Hey Guys,
I am running the Cell Pro 9.5 ROM and since yesterday my phone doesnt turn on.
So this is what happened, I never got a chance to recharge my phone yesterday and so I used it to the very last bit of juice. The phone kept switching itself off with the critical level battery warning and I kept turning it back on. So it got to a point where it wasn't switching on at all. So I pluged in the phone to the computer to charge and left it there for approximately an hour (the orange charging light was on), came back and tried to switch the phone back on and it didnt respond at all. Took out the battery, tried the soft reset button etc and everything else I thought of with no luck. So I plugged it back on and suddently it turned back on, did the boot up, loaded the touchflo and I saw the battery level was at "0" and then suddenly it turned of with a "tuck" sound (similar to a PC when you hold down the power button or turn the power off without shutting down). This has been repeating since then, I have left it plugged in and every 5-10 minutes or so the phone switches on by itself and shows the boot screen, go all the way till HTC animation and powers off suddenly. I have had no luck in turning the phone back on, I dont what is causing the issue - wether its the battery or the phone.
Please give me your thoughts....I am completely lost without my phone...
- issue was that the phone kept restarting as soon as the battery stored enough charge for a reboot. I pulled out the battery at one of the restart cycle as advised below and stopped it from repeating it. After that the phone let the battery charge without a restart, did not mess with it for a long while.
Never let the battery drain all the way down to 0%. Not sure if it affects the battery, but it sure will give you enough hassle that you wont repeat it.

The same thing happened to me last night... but mine works now. what I thought it was is that it kept turning on as soon as it had enough battery to do so then it would die and repeat... So every time it would turn on
I would take the battery out and let it charge some more and then when it quit turning back on I left it overnight and now its on...

Ok....I will try that and report back....
Sorry you pull the battery then the cord then put the battery back in then cord. Also it will take a lot longer if you charge it on the computer.
Never mind mine quit working again...

I managed to get it charging after pulling out the battery and putting it back again. Charged it through a computer cause i dont have my charger with me.
I turned it on and the battery said 40% and now every second or so it is dropping by 1%. I can literally watch it dropping down sitting here. The phone doesnt want to charge when it is on. I plug in the usb and the LED turns orange and then turns off. Now the battery is at 25%, This is litterally in about a minute or less. I dont know whats wrong, is it the Battery?
I had this exact same thing happen to me twice on previous HTC hardware (wizard). The first time I couldn't save it and just had to buy a new battery. However, the second time it happened I was able to resurrect it once I got it plugged into a higher-current charging source, like the wall charger it came with, or even most car chargers (that's how I saved it when I couldn't get to my wall charger). I had to let it sit on there for about an hour before it held enough charge to stay on, and another 2 hours before it was fully charged, but it worked just fine after that.
You battery may indeed be toast from what you describe. I have had the experience of totally discharging the battery and the device not coming on at all. I recommend that if you do this, you should fully charge it using the wall charger NOT the computer (if the computer works at all. it didnt in my case). I have done this a few times now and the battery turned out fine each time.

Thanks.....
My issue seamed to be fixed. I had to rely on a computer as I didnt have access to my charger and by the time I did my phone was at approximately 65% charge. I plugged it in and charged it all the way to 100%. Replugged it and left it for a little more while to make sure it got charged completely. I have been using it since today morning 9am and now it is 2pm at 73% after couple of calls, messages and emails.
Few more charging cycles with the wall charger and I am hoping it will be back to normal.
Hey,
I'm in a bit of a panic ...
my cell phone ran out of battery life. When I came hame I pressed the power button and he showed the boot screen. Then I plugged him in en left him there for a while. Now , coming back, I tried to boot again but nothing happens. When he's unplugged from the power socket, he doesn't do anything at all, not even bootloader. When I plug hiim in he get's into a loop. He boots(shows black Touch Pro2 sign, red led goes out) then he immediatelly goes to black screen again (red led goes on again) and does this in a loop. Also when I can get to bootloader (rainbow screen) for 3 seconds, power off instantly again)...
I have done a HardSPL and installed Energy Rom 2 weeks ago..;everything worked fine (more or less, had at least 1 crash every two days, but better then the crash every day with stock rom)...
A phone of 600 euro's, I hope it's not bricked Any solution or can I send it in for repairs like this? Rom flashing voids warranty I suppose?
Tom
This is common when the battery is below a certain threshhold. Until it is charged above that the phone will not boot. If the battery is not taking a charge then it's time for a new battery. Yes, a non=OEM ROM will void your warrnty. Do not send it in for service with anything but the stock ROM and no HardSPL on it.
but why does it boot by itself, when plugged in, followed by power off within 2 seconds? There was nothing wrong with battery before this? Shouldn't it be a steady decline instead of being wasted just at once?
It will try to boot, but the phone will not run on just the AC power and if the battery is too low it will go into a reboot loop. LioN batteries can just go bad and stop taking a charge. That's why I have 2.
Are you near a place that has this phone in stock ? or a friend that has one ? if so go there and ask them to let you use the battery for a minute, power the phone up completely , then shut it down properly, take out battery, then put your old battery back in , do not power it on , fully charge it. You should be good to go...
after leaving the battery out for a night, he charged normally and booted normally...fieuw..bit strange, but will not ask any questions about it ...thanx for all the help!!!
Yeah, I knew it eventually would. Happened to me once. I think it has less to do with the battery and more to do with a glitch in the phone reporting that the battery level is low upon boot when it really isn't.
Hi,
my Xperia S (CM10.1)
is kinda stuck in charging, and won't charge or boot normal.
The device was working all fine. 2 days ago i drained the battery totally and when got home put it on the charger.
Then i booted it while on charger still charging, after 1 minute it restarted by itself.
After a couple minutes charging it boots up by itself, on screen it says "connect charger" which is connected.
Then i decided to "power off" the device and let it charge for a while, after a while i started it , after booting it still said: connect charger.
After a minute it did same, restart by itself , loop.
I then took it off power and left it all night of power, today i left it all day on charger, while turned off.
And tonight i went to look at it, it still shows a red little light in off state, and doesn't want to turn on.
Is something wrong with battery? has anyone have this problem?
Have you tried soft reset?? (Vol+ and power button for 10 second)
yes, that don't work (no response)
ok, i got it to reboot into recovery
i will let it in recovery mode for some hours, to see if it will charge in this mode.
i thought there was some battery reset function in the recovery mode? cant seem to find it.
TWRP recovery
ok , good news, just restarted,
screen says now 44% charged and is charging again!
don't know how it got stuck in a non charging mode, quite weird.
lucky i got into recovery mode where it could charge.

Sometimes it happen for me when I completely drain my battery. But not that long. Most of the times 5-6 hours.

Hello my ion died last week. Before it went dead it would just turn off within a min of being turned on. My phone isn't rooted or anything but what could it be? I tried charging over night but it doesn't turn on at all. Could the battery be defective because I got this phone around Oct. Nov. of last year. I got the TL now but I still want this fix because it has all my videos and pictures on the internal SD card.
BACKGROUND:
At first, it just started turning off for no reason (probably a month and a half ago).
Then this week, it would start to randomly turn off, and start vibrating constantly when charging. After fiddling with the buttons, it would eventually find itself into download mode and then later turn itself on.
NOW:
Monday morning, after several days of draining the battery to 0% (due to me solely charging it for an hour a day), the phone went dead. Then, that night, upon trying to charge it and turn it on, it remained stuck on a black screen. After taking out the battery, it would continuously beep while still connected to the charger. As soon as I put in the battery, it would become COMPLETELY unresponsive, with and without the charger. After fiddling with it for over an hour, I put it down and slept, leaving the battery and charge in the phone.
Tuesday morning, I clicked the power button, and the phone flashed to the lock screen. It displayed it was at 0% battery, but I think it showed a charging sign. I used the phone for almost 2 minutes, checking my texts, before it again went completely black. The phone became completely unresponsive (no beeping or anything, regardless of anything I did). I connected it to a wall charger again, and left it there for the entire afternoon.
Then when I picked it up at around 6 o clock, I discovered that the continuous beeping stopped, and it would only beep after holding the power button for around 5 seconds. It could beep regardless of whether the battery was out or not.
After charging it all that night, I found I could make it flash the Samsung logo for a fraction of a second after holding down both volume buttons and the power button. I looked it up, and supposedly it brings you to recovery mode, but I believe my phone is switching off immediately after bringing up the logo.
At around 12, Tuesday night, I again decided to hold down the power button (just to reassure myself of it still somewhat functioning), and it powered on for around ten seconds (!!!) . It got all the way to the end of the pink loading bar screen, but then beeped and restarted. The second time, it lasted only around three seconds, without even getting to the loading bar screen, before powering off. It became completely unresponsive afterwards, no beeping, regardless of where it was charging and whether the battery was in or not.
Wednesday morning (today), after having left it charge all night, the phone still was completely unresponsive. I then left it to charge the entire afternoon (until now), and it was still completely unresponsive. I took it apart and played around with the power button, but it didn't seem to be stuck. I've now put it back together and leaving it connected to the wall charger once again.
What I've Tried:
Tried connecting it to Kies (computer doesn't even recognize it)
Tried putting into Recovery Mode (unresponsive)
Tried putting into Download Mode (unresponsive)
Switched chargers (unresponsive)
Held power button (beeps, now doesn't do anything)
Held both volume buttons and power button (beeps then quickly flashes samsung logo)
Cleaned off some of the micro usb lint with a tooth pick (coincided with the stopping of continuous beeping, not sure if it caused it)
What I think it could be:
Faulty power button (this is what I thought it was, but now it's not vibrating)
Faulty battery (I kept draining to 0%, but if this is the problem, it doesn't explain the phone not displaying anything when it's connected to a charger w/o battery inside)
Faulty usb charging port (I've heard it sometimes causes vibration problems. wouldnt explain the restarting).
Fried motherboard (phone has had some water damage, but I'm not sure if it's the MOBO, considering its symptoms)
HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Not Alone
hey, this isnt really an answer, but maybe something to bump this up. Mine went last night.... won't boot, won't charge... goes into download mode but no matter how many times i switch cables, install Samsung drivers, install Keis, or anything imaginable- i cannot get it to communicate with my PC. if i could i would be able to fix this problem.
i really hope that someone will take a look at these issues and give some input. my call to Samsung was useless, i wasted hours with redundancy. I bought the phone used off Ebay in mint condition... have taken it apart and cleaned it with no avail. i fear that soon the battery will be dead and there's no way to charge it. sucks. Samsung really should recall/replace this because so many people have similar issues. whether it's the USB Flex or the battery or the motherboard they should be responsible. looks like ill be getting a nexus 4 afterall.
please let me know if you figure anything out.

It may be your battery, u need to remember why they tell u not to run the phone that way, the batteries our phones run need to maintain a certain charge in order to work correctly, if like u said u only charged it an hr or so a fah for over a week and drained completely more than once u may have rendered ur battery unable to hold a charge, in effect not allowing the phone to run its boot process, I would try a new battery, because beyond that the only other logical explanation is a hardware failure, stuck power button wouldn't render the device unresponsive only when the battery was put in like that, it would bootloop, have u ever just held ur power button in? The phone vib an shuts down a. Vib again n shut down, not become unresponsive, I would try a new battery, and if it works, respect the charge lol

I would agree, seems to be the battery. I bought 2 batteries and a 110V charger on eBay for $30. They don't have the NFC antenna in them but I've never missed it. Not only that but charging that way saves the wear and tear on the USB port.

Last night I was using my phone while it was charging, but the battery was being depleted by the apps I was running faster then it was being charged. When it got down to around 3% I decided to call it a night, tapped the power button to turn off the screen, and put my phone on my nightstand so it could charge overnight like I usually do. Shortly after that I heard the phone vibrate where it shut itself off due to the battery dying which I've had happen before while trying to charge my battery when it gets to a very low charge percentage, so I didn't think anything of it and went to sleep.
This morning when I woke up I saw that my phone was stuck on the "Samsung Note II" black bootup screen and tried holding the power button to turn it off. That didn't work so I took out the battery and reinserted it. When I tried to power it back on nothing happened and even though the charger was plugged in there was no red or green charging indicator LED showing.
Since then I've tried taking out the battery and leaving it out while holding the power button for 30 seconds which I read is supposed to clear the RAM in case that is causing an issue. I've also tried connecting my Note 2 to my computer using another charging cable and it still doesn't show as charging or as being connected to my PC. I've had it plugged in for about 3 hours now in case my battery had been completely drained since it may have been stuck on the bootup screen all night long but so far after around 3 hours I'm still not getting any response from my phone.
Now I'm completely at a loss of what to do so I was hoping someone here who had a similar issue could help or if there are any other remedies for troubleshooting I could try go through. I've ordered a replacement battery from amazon which comes with an external charger but I won't be receiving it until Monday. The only other remedy I've found online is removing a capacitor but I'm going to be holding off on doing that until I've exhausted every other option available.
