[ROM][D800][CyanogenMod 12.1][CAF][UNOFFICIAL][5.1] - G2 Android Development

I managed to compile cm12.1 for the D800 using vendor and device files from TheMuppets, and Kernel from Lg-devs.
I dirty flashed over cm12, still discovering issues. You MUST flash a cm12.1 gapps if you had gapps before or you will boot loop. Also highly recommend uninstall/re-install other google apps (like "keep").
Works:
Booting up
Wifi
LTE Data(using T-mobile APN)
Voice
Rotation (be sure you have the latest baseband)
I have the OEM case with the window on it for the watch thing:
The watch thing doesn't appear because that is not implemented(yet) in CM but it does sleep and wake with the magnet thing.
Knock to Wake
Double tap status bar to sleep
Stuff not tested:
LTE or voice on AT&T APN (I use T-mobile on this device) Please provide feedback
pretty much everything else
Not Working:
Does not grant me 3 wishes even if one of those wishes is for an iPhone

Do you have @Rashed97 consent and permission? Just like the thread below, this will probably get closed.

I have not. I'll reach out to him and see what's up. Closing this thread in the mean time (if I can figure out how)
Edit: could not figure out how to close the thread so I took down the download links.

It's all good man, just wanted to inform you that Rashed didn't want his CM sources out yet until finished and didn't want ya getting 'punished' so to speak

However, there are at least 5-6 roms which are using these sources, so... [emoji14]
Because, as far as I'm concerned - RR, Bliss, 2x Euphoria, AICP and some builds by zg85 (for d802) - all of them are more or less based on lg-devs sources.

From how I understand it, those use official CM sources as Rashed has not pushed CAF into CM yet. Yes they work on the CAF bootstacks but are not fully based on the rest of Rashed CM work. It's confusing to me tbh, I was simply referencing the previous closure not stating rules or anything. No source has been posted for these builds in OP so I can't be sure.

Right, and drgravy is a member of lg devs, so he is allowed to use his own work.
Other ROMs have seaked permission from rashed and the lg devs.
The problem is people go all lolololololololopensource and don't have enough respect to ask the guys working on it, and giving proper credits.

I reached out to @Rashed97 to see what I can do to help move things along, my main goal was to try to get official nightlies kicked off for the D800, and using the sources mentioned in the OP it has been stable for me for about a day so far. It looks like his main concern with the linked post was it may be dangerous to flash with the wrong bootstacks and he doesn't want peeps to claim his work as their own. Perfectly understandable. So I won't upload builds until rashed is cool with it, but if you want to try this yourself you can compile using the sources mentioned above with minimal configuration changes. I got my d800 on the cheap from e-bay so I'm not too worried about bricking it, but if you are worried about yours maybe you should just wait .

Short answer: yes. I'm going to try grabbing the relevant code from MWisBest's githib. If it turns out to be too involved for my limited skills, it will have to wait until Ziyan submits the changes to CM.

OK I am going to be on board with testing for sure. I left a post in the now no longer current official thread that I flashed the last official build yesterday and I had perfect 3G to LTE to 3G handoff, rock solid WiFi strength, basically everything seemed to work very well. I am looking forward to seeing how things progress. I haven't been able to keep any of the official CM builds from bootlooping until now. Hopefully you stick with it because I am getting better performance from this device than I have seen in a long while

I should've had a machete to hack through the jungle of build errors from pulling a modified OmniROM device tree into a CyanogenMod build. Looks like the build is rolling now though, with any luck it might just complete successfully - who knows, it might even boot.
The only thing slower around here than me is my poor old computer.
Its kind of ironic that the Galaxy Nexus was the first official LTE device for Sprint and I am only just recently starting to get LTE on a semi regular basis.
@musical_chairs, take your time with your builds. I assure you that they are appreciated. Now that this device is actually getting decent (for Sprint) signal and still has current builds makes it more enjoyable to use than just about any time I can remember....I just miss Imoseyon's Lean kernels. I got GREAT battery on those. They were compiled in the now deceased (I think) CMRemix ROMs but the LTE is definitely a plus
Update: For now, I have stopped working on building CyanogenMod with the DDK 1.9 drivers. I was ending up with a completely unsustainable mess of a device tree, and was still running into build errors. If new drivers are what you want, use FML. I'll focus on keeping the regular CM builds updated for the time being.

Thanks for trying anyhow. I'm glad cm11 still has a fighting chance with the GNex, thanks to you, and all the others who are able to help out.
We're all waiting for cm12 to get to a buildable state. In the meantime, I've been working on upgrading my build box. My old machine was just barely capable of building android, the 'new' one isn't new but it was a real beast in its day. Time for a clean build has dropped from a day and a half to two and a half hours. I'm happy...

just curious, how difficult is it to compile roms? Do you need to know how to write your own code or is it over glorified copy and pasting with packages and stuff?

I do a lot of copying and pasting, a lot of reading guides, and a whole lot of google-ing. I don't know how to write my own code, but I have lots of experience with applying patches. Compiling roms is not that hard if you're a Linux user, have a working knowledge of the command line, and have a basic understanding of git. Take away any one of those things and it becomes a whole lot harder.

Yeah i haven't gotten to play with linux, nor do i know what git's are (i think they are large batch's of code posted in plain text?) . always wanted to try but don't have the time.

git is the software the devs use to keep track of changes in the code. Most Android devs have their git repositories on Github, those are probably what you are thinking of. Every little change (called a 'commit') has its own unique hash number. It's pretty amazing, you can look through somebody else's commits and find one that fixes a bug you are working on, or split tens of thousands of changes in half, then in half again, then in half again, etc., and pinpoint the exact commit that causes a bug on your system - though that's more useful in Linux kernel development than in Android.
I don't really have the time either, but it's such a fun hobby...
Using quickboot?
Coming from Vanir. Really like the facility quickboot gives. Anyone "enabled" it? I can't seem actually show the field to turn it on. Settings search finds it, but that's it... Noticed Dev options is hidden also. What's up?
Props for keeping CM11 updated. Really like I can actually use SMS in Hangouts.
I haven't been following the nightly changes since toroplus went dark, but I ran a build today--nothing special, just the latest cm...whatever changes they are. I could post it but don't know if I should make another thread or just link to it in here.
Anything substantial get added to general cm in the last few months?
I tried to run a build of cm12 but it looks like things still aren't ready for building yet, either that or I'm not sure how to switch back and forth between the cm11 repo and cm12 without getting repo update errors.

Here's my cm11 build from yesterday--equivalent to a plain nightly. It's been running fine since I dirty flashed it last night. Md5sum is linked as well and noted below.

No offense but you're the 3rd one to release a rom that has the exact same source as the original CM13 thread, and all others have been shutted down. You should invest your time helping the main branch fixing their stuff instead of dividing everybody. Releasing a ROM that is exactly the same with a different name is a total lack of respect to those who really worked hard to make this happen, plus your sources are not even public :/

I'm pretty sure it's an XDA rule to publish the source of every rom/kernel. Otherwise it could contain malware/keylogger or could be fake. I took a look at SLIM's github and i didn't see anything related to the S6.
Dude you dont get it. According to XDA you should publish a source for the kernel and I did. Go ahead with the link I posted and it will direct you to the kernel source. It is not necessary that the kernel should belong to Slim.
I see no official source on your GitHub. Is this just a rebrand of CM 13 for S6?

Various ROMs for GX8 [9/24/16]

So I've been building some roms for this device for a while now and figured I'd share my personal builds. I do not have the time to officially maintain these or provide any support which is why I'm posting them here. Hopefully it doesn't get removed. These have been tested on the US variant.
ROMs I'm currently building weekly-ish:
CM13 - credits to the CM team. Moved. Please see this thread for updates.
Bliss - credits to the CM and Bliss team. As of 8/12/16 this ROM is currently discontinued until if/when the source starts working again. Nothing I can do about this. Last build can be downloaded here.
Resurrection Remix - credits to the CM and RR team. Moved here.
CAF-AOSP - See main thread here.
The device tree, kernel, and vendor stuff is all coming from @surdu_petru He's done an outstanding job on this device. We should all be thankful for the work he has done which has allowed things like CM to work on this device. I have rolled back some of the changes in his latest version to fix some of the issues introduced on his most recent sources. You should all buy him a beer if/when he returns
I'd also like to give credit to @EarlyMon and ncrypt3d for their guidance and willingness to teach a newbie.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you break your phone using these files. Educate yourself before using them.
Installation: Same as the CM13 requirements found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gx8/development/rom-t3342802
Gapps: I've only tested these with opengapps.

Kernel: https://github.com/Huawei-Dev/android_kernel_huawei_msm8939
Vendor: https://github.com/Huawei-Dev/android_vendor_huawei_rio
9/24/16 - Thread created for resurrection remix in the appropriate forum. This thread is effectively obsolete.
9/17/16 - Now helping build weeklies for the main CM13 thread. Resurrection Remix updated to include latest device fixes and snapdragon camera.
9/8/16 - CM13 discontinued now that the dev has returned. Please see his thread for future updates and give him your thanks. Bliss is still broken. Resurrection remix has been updated to latest sources and includes Sept 2016 security patches. DT2W should be working.
9/1/16 - Weekly updates.
Can you work on his MM Emui version so that it does not cause the flickering issue when flashed? As you have the US model {RIO-L03} i hope.
Huawei has not released M for the US and I haven't heard of any plans to update it. Nothing I can do about that. Unfortunately these roms require the tz.img from the foreign M release for the fingerprint to work. These builds will check to make sure the tz.img matches or the install will fail. Again this is all work done by @surdu_petru.
Long story short, nothing I can do. Yell at Huawei for providing no support in the US for this phone.
You should do a separate topic with changelogs for every rom.
It would look better and cleaner.
Going to test ressurection and bliss.
Where do we report for any bugs?
Best of luck.

They are all the same but each one has its own features regarding customization.
The Bliss Rom and Ressurection were the best ones because they are packed with features that CM doesn't have.

See link at bottom of OP. Speaking of bliss, that seems to be broken since the last big CM update. New builds are no good until the bliss team fixes it (if they even choose to fix it with CM14 on the horizon).

Personal Build Playground Moto G5 Plus

I'm creating this thread to post personal builds to those that want to try them. Just an FYI I'm choosing this approach instead opening numerous unoffical build threads because 1)I'm unsure how much time I'll be able to invest 2) I'm too much of a flashaholic to stay with one rom long enough to properly support it 3) I'm not a dev, I'm just someone with a linux laptop that enjoys putting pieces together. Also If anyone would like to share their builds or assist with others that want to learn to compile. (JUST PLEASE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND MAKE SURE THE ROM BOOTS FIRST AND ARE NOT GOING BRICK DEVICES ALONG WITH SOURCES)(BUGS are expected this is a newbie.....as in Me thread)
Note:
I used SuperSU for root on this rom with no problems what so ever, Mileage may very with those that use Magisk.
Maintaining of rom may be here nor there depending on if I grow tired of the rom and decide to go to bigger and better things or if time allows, so please don't expect or request updates......I'm doing this just to share my personal builds and hopefully spark interest with others.

Awesome :good: But why don't you create a thread in the Rom section? BTW What Linux distro are you running?

I'm running Ubuntu mate 16.04 at the moment but I hop distros from arch to fedora. And that kind of answers your other question, I'm to A.D.D to stick with one rom for long and I open a thread I'm committing to that rom. This is more or less a hobby for me and when get a chance I'll build but it doesn't happen very much between the kids and the girlfriend lol.

New build up in OP, ENJOY!
Hey thanks for sharing I'll test one out this weekend .
Cardinal Update is in the oven
Had a ittle bitty stump in the build but don't worry I made it up to you all by adding a couple of additional features
PS....why is it so quite in here?? Feels like I'm talking to myself.........this is a discussion/build form lol! crickets!!crickets!! crickets!! Believe me all I don't mind a little off topic as long as you keep it clean and nice and android focused. Just don't blow up the thread with screenshots or links
Soooooo........thinking about a rebase to another linux distro soon...any input on with one? Thinking Fedora because it's also a great distro for building on but I do miss Solus and Arch
Hi!! I'm that guy from g+ remember me?? The one asking for the cypher os build? Well I've come to ask again, sorry if that sounded a little rude.
No, but my DUDEE! I think cypher 5.0 sources are up already. Can you make a build? Please? I don't if you take request like this but at least I tried.
Also that cardinal build is ? supper smooth, just one thing fingerprint gesture didn't work either. I hope you fix that in the update. Thank you for all this ROMs that no one are building, just you

Thanks for the feed back, I'll look into the fingerprint thing again soon but probably wont be in this build as its already building after being up all night trying to wrap my head around a feature that due to sleep will have to wait lol. I'll see if I cant get a cypher build out soon as well:good:
Cardinal AOSP Update 10/19
Alright peps, sorry for the long delay....but the build is ready. Not exactly what I want to upload because I was wanting to add a certain feature but with sleep deprivation kicking in I was forced to put it on the back burner and do a clean build. So with that said I'm going to get some rest and I will update the OP with changes and so on tomorrow...HAPPY FLASHING :cyclops::silly::victory:

Thanks going to try this but you should move your thread to Moto G5+ Development Section. I think no one checks ROMs on Discussion section.

[ROM][11.0] Yet another AOSP project [OP5/5T][ALPHA][26-10-2020]

Who are we?YAAP is a project founded by Adhitya Mohan (@poad42) and Ido Ben-Hur (@idoybh) with the goal of staying close to AOSP in design goals, offer a clean interface, do as much as original development as possible and avoid becoming a kitchen sink and cherry picked mess.
Bug reporting:
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Flashing ProcedureInstall TWRP (Latest codeworkx is recommended)
Coming from a different rom / OS you'll need to clean flash:
1. Wipe data (Factory reset)
(1.1.) If coming from stock OS you may need to format internal storage
2. Flash rom
(2.1.) Flash mods (magisk, no veirty if on ext4 decrypted.)
3. Rejoice
For dirty flash just skip step 1, 1.1
and possibly 2.1 if your mods support addon.d (ex: Magisk)
It does not matter when you flash the firmware zip, and you only need to flash it once per firmware version

Barebones AOSP in regards to the UI because the dev's previous NitrogenOS had a bunch of customisations. I don't think that's very hard to understand. The objective is to be as barebones as possible, Gapps have nothing to do with being barebones or not.
Hello! Thank you in advance for doing this great project. It is possible to make a ROM Similar to Oxygen OS 11? I really liked this new Oxygen aesthetic. Thank you again for doing this for us.

Yes it does. It isn't as barebones as possible in its current state because GApps is unnecessary for Android to run. It also increases the file size of the rom. False advertisation.
Besides, I've never, ever seen an initial AOSP rom for a new Android version that includes GApps on XDA. Heck, I've never seen a "barebones" AOSP rom that includes GApps. I think that's quite telling.

Well, actually a lot of 'AOSP' roms are just 'LineageOS based but with the AOSP interface'. Even in this case some repos are based on the LineageOS repos:

The device tree was created by los yes, but has been extensively reworked both in Q and R, the cheeseburger tree is just a bunch of makefiles. The common tree is the one that has most of the stuff. So its not los based with an aosp interface or anything like that lol. Its just its own thing.
Thank you for freely sharing your great work. It is much appreciated! :highfive:

1st thing first: Congrats for working so frequently to bring up Android 11 for oneplus 5 & 5t. Brother I've suggestion not to react for users who don't understand the efforts of dev's hard work, I know how much time it takes and from where that time we manage? We cut down that time from our family, our rest and by changing our sleeping pattern. It's not our business, We're doing this just for hobby not for money. But instead of appreciation getting questions. I haven't seen if anyone has asked politely that " Sir please correct barebones word because you've included GApps". Brother again I'll say don't answer to users who always seeking your writing mistakes but not measuring your efforts and hard work.

Please respect the wishes and decisions of the developer. You may provide constructive criticism but spewing disbelief for a feature or module that is or isn't present does not comply with the above rule.
Keep in mind there are plenty of alternatives to choose from and realize how lucky you are with a device that gets so much development love.
If you are wondering why your post was removed or edited, please feel free to drop me a PM.
Have a great day and keep it safe!
Thanks for your work mate! Great to have R for OP5. I planned to change my phone, but if I can have R as daily driver, I may wait a bit more
Do you plan to stay "barbone" or will you gradually port nitrogen's features to R?
