I'm disappointed ICS no longer have old schools alarm sound like ring and buzzer.
Is there any way to add these manually then assign it on alarm or could it be baked or added to custom roms

Yes; stick the MP3 in the "Alarms" folder.
OK! Will try it later, I'm going to have to find those loud and annoying ringtones. Thanks!

Hi I hate the stock alarm tone and I use the google now to set my alarm but then I have to go into settings and change the tone it defeats the purpose of the voice activation. So I am using AOKP M6 right now and in the future I will be using the aokp jb from when it gets out of alpha stages so can anyone help?
Edit: I see that it is in the build.prop it says alarm=then the name of the alarm.ogg. so if I change it to buzzer_alarm.ogg then it will work? I don't want to f anything up
no one knows how to do this? Really ?
I've never actually changed the sound of the alarm on my phone, but if the location of the alarm file is indeed where you say; you could create a nandroid backup, change the alarm tone, and if it fails/breaks something, restore from your backup.

Lol. Just use a dang third party alarm app. Alarm Clock Extreme is awesome. And of course you can change alarm sounds. Easy fix and better than the system alarm. Been using it for years.

I just copy the alarm sound from other roms and push them to system/media/audio/alarms and write permissions rw-r-r-

Apparently, I was trying to figure out if we could set custom alarm ringtones on my phone, but it turns out all the alarm ringtone files on the system are under a different file extension. Can anyone help me out with this issue?
Many thanks is appreciated.

I dont think you can't change the ringtone in the ICS stock alarm. You could however install the stock GB Alarm and customize the ringtone.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just use those alarm apps instead I guess. Lol.
Are you talking about alarm&clock?
I know android uses .ogg files for ringtones, don't know if it helps

You have to turn off the "style settings" under "advanced alarm settings"

Try deleting the current alarms in the stock app and create new ones. When choosing the alarm sound, you should see in the list any sound file in the /Alarm folder of the internal SD memory. I think when you flash a new firmware the alarms are restored from the Google account but you can't change the alarm sound in those, so you have to delete them and create new ones from scratch.

Hi All,
I wanted to try a 3rd party Alarm app.... Here is what happen...
Rather than disable the builtin alarm app on my LG Optimis G phone running 4.2.2 ..CM 10.1 i did the silly thing and removed it via the hold down and the uninstall option from setting menu.
Now that has stuffed up my alarm some how and any other 3rd party alarm i have installed , When alarm goes off they both have no options to turn off or snooze it anymore... i tried to remove it went to reinstall the alarm again..but when alarm goes off there is still no options that pop up to turn off or snooze the alarm. I have to reboot the phone to turn alarm off.
Tried to reinstall Gapps but didnt fix either.. Any advise how i can remove the original alarm and reinstall it without a cmplete reinstall of the Rom... Yes phone is rooted.
Thanks in advance
Snap
I found a work around app that now makes the alarm work properly.. Alarm One app works ...
You could of pushed an alarm app from another ROM using adb, or copy it into system/app directory and reboot.

Not being able to configure the snooze length or number of snoozes in the stock alarm/clock app is a terrible design. I know there are a ton of other alarm clock apps out there on the play store, but I'm hesitant to switch to one of those, not being a system app.
Would using a third party app and disabling the built clock cause any problems?

I don't know if I would disable the built in clock, if i did i would test out my clocks and alarms all day before i tried to use it for a wake up. I would be most worried about the volume, ya know is it still gonna alarm if i had my phone on silent..
For those interested. I ended up installing Timely and leaving the stock app alone. Timely works perfectly and gives more options than stock.
