815, 810, or next Nexus? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Of what's currently available, the G4 is my top choice. I'd like to flash ROMs, kernels, etc. I know we have unreleased root on the G4 so it's only a matter of time. Bootloader is a different story at the moment, except for the EU 815 that will void warranty if unlocked. I am contemplating buying an EU 815 (I will be in Europe soon and can purchase one there), buy a subsidized 810 from At&t, or just get the latter to hold me over until the next Nexus is released (I don't want the nexus 6). Given the options above, which would you choose and why? Thanks in advance.

[Q] Importing question

I really want to throw my money at someone to get the Galaxy Nexus, and since I'm on AT&T, I don't think I'll be seeing it officially supported anytime soon, and I'd have to buy it off contract anyways.
Is there a difference between getting the European and Canadian versions (in terms of software)? Would one receive updates faster than another? (The European Xoom is always slower to update than the U.S. version). Also, would a Canadian version be carrier-branded?

There's no difference between the two. And so far the only carrier branded nexus is the Verizon flavor. (Not really a nexus anymore if you ask me)
I would wait, because the Canadian Nexus will be cheaper and hopefully fix the volume bug before it ships. Also, warranty replacements will be much easier if you get a North American unit.
As far as updates, they should be the same for both units, only the LTE models will have a different update schedule.

Questions about the G4 H810 with FM radio from Hong Kong

I see this from Hong Kong on Ebay: 3 Colors 5.5" Unlocked LG G4 AT&T H810 32GB Smartphone 4G LTE 16MP 3GB RAM Radio. The Radio is described as FM with RDS. I don't know exactly what that means but it looks like it comes with a real fm radio.
The most interesting item is
Operating System
Android 5.1 Lollipop
Firmware update
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
I don't know if that means the update is already installed or not. If not I think the 810 can be bootloader unlocked and rooted, again I am not positive but from what I have read it that was the way I understood it, but the bootloader has been locked for so long I dont think has been a lot of custom rom development. I may send the seller a message and see if I can find out the OS.
Price for this is $128, with 30 day money back return after i receive it (i pay shipping to send it back), which could take a while, and a one year warranty but I am not sure if LG US honors the warranty. At least with the long shipping time I could read up some on root methods (if possible). I also wonder if it gets an 810 update how that would effect the FM radio since the US versions have the radio disabled. Lots of questions but this could be nice. I have a phone on AT&T and get 4g LTE in my house so even at worst I would think without rooting and just staying stock this could get me a couple of years or so use until 5g starts forcing people to upgrade.
If anyone knows anything about these Hong Kong 810 G4's any info would be very helpful.

Experiences with SM-G9600 (Snapdragon Unlocked Version)?

Hi, I'm looking to see how many people on here have gotten the SM-G9600 variant--that's the international unlocked Snapdragon one, with an unlocked bootloader (and able to flash treble universal images, albeit at the cost of some Samsung-specific features).
I want the snapdragon variant because it has better graphics performance, and CDMA flexibility if I ever need to switch carriers (I'm in the USA). Although as of now I'm planning on using it with AT&T.
For those who have gotten this model, what do you think of it? Was it a good choice? Have you had to flash different firmware to get it to work on your home network? Was the process pretty painless, or did you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it set up how you like it?
I got the SM-G9600 (SM-G9600/DS) online from Hong Kong and am using it in Australia. It works perfectly here straight of the box. Works with the full range of 4G+ (LTE) networks. The only thing that doesn't work is the VoLTE (though once a method for root on the snapdragon s9 is found, a CSC change would change this).
Would recommend.

Awesome! If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy it? I've seen some on Amazon, but I'm not sure the best way to import it. I think ideally I'd get either a Hong Kong or a Latin American one (I hear the Chinese ones tend to have some bloat added), but I don't think I'll have an easy time specifying which kind to an Amazon merchant, ha.
Since the bootloader is unlocked, I don't think getting root should be tremendously difficult. Hopefully that means it will come soon :fingers-crossed:

Need some help with S9 model numbers

Hi all. I'm looking to ditch my iPhone for an S9 (woohoo! right?).
When I bought my last Galaxy I remember having to choose between different model numbers. If I remember correctly the international variant was the one to go with since it had a better processor, etc. I'm looking at BHPHOTO which seems to be the best for deals. From what I can tell I need (and what my cheap$#% is hoping because it's the cheapest) is the SM-G960UZKAXAA. For the record I'm on Verizon. I go prepaid and buy phones retail - so much cheaper - a discussion for another time maybe.
Please shoot me your thoughts on the model number that would be best for me. Cheers!
G960F is the international bootloader unlocked Exynos version, Snapdragon US models are BL locked (No custom roms)

Note 10 plus variants. Which one to buy to be able to root? Can't find a clear answer

Hi. Today I decided to go on eBay and buy a Note 10 Plus (here in the UK). I cannot live without root, and reading through some threads I've learned that only some variants can be rooted. I don't seem to be able to find a definite answer on existing threads, and I just want to make sure I buy the right one. Which one should I buy? Thank you.
anyone, please?
A few answers for you.
I've seen (not 1st hand) that folks here on xda with US variants have been able to use a online pay service to get their bootloaders unlocked. This may or may not apply to the UK variants.
I'm in US but went the route of purchasing the SM-N9750/DS to have root as that service didn't exist on launch of the Note 10+.
You'd want to check to see which Bands your carrier uses with which the 9750 supports and decide from there.

It appears the Unlock method is only for US variants......you could probably message them and see if UK works with their unlock service
You know what, on second thought (unless it has changed), i thought UK variants were all unlockable......
Maybe that changed....I'm not sure
Thanks for your answers. I've been reading some more and it seems that Exynos ones are easy to unlock and the Snapdragon ones you have to use those online paid methods. Is this correct? Which variant one has more ROM development? Exynos I suppose?
Yes Exynos has way more development. (Virtually none for the Snapdragon), and yup, US and Canadian Snapdragons are locked bootloaders....while the Brazilian, Chinese and a few more international Snapdragons are unlockable like the Exynos. From my limited understanding, the Exynos variants don't perform on par with the Snapdragons...so that's something else to consider.
