Hello,
I am looking to see if anyone has gotten SELinux to go to permissive from Enforcing? I tried a couple of apps but it seems that the stock Samsung 4.3 even with Knox disabled is not letting me set it to permissive permanently. The only way I can get it to work is in a terminal and "setenforce 0" but it is active only for that session. I am running Linux on the tablet but because of this SELinux policy it blocks some advanced features such as being able to use KDE, Gnome, or Mate desktop because the needed communications on the dbus are stopped.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
I am running a rooted Samsung Note 10.1 2014 WiFi 32GB with US 4.3 MK1 firmware version
Have you flashed the SE permissive kernel that got posted? Also how did you get Linux up ad running

Didn't know a new kernel was out. I may try that at some point once I am a little braver
Thank you
Here is a link to a thread, near the bottom I posted how I got it going. There are still some script errors and I am trying to talk with developer. I used the Android on Linux or Complete Linux Installer app. Because of the enforcing mode it blocks the more advanced installs, but I do have 2 LXDE versions going Ubuntu Small 13.10 and 13.04

Try to use Wanam Xposed to set permissive. In note 10.1 I didn't test yet, but in SGS4 works like a charm!
I've used wanam xposed in Note 10.1 (P601) to set official status and get OTA updates

I just tried this now. The information in the About screen still shows the SELinux as Enforcing after activating the module in the framework, rebooting, changing the option in Wanam Xposed and rebooting again twice just to make sure i didn't miss anything.
Hi folks,
Did anyone get viper4android (XHiFi or FX) working on the G4? I tried the normal lollipop version but it screws up the camera; video recording fails within 1 second, probably due to some ALSA config or whatever (I'm no expert). I did see some closed thread (audio-engine-absolute-sound-project-t3015180"]http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/audio-engine-absolute-sound-project-t3015180[/URL]) on TASP where @ahrion did his best to make an all-in-one package for install on newer devices. I will see how that goes, but I'm more hoping on someone chiming in to tell me how to do it instead of reinventing the wheel so to speak...
- update -
Just tried the TASP package found elsewehere on the internet (13b version) and that seems to work, except for the permissive mode which doesn't stick to permissive. I'm running v10b (or 10c depending how you look at it) and it seems the adb su 0 setenforce 0 command doesn't work like it did on 10a?
So last step, I'm stuck on is setting SELinux to permissive... Iet's google some more
Don't you need to be rooted for viper to work? That's 1 of the main reasons I want root
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Yes and I have root. It's definitely SELinux, setenforce 0 does the trick until reboot...

Thanks, interesting... but, what exactly am I flashing with this? Looks like a modified viper installer, but does it also take care of SELinux?
Who made this ? I want to see if there is any updates, working good for me !
I thought you couldn't permanently change SELinux to permissive on Android 5 unless you were using a custom firmware like AOSP.

You thought right.
There's an app on Fdroid called "SeLinux Mode Changer" that'll set the SeLinux state to permissive on every boot. But Google doesn't like the app, so it randomly remembers you to remove the app.
About gave up for months, then it clicked in my mind when i saw a post mention to make sure all other audio apps redirect eq to viper, and if not, change them. Even if you dont use a certain audio player app, change it too.
Problem is, i could not get the lg music app (which i never use) to change the equalizer to viper, it just had it's own default settings, so i ignored it. So i decided to revisit the lg app, and froze the app with link2sd, i also froze the lg video app too, just in case. Rebooted and now viper sees NEON and i can even run without compatibility mode (which did not work consistantly for me) .
I tried all steps to get this to work, not sure what other things are needed for everyone else, but i tried moving viper to system, installed selinuxmodechanger, maybe this can be uninstalled now, i have no idea. I have no plans to fix what isnt broken and find out myself, so just try freezing lg music app for starters.
Hope it works for you, if so, let the community know what steps you had to do!

Any chance you have a link to download TASP 13B? I absolutely cannot find it on the official dev page. Maybe I am blind.

Enable Init.d on your rom and put a script with the following lines in it in the /etc/init.d folder.
#!/system/bin/sh
setenforce 0;
That should set SELinux to permissive at runtime.
Hi - thanks for your tip, but I've moved on to the V10 and then to the OP3 since then
Hello everyone.
The XZ Premium is the LAST of the Mohawk tribe. It's got the genuine feel of unleashed power.
But this amazing masterpiece really DOES lack great ROMs. And, as you guys are not too active in this field, our Chinese friends took their turn.
So as nobody else did organize it into a separate ROM thread, I present this ROM to you. This ROM is NOT my work.
also, I'm NOT responsible for any damage you might encounter.
You MAY request for some corrections, but, as I'm NOT the author of the ROM, I'm not authorized to modify the ROM, NOR i'm really willing to.
Don't expect any updates from ME!
All I've done is the translating of the installer from Chinese into English, replacing some of the software with the international version, tweaking and making this step-by-step tutorial for you. I've spent a few days testing it, to make sure you guys won't have much trouble.
I did it voluntarily, because this ROM is SO GREAT that I just feel necessary to share it with you guys!
All credits to machao44 @ bbs.gfan.com

Instructions and download links are in the 2nd and 3rd post.
First of all, you WILL need an Unlocked Bootloader. I hope you know what it means, otherwise you'll have to RTFM.
#. Long ago I've learned from some wise guy who recommended to always flash a full stock FW before installing a custom ROM based on it. You MIGHT or MIGHT NOT want to do it. But I've NOT tested this FW without flashing the full .270 image upfront via Flashtool, with FULL wipes. (Or, flash 16.20 if you want to go for the 1.8.0. Also, HERE is the discussion on it)
Or this .235:Newflasher+.235
0. Push the Aroma-ready TWRP via ADB.
1. Boot into the Recovery (hold power&vol-) and install the ROM. You DON'T HAVE to reboot afterwards, so you might want to add all the other ZIPs to the queue.
2. Install the Xposed-v90-SDK26-arm64-beta3.zip, which contains - no surpsise - Xposed SDK. You might want to install the SYSTEMLESS version of it, but you will need to find and download it yourself and install it at THIS step, instead of this particular zip.
3. Install the Xposed FIX. It has to be done separately for an unknown reason. I've decided NOT to play with it, trying to embed it into the ROM itself, and left it as a separate zip. MAYBE you don't need it if you're not going to use Xposed, but why use this ROM at all then??
4. Install the Kernel Patch. It's the standard Kernel Patch from JanJan.
5. Optionally, you MIGHT want to install the Sound Mod. I recommend you NOT doing so, because the volume on it is cranked up TOO much, and on my device it began producing crackling sound not even reaching the maximum volume.
6. HERE I INSTALL GAPPS. You might NOT need to do so, but if you want to use the phone with Daydream VR, and also if you might want to use Google Camera (sadly no HDR+, but I use it mainly for a cool Bokeh and 3d panoramas!), you'll need to install the SUPER arm64 8.0 package, which is almost 1gb big. Don't worry, we're going to debloat our device in step 7, deleting 80% of that crap...
p.s. To enable Daydream, install Daydream Enabler magisk module from repo
p.p.s. To enable Google Lens, install Google Lens Enabler magisk module from repo. It will also let you backup the photos with the Google Photos app in original quality as if it were the Google Pixel FOR FREE! It WON'T TAKE UP YOUR SPACE!!!
7. Debloater. Here is what it removes:

1.6.1 Google Disk.
1.8.0 - as is!!
Beetle84's contribution, translated 1.8.0 installer
The folder should contain:
aroma-ready twrp.img
1. ROM image. Google, Yandex
2. Xposed SDK
3. Xposed FIX
4. Kernel Patch (JanJan's)
5. Optional Sound Mod (DontBelieve)
7. Optional debloater patch
Enjoy!
Known issues:
#0. I'm not the author of the ROM. I'm only sharing with you what's working for me. I am not a professional developer either. Please remember it's a COMMUNITY, not a workshop.
#1. Substratum DOESN'T WORK.
#2. If you WON'T upgrade your phone fully to stock .270 via FLASHTOOL (!), or if you won't flash the included .235+newflasher beforehand, your G8141 WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY SIGNAL.
#3. SOME G8141 users still report having NO signal. Try flashing your device as G8142, and then flash the G8141 kernel manually before step 4. You can find the Shoey's G8141 kernel inside the zip file of ROM. Don't foget to patch.
#4. If you can't stand the one tab in Settings that's in Chinese, here's the translated settings.apk
1.8.0 settings.apk
#5. DON'T UPDATE XPOSED AND MAGISK.

So, you redownloaded the ROM, and you chose the G8141 kernel while installing, and it didn't work?
Are you sure you're using the right files?
Did you flash 235 or 270 beforehand? Try flashing full .270 or 235 upfront and then install this rom on top of it.
Else, I don't know why @amakuramio has no problem with her G8141...

I only translated the installer and embedded the G8141 kernel in it. Adding gBoard doesn't count, so, it's the same ROM you're talking about And yes it's fast!

Yes, redownloaded your files and installed in this sequence, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and no change with the signal, still not able to pick up a network, even when I search for it and click it, tell me I cannot register on the network.
I did a clean flash of .270 yesterday and started on the files you shared, I will flash .270 from scratch now and run through the files you provided and report back.
I do appreciate all your help, this is just a glitch and hopefully I will have a fully functioning device soon.

Very strange.
By the way. Once you flash the stock FW... Run it and check if your phone receives the signal on the stock FW.
Then try dirty flashing (without wiping /data).
Also, after the full installation, if the signal still doesn't work, try pushing the JanJan's kernel via ADB and patching it, then wipe dalvik/cache and try for luck once more.
If there's no luck, maybe you really need to flash the .235 ~150mb that @amakuramio mentioned. I'll try to find it and then I'll upload it to the Google Disk. I'll let you know when it's there.

DONE.
Try here
Is your phone provider-locked, or locked to the network, or sim-card, or in any other possible way? Call the provider and tell them you "updated the software and the phone stopped receiving the signal, so you had to roll back to be able to make this call"... Maybe try another SIM card as well... Check everything to exclude every single stupid possibility!

Stock 270 have network signal. Images attached.
I think something is missing, there is nothing I have removed or added to your file collection to alter it, so something must not be doing what it should be doing for single SIM, G8141.
I am going to flash your files over this now and see what happens.
Update - Back to no signal, I think the Kernel is not set for G8141, only G8142.
Update - Flashing JanJan's Kernel obtained from his/her thread gives me the same issue, no signal. I am going to flash from the beginning, stock .270 and then JanJan's kernel and see what happens. But, if I do that and have a signal, would flashing Xposed and the Xposed fix in TWRP without M ROM give me a working Xposed?
UPDATE - The issue is not with JanJan's Kernel,it is with M ROM, as I installed Stock .270, installed JanJan's Kernel and additional files and booted fine, strong signal, Root and DRM, but obviously no Xposed.

His phone doesn't receive ANY NETWORK. Like if there was no sim-card. With all respect, I don't think your advice is relevant.
But it's surely very important to know that you don't have the signal issue on your 8141.?

After tinkering with the packages and flashing them in different sequences I managed to get going. In M ROM Aroma installer I ignored the G8141 option and let it flash the G8142 files and bingo, Network Signal and showing SIM 1, the software thinks it is a 8142 and I tinkered some more, got Xposed running, but then, I had a major issue, System UI crashed and would not re-appear after installing some Xposed modules.
I think, if I can find 12.75 I am just going back to that, I just need a stable, working phone for daily use and though others seem to work, mine does not. SO I thank you all for your help and assistance.
Who knows where I can get a '3 UK' 12.75 ftf or any 12.75 ftf as Xperifirm does not keep older roms?

I have the Australian .75 firmware I think and I have TurboROM p75d which I will upload to mega for you. My internet's pretty crap though
I have 12.75 both in US and CE1. And I also have pretty much all Turbos roms
I have had Redmi Note 8 Ginkgo since December. From then on, I am waiting patiently for the appearance of refined custom roms. Recently, roms have finally appeared where all camera lenses work! But I miss one thing very much... Since I had the RN4x I have been using the Dolby Plus mod. In the RN8 it clearly improves the sound, has more bass and is louder. I mean the sound on the built-in speaker, not on the headphones. Dolby Plus can handle bass better on the built-in speaker than the Viper4Android.
This mod however requires SeLinux to be permissive. All android 10 roms that I tried have a SeLinux Enforced kernel - for some reason switching between enforce and permissive is blocked. Even some roms do not allow flash another kernel.
How do I unlock the ability to switch Selinux enforced to perrmisive when the magisk SELinux Manager module is not working?

Try the following Magisk module. Download and install it via TWRP: SELinux Switch

Please read the last sentence of my post. I used two ways to change selinux, they work on miui, on
other custom android pie roms. Is this module from you unique?

I did read your entire post. I was just offering an alternative, so whether or not you want to give it a shot, is upto you. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, get in touch with your ROM developer. Over, and out. :good:
SELinux
There's an app called SELinux mod changer, try that. I used that to change permission to permissive on my ginkgo(Android 10) and it works perfectly.

Respect man, this magisk module works!
The few modules that I was using apparently did not work properly with android 10. I thought the kernel was blocked in some way, and this is a matter of choosing the latest selinux switcher.
Here is the link to the source where this magsik SELinux Switch module comes from:
https://github.com/nipunnarang/selinux-switch
Do you know how with some magisk module or buildprop modification to:
- set the back button to close / kill the application
- the appearance of recent applications was like in android oreo?
I found scripts for it once, modules and now I can't. I prefer not to install xposed

Good to know it works. I made it. The link you've provided is my GitHub. Also, no, I don't know if there's a Magisk module for those two things. For the former, you can try using Button Mapper. It requires root, but not Xposed. And for old Oreo style recents, it needs a modification to the ROM, which can't be done via a simple Magisk module.
