Different BASEBAND (or RADIO or MODEM) available for D850? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my G3 and love everything about it with Cloudy rom. Maybe it could be the first time I stay with a stock based rom rather than CM. However, the call signal seems to be very weak compared to my Nexus 4 (I'm using D850 on T-mobile network)..
Is there any different baseband (or whatever you call it - radio or modem), available for this phone? I would like to try some different baseband and see if there is any differences.... I looked up the whole xda but doesn't seem to have a thread like modem collection...

Lollipop based rom. It seems that d850 is particularly poor at receiving tmobile 4g signal... It seems to be getting att one without too much problem. Is kitkat modem better? I didn't find them to be different though.

Is therr a D850 20P radio modem available somewhere??

20P is only for D855, please dont randomely flash modems that you find on the internet

Thank you for the very constructive feedback No one is randomly flashing anything, with wreckless abandon as the 855 modem is usually accompanied by a warning by actually constructive posters.
How about oosting the latest 850 modem?

Umm if you can find the KDZ or someone whos running the latest Lollpop firmware they can probably extract it for you

Well, I started this thread and I have collected Kitkat modem and the current 20F lollipop modem for D850. It seems that these two are only available. I'm trying to upload the files but xda says the files are too big. Hopefully ATT makes some new modems to solve the issue. Compared to my other devices G3's signal is almost 10 dbm poorer than others (especially same LG made nexus 4 with 33 hybrid modem...
edit: Okay here are the links for download
for kitkat

for lollipop

Can anyone tell me the modem version of d850's 21q? is it the same as c1.13?

Anyone know which modem / baseband firmware for LS991 (LG G4 sprint)? Thanks

Please check this post, its the latest one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62977015&postcount=265

Hi. I have one of those compiled G3s with D850mainboards from Aliexpres. I cant get the GSM function running , so want to try the 850 modems. Can you refresh the modem links as mega says it is expired due inactivity? Thank you!

[Q] Newbie modem question

Hello all. I have a I9195T (Telstra, Australia - Serranoltexx), which I took the plunge and rooted (thank you arco68!) and then installed CM10.2 direct from the CM wiki page. This is working great, but I am bit confused as to how the modem works. I appear to have retained my baseband (phew!), but wonder how this translates to using other custom ROM's from XDA etc.
If they are made for a different baseband (but for I9195) is it possible to backup the MODEM firmware, flash another ROM and then flash the MODEM over again to retain the baseband? If this is possible where do I find the MODEM firmware to back it up? I've had a search but I think I am missing the really low level understanding of how the MODEM itself fits into the ROM picture.
Any help appreciated, even if its just a search term suggestion or link.
edit: I should put my baseband is I9195TDVUAMH1, using 1800mhz LTE.

As far as i know our devices does not have any limitations concerning flashing ROMs and having an "incorrect" Modem.
I would recommend though to have always the latest modem.

[Q]F180K Optimus G localized via flashing to E975

just recently, I bought a Korean Optimus G for a sweet price. now I'm thinking of rooting it and installing a custom rom.
problem is, it's an F180K but was localized by conversion to E975. How do i go about doing this, do I flashback to F180K (if that's possible) or can i continue and flash E975 ROMs on this converted-F180K?
also, I'm currently using an LTE sim but not getting any LTE, could the conversion be the cause? how do I fix it?
thanks in advance for the help! on a side note, which (in your opinion) is the smoothest and fastest rom that doesn't eat up too much space (is that possible) and gives the best battery life. preference of qualities are in that order.
I also own an F180K bought from Korea. What i can tell you is that this model has only LTE 900 and LTE 1800 bands. So even if you can and will convert back its possible not to fix your LTE issue.
Regarding the roms ( this is my opinion only ) i couldn't find any rom to beat the stock. I tried many of them about 5-6 months ago. Now might be different. So my opinion is that Stock rom with root access and greenify beats everything.
oh. so that's why i'm not getting any LTE. My carrier's LTE network runs on 2100. sucks -.-
anyway, know how I can convert back to stock F180K? Can I use E975 ROMs for my F180K or only the ones tailor made for the F180K?
thanks for the reply btw, I was beginning to lose hope. anyway, what version is stock on? I'd like 4.4 KitKat but if it's still on 4.3 then I'll still have to think about it.
I also heard stock F180K has a lot of korean stuff despite changing language to english, this true?

thank you, that's very informative. I'm currently on 4.1.2 although this isn't the korean version, should I go for the original F180K firmware? my software version is e97510d-ESA-XX.
I also read there are some korean stuff on the dialer in the stock firmware of the F180K, how do you get rid of those?
last question, what's in the later versions (4.2/4.3/4.4) that's not in 4.1?

If you want to get rid of Korean-specific features and elements in the interface (like labels on the dialer), the Korean stock ROM is not for you. The E975 ROM that you have right now should be good, but I am not sure if I understand exactly what you mean by "localized"... You can definitely use E975 ROMs on F180 (I do), but it might be a bit messy, depending on your luck. There is a lot of info here on XDA regarding F180 -> E975 conversion and related issues -- read it to understand what you are doing.

The last official stock version is 4.1.2, like I said before. If you want newer versions, you need custom ROMs. Note that there is an expected upgrade to 4.4.x which should come fairly soon, but hey, it's LG, so no solid ETAs. It will come when it comes...

well yeah, last thing since I don't think this has been answered yet, can I flash to other E975 roms from my current setup? (F180K converted to E975) or do I have to use roms made specifically for F180K devices?

Sweet ROMs in the international forum

Hadn't been over there in quite a while, but the N7105 forums have some sweet ROMs if you're looking for a change that should work fine on our phones...
Currently running "CM Remix" which has everything but the kitchen sink for an AOSP rom, and so far seems very smooth and stable

They should all be safe to flash. Same hardware on the internal LTE variant.
The build.prop and APNs may vary slightly, but many of the ROMs in this forum are exactly the same as their international versions anyway

By checking for a modem in the zip as the n7105 modem isn't compatible with AT&T or t-mobile. If modem is in the zip I usually just replace with proper modem for your carrier.

No since it's AT&T you will need an AT&T modem in the phone as any other modem will cause an unknown baseband.

Got it, thanks!
Still running the ROM I mentioned in the OP, and it has too many features and too few flaws (none!) for me to try any other!
New build made yesterday - gonna try that, though
BTW, didn't have to change anything to get it optimized for the ATT model- even the APNs were all set up (unless maybe I restored settings that I wasn't aware of)...
1st Nov 2014 (ver 3.0.5.0 STABLE Fix)
Kernel : bundled with latest agni kernel ( Boeffla Sound version with new wifi module)
Update SuperSu to ver 2.16
native support to F2FS (no need to flash any convertor, native support F2FS partition of System. Internal data and Cache partition)
Fixed ART mode * (1 st Nov 2014)

Should be fine! Just back up as you always would with TWRP and make sure you backup the modem as well. That way you'll always have one backed up if you need it just in case...
Yep, as long a modem isn't included in the zip (which it *typically* isn't in the case of AOSP based roms), you're good to go.
I personally don't even flash t0lteatt roms when they're available and instead use their t0lte counterparts, as the t0lte versions are sometimes more likely to be updated more often (and in some cases the t0lteatt device tree has been abandoned entirely!)
And if anyone's wanting to build a rom from source, while we're on the topic of AOSP roms, the t0lte tree is the way to go as far as the Galaxy Note 2 LTE models are concerned.

What reminded me to check the international forum was when I went to deactivate my old phones in Google Play Music, I noticed most of them were listed as an N7105- and all of the ROMs were downloaded from this forum anyway...
I was wondering about trying Roms from that forum too. I kept seeing posts where someone said something about a DN4 Rom. So I looked it up and downloaded..........only to find that it is not one of the Roms that works on our phone.......as of yet. It did flash and start up, but before I could make it past the welcome screen, I got a bunch of pop-ups about various items "quit working." And they kept coming back. And then I had the unknown baseband with no signal.................basically it just doesn't work. Damn shame too, cause it looked so nice. But this did make me look at the other Roms and I will be trying a few of them. I must say though, DN4 had my mouth watering for the GN4 experience on my 2.

[Q] Can I flash international firmware on my ATT LG G3 850?

All,
Wondering what is the general rule of thumb about flashing the international firmware(think they on M version now?) and flashing the 855 Roms? How badly will this effect my 850 At&t G3? Can I even doing it without bricking my phone?
Thanks for any opinion.

Unless said otherwise, you should never flash a ROM that was made for a different version of the one you own.
Also, chances are that it won't even let you flash it cause of the updater-script (fail safe).
Got it! So I'm pretty much stuck with waiting for AT&T to update the firmware of my phone. I'm more concerned about firmware rather than ROM's since the AT&T version is still on the 'D' version of LG's firmware and the international version already on 'N'. Would like to update the firmware ASAP to fix some bugs.

[Q] G3 D857 no 4G signal

My G3 is D857 and I bought it from China. I can't find 4G LTE signal in the US. The carrier is T-mobile. I've tried both settings in the *#*#4636#*#* and 3845#*857#. Neither did work. I also tried to search the lte config.apk in the Root Explorer, but I couldn't find it. The device has been rooted. The software info is as follows:
Android 4.4.2
Baseband: MPSS.DI.3.0.c6.2-00008-M8974AAAAANAZM-1
Software version: D85710c-CUO-CN
Can anyone fix this problem? I'd appreciate it very much.
Hi there.
Are you on KK or Lollipop?
From the Modem number I suspect that you have a KK Modem/Baseband. [when I was on KK I had a 00008 modem. v20h is 00048]
If you are already on Lollipop, you ought to flash the v20h Modem which is the adequate one.
You can use Search on the Forum and get v20h.
You should then notice changes.
Thx a lot for your reply.
It's KK now.
Do u mean that the KK does not support 4G LTE on my phone?

No it probably means the phone doesnt support the frequency that T-Mobile runs its 4G network on. T-Mobile's 4G network runs on 1700 mhz and 2100mhz while the phone only supports networks running on 800/1800 and 2600 mhz
and please do not listen to the person, V20H is only for D855 variant. Please do not think flashing random things from other varians onto your phone will work.
It will result in brick and youll wont be able to do anything about it since US LG Service Centers dont repair international variants
