecast app
2. Chromecast, plugged to TV?
3. Wifi modem
4. TV with HDmi input
Am I missing anything else? Like a cable or something?

Chromecast works for pretty much any Android or iOS device and PCs. MX Player will not work unless there's something new I'm not aware of. Right now it only works for YouTube, Google Play content, Netflix, Hulu (I think) and Chrome browser on PC will cast anything you can play in the web browser. Pr0n and all that lol.
Just plug the Chromecast into your HDMI port connect the power and setup here. The chromecast app just enables chromecast specific functions in the apps mentioned above. Not sure when we'll be able to play our own content. They say eventually. We'll see. I love mine I have 2 one in my bedroom and one in the living room. It also comes with everything you need.
It works

That's good to hear. Sounds pretty cool though. Unfortunately viewing own content is my main concern using the device. Finding a cable here is quite difficult. They are all MHL to HDMi.
