I'm liking my G3 right now, but is anybody else excited for the N6? May have to use a jump upgrade for that bad boy. The features sound amazing and the design looks intriguing.
Tempted but too big, too expensive( for a nexus) and no removeable storage. Not only that but its made by motorola which is known for personalizing phone to your liking and yet only offer 2 colors.

I had a Z Ultra GPE and liked it, with the Nexus 6 being half an inch smaller, I feel that it would be a much better experience!
yES, unlike others, i do not think its expensive for a flagship phone. The fACT that other nexus devices were cheaper in cost, does not make this one expensive. As it is a completely different device, different manufacture, better specs ect...
I just paid $598 for the g3 and i would GLADLY pay another $50 for a nexus 6. And its cheaper than the Note 4 and Iphone 6..
I am going to sell my G3 and jump on the nexus 6 as soon as it comes out. The only thing that sucks is that it does not have a SD card slot or a removable battery, but I can live with that...
I have a G3 and the wife has a Jump to use. I'm going to use it. lol I think I might get the Note 4 and then check out the Nexus 6 when it comes out. If I like the Nexus better then I might return the Note 4 and get the Nexus. I have 30 days to return a phone with my discount that I have. I guess I might have to pay a restocking fee. The wife will get my G3.

I want one but I'm going to wait. good chance that price drops... I came from the Nexus 5 and liked it alot..
I'm not too wprried about removable storage. I had the Flex before the G3 and honestly i switch to my Flex every once in a while cuz i miss using it
me too just waiting to move to the nexus 6 I always had nexus devices
#nexus6 shall be mine. Guaranteed updates more development and sorry but the g3 has too much lag regardless of all the tweaks. I need a pure Google experience.
I'm getting the nexus 6 as well.. I like the g3 but there is no lollipop date or eta and I'm not holding my breath..
Nexus 6 here as well, like the G3, but I'm a fiend for development and this is where Nexus shines.
The Nexus 6 looks like an amazing phone but the lack of SD card slot is what's keeping me from the switch.

I have a 64 gig sdcard in my g3 ATM and 32 on board have not touched the onboard storage and only used 5 gigs on the sdcard
Everything is stored in the cloud
With copy I have 140 gigs of storage
So its not a big deal for me bit I can see for others it would be a issue
No SD support = hellz no.

Yea one of the biggest gripes for any phone company are the updates. Never owned a Nexus phone, but i do like plus size phones. I had the Note 2 and Flex. A 6 inch Nexus is actually the deciding factor
Count me in for the Nexus 6. I'll be placing a midnight blue one on pre-order online on the 29th. For everyone who is passing on the Nexus because of the lack of an SD card spot, you should consider buying a meenova. I still have mine from when I had the original HTC one and they work great. Very cheap and ultra portable. I'm sure it'll be even more convenient with the nice big batteries that most of these phones are getting nowadays. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on any great phones because they don't come with built in SD slots. Check them out here http://www.meenova.com/st/p/mrg2.html
Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my Nexus 4 to LG G3.
I dont want to spend a lot of cash on cell phones, so considering the prices being reduced, is G3 still a good option? The phones looks absolutely amazing.
the G3 is definitely a very good option especially with the really high quality case with the cover that you can usually get bundled with it. Overall very good phone and I highly recommend it.

Not to mention it's one of the cheapest flagships available, and the camera is great. I bought a Nexus 6, but returned it 24 hours later, there are simply too many features that I immediately knew I would miss on my G3, and the G3 screen was light years better.
Love my G3 had it for a few days now and its great plus when more roms dtart to come out i feel itll be perfect ??

Great phone. Get a spare battery and never worry about battery life!
Just picked up the G3 on AT&T a few days ago after dropping and destroying my Nexus 4. So far its been great. Definitely an upgrade in the screen, camera, and battery department. The battery has been amazing so far plus I picked up a spare battery kit so now I'm never plugged into the wall...something I was used to doing on a daily basis with my N4. My only dilemna with this phone is that it's a carrier branded phone and not stock android. Luckily it's rootable thanks to some awesome devs so removing AT&T bloat is not an issue. As for not being stock android, LG's skin is pretty light with some added features that I actual welcome. A few features that have stood out to me so far are the ability to hide the nav buttons on a per app basis(thanks LG), the unintrusive popup for incoming calls, and doubletap2wake and sleep. Coming from someone in the same situation I would say do it.

Absolutely a great buy! I love mine! I recommend it to anyone looking for a skinned Android. The hardware is great in every way. The screen it top quality, the battery is good, the camera is really good, one of the phones with the most RAM, a up to date processor, and really good build quality considering it is plastic. The only one single hardware issue I have with it is the speaker being on the back. Don't get me wrong, it is a really good speaker. But with the speaker being on the back instead of the bottom or front, it can easily get muffled when laying on it's back. Specifically when it i laying on it's back on a soft surface like a bed. But like I said its still a really good speaker for a back speaker. It is just a very well rounded phone.
Amazing battery life, superb laser focus camera, 2k display consistent dev support. Need I say more?
I had samsung s4 s5 sony z2 and z3 and nexus 5 and htc m8 and iphone 6 for me g3 was the best ..camera very good and the screen awesome and the battery not bad it gives me 5 hours sot.. I didnt try n6 so i cant tell you which one is better
Short answer: Yes
Longer yes: Yes, after dealing with the Nokia Lumia 930, 5 or 6 (now I can't remember) defective Xperia Z2, I'm now on the G3. Very good phone. Battery life FAR Superior than the Lumia, and just right below the Z2. Considering it's handling a larger screen and a higher pixel screen, I'd say it's awesome. I am a light user with about 1-2 hours of SOT a day and I go home with 65-70% every day. So it can get me through a day SOOOOO easily! Highly recommended. Camera is great, I have the 32GB/3GB version and I don't have lags. But as I mentioned before, I'm a light user. I only use my phone for pictures, bittorrent sync (folders between desktops and such), and messaging (Line, Whatsapp, Email, Forums). That's it. I know, the device is overkill for my usage, but still! I'm very happy . I'd recommend it over any other phone. The only device I could possibly recommend more is the Nexus 6 or the Note 4. I don't like Samsung's cartoony UI. And the N6 is REALLY expensive! It's 700 euros while the G3 was 450 euros when I got it. So, I can't complain!

Do you own a mobile shop ? Well i think giving one phone out of all the above mentioned, wont make much of a difference to u ..
Does 32 gb make a difference compared to the 16gb, keeping in mind the extra 1gb ram in 32 gb version? Also the quick circle case - is this a must have accessory for G3?
Yeah!! I just bought my g3 two weeks ago, i had a oneplus before i purchased this. It feels similar to the 1+ but with the g3 the screen is better, it has a removable battery, micro sd slot and its cheap compared to some of the other flagships. Id recommend getting it

In the benchmarks the difference is very tiny. My mate has a 16gb version with 2gb and compared to my 32gb, and when youre actually using the phones side by side the different isnt even noticeable. The 16gb is also at least £30 cheaper here in the uk.
...
The phone is awesome! It's as powerful (and beautiful) as phones much more expensive than this. It's a shame that AOSP is not well supported yet, but the power and performance of AOSP can be acheived on LG's own rom if you know how to tweak android, both in performance and looks.
This is the best phone ever and I came from Nexus 5

I believe the biggest difference is when you multitask - redraws on the screen, how many apps can be left open without having to hibernate them (the system of course), wtc.
Regardless, I believe 3GB ram will future-proof it as much as possible. It has a good camera, 3GB of RAM in my version, as well as a nice screen. I think it will be a relevant phone for at least a year or two. But as with everything in the tech world... These things get outdated rather quickly.
If you're worried about buying a device that would last you for years and years (with updates I mean), maybe the Nexus 6 would be best as it will be covered for a WHILE by Google. It's absolutely the most advanced HW (processor, memory, screen) so it will be updated for a while!
If you want a G3 now, get it right now. Thanks to the open sourcing efforts of someone, LG's likely to close down the bootloader exploit in the next couple of days.
Unless you like your freedom restricted, in which case, buy a G3 whenever you want.
A very good buy the only phone in my opinion would be the note 4 to actually consider, with that said it also is the easiest root and boot right now with great support from the developers, hands down top three phone until next summer when we'll be asking each other the same question.
The upgrade from the Nexus 4 to the G3 is worth it in every way. I've had my G3 for several months now and it is a great phone.
Yes
Yes I would definitely recommend this phone for a number of reasons:
Overall screen size
Highest % of front face used by screen
4K display
Battery life (I dont do gaming)
Cannot recommend more highly
However, at the end of the day each phone has its advantages and plus points and drawbacks and you need to align your requirements with these stregnths.
Hey all. I'm on verizon. currently own a iphone 6 plus. the phone is ok but i HATE HATE HATE how it only has 1 gb of ram and that when i multitask, it has to reopen and or refresh apps all the time. i cant have more than 2 tabs in safari without one of them having to refresh. same with apps that i just opened. i hate it.
late last year, i did own a nexus 5 before the iphone 6 plus. i was on straight talk with but ATT where i live is HORRIBLE so just went back on my families family plan. being that the nexus 5 does not work on verizon i sold it and got the iphone 6 plus. i would have went with the nexus 6 but was not out until a month after the 6.
anyway, i can't decided if i should go nexus 6 or LG G4. my bud has a nexus 6 and he let me mess without for a while yesterday and i really like it. just like the nexus 5. love stock android. love having bootloader unlocked and root and having system images to the latest version of android. he was running liquid smooth rom (5.1.1) and it was really fast and nice. the only thing i dont really like about it is that the phone is a little wider than my iphone 6 plus and that phone is already wide to begin with. i know these phones are not really meant for one hand use but i want to at least be able to reply to a text message with one hand. so not sure about that part. also worried about the battery life with it. dont like that i can't get 64 gig version on verizon. also no micro sd slot and being that im a tech nerd. i HATE buying older tech products. nexus has been out for about 6 months or more know, it does have a 805 chip while the G4 has the 6 core 808 chip and much better camera. but going with the G4, i get a plastic phone, probably wont see its bootloader ever unlocked. and i hate skinned android. How long did it take for the verizon LG G3 to get root? as long as i have root so i can uninstall bloat apps ill be fine. plus i like how the G4 is closer to the same size as the 6 plus i have rather than the huge 6" size the nexus 6 is.
TLR
have a 6 plus. hate that it has 1gb ram and has to reload every app when multitasking. cant decided if i should go with the 6 month old nexus 6, or get the LG G4. i want root, good battery life, fast performance, good camera,

how do you like it? hows the battery life? the feel of the phone? is it old samsung plastic feel or is it a decent thick plastic feel? i wish it had 5.1.1, which fixed all the memory leaks

I got my G4 last Thursday, and I love it. I like the same things most people are liking...but if youre trying to decide Ill tell you this: once you experience knock-on/knock-off you wont want another phone without it Mine is leather backed, and its comfortable.
The leather version G4 is going to be one of the nicest looking phone you ever had. (ironically the plastic version looks the poorest/most normal among all the flagship smartphones out there imo)
But not too sure about the durability of the leather though.

the black leather version looks nice but im not really a fan of the itching down the middle tomorrow im going to call my local verizon store and see if they have any working display units before the street date so i can play with it and see how it is. hopefully they have one on display before this Thursdays release. i have tomorrow.
I get mine Tuesday, I loved my g3 then switched to the nexus 6 when I got my upgrade, wasn't a fan of the s6 edge. The nexus 6 is a very solid phone, I have mine rooted with aosip rom from droyd running zen kernel. Battery has been amazing using this combination, speed is silky smooth, and volume is loud! I love a loud speaker that's why I'm going to try the g4. The g3 with sound hack has been one of the loudest phones I've had. I can speak up on the g4 Tuesday but since there's no root yet I can only give details on the stock experience. You have 14 days to return the phone so I say try both and see what suits you. I was lucky enough to have my wife's upgrade as soon as the g4 was released so I have both. :good:

i really like the nexus 6. from the time playing with my buds, im pretty sure ill get that. I just dont like buying tech things (computer parts or phones) that have been on the market to long. i know the next nexus is rumored to not come out till this coming October, but being how the G4 has the 808 chip and a better camera. the thing that's making me indecisive is the G4 having a skin over android as well as the risk of not having root and or custom recoveries.
how long did it take for the G3 to have root?
To also sum this up, it also depends on what your needs are. If you want primarily a gaming and heavy-CPU use phone, as well as lots of development (now) the N6 might be better off. If you like lots of gadgets and a great camera, the G4 is for you.
I had the Nexus 6 abs and I decided to go with the G4 and I'm loving it!
I have had my note 4 since it came out, my G4 is sitting here almost ready to go back, I had the G2 and G3, all notes so far. I really wanted to like the G4 better than the note.
I got the S6 edge, but returned it (not as good as the note 4).
G4 vs Note 4 = note 4 is rooted and I am running Dynamic Pop, or CM12.1 depending.
Performance and benchmarks
The note 4 Antutu is 50,000 to 52,000 the G4 is 48,000 to 50,000, G4 gets hung up easy on some tasks, both are about as fluid on easy stuff.
Screen, the Note 4 is at leaast twice as bright, much easier to read indoor and out doors and have MUCH better viewing angles, like a printed page vs a lcd screen. The G4 just looks dull, and you have to wait for the back light to turn up so you can see anything, not a biggie, but its a flagship phone?
Download speed, again for some reason the note 4 seems to do much better, same area same time seems to be getting in the 30 or 40 Mg down, and the G4 stays around 14 or 20.
Leather, the G4 is way better than the note 4 fake leather.
Size for almost the same size the note 4 has much more usable screen.
Battery, note 4 at least a few more hours...
I guess I have to send it back, why get a newer, slower, dimmer, slower downloading phone?

I'm looking to finally replace my aging S3 with one of these devices. I've tried both in the store and both seem comfortable in my hands, so I'm mostly debating Nexus and updates vs. camera quality (mostly pictures/videos of children). Though having used amoled for my previous phones (S3 and Vibrant), I'm not sure how I feel about IPS, though the screen on the G4 does look better in the store.
I also have a Nexus 10 (bought for the screen resolution) and found the Samsung tablet interfaces almost unusable by comparison. Though Samsung phones haven't bothered me as much.
Any particular comparison points from people who have used both?

Kinda depends on what is important to you. I have used the nexus 6 and they are a great phone. But being able to replace a battery and stick a microsd card in are important to me. Mainly because I am finding my devices are having a longer and longer life so the batteries dying becomes more noticeable.
Both phones have more than enough grunt and having owned an g2 & a g3 have found LG is good for pushing andriod updates (so far anyway)

Didn't notice that. Doesn't seem to have received many responses from people with a G4 in hand, though.
I've managed to live within 16GB to this point (though I definitely need more now) so I'm pretty sure 64 will be plenty. Price from T-Mobile is identical, so that isn't even a differentiation.

Gotta weigh the options of each. Right now the G4 can have the extra 128gb card, extra battery and charger. Nexus 6 has a worse screen, is top heavy no upgradable memory or swappable battery, worse camera and no led notification.
The nexus has dual speakers, but trying both phones side by side for sound, it isn't that huge of a difference IMO.
The G4 is also more comfortable and more pocketable due to it's size.
I have both phones and have to say that the nexus 6 updated to 5.1.1 with a custom kernel is hands down the fastest device I've ever used no question about it. I love the camera and the removable battery of the g4 they are my main selling points for switching from the nexus. You can't go wrong though both are fantastic devices

Just to lead off that, I also have the G3 running AOSP 5.1.1 and it also is blazing fast, it seems more to do with the OS than the hardware itself. Assuming we get root, there will likely be G4 AOSP ROMs as well.
I didn't own the N6, but I did consider it. For me, since it's already June and the next Nexus will likely come out this fall, I would personally wait. I plan on getting the next Nexus if the 5.7" rumor is true, and I just got my G4.
So I need a new phone. I'd like to get a phone that can last me 3-4 years. I'm not concerned about always having the latest, greatest version of Android. Battery life is critical. My Moto X (first generation) can barely make it a day now, no thanks to my own stupidity (I was applying what I knew of old NiCd batteries to Lithium ones, going 0-100, 100-0, etc.).
Please no flames, and no "my phone rulz, yours drools". I want data, thoughts, cogent arguements.
I've narrowed it down to 4 choices. The top two are the LG G4 and the OnePlus Two.
Here's the consideration. On Amazon I can get an unlocked G4 for $439. It doesn't come with a warranty so I'd have to buy one from Square Trade which would run me another $100. But, unlike the OPT, it has a removable battery. The question is, is it worth the extra $150 (difference in price + square trade warranty)? Or can I make the OPT battery last for 3-4 years with what I know now about lithium batteries?
Talking Motorola why not considering a Moto X Play?
I guess it would depend on how much you use your phone and how often you need to recharge. Lithium ion batteries will last 500-1000 charge cycles. If you're a heavy user, having a removable battery can make a difference in longevity.

The Play isn't available in the US (Yes, I know you can get the Droid Maxx 2 and it's virtually the same phone - but I want an unlocked phone). I've considered the Style but it's $50 more expensive than the OPT (for the 32 GB version) and lacks a removable battery. Almost the worst of both worlds!
I do like the Moto X experience, the near-stock Android and Moto Assist are pretty nice.

I guess it would depend on how much you use your phone and how often you need to recharge. Lithium ion batteries will last 500-1000 charge cycles. If you're a heavy user, having a removable battery can make a difference in longevity.

I don't consider myself a heavy user - certainly don't play a lot of graphically intense games - but I was considering that if I got a phablet I could ditch my Asus TF201 for reading/note taking so it would be more heavily used than my current phone.

I thought about the OnePlus X but since it doesn't include all the LTE bands for AT&T or T-Mobile in the US, I'm leery. I live in a suburb and I'm on call once every six weeks so I need a phone that works.
For the foreseeable future, I would go with the Nexus 6P, so far it comes as one the very best Android phone of the year and you'll get timely updates with a large community.
I would prefer the G4 over the 1+2 because of the better camera but the 1+2 should have a better developers friendly environment than the G4.
That being said, in 3-4 years time, if you're not able to change the battery, you'll most likely have a sub-par battery life.

I can live with it if it can last 3-4 years, by then I'd probably want a new phone anyway. Developer-friendly environment isn't that big a deal to me, I'm not big in modding my phone. The 1+2 looks like a better, more durable phone but I am concerned that I've seen a lot of posts about poor customer service. But you can look anywhere and see that with any phone. I would like a nicer camera but it's not a deal breaker. The Moto X has been okay, not spectacular like the 4S I had prior.
The 6P is nice but it is a little more than I want to pay and its such a huge phone. It is tempting to get the Nexus 6 (which is bigger, I know) and use that as a replacement for both my phone and tablet. And it's really cheap on Amazon right now, $400 for the 64GB version. Too many choices!
