Problems with rooted Tab S - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Rooted tablet with Odin 3 v3.10.6.
Changed few lines in build.prop file
ro.product model = SM-N900
ro.build.characteristics = phone
ro.product.device = hlte
ro.build.product = hlte
After that Settings of the tablet didn't load up just gave, unfortunately settings has stopped error, bluetooth didn't work as well.
Would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Just change it back or replace it with the backup that was made.

Build Prop for ROM: 2.17.1900.1 Possible Clue? Please Look.

Greets all, I just rooted my HOX that was returned to me, and I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. So I decided to look at the build prop just to be curious, and the Bold section caught my eye.
Again I am just trying to help, it maybe something, it maybe nothing, but This rom is really starting to look a bit odd with some of the things in the build prop.

Again, this is untouched, unmodified build prop to the ROM: 2.17.1900.1 they installed back onto my Unbranded International HOX after they repaired it.
The Main Key here is, My HOX is an International Quad Core, not a US version, on top of this it has a CID of HTC__001, it has an HBoot version of 1.12, it was sent to a US repair center in Houston Texas for repair, they "Locked" my bootloader, and installed this rom on my phone, could this be a clue on possibly not needing "S-OFF" to flash roms from another region?
I'm still sure it's an internal build going by this bit...
ro.aa.maincid=HTC__***
ro.aa.cidlist=HTC__***,HTCCN***
but it would seem that no one really cares! Perhaps PM some Devs and see what they think?...
What the actual CID of your device?
That's interesting. I wonder if we could cook RUUs with that CID and flash them on any device?
Maybe that's a 'generic development ROM' like that has been mentioned in the Jelly Bean updates articles.
All that I can tell is that this is an internal R&D build, nothing S-OFF related. The bolded bits are just generated when the rom is being built according to the given parameters.

As I said in the OP HTC__001
And thats what I was trying to possibly get at, being that its showing *** instead of actual CIDS, I was leaning in my way of thought if this might be another way considering HTC did it maybe we could learn a new way of flashing roms without the need for S-Off.

I wasnt looking for a possible S-Off way. It was already suspected that its a R&D rom, but as I said in my previous reply above, could this shed light on flashing roms from different regions without the need to S-Off?
It's just a generic Rom that's all I should think, saves them messing around with countless variations. It won't help with what your thinking anyway.
Does your bootloader say "LOCKED" or "RELOCKED"?

Yes but I was thinking that if its a generic rom, then in some way we could inject that generic info into a zip rom and possibly achieve the same thing and bypass the region check.

Before I sent it in it said unlocked, they fixed the screen and repaired the phone because it wouldnt turn on when they sent it back. When I finally got it back, the bootloader said "LOCKED" NOT "RELOCKED". And I still dont know what region it was from, other then I know the three programs on there that isnt on the rom 2.17.401.2 were chinese apps, but last I found x.xx.1400.x is china, so what region 1900 is for I still dont know.

Does sound quite interesting with it saying "locked" and not "relocked"
Sent from my RENOVATED One X..
Indeed it does. Is it the same phone though, or have they replaced it with a different unit?
Do you have the IMEI of the original phone?
They might have swapped motherboards, or HTC could possibly have a method to relock the bootloader such that the bootloader acts as though it was never unlocked in the first place.

To the best of my knowledge its the same phone. But that was one of the things I asked in the main post, could HTC have replaced the Mobo, or the phone, and changed the IMEI and Serial Number to match my original? Because the serial is exactly the sme as when i sent it in. And I would think that HTC would have the capability to "Lock" a phone back to original then we can.
My curiosity is how they flashed a rom that doesnt even belong to my CID. And before anyone asks, I already re-flashed two roms after unlocking the bootloader and adding CWR. I flashed rom 2.17.401.2 by RUU (Relocked the bootloader for this), and now flashed mike's Revolution rom 1.29.401.11 so that I could restore my phone back to see what was on there.
But i'm more puzzled by a rom thats to the best of my knowledge not meant to flash based on my cid, and that build prop just puzzled me.
The only thing i can suggest is they some how completely wiped/formatted all your hboot/bootloader etc, i dont even know if it's possible, and it's not the ROM what isnt compatible, its the hboot/firmware, so they could of installed the ROM then wiped/formatted your hboot/bootloader, "IF" this is possible.
Just a suggesion
Well if you look at the attachment in the OP the Hboot was 1.12 which falls in line with ICS. And the attchment in the OP shows the bootloader screen, this was unchanged and exactly the same as my Black HOX which is also CID HTC__001. Both my white and black are from the same region: UK.

It is perfectly possible to rewrite the imei and serial number of the phone. Most manufacturers have their own service tools to do that. As for flashing a ROM with a different cid, I would guess that HTC has their own service flashing tool like Samsung and their Odin program which would allow technicians to disable cid checking. That, or the phone's bootloader is hardcoded to accept this particular r&d cid. All this is just a guess, of course.

hello, I'm also having this problem, but I never changed csc.
little details: came from a branded carrier phone, then unlocked with galaxsim app. I use a XEF rom and I want to have a XEF CSC.

[Q] Please Help a Noob out

Hi,
I attempted to put a stock rom back on the phone and then re-root.
I found a link for the stock rom whick matched my Build number and using ODIN it successfully installed.
Main issue I had previous was that I could not load into the Android recovery screen which I now can do.
When the phone booted up I was very surprised to see a "Orange mobile" splash screen and also the addition of loads of Orange Apps? Which I've now disabled. Could be A French ROM?
How can I get a Stock rom without any Mobile operator Bloatware and get rid of that Splash screen?
I don't understand most of the details related to my model number but it appears they have changed slightly.
Here's the list;
Model no. GT-N7100
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version N7100BVDMF2
Kernel version 3.031-107214 [email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun1 12.22.20 KST 2013
Build number JZ054K.N7100XXDMF1
I have also downloaded the Samsung galaxy note2 toolkit but cannot find my model numbers as it's not shown within the ranges.
Build numbers available between DMA3 - DMC1. does that make a difference.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
If you want an unbranded stock Rom for your region, go to sammobile.com and grab the latest firmware for the n7100, region code united kingdom btu. The btu bit denotes its unbranded and for the UK.

Thanks, I found it virtually straight away after creating my post last night.(as they say ,the informations out there, you just gotta know where to look!).I chose that one(French rom) on Sammobile as the build numbers where the same.! should of researched first
Thanks for the link.
I've just installed the stock ROM and all went well.
One issue or may not be is that when i go to About Device-Software update-check for updates and press nothin happens? Isn't it suppose to say Your device is already upto date?
Is there any links for a stable and most up to date version of Twrp recovery?
So Now i will try re-rooting again. I think I am going to try Twrp recovery after looking at a few forums.
Also I have seen people tap the Android version button(in About device) and the Jelly Bean wallpaper comes up but in my about device its all greyed out?
Anyway thanks again for the Help it was Greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Another Way to convert F240 to E988

I done it in F240S
1. First flash stock korean rom. ( Have a Backup First)

By Using this rom I felt like it's not really fast so I searched for how to convert F240X to E98X and Install CM Based Rom for International varient which I tried earlier on my LG G2 LS980 and followed this guide on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/opti...-e988-t2837286
I just updated the build props as Mentioned in the link and then I was successful in installing CM 12.1 official rom (On Which the touch response was terrible), I tried Ressurection remix, bliss pop etc but then again I felt frequent disconnect from network and ohhhh dammmmmn I figured out that I didn't back up my imei before.
Now I am in a strange trouble I reverted back to stock and then again installed Henry 8.5i rom ! Now I have mobile network access ! calls and message + GPRS is working fine but in the about menu my device has a 0 imei . How is this possible?
Please help me how I can get my imei back ?

Go to the Menu > Other Tools > CSC Changer and see a list of available CSC in your device.
If there is XSG in the list, you can change to that CSC. Otherwise you have to download that firmware (using Menu > Firmware Browser) and flash via Odin.

What firmware did you install via Odin?
Find the firmware for XSG (UAE) by open the menu Firmware Browser, enter XSG into the CSC textbox and tap Go button to search.

You may brick your device by flashing firmware from another model. So no need to risk yourself.
You can find ALL AVAILABLE firmwares for your model (N915G) by leave the CSC textbox empty (blank) and tap Go button to search.
As there is no N915G firmware for UAE now, there is nothing to do. You have 2 options: wait until it becomes available, or try the firmware for your model from another region. I see the following regions are currently available: Australia, India, Singapore.
Got the idea, thanks
Did you know, that...
the Usage History (Headset Connect counter, Charger Connect counter, S Pen Detach counter) remain unchanged even if you factory reset the device.
New update v2.1.0:
- Update Color database.
- Some improvements and optimizations.
(including: install to the external storage, auto close the running service when the app exits,...).
thx a lot this is the best app that i used ever
