[Q] Copying Music - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hi,
Can anyone advise if there is another way to transfer music to the SW3 ??
I can transfer using the walkman / play music app but this is by bluetooth and I sooo slow.
As the watch is android based is there any way to connect this to a computer and copy and paste music across as you do with an Android phone ??

I bet you could do it through WiFi.

i have the latest firmware which allows me to connect via wifi.
There does'nt seem to be a way to force the sync by wifi.
unless someone knows different.

In PC Companion there is a Module Media Go. There you can copy Media to the phone
EDIT: sorry, no way for smartwatch. Have tried

as this based on android I hope this gets fixed soon ! - copying music via bluetooth as a pain !

What about establishing file explorer? Adb should work too.

sorry but i'm not sure what you mean ?

Sorry, es file explorer is what I meant. Adb will definitely work though, check my directions in the moving files thread.

If you have copied files (music and pictures) in your watch this is great app for playing music or see pictures on wear:

dude.. you can do this via usb to transfer the music.... just need the usb data cable and it mounts on your Windows/Apple/Linux OS.
Just a simple drag a drop...
Hope this helps!

No you can't. You either use adb. Or Sony walkman app. Or Google music app.

okay.. I was thinking of the gear s which you can transfer via usb then relying on the phone or app.

This cannot happen because there is no way to mount the watch. It does not contain mtp or any other direct access software. If you have a Mac, it is possible that the native camera app could mount it (forget what it is called, but could find out). Renate made an app that uses adb to keep a folder synced to your device. I can link to that if you want. It lets you add music to any folder (or you can specify the folder where your music already lives) and it will sync when you connect to the watch. That and es file explorer are really the only ways. Oh, using WiFi, perhaps Google drive, drop box, and/or Amazon music could work. All of those apps would need to be sideloaded.
So, as you can see, some hacking will need to be involved. Sorry.

data cable ????

[Q] Streaming music over wireless onto your desire?

I would like to know if there is any app that can stream music over wireless to my Desire.
I have my Pc in one room and a stereo with a line-in in the living room. So now I would like to be able to get the Mp3s from my PC to my desire so that I can hear it in the living room. Ideally I would like all sounds transferred, Mp3 player, youtube and the beep for incoming messages etc. but I would already be happy if its just the output of the mp3 player (i use winamp).
If I had to I would even install some other mp3 player on my Pc.
Sorry if this was asked before. I searched and did not quite find the answer.
If you have your music folder shared on your LAN, then EStrongs File Explorer is able to stream and play music on your phone.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.estrongs.android.pop
When the application is running, you can see a butten (typically) named "Local" in the top right corner. Press it and select "LAN". Then press menu --> New --> Server to add your music server to the phone. You can the explore the newly added server and stream music directly to your phone.
Of course, EStrongs File Explorer can much more than the above. It is a file explorer first of all. But a good one none the less
Ok, first off: good call on the File Explorer, that is pretty sweet.
Being able to get to all your shared stuff from your phone, top
Just one more question, when it comes to music, i navigate to the folder, click on the song and it plais, but only just that one song. Is there a way to use a number of files or a folder?
or can I make my standard music player on my Desire access a folder somehow?
EStrongs File Explorer is, to my knowledge, only capable of playing one song at the time. If you need playlist support, playing of folder etc., then you will need another program.
The application named EyeconTroller may be a possibility. I, however, have only used it together with a DLNA server (Windowns Media Player, Mezzmo etc) running on the computer where the music files are located. I am not sure if EyeconTroller can access shared folders on the LAN (folders not shared by DLNA).

why not mount the music folder using cifs manager? it will give you transparent file streaming. i've used it to access my movie collection on my laptop.

That application requires root. Not everyone has rooted their phone.
(My phone is rooted, will try out the application)
Have you tried Subsonic (subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp )? With it you can stream music from your PC over the internet, from any web browser. It also has android app.It even can transcode FLAC to mp3.

Look up Jinzora
It's a jukebox server you run on your computer. It's free, easy to set up and although you can access through a browser there's a client app in Market

Itunes alternative

Is there a program I can use as Itunes, sync it to all the music stored on my PC (even though Apple has rearranged it and taken over)?

iSyncr try that
I using MediaMonkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com/) to sync my music from pc with HOX. It can also sync music from I devices as well.
Thanks guys.
Windows Media Player (Free and built-in to Windows) also works. I actually use WMP to sync to a USB drive that I leave plugged into my computer, and then use FolderSync on my phone to automatically sync with that drive over WiFi.
You could also try Google Music: upload your music collection (free for storing up to 20.000 songs) into the cloud, and download locally on your phone what you want to listen.
Google Music is US only at the moment, but you can find some tutorials on how to use it outside of the US.
JP.
I like Double Twist. Very nice interface on the Android app, with the added bonus of serving as an airplay source, so I can stream music and video from the One X to my XBMC setup via wifi. The desktop app is quite simple, but has wifi sync and a number of other good features.
From what I know the closest (aside from the ones mentioned above) application to iTunes is DoubleTwist
use mediamonkey with playerpro on the device, then, using the sync back ratings extension in MM, you can accurately record plays, skips and ratings back to MM. you can then build smart playlists to exclude tracks you have skipped many times and have the device sync'd to that playlist.
How about an App that fools Itunes into thinking the X is an iPod? I guess that's impossible lol
use notpod. im using it with my one x to itunes. works a treat
Doubletwist products are on sale on the market right now
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I tried Notpod, it was overly complicated. Doubletwist cured my ills in seconds
I stick with Media Monkey to,i think is the best out there at this moment (i even forgot about winamp since i am using MM).
I use my ipod to play music in my car's head unit...is there an app and cable that enables me to use my phone instead, including album art?
I use doubletwist with air sync. In my opinion itunes is one of the most hideous programs ever written.

Hell yeah, i hate it with a passion, so pointlessly complicated.
I know it's an old thread, but I've just decided to make that jump too, so tried MediaMonkey and found its layout to be out of date and unhelpful as well as ugly, just trying Double twist now.

Well that didn't last long, in the 4 years since this thread, Double Twist only works in tandem with iTunes not as a replacement. So the search continues....

Why not try something universal like Syncthing if you want to run the service via wifi?
Or FreeFileSync or DirSync Pro if you prefer using the usb cable.
In perfect conditions you should get max 300mps = 37.5 MB/s via wifi versus via usb 480mps = 60 MB/s.
You don't need the library support that Itunes give you. Android supports file managing. Most media player apps support both library view with metadata from either .cue etc or embedded in the file, and file folder view.

[Q] Desktop MP3 tag editor for MP3's stored on GS3?

I need to edit the tags on some MP3 files on my GS3. I've tried Tag & Rename, but it doesn't recognize the device when connected via USB.
Can someone point me to a good desktop app for editing MP3's on my phone via USB connection. I know there are some apps that can do this, but I have quite a few and doing it on the phone can be a strain. I would also like to avoid offloading all the files from the phone- editing them- and reloading them..
Thanks..

No go.. It sees songs on the computer just fine but not on the device..
Thanks anyway..
This app (DroID3Tagger) isn't a desktop app but a Play Store app that tags your music automatically, I've used it a few times and can say it will tag most songs accurately but does take a while to complete. It'd be easy to leave it tagging music files overnight.
you could try these apps. iTag and MP3dit (both in playstore). iTag helps you find album art as well

[Q] .mp3s in Music folder aren't showing up in Music app?

I don't understand why. I've put other songs in there that have worked just fine, but I've added the new QOTSA songs on my phone and they won't show up in the Sense Music app. Not sure what the problem is.
mp3 tags, check that

Just use any media scanning app from the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clypher.mediascanner&hl=en
or use the media scanning feature in "Trickster MOD" if you have root access..
Happened to me a couple of days ago. Noticed that the music not showing in the library was copied over the Wi-Fi and not using USB cable. Deleted the files and copied them with USB and voalla .hope that helps.

[Q] I am looking for an App

I am looking for an App that I can stream the media of music and videos I have on my PC and I have tried the Plex and not all of my media showed up though that App at all
If Plex didn't work then either there is an error somewhere in how you created the Plex Sections and pointed them to your media folders or your file names aren't close enough to the Plex conventions for Plex to identify them. It's also possible that the media is in a codec or container that Plex can't work with, like .iso or .rar.
Have you tried Kodi? Both Plex and Kodi are pretty flawless for me (pointed to the same folders on my PC), but my media is (1) entirely videos and (2) pretty vanilla in terms of codecs and containers.
Mizuu is also excellent for movies and TV shows (if they are named correctly), I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything with music.
I have Kodi but I couldn't get it find my media on my computer
Have you Shared the folders on your PC that hold your videos and music? Then in Kodi, assuming you were using the default Confluence skin, were you able to go to Videos/Files/Add Videos (or Movies, then hit the double period a couple of times to go up the folder structure, then Add Videos), choose Browse and then choose Windows network (SMB) to find your PC and the folders on your PC?
---------- Post added at 09:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:07 PM ----------
FYI, when I do that I have to log into my PC with my username and password (the first time, I make sure I check the box telling Kodi to remember it), and Kodi always says it fails. Then I exit Kodi and follow the same path again and it remembers and let's me finish adding the folder I want.

This is what I kept missing. G
Should work fine using "Windows Network (SMB)" , then "Workgroup", then your pc \ laptop name.

Or you can use bubbleupnp but there's a paid version and the free one might have limitations.
