I have noticed that with all builds available android market has alot of apps missing (such as google maps, etc)
I have found various vending.apk replacements for qvga models that fix this problem, but until now I have been unable to replace market.
I am currently using Gingerbones 5.25 odex version.
Does anyone know how to update market with the qvga patched version of market and make it work for an odex system.
Thanks

grab a file manager with root accessfor example file expert . go to settings clear market data and cache then using file explorer navigate to system apps folder delete vending apk and dex files and throw in the one from the link below then restart clear dalvik cache and you are ready to go.
the apk is not odexed but it works on odexed builds.

also this is the new market after the facelift but itisn,t the latest version.....the latest version with qvga fix didnt work for me because it was patched with wildfire build.prop
Worked a charm, still havent got all apps (google maps is still missing) but when searching for "video" for example I get over 600 results.
Thanks a bunch

It's kind of strange as I can access google maps even on non patched markets there must be something wrong with your build. Maybe because gingerbones was stripped down a bit. Anyway there is patched G maps with worldwide navigation enabled floating in Android apps and games forum give it a go it works great for me.
hi i am making a new custom fw for my Arabian friends so i want to add an app to it
so is there any way to do it??
i thought at first that i just need to add the app file inside the Shpapp file but that wasn't right and didn't work
Any ideas would be useful
Thanks in advance
You just have to copy the apps folder to the SHPApp>Osp>Applications with the other applications. I was able to add Picsel Smart Offce and MyExplorer this way. And it worked like a charm. You can get the apps from sites where they upload apps for spoofing. I recommend: http://badawaveapps.blogspot.com/
Note: Sometimes the files that you download from such sites might already be spoofed. That is they have copied the contents of the apps into a container app and renamed the files accordingly. So the folder name will be different from what the actual folder name would be for that app. So if you want to still install these apps, you will have to edit the <ID></ID> part in the manifest.xml file in the Info folder of the app according to the folder name.
Hope it works for you.

You can add sygic/ndrive but not delete the native navigation app since Route66 is encrypted in the apps_compressed.bin file. Native apps which you can delete are: Daily Briefing, Twitter, Facebook, Samsung Apps, Samsung Apps Update and Social Hub Premium Instant Messenger,
Whatever changes you want to make in ShpApp file, do that and then recompile it and flash it with a firmware. Done
are you sure astrotom?
i tried it before and ended up with non working samsung apps and nothing added
i'll try and report
and yes my intentions is to add sygic and ndrive and i have the original files already

You will end up with a non working Samsung Apps only if you replace a particular firmwares's ShpApp with other firmwares's modified ShpApp.
very bad idea to get an app like sygic with all its maps inside the file
trix and Wave remaker couldn't do it
trix couldn't add a sound file from sygic
Wave remaker couldn't add a folder inside the file
maybe i'll use small apps like you said astrotom like My explorer and picsel smart office
manged to do it
i didn't believe myself when i saw sygic as original app in my customized firmware
thanks astrotom you advice was so helpful
sorry but ...if I can add a new app (free or not like sygic, myexplorer, picsel...) and having it regulary installed and functional in main menu without spoofing like preinstalled asphalt 5 then..if those new apps will receive an updated version and I do the update through samsung apps when I'm logged then those apps will appear in the purchase history as if I had bought them (like ashalt), is it possible?
Does samsungapps recognize the installation of the added app as it does for asphalt?
don't have paid apps in my country to comfirm this
the version of sugic that i put in the fw is the free promotion version so i don't think it will get updates
and no it didn't appear at the purchase history
you should try it your self or ask astrotom as he tried different apps
for me sygic is just enough as i added alot of maps and the Shpapp file reached 590 mb
well based on my experience with asphalt 5 you can update it but it does not appear in purchase history. hence if you accidently delete it you cant download it again
Unfortunately, you can't update apps. Samsung apps will still recognize those apps and if you have not updated to the latest samsung apps, you can even launch them from within samsung apps. But like asphalt 5, pre-installed apps are not allowed to update. Apps can be updated only if you have installed them from kies and if they belong to your country's app store.

mmm...I've pre-installed asphalt 5, never bought it, but I've updated it two times through Samsungapps application on wave (not using kies) and if you login before doing the update, asphalt will appear in your download history
(update is notified on the top of the downloaded/installed application list)
yes even i have updated asphalt through my phone

Have you tried changing app version to a lower number in Appinfo.sys and manifest.xml before flashing (in Info application folder)? If this works perhaps it's possible to load a firmware with only some configuration files for many apps (no need of full apps folder with lots of mb...), then:
-set microsd as installations target;
-run samsungapps application on wave, login and download all the 'update' (actually you'll download the entire apps );
-if this works, you'll have all your favorite apps in your purchase history, working normally on your wave and with any firmware...

i don't have paid apps in our samsung apps market until now so i can't test this
hi this is so intersing job
how can i edit shpapp infact how can i add app to shpapp ?
hi every one again
wanted to report bad news back
you can add just two apps
if you added more than two apps you will get unexpected behavior like disappearance of the native apps like samsung apps, facebook, twitter, mini diary......etc
or ending up with broken samsung apps and nothing added
hope we find a way through this

Hey, had to reset EVO on Christmas but it turned out to be a great gift giving me a faster better device fixing the insufficient storage errors & I replaced Sense with GO Launcher EX which I find an amazing free highly customizable launcher and way faster than stock sense (reminds me why I love android).
Only remaining issue seems to be that some apps I liked are no longer on the market such as 3D Gallery (I think Cooliris made it for the original Nexus http://www.cooliris.com/mobile/android/ ). I used to be able to download it from the market alongside the stock Gallery (not replacing it). I've downloaded other photo apps but still would like that one. I will now be backing up .apk files to sdcard with File Expert but does anyone know what happened to that app & where is a safe place to get .apk files that are no longer available in the market?
Google search turned up the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653503 but wanted to run the issue here for any updates before I try that apk.
-Thanks
BTW still on 2.2 any reason not to update to 2.3 if I want to root it later
& any other faster loading+cool media gallery apps?
BTW, any reason not to install Gallery3D.apk - (666.7 KB, 17510 views) found at:

Thanks
(it's no longer on market & liked it)
Well, since the original Google Apps hasn't been updated since 29/04/2012, I decided to:
Update [at least Play Store]
Clean-up some files [like non-neon libs]
Merge the (non) optional files with the main files to make install faster
Optimize install speed
Zip it with 7zip set to ultra mode [less file size]
Create a lite version, so I don't need to modify later
Latest update on July, 7. I had uploaded to CyanogenMod 9's thread, and now I'm uploading to here.
Lite version only have the essential Google Apps. The only apps that you can launch on your launcher are: Play Store and Gallery. Other essential apps like GSF, NetworkLocation, SetupWizard and other stuff to connect to your Google Account, still there. A lot of useless libs [like dependencies of QuickBoxSearch] were deleted. More details, check the ZIP.
Full version have everything the unmodified Google Apps have. Except some non-neon files. Since our CPU have neon support, we don't need it. [more details about neon here]
Using full version you will see no difference using the unmodded version, except that on July, 7, the apk of Play Store is on the 3.7.13 version.
Full and lite zips have a 32MB size difference. [Full with 42MB, lite with 10MB]

Xenologer: repackaging Google Glass XE5 APKs to run on other devices
Google Glass's build process is fairly conservative - they don't use hidden APIs often, and when they do, they use reflection. Thus, it is relatively easy to repackage the Glass APKs for other devices.
Modifications to the base APK
The use-library element in AndroidManifest is removed, as it refers to unused code.
com/google/glass/hidden/HiddenViewConfiguration.smali is patched to always return 0xffff instead of calling the nonexistent View.getDeviceTapTimeout
An instructional video (don_doff_background.mov, 8MB) is removed to save space.
All native libraries required are shipped with the APK, as are all the Glass fonts.
For the camera, instead of calling Camera.open() to get the rear facing camera, Camera.open(0) is called to get the first camera, as the Nexus 7 doesn't have a rear camera.
Install
Download the APK:
Home: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glasshome-modded.apk
Camera: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glasscamera-modded.apk
Maps: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glassmaps-modded.apk
Setup: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glassmaps-modded.apk
This one's been modified so that instead of scanning a barcode, it uses the existing Google Account to setup and then force closes.
Install just like any other boring APK. None of the Google Glass apps need system privilages. I do not recommend installing these APKs as system APKs, as the Glass apps will attempt to reboot the phone after a force close.
Glass apps that won't be converted
Hangouts: crashes on Android 4.2 due to a change in the underlying Android code. If you have another version of Android, try http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glasshangouts-modded.apk
GlassSound.apk: installs and runs without modification. Get a copy from any XE5 system dump. Not essential for Glass; Glass will just run muted without it.
GlassPhotosphere.apk: As stated by http://www.studio8apps.com/running-google-glass-photo-sphere-viewer-on-android-phone/ , runs (for the easter egg) without modification. Again, any dumped copy from a XE5 should run fine. Not essential to Glass.
Building these APKs from the modified dump
This area is still quite rough - I would love some help!
These sources are managed with a shell script (because I am not familiar with git submodules).
Run getsrc.sh then one of the build*.sh to build the APK you want. You need to modify them to suit your needs. In particular, there's a dosignapk.sh script that they call, which signs the APKs with your key. Go to http://developer.android.com/tools/publishing/app-signing.html for details.
You must have APKTool, 7Zip, and the Android SDK in your path.
Finally, note that the build scripts copy the com folder into the resulting APKs, as APKTool is too dumb to get them from the original APK.
Credits/License
While I don't have permission from the Glass team to post these, Google Glass is a device for explorers, thus, I believe it agrees with the spirit of discovery to post these APKs.
The APK was pulled from Android Police's dump at http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...em-dumps-please-do-something-cool-with-these/

You should at least give the source of your information !!! And what the point of this subject in the S3 section ???
Was about to ask the same question xd
