Navbar Gestures - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I like to use the navbar area for swipe gestures.
A short, empty navbar prevents the gestures from affecting the current app.
GMD can see the gesture starting from edge of the screen. I believe I tried every single one on the market and it was the only one that would work for this. The others could only see gestures started above the navbar.
I've used this method on DirtyUnicorns, LiquidSmooth, SpiritRom, and others.
I'm using SpiritRom right now because it's navbar is highly configurable. It allows as many custom icons as you want, and you can set them to do nothing.
BTW GMD updated earlier this year, it seems to be more stable and less laggy than ever, and the new launch bars have more options, tho I have not found a way to make one launch bar open another one.
I'm going to reinstall a ROM soon, maybe SpiritRom again, maybe LiquidSmooth again, maybe try to make my own...
I want to know more about navbars, how would you replace it? Can you swap out different ones? Is there a list of them somewhere with the features and zip files, maybe I missed it somehow.

Persuade me with Ribbons and PIE

i thought i would ask what people really think of the PIE and RIBBONS features.
personally i find them quite useless and clunky whenever i WANTED to use them, but i am a simpleton who will do things the long way because it actually feels MORE convenient. i have my apps set up on my homescreen in neat named folders, i use the status bar when a notification comes through and the apps i use most are already in the Recent Apps menu.
i know i know i know, it's a customization thing. some people like them and others swear by them. yes they have their uses and functions but i already find it all too easy to do the same thing they offer right out of the gate without having to go to the settings menu and find the actual feature then configure how i want it to react and how big and where to put it and then getting used to where the triggers for them are so i dont keep opening them by accident while im doing something else and...
or i could just use the notification bar and the app drawer because im too lazy and it just feels more natural.
these are my thoughts. what uses have you found for PIE and Ribbons outside of what you can already do from the homescreen.
i don't want to argue and i do find these options neat, so please don't think im $h****ng on them! just want to find a reason to want or need to use them
If you don't use expanded desktop, then there's no need for pie. Simple.

Man I love AOKP's ribbon feature. I can jump to any app anytime with a swipe. Of course you could always press home, tap your folder and launch an app but this is so convenient.

like i said, actually having the feature is nice but no matter how much ive tried to "train" my thumbs right i just cant get the Ribbons to respond the way they should. its not a problem with my phone and its not that im afraid of change or anything, i just cant do it LOL.
Ribbons is like Swype to me. a good feature that is supposed to, and proven to, make a common task simpler and more fun to use. unfortunately for me, like with Ribbons, i just cant get around to using it at any point.
Ribbons have four quick access options. I use nav widgets app window screen off and torch. Apps on the left and quick toggles on the right.
Hated pie until it got the second layer. The extra screen real estate makes a difference. Hidden nav bar is actually useful now.
Only have one home screen and that only has zooper widget and status bar. All other widgets are hidden in the nav widget place.
Phone is inaccessible to most ppl, Ribbons and pie are a great way to really personalize your phone.
Persuaded yet?

you know with the hidden navbar...i might actually. will have to give another crack at it and see if i can a way to make it work. like i said, it looks and IS really great and useful. but i havent been able to effectively get a use out of it that i dont already do out of habit.
and thats the biggest thing with me. its so habitual to just do things the old fashioned way

dont use ribbons but i do use PIE, steroid PIE though. i didnt really like pie until sourcery took it to another level with adding additional custom buttons and it seemed to get more responsive plus you can have multiple launch points enabled at the same time which i kind of like, one on the bottom and one on the right. i honestly jump back and forth between nav bar and pie. i have used PIE on PA and it worked well but i like it much better in the newer sourcery builds. and PIE does take some getting used to because it is such a different way of navigating
switched to using ParanoidAndroid for a while and with PIE set as my main nav bar location, sans the navbar and statusbar, it works wonders! really gives me a bit more room to play on. i have been persuaded there at least ^_^

Which aftermarket LockScreen do you use?

Which aftermarket LockScreen do you use?
AOSP lock screens just aren't customizable enough yet for my tastes.
Which is funny because I like a super simple lockscreen.
But one that lets me swipe in any direction to unlock. Not just up/down or left/right.
Tried Zui lockscreen last night and it was nice but they tried to hard and it's got a stupid "control panel" via swipe that you can't disable.
That, and I prefer apps developed in USA or India or Europe because too many Chinese apps send data back to the developer.
I've honestly never been a fan of replacement lockscreens. I have never found one that performs as good and is as stable as the OS default lock screen. I always see them failing out and sometimes showing the os lockscreen instead, or I'll unlock it only to find the default one behind it etc etc.
With that said, maybe they have come a bit further since last time I tried them. I might give them another shot.
Subscribed for the suggestions.
Well, I just tried like ten different lockscreens.
Ever single one of them tries to do toooo much.
I wanted a lockscreen without any notification bar, no navigation bar, no app shortcuts, and the first nine apps I tried had one or all of these things without any option to remove them all.
I just tried C-Locker now and so far it's got what I need.
Which is odd for me to say because the app isn't working properly.
But it's an XDA developer so I bought it and will trust in the dev to get me past my issue.
Dev thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182431&page=21#post70554247
It may even be some conflict due to all the junk the previous nine lock apps installed.
Ugh, I may just clean flash the ROM and try again.
Since I barely have any setup done yet on my 1/13 DU so not a big deal.
Yeah, I wiped my internal SD and C-Locker is working great now.
Man, those other lockscreen apps left behind folders all over the freaking place on my phone. And they were all thousand+ download, 4+ star apps.
I'm really liking C-Locker and will stick with it.
So far, there are no bugs like original lockscreen popping up (I disabled it of course).
And the dev just approved me to his beta program.

[Q] Gesture apps - Why home gesture dont work?

Hi to all!
I'm experiencing a really strange thing when try to set an HOME gesture with some of most famous apps for that purpose, like ALL IN ONE GESTURES, EDGE GESTURES and similar.
If I set recent apps and back gesture, they work in every way I set them...but if I try to set ANY KIND of gesture for returning to home... nothing happens.
The command work properly (I feel the haptic vibration, or alinz, that starts when a command is performed), but the gesture won't work in the end...
Anyone noticed that too? Maybe there's something I missed for make them work?
I use swipe up from bottom border and it works for me. I use aio.

I didn't find the cause yet but it is also happening to me. If I reboot the phone the home gesture starts to work fine, it only breaks if I re-enabled the nav bar + disable immersive mode using their quick tiles provided by joneplustools and systemuituner. The easiest solution is to reboot the phone.
Well but are you rooted?
Because I can disable navbar but on home screen it'll be always there, so I can't use bottom gestures, only edge...

Right now I'm rooted, yes.
Without root the navbar always shows if you swipe from the bottom. You could try a 0px navbar by I think it doesn't work in OOS at the moment.

I already have the 0pt navbar and used successfully on S8 but with OnePlus it just don't works, I suppose because the navbar is named "drawable" in OnePlus internals while in APK it's "navbar", at least I've read it on multiple sources...

Yeah that must be the reason.
If you don't want to root right now your solution is to use a gesture app like edge gestures or swipe navigation because you can use gestures from the right/left edge so you activate the navbar less often.
It's not ideal but is has one advantage; for example when I want to close a game using the back button, the gesture sometimes is not recognized and I have to activate the navbar using the quick setting and that sometimes breaks the home gesture like we discussed yesterday so I have to reboot the phone sometimes. You only have to swipe from the bottom and it's all fine.

Yeah...but the fact that navbar is permanent in home screen no matter if you choose to hide it or not is really disappointing...

According to my experience this kind of problem is most likely caused by a third party app, possibly an xposed module or some half baked apk. Privately exchange a list of your installed apps, compare and concentrate on the more dubious apps you have in common and you may find your culprit there.

Well I don't have any X module since I'm not rooted, apps installed I don't know but I doubt it because are the same apps that was in S8 before, so I don't think that an app can interfere with the 0pt navbar functions...

Yeah that's the main gripe. I suppose you are concerned about burn-in.
I don't know if stock OOS Oreo will fix that. Maybe some Dev can mod the navbar file as I was done with the old filetype as in the Galaxy S8.
I also can tell you that on LiquidRemix 8.0 ( it's on a Telegram group as is in testing stage ) you could hide the navbar completely without root but I understand that you don't want to change the rom and right now is has bugs so is better to stay in Oxygen.
Right now I'm using stock OOS 4.7.4 with root and to update is super easy, just download and flash the full zip, flash your kernel + magisk/superSu after and it's done.
I don't know if you care about Android Pay...

I can tell you that on a fresh installed OOS 4.7.4 without third party apps it doesn't work. The problem is that on Oxygen the navbar has another name in system so that mod doesn't work.
No I don't care about it because there's no need for it now, at least for me.
I've always rooted phones, no problems with that, it's just that I don't feel the need to do it with 5T since is nearly stock and good to run stock "as is"...

Are there any roms that contain the following?

Face unlock,
iPhone X style gesture navigation
and off screen gestures
I know most of these are one plus proprietary but I was looking for a way to get a rom with these inbuilt or using a xposed mod or flashing a zip.
Thank you in advanced.
I'd love it if you could make this ROM. I'd definitely use it
So actually. There is an app called swipe navigation. It is perfect because you can set up your own gestures to make it match like the iphone x or the OOS beta. As far as screen gestures, Liquid Remix linked here has the off screen gestures. Then use the swype navigation and turn off the stock navbar in the settings and you'd have a full-screen with iphone x experience. check it out.
Also, you can flash theOne5TOS, the beta version which has iphone like navigation when you turn the navigation bar off, and since it is stock, it includes all the screen-off gestures that oneplus offers.
Happy Hunting!

Additionally xposed edge contains advanced gesture swipes. I forever got rid of hideous nav bar using jOnePlus tools. http://imgur.com/72hwhvA
As Matteosaeed stated, swipe gestures should do exactly what you want. I have been using them for a couple of years, hiding the Navigation buttons, and they work extremely well. Also, I believe if you flash Nano Gapps, you will get the face unlock ability. I have it along with swipe gestures on CodeName Phoenix. I have attached a screen shot of the available swipe options for the app.
Lol are you serious almost every custom rom on every oneplus device had always had screen of gestures and actually better than oos since there are gesture options to use and you can basically add anything to them and basically all roms for the 5t right now have face studio unlock toggle which will auto dismiss the lock screen after face unlocking all you need to do is install a gapps package that had face unlock I suggest aroma gapps since you can choose exactly what gets installed and what doesn't. Also I would suggest aicp.
All the following are in the OnePlus open beta 3.

Is there any custom Rom with Full-Screen Gestures

I trieyof Miui Roms
Is there Any Custom Rom With Full-Screen Gestures
Because I Loved Them Most..
I want to know too.
Hey there, I'm using Edge Gestures . It's definately worth it [1,59€] I'm on RR and really missed Xiaomis FS Gestures. So I found this app. It's not exactly the same experience, but 90% reliable. I think, since it's not ported from MIUI, edge gestures is fine enough. I've set up pretty the same functionality but its coming without that UI that you know from MIUI ("drops from the sides" or that "pushing actual screen into the middel" to get recent menu). I'm satisfied with that.
There are nevertheless some few bugs. F.ex. in youtube or netflix i cannot use sometimes the gestures, so i have to minimize it with the inside app actions.
Edge gestures is present in LOS extended and RR(I haven't tested all roms so I'm not sure if other roms support it too

yeah, but you cant customize it. With the official app you can set up things like exact position, like thickness, offset, seperate hold timeout, swipe treshold, other swipe actions... and the implemented one in RR seems to be a little bit buggy (for me)
AEX has full screen gestures too, and they work really well
