[Q&A] Impossible to change the rom - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hello!
I present you the problem:
So I have a Xperia S (LT26i) currently runs on 3.2 Nature Xperia Advance. Even if it works not bad, there are still some bugs, such as the rom is no longer updated, they will never be corrected.
In short, I wanted to install another rom few months ago, but this approach proved impossible for me ...
I tried installing Ucyan and Cm-11 Overlay Xperia Nozomi. Both attempts were unsuccessful. One has crash but I do not know why, and the other crash saying he needed a phone "Nozomi" and that I had a "LT26i" (it's not supposed to be the same? ) (I also removed the LT26i / Nozomi verification line by going in the image of the rom, as advised on a forum, it just makes messed up the instal ...)
So I ended up with a bricked phone (and the resulting stress), with obligation to go through Flashtool to install a rom stock, then put Xperia Advance Nature. At this stage I also tried installing Ucyan or Overlay, it did not work, it just bricked again the phone: D
So in your opinion, what options did I still have to install another rom on my device ? If possible newer than the one currently installed, which runs Android 4.1?
I thank you in advance ! (And pardon my english, I used google translate to make this message)

[Q] ICS or CM 7.2 on Defy+

First, i would like to congratulate every xda-developer for making this place.
My problem-
I want to install custom ROMs on my, 3 months old, phone DEFY+ (simple right??).
Thing is, i tried reading some threads related to "installing custom ROMs on DEFY+" but they all seem to leave a lot of unanswered question.
Here are my phone's specs-
rooted
system version - 45.0.891.MB526
Android version - 2.3.4
Kernel - 2.6.32.9-gbdd614e
Build No. - 4.5.1-134_DFP-891
Burning points-
1. One thread suggests that kernel that came with android 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 are too uncommon and most of the CUSTOME ROMS are compatible with 2.3.6
Solution: ?? should i update my android version
2. Some threads suggest once i install custom ROM on defy+ i can't go back to stock rom
3. this thread say that you can get stuck on stock firmware after going back to stock firmware
4. Will i be able to access my purchased apps from the google play?
Can someone please guide us (defy+ owners) on how to install ICS or CM7.2, minimizing the mortal danger of bricking our precious.
A list of latest roms available for DEFY+ would be a bonus for us.
Thanks for reading. Please Help!

4. Yes, don't worry. Your Google Play purchases are tied to your Google account, so they will be accessible with any Android ROM/phone that uses the account on which they were bought. So, as long as you won't forget your account password and use an Android phone, they'll stick with you (even if they're not compatible with your new phone, they'll still be there) .
1. if u do update...then flash only those sbf's before DFP 188.....coz dfp 188'231 etc have bl7 ....n root access has not yet been acquired.....n since 2.3.6 would be better than 2.3.4 dun worry....i would suggest this coz this is what i use....
2. u can if u hav the right sbf.....or...make a nandroid backup of ur stock rom ....(which would obviously be rooted)
4. i think yes...because purchased apps are linked to ur google account and not to the phone.
5. maybe a thousand guides r available...sigh....try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100.....
ps. if u get any update binary errors while installation....try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540372....but this happened to ME.....i was on 2.3.6 n made a couple of mistakkes...now it works....1!!!!
Can some one please post a simple step by step guide for installing custom roms on defy+ (specifications mentioned in my first post).
I have really tried but its so confusing.
At present my phone is rooted and nothing more (no boot menu, CWM, etc.)
Please help!!

suggestions - Enfriar Z5, StryFlexâ„¢ LP, Resurrection Remix KK & LP, Znxt Evolution
you shouldn't use enfiar or stryfles cause they are based on cm12.1 and on my xperia m were very messed up, try a clean CM12.1 it is still a nightly (beta) but is suitable for a daily workload. Every problem you have with it should be fixed fast because nighlies have a something like a daily update schedule, you can check every update change log on cmxlog, and submit problems directly to them. with those sony like ports (stryflex, enfiar) every cm update could have another bug with those ports and even not work. I personally really like the clean look of material design. Another really big plus is storage becouse you don't have to install all of sony bloatware and even gapps. CM would be a great choice if you ask me here's a link https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=nicki if you want any help with installing it im here to answer every question
Thanks I really hate all those Sony pre installed apps

which recovery should i use twrp or cwm.
twrp is touch driven so should be easier to use and in cwm (but it probably was some kind of custom/old version) i haven't seen an option to wipe dalvik cache. And if you install cm with it's own kernel you get cm recovery(not cwm but cm!) but it's very easy to install twrp via app in play store (but you must enable root in settings/developer settings/root access)
Installed with cwm.
Hi friend can U suggest good camera app for CM 12.1 (Xperia M) ? or Link of ported stock camera app ?

Reviving an old Friend, Custom Rom Problems

Hi Guys/Girl
so iv been a fan of the Xperia projects and tinkering out there for the Sony Xperia S models
and i have tried bunch of them.
the problem i have been facing is something i cant find anywhere so i was wondering if anyone could help me or shine a light on whats wrong with my lil Hardware that could
The problem:
after i jumped from 5.1 android to 6.0 i had to partition it and do a bunch of stuff i don't fully understand (basically following a guide blindly ) and wallah i got marshmallow running on my phone, but i started noticing some bugs which is normal i suppose giving the circumstances that im using Custom Roms, so i sorta gave up on it for a bit , now iv been tinkering with it again and it seems no matter what Rom i use or what android versions.
it always gives me error messages if i don't have gapps installed i get:
masquerade has stopped
- with gapps -
nothing google related will work and i get
google services has stopped
does anyone have any clue what could be at fault
my sneeky suspicion is that it has something to do with when i was partitioning it
from a huge fan

Btw: sorry if my English isn't 100% :silly:
I have the same issue too
I hope to find a solution

Xperia Overlay Lollipop 5.0.2 - install help

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me?
I have my old Xperia S and will need to use it for a little while, but it's completely stock (6.2.B.1.96) and isn't even rooted. I wanted to put the (now free) Xperia Overlay Lollipop version onto it, because I've realised so so many apps are no longer compatible with JellyBean (not sure if this is the case with Lollipop too??) but I don't know how to install it. The website only let me download "Update.zip" and comes with no installer or instructions on what I need to do.
It's been a long time since I messed around with this sort of thing (not since I had my Xperia X10) and I don't fully understand what I'd need to do to put a new ROM on this phone. Ideally I'd like to install Marshmallow 6.0 from the Xperia Overlay website, but the download doesn't show for some reason.
Thanks for any help and apologies if this is in the wrong section!
