[Q] Battery drain - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey guys.
Im having this issue very first time. Im using Slim rom atm.
My battery is very weird. It would shut my phone off at 15% with out any notice. Sometimes i log in to recovery(TWRP) mode and it will tell me I have 50% but when I logged in to rom will say 20%.
I tried to flash my phone to different rom but have same issue.
Im not sure where to start to investigate this.
Can someone guide me in proper direction?

Could be a battery issue. My old battery would display 20% remaining, but would always turn off before reaching 15%.

[Q] Battery problem

Hi guys!
I've bought Arc about month ago and I've noticed a problem with battery percentage, it has oscillations. For example, battery is on 25% and suddenly drops to 2 or 3% and for a while battery is on 18%, or battery is on 84%, suddenly drops to 74% and soon comes back on 85%. I've restarted the phone, repaired software but the problem is still here.
Battery life is very good, average life is 36-48 hours, but there is a problem with oscillation. Can anyone tell me what should I do?
Software version is 2.3.3.
Let me search that for you http://www.google.com/cse?q=Battery...sc.tab=0&gsc.q=Battery problem Arc&gsc.page=1
Hmmm... Why didn't I think of that?
My problem isn't 0% battery or short battery life. Read my post again and than answer me.

Best way to fix it is battery calibrate....but it needs root.
And when it drops and raise 2-3% its quite normal. My Neo doing thiskind drop raise trick when I make reboot and for me its not problem

Hi Sidious
It sounds like your battery are fluctuating more than normal, a drop of 20% is definitely not normal unless you are doing allot of booting and flashing at the same time.
One cause of the smaller oscillations could be that battery is not read as often when in deepsleep to save battery life. It might have some battery level estimations when you wake up the phone that are off by a few % when the next battery reading occur. Might also be temperature changes that also change the capacity slightly.
@ ShyamSasi
Arc isn't rooted.

I'm not sure what did you mean by saying that I'm doing allot of flashing and booting at the same time?

Battery sensing module automatically calibrates when it discharge from 100% to 2% or lower. So, let it discharge a few times to 2%, and try to do a light use (no games, etc) doing this, to help fuel gauge module to detect internal battery impedance and correct the % marking.

Hi Sidious
If you had the bootloader unlocked and was flashing new kernels or firmwares. I have noticed that the phone when in "fastboot" mode do not charge but consumes allot of battery, it usually shows as a sharp drop when the phone are booted up. "fastboot" can be used to flash new kernels on the phone, but I do not think this is the problem in your case when you are running the SE provided firmware only.

[Q] samsung galaxy s3 charging problem

Hi,
Ive been having problems while charging my phone. Usually i charge my phone from 11 pm to 7 am and sometimes when i wake up in the morning the battery light is green and it reads as 100% battery charge but the moment i disconnect the wire it instantly drops to 30-50%. Is anyone else having these issues?
Are you stock?
I have not had this problem and charge pretty much same as you. I am stock rooted with a few apps disabled and only had the phone since October.
Try this app
Also I'm pretty sure you shouldn't let it charge for so long, it will hinder you battery life in the long run. At least that's what I have read.

Option 1 : Clear battery stats
Option 2 : Get a new battery and 24 hour charge
Option 3 : Let the battery DIE, drop it in the freezer for a few hours, then 12 - 24 hour charge it again. Doing this though MAY (not always does) cause the water indicator to trip. Easiest solution I found for that was I vacuum sealed my battery THEN dropped it in the freezer. No air, no moisture, no trip.

I would also recommend trying this app. I tried it out a few days ago and it does seem to help out quite a bit.
I find mine drops instantly to 99%. Even sometimes when I'm at 74% and if I don't use it at all, I will check back and it goes up to 78% :-/

Serious battery drain, don't know why?

For I guess about the past couple weeks my GS3 has been getting horrible battery life. I fully charge it, then unplug it and it's down to like 95% within like 10 minutes without any usage. I have the screen saver on so the screen is only at like 30% or so, but when I go to Settings then Battery it says that the screen is eating up 86% of my battery and I have no idea why! Any help would really be appreciated!!

I had a similar issue with the charger that came with my GS3, started using a kernel with fast charge for around a month then it just wouldn't charge at all, phone would light up and say it was charging but battery kept draining. I tried another USB cable and now it works like normal, fast charge and normal drain. I've done a bit of research on it and if the pins don't get a good contact then the voltage drops and I guess a low voltage charge doesn't last long at all.

[Q] Battery drop after reboot?

I've been experiencing huge battery drops (from 10% up to 20%) after I reboot my phone. Is this a KitKat issue or is it my battery?
In the morning from 99% (after checking a few messages in the morning), I rebooted and I dropped 11% to 88%.
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one. :good:
I didnt found it on reboots, but i have this problem when i enter recovery. 20 minutes in recovery - i dont hace 20% of battery.

Hmmm that's strange.
I've noticed it usually drops more when I leave my headphones in.
full loaded ACE 2.
reboot cost u 5%
first 10 % gone in a few minutes for heavy users and in a few hours when deepsleep !!
what i wanna say.
the first 10 % gone in a few.
after that normal drain.
I often get this, although not as bad. I usually lose 2-5% on a reboot, sometimes up to 10%. The other week I charged it to 100% when it was off, turned it on and had 92%.
so is this actually a problem or is it normal for everyone?. Mine looses 5-8% in the first couple of minutes after I unplug the charger..
It's normal.

Same experience. Around 5% to 10% is lost during my reboots.

Its normal. I usually lose the first 5% of a full charge in a couple of minutes. After it gets to 95%, battery charge will drain normally depending on usage.

ok then, thanks...I just thought that this didn;t happen when I was on GB, but it doesn;t matter anyway..
If I reboot once, I will lose between 5 - 10% battery. However, if I reboot straight after the first reboot, I will lose between 0 - 2% battery. I've never really understood this.

Phone need more energy for reboot, that causing the drain. Mine usually drop 2-5%. After recharge battery alsi drop to 95-92% fast. Thats normal

Battery Charging Issue
Is this normal?
When I charge my battery whether it be from mains or USB computer it charges ok, but as soon as it gets to 100% it still says charging for a little time and doesn't report the unplug charger message right away.
With the Jellybean 4.1.2 system I don't get the alert tone when the battery reaches FULL, therefore I have a feeling that when it still says charging even though it's showing 100% that it's actually decreasing power at that point, any help please?
I have tried other batteries, and one in particular goes from 90% right up to 100% and seems to miss that last 10 percent, so I don't use that one now.
I have the most current firmware installed.
Buy a new one

when it says 100%, you still have to wait for a few minutes before it displays the green "full" icon in the upper left corner and asks you to disconnect the charger.
However, the first 5-8% always drains REALLY fast and not proportionally to the rest of the battery drain...
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one.

what about the initial drain? does the first 10% still drop fast or has this changed too with the new battery?
I just wish that JellyBean 4.1.2 would give an alert sound when the battery has reached it's full limit like Gingerbread used to do.
Who would be the best place to ask them to do this on their next update?
But I think that it does..a very short one indeed, but it does, along with the screen lighting up briefly..

Doesn't make a sound on my phone and im not always looking at my phone to see it light up.
I have sounds all turned on and on full volume so no reason why I dont hear a sound when its reached full capacity.

Battery drain problem.

Hello,I have a problem with my HOX, the battery percent is not updating correctly, for example I let the screen on for like 30 minutes and I have NO BATTERY DRAIN, then it suddenly decreases by lets say 10%. This happens all the time on different kernels and roms and I have no idea why. Is my battery damaged? Is there any way to fix this? I calibrated the battery a few with no apparent result. Any oppinons or advices are greatly appreciated.

Ye you have to put in a new battery. I got recently a new smartphone with a 2600mAh battery and its so awesome ! It drains like 1% in 8hours every night and screen on time of 7-8 hours.
My old HOX battery was crap compared to this, I could literally watch it drain when using mobile network (1% every 3mins on mobile internet) even when it was completely new.
HOX drained on airplane mode up to 10% every night lol.
