My Gnex, which I've had since March 2012, stopped charging.
I got a new battery, it didn't help
I got and replaced the daughterboard responsible for USB connections, and it STILL won't charge
I flashed complete stock android + recovery, nothing
Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I just want to be able to use my phone for a few more months till the Nexus 5 comes out!!!

I had this issue and only replaced the USB port on the bottom, and now it works.
Unfortunately that didn't fix mine. Computer can still see it, but it will not charge using any battery/cable/port combination
I had to change my main board

Same problem, but I haven't reflashed or done any sort of recovery. Problem first occured a few months ago after latest 4.3.0 update. Phone would only charge when plugged to USB or phone off. After a few hours the problem fixed itself. The only thing I did was revert back to stock launcher since it seemed like my custom launcher was using way too much memory at boot. Rebooted and the phone was charging. But honestly I think it was just a coincidence. Luck.
Thought the problem was gone but it happened again two days ago. I let my phone run dry (didn't have anywhere to charge). Got home plugged it in and it charged when off but not when booted. I have concluded it's software related. Chargers and USB cables all work, my different batteries work and micro usb port is clean. Device will charge when connected to PC in most modes but PTP works best (don't know why). PC doesn't regognize device however so I can't access it.
What fixed my problem was installing Wugs Toolkit for Nexus. I don't know why but it seems like when it was installing all the different components to communicate with my device it got it to work again. My device was connected to the PC during the install and suddenly rebooted by itself. After that everything was working perfectly.
Sadly I forgot to charge my phone overnight and it ran dry again and today I'm having the same problem again. Looking for a definitive fix, any suggestions are welcome.

My computer detects it as "Unkown device", but most often it will charge in PTP mode. Also, leave it connected to the PC for about 5 minutes. That's how long it takes for mine to start charging sometimes. This is just a temporary solution to actually charge the battery, but I'm sure we'll find the problem
Nope, mine's not charging while off or in PTP mode...

That really sucks, I wish there was a way I could help.. For the time being you could buy an external battery charger (not expensive), but that means having to take out the battery every night Otherwise there is always the hardware options like changing the USB port or the main board. Have you tried pushing the tongue inside the micro usb port up towards the middle? This is a known issue on the GNex and causes connection problems (because the slot is badly engineered)
There's one more thing I'd like you to try. Plugg your phone in through usb to any computer. On your nexus go to the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* this will take you to the testing menu. Select "Battery information" and tell me what the top 2 lines say. When I'm plugged in with the wall charger it just says "Not charging" and "Unplugged". However when I connect through usb I get "Not charging" and "AC" or if I'm lucky "Charging" and "AC" which shows that the phone detects some sort of input.
Hi
My tablet was OK since a few days ago, not rooted, nothing strange installed on it.
For a few days, the device (turned off I suppose) does not display anything or even respond (haptic feedback) at all when I plug it on the USB cable. The screen keeps being blank (actually black...).
I tried to keep the "vol+ + power" buttons pushed for a while, but not lucky, it's really such as the device USB connector is KO. Is it possible ? I do not see anything strange when I look at it...
Is my device dead ???
Do you guys have any idea of how I could make it work again ?
Thanks
Nico

Try holding volume down+power to get into download mode. If you can get there then it can be saved. Look in my signature for links to flashing stock firmware and more for a solution :good:

Have you tried leaving it on charge for a while first?
Also, because you are not rooted you can claim the warranty if it doesn't work

I will be in vacation for a few days, my device will stay home trying to charge during this time
Regarding the warranty, I would like to avoid having to use it.
Nico
I bought my P600 refurbished and it ran into some issues a few days after. I already voided the warranty so I've been looking around for resolutions for my problem.
I did see some people have the same exact issue you had. This is all based on the research I did trying to fix mine (which is not the same issue you are having).
WARNING, THIS IS ONLY BASED OFF OF WHAT I'VE READ. I DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS NOR DID I VERIFY IT. JUST PASSING ON MY KNOWLEDGE, SO DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!
Apparently when the screen doesn't come on its due to only a few things. Its either bricked, has bad hardware, or lastly, which is the most common, is that the LCD ribbon cable came loose. You have to open it up and check reseat it. But then it would come undone again. Someone used electrical tape and the issue was resolved. Once you open it, the LCD ribbon cable is on the left.
If you don't open it properly it will show signs of being opened (chipped plastic bezel), so only open it if you think you can do it carefully and are not wanting to send it in for warranty.

Wow! Completely crazy!!11
Where do you need help with? Did you have the same "problem" before you rooted? I don't believe this has anything to do with being rooted. Also, what software version and charger model. Link us to an eBay thread or something or the store link where you bought it.

Ok. Went back to stock. And the phone turns it self on when i places it on a wireless charger. I would appreciate if som one with a wireless charger could try turning your phone off and then place it on the charger and see what happens
Im on stock rom no root just stock. No quick circle cover.

Define "turn itself on".
- Device is on, screen is off, you place it on the charger, it lights up the screen. Is that so? It acts like that here, too. But shuts screen off later
- Device is off, you put it to charge wirelessly, it turns the screen on with the icon of a battery. It's supposed to be like that.
- Device is off, you put it to charge wirelessly, it turns on and boots up. That's wrong, might be related to bump and some glitch.

The phone is totally off, and it boots up when I put it on the charger. Then phone is totally stock! No root no bump just official v10l
That's not felling right?? The right thing to happen is just to start charging an show the battery symbol I think.

Gee, I never turn my phone off, so I don't know what happens. Let me try it...... By Jove, mine turns on and boots up, too.
Does it do it with a wired charger?...... Nope, that just gives me the battery symbol.
Pretty weird, but not really and issue for me.

plug into pc see if its even recognized if not lg waranty or a new battery
Try these steps
Hold down power button for 30s at least and try power again
If that doesn't work
Pull battery
If that doesn't work
Pull Battery and clean prongs where battery connects and battery prongs
Try different charger
If that doesn't work
Clean charging port with toothpick GENTLY....again GENTLY and dont jam it inbetween the side it doesn't fit where connector is
I have the same problem since today.
Does not start, not even Download Mode is accessable.
Seems like I have to send it to repair, but then I'll lose my data right?
I have data that I don't want to lose on that :/
Did you try steps I posted
Except for the different charger I've tried the options.
I think a different charger would not help anyways :/

plug into pc and see how device manager reconizes the device
Consider another charging block
If not go to local repair shop have them test the charging port for voltage
---------- Post added at 02:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:56 AM ----------
Also try this....hold down the power button 30s
Considering you can't turn it on
Charge it for an hour or so. Battery might be completely drained
If your charging block, battery doesn't need to be replaced, and charging port has voltage
You would need to send it in
---------- Post added at 03:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 AM ----------
Easy way to check the charging port without going to shop is
Does the cable going into charging port wiggle around and is loose? Or is it firm

He took the battery out and connect the phone to the computer, it's recognized as Qualcomm 9008 (or something like that). Is it the famous bootloop or is there anything we can do?
Thank you

Seems like I have a worst case scenario :/
I only see a battery symbol containing a question mark, but the PC itself does not seem to recognize the phone.

You might be able to follow the lgg4 hardbricked threads. Theres a few diffrent ones goin on now. In the generalsection. I dont own a g4 anymore. So if its changed and is bootlooped u may be able to disable the big cores. To stop it from bootlooping. Dont get hopes up yet. But thats a start

We've checking a few, seems like root is needed. Do you know how to root it? it's H818P MM, can't find it so far.
And there's a bit update. The phone was a few months died, now after I charge the battery using external charger and trying to turn on the phone. There's nothing happened, probably because the juice is not strong enough, but now there's a battery animation with a question mark when I connect it to the computer without the battery (still recharging the battery again).

This is a common issue, it happened to m last month. You can try anything with you PC it wont work because the problem comes from the main board.
Just contact LG and get your phone repaired.
Hey all,
I have an ATT Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. It was working fine, plugged into the wall to charge, and then all of a sudden it just shut off. The screen went black, I saw the ATT splash screen and then it turned off, and I cannot get it back on. When I try to start it like normal, all I see is a faint line that shows up intermittently. Any help is appreciated.
When you plug it in are you able to see the charging animation?

I don't know sounds like a hardware thing to me probably will have to get up with Samsung about that.
Maybe someone else will chime in ideas. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
Sounds crazy but try using a computer to charge. It may need a lower wattage charger. And also see if the computer recognize it
