Hi folks,
I read a lot of stuff but still im not sure what to do.
I rootet my z1 on 4.3 and i am very happy with it.
Is there a way to upgrade to 4.4 or 5.x WITHOUT Loosing my Data und installing and configuring the hole phone again and last but not least keep Root?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for giving me the missing tile to my puzzle.

Hi, I know there are many forums regarding this issue.. but I am a complete noob. I managed to root my phone once and install stock rom.. since then my count in download mode always shows as 2 and even though it says official in download mode.. inside android it still shows modified and i cannot do OTA.. i have 4.3 stock firmware Hong Kong on N7105 installed using Odin 3.04.
I have 2 questions. is there a complete noob friendly guide on how to do a full reset? meaning everything back the way it was so then I can do OTA again?!
second question.. whats the most stable rom if i cannot do OTA.. i dont like all the samsung bloatware and reading multiple threads i always find problems people are having with different mods. I want one that removes the bloatware and just works stable and super fast. i dont care too much about customizations and mods. is CM mod good for this? I looked into the thread and have no idea how to install it.
sorry for noob questions. any help will be appreciated.
thx

Most stable? It's hard to assess. I had CM 10.2 on my note it's clean of samsung bloatware and it's pretty fast without any problem. I changed from it because i love air gestures on 4.3 ROM. Next I had Dr. ketan's rom V6 but it wasn't bad but someone of apps just got crashes without any reason. Now i've got PheonixRom it's really fast and i don't have any crashes on it. Someone of bloatware you can delete in aroma installer then after flashing you can do it by TitaniumBackup.
Regards
thanks!! do you know if there is any way to remove the bloatware from the official rom? and leave everything else the way it is?
Well if you have root it can be deleted probably by TitaniumBackup

Hello,
I have NOT yet upgraded from 4.3 (SONY'S STOCK ROM) to 4.4 (or w/e latest one before 4.4.4 - which is the latest).
I was about to install 4.4 but I checked the forums for peoples' opinions and found that it battery drain problems. So, even though my phone has downloaded the update since 3 months now, I have not yet installed it yet.
NOW, my question is, since there's 4.4.4 out, should I upgrade to that from 4.3 (SONY'S STOCK ROM)?
I have to install 4.4 (or 4.4.2 w/e it is) first then 4.4.4
Thanks.
You can upgrade from all of that

Thanks for the reply, BUT, IS IT WORTH UPGRADING FOR?
Is there any better performance of phone, apps, camera? Thanks.
Hi.
If I was in your shoes I'd upgrade, but there is some space to personal choice here.
Some still say 4.3 was the best Stock ROM to ZL, but perhaps 4.4.4 is working even colder and faster, specially when you do the full upgrade (back up everything + factory reset + full repair with PC Companion).
Perhaps you also wish to read the following short thread:

Hi everyone,
As an android user without a lot of experience regarding flashing custom roms, i'd like to be sure that i won't mess my device up.
I'd like to downgrade my Nexus 5 woth stock rooted 5.0.1 to PA 4.4.4. Do i need to do something special besides wiping my device completely?
Thanks in advance and sorry if my English isn't good, i'm a native Dutch speaker...

Hey guys!
So I have my Xperia M currently running on stock firmware 4.3. Although I am happy with the current firmware with the exception of the low internal storage problem but everything needs to be updated regularly
I joined XDA for the very reason so as to flash a custom ROM for my XM but trust me when I say that you are dealing with a complete noob who is just lost in all the jargon associated with flashing a custom ROM. It means that I will be in need of a detailed guide to help me boot my very first custom firmware :3
Here are some details -
Running stock 4.3 firmware
XM single sim
Bootloader can be unlocked (Need a tutorial to unlock bootloader too)
Device not rooted.
Can anybody help me with this? I'll be happy to read out any existing tutorial threads as such
I was also worried about the storgae limitation within the XM, anyway to bypass it by installing CM12? Also what process do you follow when you take a backup of your device while installing a new firmware?
I am just looking for a stable and beautiful firmware for my aging XM :fingers-crossed:
Thank you for reading!

Yeah it's better than not being able to experience Lollipop on XM
How's your experience with the new CM12?
Lollipop being the number one thing, the second is the battery life:

Hello everyone!
I always wanted to get clean Android on my P6, I now it is possible, I saw some AOSP roms, and Paranoid or omni is also looking very good.
The only problem is: there are a lot of tutorials, but they are all written for B506, and I am on B512. I never unlocked, rooted or flashed my phone before, so I dont know how to get started. Do someone want to help me? (If this community still is alive )
Current situation: 100% default P6U06 running B512, no root, no unlock etc.
Thanks in advance!
