Ok, the issue is that I forgot my password for my phone so it took me to the screen where you can either enter a backup pin, which I forgot, or your google details which I remember. The thing is my phone still says invalid username/password despite me changing the password on my computer to something else and double checking the username. this means my phone is useless as I can't use it. what do I do to fix this issue!

I went ahead and secured my phone with a password "sher" specifically. (if you understand the reference, you're awesome) and when I tried putting the password it says its incorrect.

nevermind, for some reason it still had my last password even though it was a pin number, weird.
basically.. have an old phone of mine, and it used to have the pattern based password.. turned it on to retrieve all the data before trashing.. and its now a number based password.. tried everything it could be.. says last chance before data deletion. worried that i'll lose all my stuff..
DINC, skyraider rom.. tried a reboot and the password count is still there.
TLDR;Old phone, rooted/rom'd.. plugged in.. failed password 8/8.. last chance it says before deleting data
I've never run that ROM before, so I can't be too sure on this. But most Android phones/ROMs are tied to a Google/Gmail account. You should be able to unlock it using that account and password.
Failing that, you could plug it into a pc, and use adb to pull your data off.
Somehow my password pattern is suddenly not detectable and it shows as wrong password. As there is no more option in lollipop for "forgot password" and using the gmail account to log in. How do I reset the password on a HTC M8 without doing a reset? I've tried logging into the google account, and I can use the "find" option in the device manager to locate the device, but if i press the "lock" button and try to enter a new password, for a split second it says "We have sent a lock request to the device", but then it says "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password you entered won't be needed." Wtf is going on? I am stuck with a pattern locked phone of whose password i know but the phone doesnt detect it anymore. Is there another way to reset the password?

Let me start by saying that this is a delicate matter, what if the device is stolen and somebody wants to get the info or device to work without wiping it. I know that this is probably not your intention and that it is hard to prove otherwise. But the possibility could be there in the worst case scenario !
Now don't get the above personal, it's written from another point of view, as i am running HTC phones for the past 6 years and never encountered this all of a sudden at any point. So from my point of view i find it difficult to believe.
To get to your point ...... not sure if it can be done otherwise but to reset the device. Depends if it's rooted or not for instance ?

According to the story, looks like either : 3rd party apps are interfering (can also be malware/virus) OR someone physically got hold of the device and changed the password(perhaps he thinks its his own)
Try restarting the device while holding the volume up button only, android will go into safe mode and disable all 3rd party apps. If the password still doesn't work, then you have 2 options:
1) if S-ON : factory reset and lose all user data
2) if S-OFF or bootloader unlocked: remove password (this is the most details I can give without being an accomplice)
I have a second space issue, and i hope someone can help me out. i have pictures of my deceased grandmother in my second space, but the problem is that when i enter my password it shows "too many incorrect attempts and 85000 seconds to try again. i go back and try again the correct password same message and the second still on countdown. there is " forgot password" and it doesnt give any options except to how to wipe the data. Is there any other way to retrieve picture through the phone on a laptop or i should root it so i have complete acces? thank you any advice would be extremely appriciated

when i enter my correct password its shows the message with wrong attempts and starts at 85000 seconds, if i try again in a minute its 84940 seconds. so i though 85k second is almost 24 hours, so i waited 24 hours and then it starts at 85000 seconds again.
Is resetting the password as the link I posted suggested an option?
there is no forgot password option, even before entering password. i had it twice that forgot password showed up, i click on it and then it suggests how to wipe data, no other option as suggested in your link

Make sure the bootloader is unlocked before attempting anything

No, I don't know. But I can guess if you like.
However it is probably protected, so you might need root.
Try looking under /storage/emulated, possibly under /mnt/user.

Month ago I decided to put passcode for my RedMagic 5G device. I couldn't find any other option but (pattern) So i place it, after that i got the (finger print) option so i tried to place it but in order to do so i would have to put the pattern. I put the pattern it gave me (wrong password) message i tried couple of times it didn't work.
Searched in Google and i read "if its locked, after few fail attempts it will give me to recover password using google account"
So i locked it kept trying but it never show me the "google option" it just kept adding more cool down time for the next attempt.
I deleted the device from my google acct. I format it (wipe data) all my data gone and it still require the pattern.
i format it multiple times and pattern still require.
to the point it got in loop mood and got stuck on retrieve data ,I flashed it with ROM. the problem solved but still require the pattern.
i format it after the new ROM but still require pattern.
PLEASE help what i should do now?
and would root fix the problem?
