My son and his friend decided to experiment with their phones. The result is that now his P6 is stuck on Huawei Ascend screen.
Fastboot can't see the device, can't access recovery using the power and down button, all I get is the Huawei Ascend screen. And windows device manager don't see the phone when plugged in using usb.
ADB drivers are installed as it picks my phone up when connected.
Can anyone help get this back?

So, I use pwr and vol down button, Huawei Ascend logo comes on and stays on. Read in forum that this is in bootloader.
I open fastboot and type fastboot device. it then comes up with waiting for device and goes no further.
Any advice on how to get fastboot to detect the phone. I don't think I will be able to flash recovery without this
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a jellybean firmware
http://dl.huaweinews.com/Roms/Ascend-P6/B132.zip
If it fails you probably had kitkat on the phone and you need to flash a kk one, you can find links on the forum.

And now when i see the screens that you posted i realise that you can use the fastboot commands. When adb reboot bootloader doesnt work and on fastboot reboot it says waiting for device that means that you are already set up and you can start flashing. So try getting the device list from fastboot (fastboot devices). If it shows up the device you are good to go.

my phone now gets very warm when its not even running. its making me think that the mainboard might be damage.

Another thing, making me wonder, is that this screen appears, after just hitting the power button - it's not necessarry to kepp VOL Down pressed...
Hopefully someone can help me out of this,
Thanks in advance,

Setup adb/fastboot.
Download the 4ext recovery img:
http://www.4ext.net/ddl/bravo/recovery.zip (extract the zip), and put it in the platform-tools folder of where your android sdk is.
Boot the phone into fastboot (hold power and back), then use this command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Once your in recovery do a full wipe and flash a ROM.

It needs to be recognized by fastboot not adb. Download and install HTC sync then uninstall it leaving only the drivers behind. Also install these: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
Then boot the phone into fastboot mode (power and back) and run "fastboot devices" to see if it's recognized. If it is follow the instructions in my first post.

Yeah, it's working, thanks a lot!
I tried to boot with "back + Power" several times.... but without USB connected...
EDIT: No, it wasn't regarding USB...
This only works from time to time, more less then more.. (hopefully you know what I mean)
Okay, now I have a way to get into the recovery, a big step forward!!
What now?
I'd like to "install" this recovery now, as I did before on my HD2 in the past but this is far long ago, so sorry for this stupid question:
How to replace the actual existing Recovery with the booted 4ext one?
On 4ext.net I found a way with a booted rom, but without...
Later on, I'd like to flash CyanogenMod 7, so I already downloaded the suggested PB99img_cm7r2.zip.
I remember this has s.th. to do regarding partitioning, right? What do I have to do with this file?
Can I flash this with fastboot ?
During usual bootloader startup it says "No image or wrong size"
AS you may see, I know a little, but it's damned long ago...
Sorry for my worse english, but I don't know how to describe this better
Hopefully you can help me anyway,
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Use "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" to fully install the recovery. Rename the hboot(partition) file you downloaded to "PB99IMG.zip" and put it on the root of your SD card. Boot the phone into hboot and it will search for the file. When it finds it select yes to install it then reboot.
Go into recovery and wipe everything except the SD card then flash the ROM.

Any alternative way to enter fastboot mode?

I know and this worked yesterday, but it started with problems, as mentioned above.
Today I never had access..
Good day,
sorry for going direct to the point but, i'm having trouble with my ze551ml, as it was not yet available in my country a few months back, i bought it online, and it seems the original firmware was CN, and it was just converted to WW before it was shipped to me, as i bought it via CC, i didn't return it to the online store. now the problem is that, i want to update the software but it always fails, even if i did manual update.
Device info:
-device is rooted(it was rooted already when i got it
Build number:
LRX21V.WW-ASUS_Z00A-2.13.40.13_20150401_8390_user
044030427_201501060109

Baseband Version
1509_5.0.18.00_0320,1509_7.0.10.0_0320
CPU-Z
also wondering, this was supposed to be a 64 bit phone right? but in the cpu-z it says
Processor: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU Z3560 1.83GHz
Cores: 4
Architecture: x86
CPUID: 6.5a.0
Codename: Moorfield
Process: 22 nm
P.S: is it possible to update if i flash the latest firmware?
BTW: Are these info safe to share?? Thanks
Yeah it's OK to share, you fail to update in recovery right? but you get the ota notification right? To me it looks like your build version is too old and it fails to update since newer updates require newer recoveries. Does ADB sideload fails too?
sorry can't understand much
ota doesn't see new updates, haven't tried adb, current computer has no android sdk installed, hopefully answered everything? but will install it now, also will finish latest stock rom in a minute
BTW: i'm willing to lose all data just to fix this problem

You have to try with adb, go in the recovery and you should see the adb sideload option, press it and connect to the PC, now download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/zen...l-windroid-universal-android-toolkit-t3206907 and go to command section and the sideload file. Now choose the lastest update available on asus site http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE551ML/UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.168-user.zip (here is a direct link), now your update should start it will take a long time so don't unplug the usb!!

Here is what i think, the guy who sold your phone have put the wrong recovery in your phone, by flashing the files i give you(in my good will i thought the recovery was the same as firmware version) you bricked the bootloader, to fix this you must perform the guide i give you (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-brick-soft-hard-bricked-zenfone-2-t3284256), so i suggest you to do is backup all your internal storage to PC, backup everything you might need and do that operation when you have time, then you can update OTA

When on bootloader/fastboot mode, type
fastboot devices
to check connection
if it returns your device serial no, then it is good for you to

You have a newer sets of drivers installed and the installer exits instead of downgrade the version.
Are you sure you are in fastboot mode?
To enter this.
Power off your phone.
Hold Power and volume down button until phone enters a white screen with Hboot written on it.

Now press power button again. The screen should now change to this
Showing fastboot marked in red.
Go to device manager and look for the driver. It should look like this ( Android USB Devices, My HTC)
In cmd type fastboot devices.
My cmd returns this.

It was my thought at first. So now we know that htc apparently dropped the support for one x and older devices in their driver pack. Good to know
Now i need to take a look at how i can push a diff rom in there since the other rom apparently wont work..

Making a new layout is something i missed, Mone said ;
Flashing instruction like usual: perform a full wipe with TWRP for new layout, flash the ROM, flash the suggested GApps, reboot into fastboot mode, flash the boot.img exctracted from the ROM.zip, reboot into system, enjoy cm-12.1.
So i wiped the damn thing( ) after making a backup offcourse(which btw doesn't help cuz its screwed...). But i completely missed that i had to make a new layout... But stil i am convinced it can be "unbricked" one way or another.
I basicly follwed all the steps mentioned in this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 and it al worked up to the point i flashed the wrong kernel. After that i searched the forum for hours and found some things which could be connected but with a total different view of what my problem is/was(partially solved with your help) and ended up with putting a SOS sign up for help.
Vol up/down + USB cable doesn't work, and I read one post that says the deep flash cable doesn't work either. Bootloader is locked.
I have the full body ceramic version, so there aren't any disassembly directions available so I could take it apart and ground the EDL points...
Current ROM is just boot looping, wiping data doesn't help, and only ROM I seem to be able to flash is the same one (latest global beta).... Just want to downgrade back to global stable.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Can't you boot to fastboot? What's the error when you attempt to flash anything else? Can you access TWRP?
I have done it a few times, there is some key combination I used but can't remember what it was

Edit: okay... yes, I got it into fastboot mode now. Don't know what I struggled with that key combo so much.
What can I actually do from here to reflash, since bootloader is locked?

Just flash MIUI from there then, it should work provided that you unlocked the bootloader.

This would be easy if bootloader wasn't locked, I know.
Should be able to use MiFlash tool? And download a fastboot flash rom from xiaomi website

Yes. When you start it from recovery, it says it needs ADB, and reboots the phone to OS (which bootloops - no way to activate ADB in OS).
Edit: Same with starting XiaomiTool when in FastBoot - it needs ADB enabled from the OS....
Hello, hello! Here's the link how to disassemble mix2:
1obzor.com/news/razborka-xiaomi-mi-mix-2.html
after opening here is the instruction on how to enter EDL mode:
en.miui.com/thread-1351514-1-1.html
links without the htts: // prefix
since I'm a new member
This was happened to my xiaomi Max.
i tried using fastboot to boot into EDL, it didnt work.
using fastboot-edl -> reboot.bat, it show success message but actually my phone only restarted and stuck in "Mi" Logo.
what i did to boot into EDL are :
- While phone still connected to pc and phone in fastboot mode i try to hold the power button
- After the screen blinked (it restarted), i pressed both vol + and vol - and after i hear a plug in sound in my PC Windows i release the power button
- Then the screen will stay Blank (With background light) but after i refresh MiFlash application, it will detected as COM20 or something.
- Then i do flashing and it works!
Hope it will help to solve your problem
To enter EDL on mix 2 without disassembling. Boot the phone into bootloader then you type "fastboot oem edl" on your computer then you can flash the phone normally with mi flash tool. Hope this suggestion can help!
the miui version cant be installed on this device

I am an idiot i have self inflicted this issue. I flashed from 8.11.8 to 10.0.0.1 i mistake clicked flash and lock.bat now the device is locked and will not boot. Got deep flash cable but not able to switch off the device to get into 9008 mode. please someone direct me. I am getting frustrated and loosing hope. Cannot boot into edl as bootloader locked. cannot recovery as I have no twrp. cannot unlock as device is not bound to account. cannot debug mode as device will not boot to OS. I have truly made my life complicated not purposely. cannot shutdown the device to get into Deep flash mode
Thank you people, apologies for wasting your time.
Same situation.. still trying to find a way to get out of this. But i can help you somehow as i figured out how u can switch off the phone.
1. Copy and rename any file to twrp.img and save it in a folder
2. Open cmd and change directory to where u saved the twrp.img file
3.Just boot into fastboot and type this command
fastboot boot twrp.img
It will try to push this to your phone ane eventually fail. You will get a message on your phone saying "system destroyed and press power button to switch off"
Thats how i switch it off each time lol

Same here but intentionally lock it for resale purposes. Did not know it would brick. But the trick to switch it off still work.
Btw, Me too i don't want to open the back cover but it seems the only solution. I have already ordered my prying tools.

thats who helped me and it was quick and painless. you do have to take the back cover off and the silver plate. touch the 2 bottom pins, first 2 on bottom row and plug in usb cable. phone has to be off. just unplug the battery and back in. phone is back but now have to wait 360 hours to unlock bootloader. oh well
I had installed in this phone a custom rom a few months back for my friend. Yesterday he told me that the device froze when he was browsing the phone gallery app, and a few minutes later the phone rebooted and couldn't pass the mi logo (so the system wasn't loading I guessed, because the logo of the ROM wasn't showing). I tried to enter TWRP, but even there the phone would get stuck on the TWRP splash page and rebooted back to the MI logo. So I tried to reinstall TWRP (I have still access to fastboot mode) and, after, a newer version, but the problem was the same. I tried booting a recovery image without installing it (fastboot boot twrp.img) and the problem was similar, but instead of rebooting to the MI logo, the phone would get stuck on the TWRP logo. I tried with OrangeFox recovery too, but same problem. I read in another post that it may be a problem with the /data partition, so I (fastboot erase userdata) and tried again the above recovery installation, but it didn't work. I, then, tried to wipe all partion via fastboot, and tried the command "fastboot erase system -w", but it didn't work either. So I tried the way to restore the phone with MiFlash tool, I found the firmware I needed, I flashed it, and after ~4s it gave me the error "failed to write partiton" (see image).

I tried with another firmware (this time based on Oreo instead of Nougat), same error. I searched a solution for this error, but I found nothing helpful. Now I have the phone working (=it can power on) and can access to fastboot, but don't know what to do. Can someone out there, with maybe a clearer idea of what's going on, help me? Thanks in advance
Update:
I found out that the problem is flashing this file "gpt_both0.bin" (which is the partition table). Every firmware that I tried failed to flash when trying to fastboot this file. So I tried to remove the line (
Code:
fastboot %* flash partition "%~dp0images\gpt_both0.bin" || @echo "Flash tz error" && exit /B 1
) from the flash_all.bat and everything was flashed without errors, but the phone won't start, so this file is necessary. Flashing it separately gave me the same error (failed to write partition). So, I ask again for help, hoping that someone will come to save me

Yes, my phone goes into fastboot. The name QHSBULK 9008 sounds like the phone goes in edl mode. I'm not sure, but searching around I found out it's the name of the phone when it's recognised as by it's qualcomm drivers, or something similar

Only (hardware) method possible is to hold the power button and the volume down(-) button simultaneously and wait for the fastboot screen/logo

Already tried, and it gave me the same error. I really hope it's not a motherboard issue, because a replacement is not worth it. Thanks anyway
