That web page is bogus. They never mentioned the fact that it will only work on the Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Developer Edition phone. You should read the comments. They were not very nice to the writer of the article.

I'd probably be upset too, just for the fact of potentially messing someones phone up for afew extra coinage. I mean the writer probably knew that there is a high demand for root for this phone and didn't mention it cause if he didn't he thought he would get more views/hits to his article.

Galaxy Nexus - AT&T

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=galaxy_nexus_hspa
I know there's GSM support for it. I'm unfamiliar with AOSP devices. Will there be, or is there good developer support for the device when used with AT&T? I'm coming from a SGS 2 SkyRocket.
If you're not using the GSM version on AT&T there's probably no reason for you to be a troll.
Have you seriously not read a thread or news article in the last 24 hours?
That's not an AT&T Galaxy Nexus. Its an unlocked i9250 GSM model. Works on AT&T, T-Mobile, or any GSM carrier in the US/World. Its the same (save for pre-installed Google Wallet) as the European model that's been sold for the last 5+ months.
Seriously?
Google Officially Selling Galaxy Nexus GSM in USA via Play Store ($399)
On the first page of this forum.
I understand that... The phone will work on AT&T. Never said AT&T is selling it. FFS I linked to the Google page for it.
I just seen this today. The question is: is it worth it? If there's not going to be any developers working on it. It's probably not worth it to me. I'd probably just get the SGS 3.

Please just leave this thread and go join the other ones. You clearly have not read about the device, because it is the EXACT SAME as the other ones. It won't be a special phone that requires different ROMs or development. The phone has been on sale for over 5 months.

No, we're not trolls, we're just tired of people that are uninformed creating irrelevant, duplicate threads before searching or even reading the titles of the threads on the first page of the forum.
Obviously this phone has developer support, it's a Nexus. It doesn't matter what freaking SIM card you put in the back of it, its still the same device. GSM device support is GSM device support. Read. Please!

FFS ppl the OP was just asking a question. Yes the GN sold by Google is supported by AOSP and will have [email protected]!# ton of ROM and development going for a long time
Per your suggestion I've looked through the last 5 pages and there's a couple that's semi similar to mine. The official announcement: which I could try to start a conversation there and it get lost in the general chatter about it, and another question like mine but about the battery. I could hijack his thread. That would be cool? Instead of trolling, which most of the replies have been, you could have said something like "I seen a post earlier that might help out". The replies have been absolute crap. If you're tired of seeing it ignore it.
I'm Never used an AOSP device, or an international device. Before I bought it I thought I would come over kick up a conversation with some people that have a GN and ask some questions. General stuff about development on it. Is there a difference between this one and the international version.
The way you people responded to someone that has never been in this specific device's forum, or messed with any variant of the device before is not right.

Thank you!! I'll talk to you.
Thinking about buying it. Never used or paid much attention to AOSP devices because AT&T doesn't sell them. Are there any catches coming from Non-AOSP devices? I wasn't sure if there's any catches to using the international GSM roms with AT&T. Completely clueless here. I don't necessarily have time to read every post for 10 pages. Looking for a general overview of my questions.
You asked a really obvious question which is why people are responding to you the way they are. The question also doesn't make much sense since it is hard to believe that you this little about this phone. I think you are asking if the Galaxy Nexus works well with AT&T. The answer is yes. It also works well with any GSM network provider. There is good development for this phone, and nothing has to be or will be unique to AT&T.
There's no catches to using this phone with AT&T. Everything works great. Well actually, there are a few catches, I wouldn't get this phone if you were hoping to have:
1. Delayed software updates, or no updates at all
2. Terrible superimposed user interface that is more buggy
3. Lots of bloatware like AT&T Navigator just in case you wanted to pay AT&T for something Google gives for free and does a better job at.
If you are looking for any of those, then yeah, that's the only catch.
Why would I every look into a phone that I can't use? It has nice specs. I can't use it. Close. What's obvious to you isn't so obvious to someone else. Maybe it's all exactly the same as what I'm used to, or maybe there's some stuff you you "just know from experience" that I wouldn't know.
I read your post twice and I have no idea what you were trying to say.

Maybe a better question is: "Do the GSM ROMS work correctly on AT&T without any catches? If there is a catch are the developer pretty quick to help fix, or do the developers ignore AT&T"
I know this is not a primary AT&T device so I know the support is going to be back burner. I just want to know how back burner it is.

This is what I'm saying. You have a very very weak understanding of how this works. Do you really think that there are specific ROMs and tweaks for all of the dozens of carriers people are using this device on? Its an unlocked GSM device. There's no special software needed. You put in your SIM card.
Developers suppor the device. Not the network.

[Q] Where does one find help or docs on a new app like the 4.2 camera

I have downloaded and installed the new 4.2 camera app on my GNex. My question is sort of simple. Where does one find instructions on how to use it? In particular, I am looking for documentation on the new "sphere" feature.

Are you saying that you know the information is not yet available? That is helpful. Otherwise saying "if it is not available then it is not available" is an unhelpful tautology.
I think that the 4.2 camera app is available on a few of the new tablets that just got announced. It is not unreasonable to ask if there is any info on usage or features.

As for your "situation", you can just learn it yourself by messing around with all the options. It's not likes it's going to kill YOU if YOU do the legwork YOURSELF instead of asking us to do the work for you.

I really don't understand why you guys are all dumping on me. I asked a simple question and a link or quick suggestion would have sufficed. I clearly am capable of doing my own legwork or I would not be running a custom ROM on an unlocked phone and finding and installing an unreleased app.

It's because of 1) your question and 2) your responses.
You're asking if anyone has a link to help about something that isn't released. When you were told there isn't such a thing yet, you sounded like a whinny little kid and said "no, I don't want to. Do it for me". How else do you think rue XDA community (who is known for not searching and asking to be spoonfed as well as dumping on said people) is going to respond?

Because you are wanting bleeding edge unreleased software. This comes at a price and that price is you are part of the first ones using it, so of course there is no documentation. It essentially is a beta, it isn't even promised to work let alone have a users guide for it yet. Maybe in a couple months someone will write a guide telling you what the buttons do.
I tried to help inform you but your general rudeness and 'whining' is making me not want to bother and apparently is having the same effect on others that are normally very helpful users here.

Have you tried it?? It's pretty self explanatory, what are your questions? Also, Google is not well known for documenting their features.
Has anybody tried searching on Google ?

How much does it take?

So I have stumbled upon a problem with rooting/unlocking the boot loader for the Verizon variant of the mot z play. I've seen posts and other tutorials asking for a solution. But I see a similar reply to those questions: that it isn't going to happen due to the lack of dev support. So I am creating this thread to ask the developers what we (the ones who want root for moto z play Verizon) can do to get their full attention on, not just the moto z play, but all Verizon variants. So Devs What do you want? and Owners, What can you give?

Maybe but one can try to find one. And with luck catch it.
From what I understand, Verizon bootloaders are not unlockable. They have only seen to gotten more strict with this over time. I would recommend getting a non-verizon or att variant of every phone in the future.
"Not Unlock-able" is not in the vocabulary of the hacking world. I know someone some where can crack the boot-loader its only a matter of time and effort. Anything can be cracked.

In a theoretical sense that's likely true. But it may require more time, money and resources than are available to the Devs on XDA. I think the point is, if you buy a locked Verizon or AT&T device, don't count on an unlock ever being available, especially if you aren't paying the salary of the guy working on it.

Rogers S9+ - Which Processor Version

Hey everyone.
I'm new to rooting. Haven't touched this site in several years. I was wondering what type (snapdragon/Exynos) the Rogers Canada S9+ is, and what would be the steps, or link, to root it? Thanks
Rogers s9+ has a snapdragon soc. If you want to root it sell it and buy the international s9+ with an exynos soc.
So you're essentially saying this can't be rooted?

Snapdragon root ever possible?

So I got a great deal from sprint about half off a S20u And I jumped thinking I'd be able to root it. it's already been 30 days and I'm going to return the device since I thought it would be able to be rooted. will a root ever be available. What device can I purchase from a US carrier that is able to be rooted and remove the bloat.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Samsung to offer an unlocked bootloader on any US variants. There are no US Carrier Branded or US Unbranded devices which can be unlocked. If you want no bloatware then the US Unbranded device is an option but if you need root you'll have to consider a Snapdragon International or Exynos Global variant. On these devices Carrier Aggregation and Warranty Repair would be challenging at best.

Will the bootloader be unlocked in the future, is that a possibility, haven't been on the forums in 7-8 years. This phone is incredible, but the bloatware makes it useless kills battery can't disable apps. Someone help im over 30 days and don't know if I wanna return. I'm paying $15USD/MONTH FOR 18 MONTHS with buyout for $250USD so it's quite an offer to refuse. But I need root access and a custom rom on THIS baby!

The only one who can answer this is a well placed Samsung Executive, certainly not a CSR. No one has a crystal ball in this regard but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. Bloatware is the downside when you acquire a Carrier Branded Device and the $$$ you saved lose their value in the long run. Nowadays most carriers offer decent pricing on month to month prepaid without a long term commitment. Better off IMHO to wait a few months for price drops and feedback before purchasing any device. Saving a couple hundred on a smartphone you really weren't suited for doesn't add up.

But if he can't or won't share how he achieved it, then whatever...it is what it is. But nowhere did I see him say he needed you to defend him, especially AFTER he already responded.
I'm done with the topic now though... moving on...

just because someone achieves something and let ppl know it is possible but cant provide details for understandable reasons such rules is not in any way bragging about anything.
I dont make the rules on here, in fact I support the rules and enforce them even considering I am a moderator.
Just because someone doesn't want to tell you details (because its simply not allowed) doesn't give you the right to judge people and post negatively about them in public. If you have any issues with me or anyone else I suggest you send them a PM next time.
Showing people that it is possible gives hope to those who feel it is imppssible and hopefully encourages them to keep at it.
I have no reason to lie to anyone and as you can tell uf you did any research on my past activities/posts you should see that every time I achieved root I posted freely to XDA so everyone could take advantage of it. So hopefully you understand if I could post publicly I would have already done so.
I did try to help people out and had them PM me and was advised not to do so even via PM because it is a paid service of which selling these types of services are not allowed on XDA. It is a paid service because the means to unlock the bootloader requires a purchase from a third party. There is no way to provide a "free" method as well as said service is device specific so there is no universal method and each unlock is tied to one device.
Think of it similar to those websites that offer sim unlocks. They are paid services tailored to one specific device. Paid services are not allowed on XDA since typically people use these methods to profit and in the past there have been a number of shady schemes hence why rules were formulated.
I hope this clears things up and you refrain from name calling and negatice remarks to people such as your last comment I quoted.

Instead of complaining take the initiative and hit someone up on telegram that you know has done this and im sure they would be glad to guide you too the proper place. Like elliwigy said it’s against xda rules to post such stuff here so why complain about it here. There are threads in s10 and s20 threads with people posting stuff for US unlocked bootloader phones. Hit those people up on telegram or outside of xda because people want too abide by the rules of xda and xda does not want this stuff posted on their forums.
