Been using Daydream while docked at night on my S4 and S5 FOREVER. On new G4 the option is in settings for a few options but I can't get any to function. Verizon G4., Display/Daydreams on.
I have daydream. Its in settings under display.
Mine say docked or charging.
Did you bother looking exactly where it's supposed to be?

It's in settings/display/Daydream where it always has been. It just doesn't work. Changing or docked doesn't matter. Frustrating.
Misunderstood the question >< ........
Settings> Display> Daydream
Once you're there:
1- ON switch is at the top
2- Choose the default Clock to test it (change that anytime later)
3- Next to it, tap the 3-dot menu and tap on Startup Settings, choose Either to test it (change that anytime later)
4- 3-dot menu again, Start Now
Now if that doesn't work then maybe you disabled some app you shouldn't have?
If you're using a third party app what is it? Go through it's settings again.
Just bit the bullet and did a reset. Ta Da.... Back and functioning, thanks.

Hi ,
I'm sure I've seen this in several videos of pre-release Android ICS ! The home screen and the app drawer rotate in landscape mode.
Apparently it isn't the case in Android 4.0.1 on the GN... Why, why did they remove the feature ?! Am I missing something ?
[Sorry for the likely poor english, not from here]
EDIT: Seems I can't remove my own posts here for some reason. Slightly rewritten to at least make sense.
There has never been official support for that as far as I know. Some custom launchers implemented it.
What I said above was before I saw you mention pre-release ICS. In that case it indeed seems strange. Perhaps it was buggy?
Home screen rotate
I thought it would as well as am most disappointed , as it actually does work perfectly well when you plug in the mhl cable and turn it into landscape mode. Just dont understand why not without the cable , Perhaps a request to be put in for the next software update ?
Exactly, if you connect it to your TV with a MHL cable you can rotate the screen no problem.

Can you take a picture of the TV screen? I want to see what the launcher looks like in landscape.
I took some pictures, and there is a picture of the lockscreen as well ;-)

It looks quite polished, I don't see why Google removed it at the last minute?
Check your settings, the rotate option might be disabled.

There is no such option. I mean there is but it does not affect the main screen.

There is an option. It's in 'system settings' -> 'Launcher preferences' -> 'General' -> 'Auto-rotate screen'.
Your home screen should now rotate between landscape and portrait. Nice and intuitive setting location, right?

It doesn't work on the home screen. Never did on any official builds. The option is there, but it only affects applications, not the home screen.

Why bump a thread from November ?? And there is no such thing as launcher preferences. You are running a rom that has it.

I didn't really think to mention the rom I'm running. I'm running ICS Passion 10.6. In this rom there are two setting for it, one in 'Display' -> 'Auto-rotate screen' which seems to control rotation in apps, and one in 'Launcher preferences' -> 'General' -> 'Auto-rotate screen' which enables home screen rotation.
As mentioned by joshnichols189, I'm running a rom that has the option NOT an official release. Again, my apologies for the Confusion.

I wasn't trying to bump the thread. I was looking for the answer myself and found this forum post. I found the answer myself afterwards and thought I would be witty and post a response. Of course my response was unfortunately flawed, but still well-intentioned. The thread's only a few months old, I really don't see the problem here.
FWIW, at least on my G-Nex, this app allows the stock launcher to either auto-rotate or be locked in landscape: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker

Is there an app that allows direct access to one of the developer options so I can easily toggle it? I'm running stock, unrooted.
Here's the issue: Just upgraded to 4.3, and there's a bug that resets the Transition Animation Scale back to 1x whenever you run the Camera app. Right now I have to do Settings > More > Developer Options > scroll down to Transition Animation Scale > set to None > exit. PIA every time I use the Camera.
What I'd like is to have a script that runs the Camera app and then on exit automatically resets the animation option. Short of that I'd settle for a direct link to the option setting.
Any help appreciated.

Good thought. I am actually using Nova. Just looked through all the available Activity links but don't see direct access to the specific option I need to toggle.
I've also installed the Developer Options app, which does allow one click access to the Dev Options, so that's better than drilling down through Settings, etc.
Hi there, something from the Menu disappoints me... Maybe someone is having a hint or a hack!
As you can see in the screenshot there is always the option for the Standard Application activated. In some cases I (maybe some other as well) i want to use aother app the next time. And If you forget it... its standard..
How can I disable the dialog, that the next used app will be used as default?
Anybody?
Cheers
Does nobody having this as an issue ?
hmmmm ^^
I have. But didn't find any solution for it...
If what I understand from you is correct, you want the menu to always appear every time, correct? What you have to do, is not to use the "OK" button at the bottom of the menu. Just double tap the app that you want to use. This way, the menu will always appear every time.
Use app picker classic on the play store

Hello,
Quick question. After I flashed the QPE rom on M8 there seems to be no quick way to access the "Auto Rotate Screen" except by going through the settings --> display.
I tried to download widgets from playstore but they didn't work.
Does anyone know any solution?
Thanks,
Anyone have a solution?

Hi, Punira...
Have you tried this...

Used it for three years on a variety of Android devices, and it works on my stock M8.

Thanks!
Thanks,
This works great!!
Can't you use the quick setting panel? Pull down the notification panel with 2 fingers will take you immediately there & tap "Auto Rotate". If Auto Rotate is not, you should be able to edit the shortcuts & add it (at least in stock form).

Correct... He could just have removed one of the less important quick settings and added the auto rotate. Like DND, something that I personally never used and probably won't, so might as well remove that one and add auto rotate.

Yeah... this is a more elegant solution to the one I posted earlier. Just wasn't sure if the OPs Custom ROM would allow it.
@Punira
Afraid I don't know anything about the QPE rom you have installed... but if it's anything like HTC Sense factory stock, you should be able to edit the quick settings tiles.
See my attached screenshots... pull down the quick settings tiles (with two fingers on stock) and tap on the edit button, circled in red in my attached screenshot.
You can then drag'n'drop tiles accordingly... including adding the Auto-Rotate tile .
Hope this helps... and good luck.

Got a new G3, the F460 with Snapdragon 805, guess straight from Korea (bought on Swappa). Minor annoyance, the lock screen shows double clock - "Local" and "Home" time, where "home" is, I guess, Seoul Korea. How do I get rid of this "Home" time there or change its time zone to elsewhere? There is nothing on it in lock screen options, time zone settings in system settings also don't affect this, nothing in "Clock" application settings... Any ideas?
I was wondering this too.

Remove the widget by long pressing it on locked screen, then you can replace it with whatever you want.
Doesn't work with that particular widget.

Right, as the user just above me wrote, it does not work. You can press it as long as you want - eventually the lock screen will timeout and go dark, but you can't remove or edit this widget in any way. Any other ideas?

Ok, try this way:
- screen is locked but it's on
- touch and hold the widget and try to pull it down like notification bar
- widget should become bigger and editable
- touch and hold the widget (now you should be able to remove it)

Thank you for trying to help, Czechu! Dzięki! Unfortunately it still does not work. I can swipe the lock screen from the left edge, and _only_then_ I get a page and widget you show on your video. However, the screen that comes up first upon turning on is different, has two digital clocks that cannot be modified in any way, cannot be swiped down - nothing...

Heh, trudno.... I'm out of ideas then. Seems like the Korean variant is a bit different than euro. Hopefully someone will have a solution for that. Maybe try some 3rd party lockscreena for the time being?

This guy demonstrate that how to disable roaming clock through settings which is hidden. In order to access those settings, you need to download a free app named "Quick Shortcut Maker" from playstore. I just follow his steps and i just feel happy. 100% working.
