My dad's galaxy nexus (sprint) has been having problems lately. It crashes after the boot animation is finished unless it's plugged in, and it boots up fine when it's plugged in. But if you unplug it will stay on for a bit and then randomly shut off. It was left in a hot car before it started doing this, so I don't know if it's the battery or if something internal was damaged by heat.
edit: So I disabled the cell radio and it seems it's not crashing anymore, i can reboot without it being plugged in... but it crashes when i take a few pictures... hmm.
Weird. I think you have to repair your phone because the camera, radio, and charging port are all internal parts of the phone. There is some kind of link between all these parts which is making the device crash.

I have a Telstra Desire. Had it a few weeks now, been fine.
Last few days it has started freezing when plugged into the USB on my laptop.
When it happens it totally freezes. When I unplug it the charge light stays on and everything is totally frozen. Only way to get it back is a battery pull.
It seems random and can happen within a minute or hours of plugging in.
Has done it in charge only and also hard disk mode. I have tried rooting and installing a new ROM (latest T-Mod) and it still does it. I'm using the SD card supplied.
Happens with no extra apps installed.
Anyone else had this problem ? any ideas ?
Bumping This as i also have a telstra desire and this issue has started to occur.
It was happening with mine but I figured out that it was because I was using an aftermarket charger. Once I switched back the original one I no longer had the issue
Hi there, my Verizon Galaxy Nexus is giving me trouble.
Several weeks ago, a glass of water was spilled on it. I quickly removed the case and battery, wiped it off and set them somewhere dry. A week later, when I tried to turn it on, it almost booted right before turning back off. I tried the usual (battery pull, holding down volume buttons), it wouldn't turn on at all. Another week passes, and it boots. The camera app didn't work at first (force close upon opening), but a week or so later it started again, works fine and takes clear pictures.
My problem is that the USB port isn't detecting properly on my computer. I've replaced the USB port, and that didn't solve it. The old one also would not properly recognize when it became unplugged. Windows, however, does not show anything in My Computer or in Device Manager, no hardware detected sound or anything. My phone doesn't do anything either, nothing in the notification area (charges normally, however). ADB does not work while booted, only in recovery. Fastboot does work. How should I proceed? Thanks.
New phone.
hello! XDA. i recently bought an used sprint galaxy nexus. that came with android 4.2.1 stock. tha day i bught it i downloaded 4 apps (duolingo,templetun2,subway surfers and hilli climb racing) so i play these gams few minutes and when battery charge was low i plugged the charger but when i did it the games was running very laggy and after few secound the phone just freezes and reboot but when the SO started it get freezed again and it continuous happening like 10 times until i decided to take out the battery. so i put the battery and turn on the phone but happends the same, it just freeze. so i turned off the phone and go to sleep.
the next moorning the phone turn on good. but this time when i plugged the charger the phone reconize it good and get full charge. but when i decided to usb connect happens the same ,the phone freezes and all the reboot history i told you... but i unpluged and plug the usb cable many times and one of these my pc reconized the phone as a storage device and was charging it i tested 3 different cables and charging blocks.
when the phone freeze it becomes very hot on the top of it both camera and screen side.
after the many reboots the apps, didnt make any sounds neither my musics but when i go to settings/sounds and select the default ringtones they sounds good.
i get the conclusion that was a software or somthing like kernel issue so i unlock/root/ my phone and installed aokp jb-mr1 build 6. but bitter was my surpise when i saw the same usn/chargin issue goin on.:crying::crying::crying::crying:.
My conclusion is: for a reason i dont know .the usb and charger port its works random like 0.01% probability i plugg the cable.
another thing: i dont know if will work. when iplug the phone without the baterry in my laptop it shows a omap4440 on device manager and pop ups every secound.
so i heard XDA forum its one of the best places for help with android devices. i hope you can help me
.
Anyone???
I have an odd problem with my phone.
All of a sudden the phone would automatically shut down and reboot when it's not plugged into a charger.
IF FROM BEING POWERED OFF
It shows the LG logo, stays there then shuts down and reboots to do the same thing over and over again.
IF POWERED ON THEN CHARGER REMOVED
it will stay on for a random amount of time, but not more than a minute. it will function properly for awhile then shut down, reboot and do the same thing as above.
IF WHILE BEING CHARGED
it works normally. i can do anything on the phone like theres no problem.
even stranger:
i did a factory reset, and it did so without a problem. when it finally rebooted and it shows the first few options (language and accessibility) when setting up the phone, it stays on for a long time - as soon as i touch the screen though it powers off and reboots again. i was able to set things up again while the phone was plugged in.
now i cant use it without the phone being charged.
*additional note:
it may be related but this started the other day when i went out for my daily jogging routine. I usually keep it in my front shorts pocket while i listen to music. about 40 minutes in and i realized my music stopped - when i checked the phone it rebooted by itself. maybe it got wet by a bit? when i took it out of my pocket it was pretty dry though - it wasnt like it was dunked in a glass of water or anything.
I checked online and some have reported having the same problem and changing batteries worked. i just dont want to waste money on something that might not even fix the phone.
You need a new battery i believe, had a problem like that with a family members G3 - battery replaced, fixed - otherwise it would turn off randomly/when doing anything that is considered intensive (touching the screen counts)

just saw your reply now, thanks for taking the time to reply.
i did a lot of research when the problem arose, tried factory resetting, switching roms (to stock and custom) and nothing worked - asked around and it seems it WAS the battery all along. now it works perfectly and it lasts much longer than before.

Hey, I had exactly the same problem. Did everything but no use. Then i changed the battery and voila no restarts or power shut down since 4 days.
Hi. I've got a SMT700 that I purchased new and have used for several years with only minor troubles(Having to reconnect the battery occaisonally) and recently I had a new issue come up I've no idea how to fix. My knowledge on this stuff has extremely large holes in it, so I may have missed something obvious. I've been poking around all week trying to figure it out to no avail.
Anyway, the issue: My daughter was using the tablet and it became unresponsive. I popped the back off and fixed the battery cable(It had come out) and after doing so it flat out refused to turn on. Wouldn't boot in recovery or anything else I could think of. So I plugged it in overnight and let it charge just to make sure, since I wasn't sure if it had had much of one when it turned off. Will not turn on. If you push the power button while it's plugged in, the status of the charge(Says 100%) will blank out and then it resets like I just plugged it in. I've found that if I try to boot it in Recovery, it will come up just fine - if I unplug it, it turns off instantly. If I reset it, it turns off and goes back to the charge status screen as if I just plugged it in. It just has the Samsung firmware installed, I believe fully updated(I rarely check it since the tablet is old and it's literally just used for Disney+ for the kid lately) I'm at loss for what could it causing it or what I can do to fix it. Anyone seen this and able to point me in the right direction? Thanks for your time.
Oh. And I have tried plugging it into the computer, but it doesn't even register as plugged in(Can't do recovery or anything) - that didn't really surprise me, it wouldn't charge that way before so I didn't think it would work.
