My Verizon G4 only came with Chrome browser. I saw some posts mentioning another stock browser installed on some phones. If you have the other browser, could you please upload the apk?
Same here, just chrome and I'm on Sprint

LG 818 N in India came with some other browser. I am using only chrome
Sent from my LG-H818 using Tapatalk
I believe all the USA phones come with only Chrome. Been using #NoChromo google it for the thread other's are using it as well on the G4 I like it alot. Too bad we can't uninstall chrome.
My LG-H815, softvare V10a-EUR-XX, came with 2 diferent browser... Chorme and stock... on my previous galaxy SIII I used chrome, but I find the stock browser in LG G4 far better than chrome.
Stock browser also come within QSlide apps, so you can launch it from quick settings panel and then resized it to flow over desktop. The button controls for browsing can also be customized inside the browser, so it is realy a great browsing experience.
Here are some pics:
My phone came with the stock LG browser, but I downloaded Chrome because I like it.

Thanks for posting it! So far, it won't let me install it. I'll keep messing with it though.
Anybody figured out how to install the browser?
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
Yea I am really pissed that the US carriers rip out the stock browser with QSlide. We installed it in the G2 forums but it requires flashing it (I think).
I use the QSlide apps on occasion. Although on the G2, the Phone app would not allow for in-call button presses for Automated Attendant options. I mean it WOULD allow it... but they just weren't passed to the other side. Kinda defeats the purpose because I would have an email open with a conference bridge phone number and connection number. I could dial the number but not enter the number to join.
The Browser was pretty sweet though but irrelevant now that we have dual window I guess, although I think we can only dual windows certain apps. God I want root.
My US Cellular version (LGUS991) only had Chrome as a pre-installed browser, but after having some very annoying (albeit trivial) issues with Chrome on this device I opted to just remove it and opted to use Opera for Android (which I am finding has all the features I liked about Chrome and then some).
I use to be all about Chrome but it seems like it has been dropping the ball for me as of late (on both the Android devices and on my Laptop actually).

I'm on the Verizon G4. I tried putting the whole folder under system/apps and system/priv-apps, set all the permissions the same as the surrounding files and folders and force close every time. I would love to be able to use this browser. Can anyone help?
sometimes the lib file doesn't match with apk...what version of fw you used..
Once i have tried replaced camera apk from e to b, got force close even after clear cache/data..but when replaced with g fw, its working..so i guess you have to try with another version if possible

can't remember the last time I used Flash in a mobile browser.... well over a year now since I've done it.
How do you not use flash?? I'm sure you have been to sites and there was a video box just empty. I can't stand that. I love watching videos on my phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
The only reason why I haven't disabled it is because I use the scrolling bookmark widget.
I've watched loads of videos with the chrome browser. I'm not sure flash is that wide spread any more...

It really isn't lol. Any website dev that's worth anything has already transitioned away from Flash to make their site iPhone/iPad friendly.
Lol... Awkward, when so many people think flash is one of the biggest reasons to choose Android over UPS devices, when really there are much better reasons than an antiquated web standard... Seriously, I hate flash. Generally have it disabled on Android anyway.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Yeah, I haven't used flash since I got my phone (3 months). However, I do keep the stock browser enabled because I like the "request desktop site" option. It's useful for the sites where you lose functionality for being on a mobile site (amazon is a good example).
Just my .02
I've disabled the stock browser, no side effects, only thing I miss is the desktop view, and keep forgetting chrome doesn't have that yet..hoping future updates will rectify this

This and full screen + quick controls. I think it'll be hard to implement though because they're using a swipe in from the side for switching between tabs... We'll see how they do that.
Chrome is gonna be the wave of the future on Android so we better get used to it
maybe I'm the only one having this issue... does anyone else have an insanely difficult time getting chrome to copy or cut and paste effectively? I seem to have to share the page in Gmail, copy the link from the Gmail app, then paste it where I want it. If I try to just copy from chrome when I go to paste it somewhere, the paste dialog comes up, but nothing will paste. This has happened to me on multiple ROMs. Any ideas?

The whole flash vs. No-flash is insanely funny.
People will argue that iOS devices suck because they don't have flash (not true) but when a Google browser for their Android device comes out without flash support, it no big deal!
Even look at the Firefox mobile reviews... It is mostly negative reviews because of the lack of flash, but then you read the Chrome for Android reviews and it's all 5 stars and the comment that flash isn't important.
Big LOL. Personally, I use flash all day. Many sites I visit use flash and there is no way around it. My local newspaper is flash; restaurant menus are often flash; many product review sites still use flash and flash games - well... They are obviously flash.
To each, his own... But don't be content with having less features!

Just wanting to start a list as to which apps/files have been been checked to see if after removing won't mess up the phone. I want to debloat this as much as possible
I've removed all at&t apps except smart wifi
removed Polaris office, live wallpapers, Facebook, city ID
want to remove YP but it says LG YP and looks like there is some link to it from the contact book that may break, if someone has already done that please post.
Not going to touch any Google apps yet since looks like some are getting security errors on reboot
what else have you guys deleted and haven't had any issues
has anyone deleted that other setting app for tabbed view... May just disable it since I don't really need two next to each other

You have to root it and then use titanium backup to remove or freeze apps.
Better to freeze them first to make sure you don't delete something that will cause issues later.
Hope this helps.

Not a good idea at all until we have usable recovery. As linked above, some of the apps are intertwined tightly within the lg security and you will lock down your phone if you remove the wrong app. The linked poster removed Google Movies and that borked his phone.
Freezing is fine for me for now. It is not as if the bloat is causing lag, this phone is fast.
The security issue seems to be happening if Google apps were tampered. I've removed every AT&T app except myAT&T along with the Browser and Email app and even the EasySettings, and haven't gotten the security screen.
I removed most of the ATT Apps. Also got rid of LG YP. All it did was make it so the yp link in contacts doesn't work. Just an error message, no force closing.
Also added 4.2 keyboard and camera as well as SVoice. Replaced LGs weird browser with stock ICS. Loving this thing so far.
I've frozen everything with AT&T and YP in it, so far no problems. I'm also using everything I restored from my SGSIII. Apex, SwiftKey X, Handcent, etc...

No go, moved it to /system/app, chmod 644, deleted /data/dalvik-cache and rebooted. Still Force closes. Any chance you can share your APK? Mine is supposed to be from the GSM Galaxy Nexus but you never know...
EDIT: Nevermind, just grabbed a Browser.apk off some random CyanogenMod 9 ROM. Didn't like it moved to /system/app, but took it fine when sideloaded as a regular APK. Go figure.
Wow, Google should've kept this browser. It blows Chrome out of the water in terms of smoothness and functionality.

Did it the same way as mentioned for the browser. Could never get photo sphere working, but i like the interface of the 4.2 camera so much more.
I once had a lg nitro hd and after removing all the bloat i safely could i found that my battery life was amazing. Has anyone experienced that on this phone too?
We should make a list of what we are freezing/removing.
Also, I've been trying to get the browser trick to work all morning... no dice. I can't even get it to show up. Had my friend send me browser.apk from his AOKP rom, and just realized its Jelly Bean.... might be the problem. Haven't tried the camera trick yet..
EDIT:
Ok I got the browser working. Used CM9 rom. Its sooooo fast. I've uninstalled Firefox, and Chrome... Now on to find the camera from 4.2
Ok, I can't get the 4.2 camera working to save my life. It FCes everytime I try it. The gallery is working fine. Used the files from here:

PM me.
Honestly, I tried many browsers out there, but I still love chrome, and love the little things it has. Only thing I dont like is how flash is not supported. Is there a way to get flash on Chrome, or is there no ways to get that? I tried searching for similar topics, but I couldnt find any.
If there is no way, can you recommend a browser that is like chrome, but with flash?
Stuff I like about chrome are:
1. I like how I dont lose my tabs even after closing the app (task manager) or even shutting off the phone
2. I like how chrome auto fills the url, such as if I type xd, it autofills all the url l
3. The smoothnews, and the speed.
Thank you!

Nope..there isn't. All mobile browsers do not support flash anymore. U might be able to get it on dolphin or firefox but I found it to be unreliable. It worked with some basic flash i used as a test but not for a local news site when a brush fire was going burn down my home.. Ur supposed to get the app for whatever ur trying to do with flash but obviously u cant find an app for some things like local news... so you just speed home and drive crazy the old way.
The dependency is two fold.. one is android version and the other is browser version. So if you run android 2.0 and ancient browser then you have flawless flash
BTW Opera mobile is faster than chrome and it does all those things u liked (not flash tho). I only use chrome on desktop but I test it on android with every new version. It's still slower on some sites.
Aww thats too bad I guess.
Thanks for the recommendation. Ill trybout opera

Hi there.
Has anyone have a problem with system constantly asking which app to use to open a video? Lets say I'm clicking a youtube link in the browser and it's asking me whether to use a browser or mxpayer or youtube to open it. Every single time I want youtube app to deal with it by default but it keeps asking.
The same thing with opening links, it asks to choose the default from browser, tapatalk or tapatalk based app. Even when the default action and app is always selected it doesn't remember it. Any ideas how to fix it? I have D855, UK Three branded, still running 10a soft, rooted.

Still no answer? I'm interested in this as well.
I am running Affliction (stable) rom and love it. But the only thing I am really missing is the stock G2 (LS980) browser.
Anyone know how I can add it back? I have tried a few different ways but still cannot get it to work. I am pretty sure that Affliction Rom is De-Odexed, so I would need a version and instructions for that.
Thank you!
Might b wrong section but i have to admit i would like to have this also. Peace bro

That's a valid opinion, but stock is stock and sometimes is better. It is not bloat, so why it was removed? Like the weather widget... I think that developer can't solve some problems so he removed parts of the rom. And thats a no solution....

Solution or not. It is by name his ROM, and this how he wishes it to be. Those that don't can add or remove things.

Well I am asking to have it back because I like using the stock browser for.....other things.
This way when I am done using it, I do not have to go and clear out my history like I do with Chrome browser, which will also show on my PC and other Google connected devices, but I don't really want to turn history off due to Google Now and other functions. Mainly though, I just like the lightness of the stock browser. If the dev of Affliction removed it due to compatibility issues, then so be it. Nothing I can do about that.
I was just wondering how I can get it back on there, what APK I will need (Ones I have found are original w/Odex file...no good), and how to make it work. None of the other G2 browsers I have tried work. They all FC.

I am with you! the stock browser is great and has its uses. I needed it too so I ended up using a different ZVD rom that contained the stock browser and was closer to stock in many other areas as well.
If you can find another deodexed rom with the stock browser, you can easily pull the apk out of the zip file (/system/app) and then copy it to your phone and use a root browser (such as rom toolbox) and move it to /system/app on your phone. Then it should show up in your apps list for use.

lurtis, thanks mate! This did the trick.
But since the method in that thread has a zip file including the framework for a ZVC based rom, I decided it would be best to just extract the deodexed LGBrowser.apk from it to avoid any issues.
Dropped it into system/apps, adjusted permissions, and rebooted. When it came back up it worked great.
Anyone doing this, just make sure that you change to the correct permissions BEFORE the reboot or it will not install. Took me a few times before I figured out why it wouldn't work.
