HAHAHAHA
Android Market
It's actually a pretty good question.I've run quite a few different roms in the last month or so and even though I back everything up,the Market seems to lose apps that I've purchased from time to time.Would be nice to know if there's a way to retrieve them online or if we just need to keep buying them over and over.

Yes seriously. You answer was anything but. I want to where they are stored. Hitting the downloads tab shows a list of them, it doesn't show WHERE.
Download Astro File Browser and use the built-in search feature. Make sure it is scanning the whole system and not just your SD card.
This should tell you where they are downloaded and stored.
This question is highly ambiguous. You may want to refine.
I think he means, if you wipe and install a new ROM, the first time you go into the market, it will remember the apps you DID have installed.
Where is that stored?

Exactly. This is what is elusive. Maybe I'm completely wrong and they are stored on SkyNet I mean Google.
I am pretty sure they are attached to your google account. So they are stored on skynet, in some dark dungeon of servers they have 1000 feet under ground
Actually, I think this is a two part deal. The apps you have purchased are associated with your google account. Free apps and trials have a local market link associated with them. This link can become corrupted and titanium backup has the capability to restore those links. Running a logcat while executing the restore market links process may point you in the right direction.
.....
Frank...
They are definitely associated with your google account. My market kept telling me I had a **** load if apps on my phone...no mater how many times I wiped, they still showed as installed on my phone. I created a new google account and bam..fixed the issue when I signed in with the new account. Its the weirdest thing.

This is already being discussed in the GENERAL section.
Does anyone know how I can delete this annoying pop up? I have tried adAway and Addons detector but no luck.
Clearly you installed some free app recently, so go and and remove it or them.
Thanks

If you find it with ADB, after I suggest not installing a lot of free apps, especially large amounts of them within a short space, but generally paid apps are worth it. Or you could click yes and see what free apps are offered, maybe they might be developed by the same person/company, and the one you installed might be among those other free apps.

Manage to run ADB logcat
How do I identify which app ran or how do I identify the pop up??
logcat
These are the logs that shows up whenever the pop up comes up. Any idea on which app it is?

When you install the app it warns you that tablets are not supported. Hope that won't cause functionality issues. Probably just a ppi thing.
Shame you can only have one account per device. They should open this up so you can sync your account across multiple devices.

1- clear ALL data from WhatsApp on your tablet (including the apk itself at the end)
2- install DataSync on both your phone and your tablet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta)
3- re-install WhatsApp on your tablet and DON'T open it just yet
4- using DataSync, transfer your phone's WhatsApp data to your tablet (using whatever method you prefer) [tutorials on how to do that can be found on Google, look them up if you need to]
5- open WhatsApp on your tablet and notice how it doesn't ask you to re-activate your account on the device (for all the app knows, it's the same device)
I've done it like this on all my devices and i forgot about re-activating the account on each device, every single time I've used WhatsApp on either of them ^_^
PS- the conversations don't get synced on all devices unless all of them are turned on at the time of the conversations, but at least you don't have to keep activating and re-activating the freaking thing every single time you use it

Well, i haven't had to repeat the process yet and I've updated the app twice now, so I'm guessing as long as the data is there and it's an update, it doesn't affect anything, but we all know how developers can do things one way now and then change their minds... so for now, you're safe.

Okay. I have a brand-spanking-new Galaxy Note 7, exchanged at Verizon for my prior IED version. Good news is that I don't have to worry about my battery self-immolating. The bad news is that I'm getting these "Your request has been declined for security reasons" toast messages when I attempt to carry out various and sundry simple tasks, such as clicking on a legitimate link in an email in my Gmail app or tapping on "About Google Play Store" in the Play Store app. Are there some sort of Gestapo security measures added to the 2nd Gen Note 7 that weren't on the 1st? Is there a way to knock these down a peg? This is insane...to the point where I have to find creative ways around the block to get things done (such as copying the address from the link or button in an email and pasting it in a browser). It makes the phone considerably less user-friendly. What a shame. Any feedback or input here? I'd really appreciate it.
Note: I have seen things online for "FRP" when I search for that very quote, but I don't think this has anything to do with a "reset phone."
Thanks so much!
Never heard of something like this before. Solution? Root that *****, slap twrp on top and flash Ketan Rom M2, and unleash your Note 7 to its full potential instead of that stock crap

No, I have no anti-virus installed. This didn't happen with my first, shall I say "more volatile," Note 7, and I simply allowed Android and Google to simply restore the exchange device to precisely the same state (in terms of apps installed, etc.) as the original.

I don't know that it's a browser issue, as I'd also mentioned that it also happened when I tapped "About Google Play." It doesn't even attempt to access a browser. For good measure, though, I did poke around Chrome and didn't find anything that would be helpful there. [emoji20]

I did. There are only 4 "backups," per se, that I restored: Aqua Mail (configuration), Business Calendar (configuration), Nova Launcher (configuration) and Authenticator Plus (accounts). Aside from that, Android and Google's native "restore apps" function handled the job 100%. It should also be said that performing the exact same procedure and restoring the very same backed-up configurations resulted in a perfectly functional white-battery Note 7 when going to it from my previous Note 4. That's why all of this is so confusing. I didn't do any tinkering. I know some here will probably say "that, right tbereis your first mistake," but I prefer to know I have a functioning device before I decide (or don't) to do any modifications. It might just be that I take it back to Verizon while I can and see if they'll let me swap it for another. Who knows? Ghost in the machine?

I have the AT&T version, no such issues (I know that doesn't help) what I would do as suggested above is wipe the phone and start over as new without installing anything from a restore. It's a pain but this will remove any possibility of carrying something over from your previous Note. I would think it has to be something in the permissions portion of an app, Knox or the O/S that is not registered correctly??
I think I'm going to see if Verizon will swap the unit before I do that, seeing as though I believe I recall seeing the message after a previous factory reset and before any significant restoration had taken place. What I can do on one phone, I can do on another, I guess. I may see if, after powering up straight out of the box, it gives me the same problem, I'll wipe it and restore everything manually, much as that blows. If it still operates the same way, well, I guess that will teach me that not every upgrade is an upgrade.

Ironacally while you would have normally gotten help how to solve your problem, this forum is now only focused on keeping/not keeping the phone. Compare it to other forums here and think. People can't even extract asked for apks.
A couple apps that I use frequently, namely Walmart and Starbucks, will not allow install because "This app is not optimized for this device"... Is there a safe way around this?
I don't know about Starbucks but, Walmart app installed from backup from Galaxy S10 and is working just fine. Auto rotate and everything.
If it won't load it needs to be updated (the app).
Why would you want either one running as an app? Pure trashware. Don't know about Starwhatever but Walmart runs fine in the browser. Best kept there.
FB, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instascam, etc are a stone's throw from outright malware. Even if I can I don't want to even use those sites in the browser. I'll never load them as an app.
Not trusted apps... actions have consequences, be careful what you allow to run on your device.
The restore from my original device and then an app store update did the trick. Thanks.

On the same device/firmware version it may work ok, I'll test it next reload but just for homepage settings, maybe apps.
Always use another backup method for critical data' SmartSwitch should never be the primary backup.

How do we get the apk file

If it won't load it needs to be updated (the app).
Why would you want either one running as an app? Pure trashware. Don't know about Starwhatever but Walmart runs fine in the browser. Best kept there.
FB, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instascam, etc are a stone's throw from outright malware. Even if I can I don't want to even use those sites in the browser. I'll never load them as an app.
Not trusted apps... actions have consequences, be careful what you allow to run on your device.

Not sure why you say this.
I've had these apps for years with no problems whatsoever.

Simple, they are needless security risks and trashware with active internet access.
If you can't sort this out then enjoy the ride.

Type the name of the app followed with apk download into Google and many sites who have the apk should pop up. Download it and simply install it.

So while I was able to find and download the apk file, it still won't install.
