I need someone else that is on a 5.1 rom to turn their volume all the way down to the vibrate setting. Then set an alarm.
On 5.0 roms and below the alarm would play like normal. Nice and loud. Like a alarm should be. On the 5.1 roms the alarm sound, while the phone is set to vibrate, is extremely quiet. And I cannot find where to change this setting.
Happens on Insert Coin's 5.1 rom and Maximus's 5.1 rom.

Alarm volume is fine for me. On ICE 3.0.1. I used the volume down button to get to vibrate, used the settings button to check alarm volume (it was all the way up, so I didn't touch that slider), then set an alarm and waited. Volume seemed normal when the alarm went off.
Was this a stock alarm or a custom sound? Mine is a mp3 and it sounds normal outside of being set as an alarm.

Just a stock sound...foxglove. Volume escalates, but at the loudest it seems like its the same as it was on 5.0.1 roms and even back on my M8.

My alarm has stopped ringing for some reason. It will still vibrate, though. If I turn off vibrate, the phone will light up and the touchpad will flash, but no sound comes out.
I've read in other threads you're supposed to set the alarm sound, wait for the music to play, and then set the volume there. I've done this, turned "Media volume" all the way up. The alarm still doesn't ring. Ringer volume is all the way up. I've even waited for the (silent) alarm to go off, and then tried to increase the volume. Pressing the volume keys while the alarm is going off just hits snooze. Any ideas, people?

Have you checked that the alarm volume is up? Go to Menu>Settings from where you enter your alarms and double check

What ROM and have you installed any notification apps that may have disabled your notifications?
are you using the stock alarm clock or another app?
Well, I "solved" the problem by downloading a replacement application from the Market. I forgot that even though it's a system application, the alarm is just another application. If it doesn't want to work, then screw it. The new alarm has a configurable snooze, as well, which the stock alarm clock lacked.
I have a 2013 N7, stock rom, Glitch kernel... and a weird problem.
Occasionally, when my morning alarm is supposed to go off, it doesn't. The screen will turn on, the option to snooze or dismiss the alarm will show, but there is no sound.
The volume is all the way up, and if I start to play music or a video it will have sound... but the alarm will randomly be silent.
Has anyone ran into the issue before? Surely this wouldn't be a kernel issue, would it?
Any ideas?

alarm sound is a totally different slider than the media volume, so while you may be able to play music, the alarm sound can be off. go into setting and sound and click on volumes and let me know what you see. alarm volume should be towards the bottom (i think)

You were correct, Alarms volume is at the bottom. Alarms volume is turned all the way up.
Isn't it really possible to mute the ringtone without muting the alarm(s)?
Running stock 5.0.1

You can also mute the ringtone by just pressing on the volume down button on any home screen. It only effects the ringtone. Not media or alarm sounds. If you do it, look to the right side of the window that pops up. You'll see a gear icon (for lack of a better term). Touch it and you can set them all from there.
Yes, exactly. Just as I thought.
I have a HTC One X as well, and there it works just as its supposed to.
However it does not work on my M8. As soon as I mute the ringtone the alarm mutes as well. And if I try to turn the volume up for the alarm, it just slides right down again. There must be a bug.
Any suggestions to fix this without doing a factory reset?
Just upgraded to MM, and its working now
The phone Speaker is way too loud on lowest Settings. My ears are bleeding when the Alarm Rings on lowest!
I think it's the OOS 3.5.1 Rom.
Have you this Problem too?

I think I remember reading somewhere that turning dolby off lowers the notification volume.

I see the same issue on completely stock 3.2.4. The notifications sound is very loud. In other oneplus threads I saw that you should uncheck the option 'link notification and ringer volume' in sound setting, which will separate the notification sound from the ringer volume. However, I cannot see the option there and I can only control three volume levels - ringer, media, and alarm clock. I vaguely remember that the option was there when I got the phone with the previous version of OOS, however, I cannot locate it now...
If you want to change the Volume in smaller Steps install Gravity Box and Xposed Framework, there is a tweak for this
Same here. Alarm on lowest volume setting is louder than the maximum volume on my OPX.
I get a heart-attack every morning when the alarm goes off.
(stock 3.2.4)
Same here I tried to use the 3rd party applications but the minimum level of alarm clock sound is done by the system.
Xposed is not solution for me - I don't want to root my OP3.
Now I use the old Samsug Glaxy Trend for morning waking up...

With boeffla Kernel installed you can set the volume lower with boeffla Sound.
I set the ringtone to vibrate or silent so as not to be woken while asleep. Unfortunately my alarm is also silent. The volume for the alarm is set to almost max. I even tried through bixby as it has an independant volume but same result.
I have had HTC and Huawei and they have separate alarm clock volume.
Is there a secret?

Go to alarm then hit the three dots and turn off vibrate for alarms. Same thing happened to me. Was late for work first day with phone.
Thats exactly what I was looking for. I'm getting old and I'm missing such simple things.
Thank you
