[Q] Gyroscope and Vibration Motor - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
So, I was very excited about my new phone, but it has so many issues:
The Vibration Motor sounds weird and tinny, as if something inside the devive was loose and vibrating with the motor
The gyroscope is off by about one degree, and i foud no way in the settings to calibrate it
This is extremely dissappointing. I hope i can fix the gyroscope sensor, but the vibration can't be fixed software wise. Will I have to return the phone as a faulty unit?

I have not checked my gyroscope. But my vibration motor sounds fine to me.
If you have CPU-Z, it displays sensors outputs. It has 2 entries for the gyro, LGE Gyroscope, and LGE Gyroscope Uncalibrated, implying there is a way to calibrate it.

Proximity sensor recalibration

The proximity sensor is behaving very inconsistently. Having frequent call drops and the loudspeaker coming on and so on...
Is there any way to recalibrate the proximity sensor?

Z1 Compact Vibration Issues

After I had my Z1 compact(Japanese Version) two weeks, I started having this vibration issue. When I type very fast the vibration feedback disappear, vibration even failed in vibration test. When I shake the phone the vibration comes back, but when I type fast again vibration disappear again. Some ppl on sony forum said it's normal, one of them made the vibration of Z1 compact disappeared on many new phones in an O2 shop. I don't think this is true, it must be a hardware issue. I opened the back cover of Z1 compact and replace a vibration motor, then this issue never happen again.
I do have this problem too.
You replaced the vibration motor with an original one from Sony?
I have the same issue too, but i think its software releated. Im already on my 3rd z1c and i had this issue on all of them, on the first one i had i had them replace the vibration motor and that didnt help.

I don't think Sony produce vibration motors. I just bought one from Taobao.com that fits for Z1 compact and replaced it. It works fine now. It's a very small piece, I think Z series mobile used the same vibration motor.

I'm sure it's a hardware issue. I tested it. when the vibration motor stopped vibrating, I touched the vibration motor, the vibration motor heated up very hot. but after i replace the vibration motor, i don't have the vibration issue anymore, even the newly replaced vibration motor vibrated for a long time about one minute, the vibration motor is not over heat.
thx for the 'shake it' hint, it works! :good:
Me too!
when the vibration motor stopped vibrating. I shake it and vibrating is normal.
Hello I have thé same issu With z1 i change the vibrator too and put à New back cover for the water resistance !!!!
And everything is good know
Where did you buy the motor from? I'd like to replace mine, but because I'm having an issue with the vibration being WAY too intense on my z1c.
It's obnoxiously loud, and more disruptive than my phone volume being on. I've had to turn off all haptic feedback because anyone within 10 feet of me can hear the feedback. If I get an incoming message or notification while I'm on a call, the person on the other line can hear it very loudly too. I've tried to go through the settings to see if there is a way to turn down the haptic feedback, but I only found one under the stock keyboard settings and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Proximity sensor emits IR always

I recently find out that my S9 keep emitting IR from the proximity sensor, is that normal or it's something not right happening on my phone.
P/s: I did some Google and found out that S9 has 2 proximity sensors, but why it has to be two of them but not one like other phones?
Also the IR led on the video below can only be seen via a surveillance camera, not via other phone's camera.
Please see my video

I have CCTV on my house and at night when people walk past using their phone you can see the same thing, probably for the "Block accidental touches in a dark place", as the screen off when making a call 'should' only activate the IR when you are on a call
Also if you are playing a voice message on WhatsApp and put your hand too close the to proximity sensor it stops the playback
Phone camera as an IR block filter to filter out IR, although you can still see TV Remotes IR with it
Thank you for your comment, but event when I turn that function off, the IR still blinking.
I know I may just being over-thinking but it's bugging me still.
Even though I could not see it blinks but I still know it's blinking always without any explanation.
Easy screen turn on
I finally know the reason why.
It's the "Easy screen turn on" feature that keep the proximity sensor emitting IR.
Once turn it off, the sensor no longer emits IR.

Vibration motor too low

Whenever i put my mobile on vibration mode and put it in my pocket i miss my phone calls because of this low intensity vibration motor. Is this the same way with you?
Is there any way to change the vibration settings?

It seems to be working normally for me, but I usually refrain from using vibrating alerts as they can damage stuff internally and even more when they vibrate strongly. I'd say vibration on my device is standard.
You can specifically test target the vibration motor using the MIUI Hidden Settings app from XDA Labs, you cannot change intensity of it, just test it the motor.
I am not aware of app or patch to change vibration intensity.
Maybe your device is defective (an other user complains not having any vibration at all as you saw) or coming from an other devices that used to vibrate with more intensity you are feeling the gap idk, but in order to see if that's your device or all device the same, you could go to a store selling it to test how the vibration is there on the devices they are selling.
This way you would be able to know if that's common for all production or just your device and act accordingly.
Good luck,
Regards,

Disable proximity sensor

I have not luck with an aliexpress screen replacement, the screen has not the holes for light sensor an proximity sensor. So the light sensor is not problem, i can manual adjust the bright level, the real problem is the proximity sensor, i need to disable because when i receive a call the screen is enable and earphone speaker is disable, so the only method to manage a call is with hands free.
Any idea???
