hello i have htc m8 working in 5.0 how can i root with any apk file like towelroot , sunshine ..... etc
sunshine won't work on Android 5.0 unless you root first, so it defeats the purpose of what you are asking.
towelroot won't work unless you unlock the bootloader first. And once you've unlocked the bootloader, you can root by a number of means; the most common being to install TWRP custom recovery and flash current version SuperSU.
It really is much easier to root by first unlocking the bootloader when it's possible. The HTCdev site will unlock your device.

Howdy!
I just had my phone refurbished and I wanted to root my phone. I can't root though. I've used Unrevoked and even Super One Click and they don't permanent root my desire. What in the world is going on? I can't even access the play store or YouTube anymore. Is there a way of rooting my phone so I can s-off and install a new rom?

revolutionary does not root your phone, it gives you S-OFF, therefore the ability to flash custom recoveries, radios, bootloaders etc.
S-OFF and Root are not the same. Root means that you have root (admin) access in the Android system, while with S-OFF you are able to do as mentioned above.
So OP, if you want root, you need to S-OFF with revolutionary, flash a custom recovery, and then (OPTIONAL!) flash superuzer.zip from recovery to gain root access to your stock ROM. If you flash custom firmware it already comes with root access.
Hi All,
I've been trying to S-OFF my desire HD, since the AAHK has been retired I've been trying to follow attn1's high level instructions found at attn1's blog.
So far I've:
HTCdev unlocked my bootloader (needed to upgrade the RUU using a goldcard)
Flashed CWM recovery
Now I'm trying to gain root access to continue, I got some questions about this:
Since I have an unlocked bootloader do I need to use and exploit (fre3or, Zergrush, tarcoroot) to gain root access or is there another way to do this?
If I do need to use an exploit, I've read tarcoroot is the only one that works on 2.3.5 (I've tried the other 2, they don't work), can you gain permanent root by using su, superuser and busybox after gaining temp root with tarcoroot? Or do I need to downgrade ROM with tarcoroot and then use one of the other 2 exploits to then gain perm root?
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be awesome.

If you use any of the exploits here or here you should be fine
You don't need S-Off to root if you've already unlocked your bootloader and flashed a recovery. Just flash either a Superuser apk or a rooted ROM from recovery.
Hello,
did anyone manage to root an HTC One M8 Dual SIM with the latest stock Android 4.4.4 on it? I had mine rooted with Sunshine, back when it had the 4.4.2 Android stock ROM. But since its official update, Sunshine won't work. Thank you for any hint on how to root the device.
You need an unlocked bootloader , custom recovery and the superuser zip file. S-off is NOT needed to root the software.
You do not root a phone, you root the running os
Hi, I've a simple question:
Can we use temproot with apps like Titanium Backup or something similar ?
Thanks in advance
Sunshine sets S-OFF. It is not needed for root. Just flash TWRP then sideload the SuperSU app and you'll have root. It'll work with Ti Backup.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-root-optionally-s-off-radio-t3373025
You don't need to run Sunshine to flash TWRP. Just download the latest and flash via ADB in download mode.
I know that Sunshine is for S-OFF, but I need to unlock with htcdev to flash TWRP , loosing the warranty
EDIT: Temproot not working on 1.90
Oh, sorry, didn't realize that was the case then. Is only the official Unlocked edition warranty covered with HTC dev? Their website is ambiguous.
Hello XDA! I am wondering if there is a root method for the desire 626s and also possibly an s-off method too. My boot loader is unlocked and I am on Android 6.0.1
If u unlocked the bootloader,u can use the WINDROID PC tool to flash TWRP and root ur device. I did it. Just download it and run. Do the twrp flash and root. Best of luck
NB: There is no free s off method to my knowledge at this time.
