Quick Charger 2.0 not working? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a Keedox quick charger 2.0 (with the logo on it) 2 days ago, well it's very deceiving as it will not always charge the phone fast, only one time over 3 I saw it really fast (65% in 30 minutes) but the rest of the time it's as slow as the normal stock HTC charger.
From the Ampere app it detected 1850mah speed till 80% then it drops to 950mah and above 90% 256mah!!!
Ok I bought it for just 13$ but how qualcomm approved to give them the logo if they are too slow?
Could it be my Rom the culprit? Viper 2.3
I remember back with my S6 it was blazing fast with the samsung charger

I'm using this Qualcomm fast charger 2.0 and it's fast works great every time.

That's how the 2.0 works. I'm using Aukey's 20. charger. The lower your phone, the faster it charges and as it approaches full charge, it drops the current down. A neat way to look at it is to take your phone below 10% then use the 2.0 charger up to 95%, then look at the battery usage chart, you would see the different charging rates on that chart.

How long does it take to charge GS3?

My GS3 takes about 3-4 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. I am on stock and am using the OEM wall charger that came with the phone. Is this normal?
Mine takes around an hour or two I believe it used to take around the same as yours but it doesn't last as long. But how long does yours last

Mine take over 2 hours from 5% to 100% using stock wall charger,,, 3 to 4 seen like a lot.
The answer is... it depends.
If you're charging with the phone on, it will take longer, if you're charging via a usb port, it will take longer.
If the phone is off and you're using the stock wall charger, you're charging at a maximum of one amp. If you have a stock 2100mah battery (2.1 amp-hours) and your charger is 100% efficient (never happens), the best possible 0-100% charge time is... 2.1 hours, it really is that simple
Now, you're not getting 100% efficiency, plus the way lithium batteries charge, at around ~50% capacity, the charge current steps down gradually from 1 amp to nearly 0 amps, so your real full charge time with phone off is probably going to be closer to 4 hours than 2. The step down is necessary to avoid over-charging. The logic (usually in the battery itself for phone batteries) to determine full charge is when the battery reaches 4.2 unloaded volts. Charging current will increase the voltage reading, so as it gets closer to full, charge current is gradually stepped down to maintain the 4.2 volt full charge state. As the current approaches zero and volts stay at 4.2, the charge controller knows that the battery is full.

3 hours is the average using the included 1amp A/C charger.
Charges 10% about every 15 minutes for 0% to 90%, and charges the last 10% in about half an hour.
(don't bother trying to charge using your computer's 0.5amp usb port, though; takes forever, especially if you're using it while charging)
There are reports that the charger that came with the s3 is garbage.
I was using the s2 cable to charge and it took approximately 1.5 hours.
Now it's taking 3 - 4 hours.

The charger that comes with the S3 is NOT garbage. I tested charging times against a "better" 2.1amp charger about a month ago and there was no difference. (If your custom kernel supports "fast charge", then there'll be a difference, but your battery will suffer. Better to stick with 1amp)

Flashed JB today. Phone currently charging. Started charging at 2%, now at 41% and it's been 45 min. Estimate completion time, 1 hour 45 min.
So the culprit is not the USB charger, but rather something I had installed on ICS. I suspect it is the launcher I was using, which was GO launcher. Prior to JB, i was using apex and it was charging a little bit faster than GO, but still wasn't acceptable. I think it was 3ish hours for full charge.
My current JB setup is pure stock launcher and apps.
With stock charger it takes my phone approximately 2.5 hours to go from 5% to 100%.

I can confirm that,my AT&T S3 has been charging with that charger for 6 hours and I am still showing a 50%,so I had to grab a Motorola charger and it went up from 50% to 73% in half an hour.
Freaking Samsung,there's always something.
I'm on Slimbean 4.2.1 RC1 w/ lean kernel and my phone will usually last (with average daily use) about 3 days on one charge. The rom/kernel supports fast charge so I can get it from 0-100% charge in under an hour and a half. On stock rooted rom I was getting maybe a day and a half of battery life. Darned AT&T bloat lol

So how do we decide the most efficient charging method possible? How do we look at the Amperage of the battery and the amperage of the charger and decide what's best?
Also what's faster? Wall charging or fast/quick charging to a USB line?

This doesn't mean you battery is "on charge" for all the time... once the battery is 100%, the charge changes to something called "trickle charge". At this point charge does not happen continuous, but like a trickle to maintain the 100%.
Pull the phone out at the end of 8 hours of charge, and notice how quickly it goes to 99. Pull it like 10 mins after it says full, and it takes longer to go to 99%.

Higher amps charge battery faster... but... at the cost of capacity... At approximate 10% more charge than the battery is optimized of, it kills the battery by as much as 30% sooner. So its not really worth that. At the same time lowering the amps by 10% increases life by about 20-30%.

Very slow charging...

Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is it just how long it takes to charge this tab?
Plugged into the charger for an hour with the tablet off and it's only charged 15%. So it's going to take 6 and a half hours to fully charge?
Also the battery seems to die pretty quickly from just normal Web browsing. From 40 to 15% in an hr.
Battery life / charging / Simpsons tapped out lags / lots of stuttering with TouchWiz...
I want to be happy with this tab but it hasn't been easy
My battery life improves after a few charging cycles. I found Samsung charger is slow but not too bad. Mine charges about 30% an hour with tablet powered on but not in use. It goes a lot faster when using Nook HD charger, though both have 2.0A output.
My Note 3 charges so much faster that it's not even funny. And considering it's 10000 mAh...
Yep charges super slow. No idea why. Also drains super fast surfing web. People talk about getting 8 hours on this. Im lucky to get 4 but then again i like brightness high.
Use a launcher to improve Touchwiz stutter (funny that some folks complain about this stutter thing - on 10.5 have never experienced it even without a launcher).

I always kill apps when I'm done with them. Guess I'll give rooting and removing all the Samsung apps a shot.
I got some decent battery life out of mine when I had it about 6-8 hours mixed use. Def noticed a big drop when surfing the web using white backgrounds. Charging also was painfully slow on mine I think around 3-4 hours from 0 to full charge for me when not in use.
It's been a staple of their latest tablets unfortunately. Just make sure you're using the stock cable/adapter as some of the aftermarkets don't have enough power. For example, I have a 10 foot cable but it only puts out one third the power then the included power cable using the same adapter.
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Try using Galaxy Charging Current lite it helped me. I was using a Anker intelligent charger and it took forever to charge it. App showed current at 350-450mA. Used Samsungs and it showed 1800mA.
I have to agree, just received the tablet today albeit stressed out to the max because the fedex guy marked it as delivered when it wasn't to squeeze out extra minutes for a break (seriously?!?) I thought it got ripped off! So, back to the battery, I turned on the tab, beautiful this thing is by the way...and was at 62% out of the box. I began charging it using the included power cable and adapter, and 3 hours later I realized just how long this was taking to charge. Granted I was using it practically the whole time, I am hoping a higher amp charger will fix this for me.
Yup it took me 5.5 hours to charge fully. I'd be lucky if i get 5 hours of usage before the juice runs out.
8.4 inch charges fines here. 2.5 hours max, powered on or off.

Charge time isn’t particularly fast on any of the devices, but the 10.5-inch model in particular takes a while to make it to a full charge. The 10.5 will reach a 90% charge in just under 4 hours, but to make it to 97% takes another hour and the last 3% takes another 42 minutes on top of that. Usable charge time is competitive, but if you’re obsessive about always charging to 100% the 10.5-inch model does take a while to get there.

Slow charging NO charging
I hope this is okay to post here since it is a charging problem. I am on my third SM t-800. Mine stop charging all together! First one charged one time then stopped. Second on would not charge at all, It used up its factory 45% that it shipped with and nothing more. Third one was best by far and charged untill this moring and has stopped. Now, here are the details. I checked the cord by pluging into my note 3 on all of them. Infact my wifes Note 2. They charge fine. I don't have my ameter to check ampers but they clearly are delivering volts to the other devices. Now get this. I have a Bose external speaker that uses a mini usb. I plugged that one into the tablet and it is charging right now. Of note I had a concern that maybe some how the socket was bumped on the tab and somehow messed it up. But that is a long shot since the first two were used while only on a desk. So this third one has been supper "babied". I'm so frustrated right now.
BTW my first tab charged very slowly. 6-7 hours or so. Maybe more? I feel at this point the pins in the tab are not making contact. Any thoughts?

Just got of the horn w/ Samsung. Got issue taken care of. In short, the phone tech mentioned ampreage and I yanked the AC transformer off the wall and checked it. The factory transformer is 5.3v. 2.00ampers. In the dark last night i plugged into a "white" charger. An ipad charger I think, that is 5.2v. 2.4amp transformer. I switched the cord to the corect transformer and the tab is charging. Apparenty the chip in the tab was protecting the unit from over ampreage and it shut down charging. I know better than this and feel like a fool but thought I should let you all know what happened. This brings up a issue. Slow charging.... could the slowness be caused by a transformer with say 1.5 amps? Maybe the tab will let it charge but at a slow rate? Just a thought. Moral of the story for me? Plug in the tab in a lighted area, and into the correct charger.

Charging is a little slow, but the battery is large, so i accept that, but when it's charged 100% it lasts for ages. Faster charging shortens the life of the battery anyway. I could easily get 7- 8 hours constant surfing out of this tab. I've been on it now for over 2hrs surfing and it's used 13% . I always use auto brightness.
I get 6-8 hrs of mixed use, YouTube, surfing the Web and some movies with a little gaming. It takes me around 4 hrs to fully charge. Battery life is average. I'm using a 10.5 LTE.

Technically this is not true at all. It is heat that hurts batteries. You can charge as fast as you want as long as you keep it cold. That being said, Lithium Ion batteries will take a much faster charge rate and not cause heat. You could easily charge this battery in 2 hours, but the common chargers aren't that powerful.

Very slow charging

Anyone else notice that with the supplied charger charging ins't what it should be. My iPhone 5 charged almost twice as fast as this phone. I find it kind of annoying. I did order one of these chargers hoping that solves the issue.

I've been using the GS4 charger, with a high output cable. The Samsung charger is 1.5A where the HTC m8/m9 charger is 1.0A
the supplied charger is definitely giving 1.5 amps to mine. charges up pretty quick. with a quickcharge 2.0 charger it's crazy fast to charge.
One thing to note is it will take a faster charge the lower the battery level is, which means more heat. if you're also gaming with it, you could be bumping against the battery charging cutoff temperature. I only ever saw this happen on my Tegra HOX+. IIRC HTC has the notification LED blink in alternating green and orange/red when this happens. I'm guessing you would have mentioned temperature in the OP if this was the case, but I figured I'd bring it up.

Sorry, meant it was 1.5a for HTC and 2.0a for the Samsung one. Didn't have them on hand to check.
iPhone 5 battery is 1,440 mAh... M9 battery is 2,840 mAh. 50% charge of Iphone battery doesn't equal 50% charge of M9 battery, in terms of charge time.
I believe the rate of charging to decrease while you use it to prevent the phone from overheating. (My M8 does this as well)
My stock charger is fast, and my quick charge 2.0 is crazy fast.

Yeah, this. I got an HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 for it just to be sure since I knew with certainty it's Quick Charge 2.0. In retrospect perhaps not the best move considering I'm essentially incentivising HTC for not including one in the box from the get go, but whatever.

Yup i got the same issue gonna take me 6-11hrs to charge and its very slow charging
I had a similar problem to OP. The second night I had my phone I plugged it in at 11 pm with about 5% battery left and went to bed. At 5:15 the next morning (6 hours later) it was only at 85%. I can't tell if there's still a problem or I just think there is because I'm paranoid about it now. I haven't run my battery down that low since, and looking at the charge current with Ampere seems somewhat inconclusive. I may have to run it down and then keep an eye on it while charging to see what's going on.
Something IS wrong with SOME M9 phones (I think)
I have one of the "bad" ones. Mine takes hours and hours to charge, whether on the cable and plug that came in the box, or on any others that I have around - some I know are 2 Amps. I think there is something seriously wrong with some of these phones, based on what I am reading in this thread, and on my own example. I have had my M9 for just a few days.
I'd like to post a follow up to this thread after having the phone for a couple of weeks now.
I've had several occurrences where my phone didn't fully charge overnight. The worst was a few days ago, I plugged it in at 5% and the next morning (6-8 hours) it was at 1%, it actually lost charge. I noticed before unplugging it so I looked at the history in Battery Widget Reborn and it showed the battery level just slowly dropped from 5% to 1% without any jumps or dips. The battery icon at the top of the screen showed it was charging but it died at that point so I didn't get a chance to open Ampere.
I think it's the charger (and/or the cable) that came with the phone. I've tried several other chargers that have all worked reliably:
- The QuickCharge 2.0 charger that came with my wife's S6 charges my phone really fast.
- I have a Kmashi external battery that also seems to charge it relatively quickly.
- Two older chargers that are several years old (both rated 5 volts at 0.7 amps) charge it from around 30% to full in 3-5 hours.
At first I thought it might have been a wakelock problem, but the battery has been dropping so slowly when the phone is just sitting in my pocket that I'm confident now that it's not wakelocks. I don't know if HTC is likely to send a replacement, but I'm going to stop into the Verizon store that I got the phone from to see if they'll replace it.
Gilligan
My phone is also odd when charging.
Half of the time it takes 6 hours or more to charge. If I look at GSAM battery monitor it shows a charge current of around 350mA. If I then unplug the charger and reconnect after 15 seconds I get over 1300mA charging current, most of the time. (It takes GSAM a while to show an accurate reading). Occasionally it will take a few tries to get it right. Once I get a good reading over 1300mA the phone will charge in 1.5 hours like it should.
Something very buggy about this phone's charging circuit. I get the same behaviour with all chargers and cables, even my battery bank.

I use a 2A tablet charger from my hp touchpad. Charges from dead to 100% in 45 minutes.

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Honor 8 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

The Honor 8 does support quick-charging, however, which provides several hours of battery life within minutes.

I also have a question, compare to OnePlus 3, which one charges faster?

I would like to know this as well
Definitely the one plus 3. Dash Charge gets from 0 to 60% in 30 minutes even if you use it. And the phone keeps cool while charging.
Charging is fine it quick charges till 50% and then slower .
Happens on most smaprtphones, fast on the first half, slower on the other one...even the 1+3
Hi There, your Honor 8 phone comes with a 9 V 2 A high voltage quick charger. It also supports 5 V 2 A chargers. Make sure you buy an official Huawei 9 V 2 A charger; unofficial quick chargers will not work properly. If you need a quick charger, you can buy one from Huawei Vmall or official Huawei experience shops. Charging times may vary depending on the ambient temperature and the remaining battery level. (NS)
It's pretty good, although my old Zenfone 2 used to charge faster.
big like
ok
Are quick chargers available or not yet?!

That info was already given: H8 comes with 9V fast charger. Search forum. Even from a Huawei support member.
Charge is enought fast , from 7 % to 100 % , about 1h30min .
Charging speed is good but not the fastest out there, my old Acer phone with 3500 mah was a bit slower but certainly not miles behind. But for me it is fast enough.

Just compared the 1+3 and the honor8. while honor charges fast, 1+ is way way faster. almost 1/2 of the time
rapid charging speeds
Doea chargw fast enough, takes around 1:30hours from 10-100
It's good enough for me. But it's hard to buy Huawei's power bank which was told to be the only one compatible with Huawei's fast charging chip tech. I am in the US BTW.
My Honor 8 charges in 1:45 hrs.
Hii to all Honor 8 owners
I have discharged the battery all the way till the phone powered off
Then I did not turned it on and pluged it on the charger
The phone turned off at 2%
It took from 2% to full charged 100% about 1 hour and 35 minutes
I'm very satisfide with that charging speed
And at 2% it gives a warning messege that in 30 seconds the phone will shut down.
So, it is not just shutting down without notice like most phones
Amazin SOT on Nougat
7 hours and 40 minutes

Make sure the charger you received has the output at 2A. I've seen some come with 580mA (I don't know why.). It should be 2A, and charge quickly.
this is the specification found from charger
INPUT:100-240V-50/60Hz 0.3A
output :5.2v---2A
please tell me it is correct specfication if not or not

That's correct. I don't know why it's taking so long to charge for you. It should charge a lot faster. I put mine on the charger at 48%, and it was at 93% an about an hour. Maybe it's a defective charger, or even something wrong with the outlet. Does it happen on all outlets you plug it into?
yes i have tried all outlet but same effect on every outlet!
my friend have the same device it does not have any problem at all. so i thought exchanging charger now i have to wait to until the battery is empty.
hope this will work
Fast charging or quick charging can be affected by either the wall charger or the cord itself. Since the specifications on the wall charger look correct I would suggest try another cord.
A lot of the ones you buy at say a gas station, or a grocery store or just poor crappy cords, and only really meant for charging and not even data throughput, just your "basic" charging cords, meaning no fast charge or anything so it can take forever to charge your phone.
I had this issue where had a Samsung fast charge wall charger, that I use on every phone I get, and yes it does work on every phone I have tried it on, so I know it does fast charge.
What I ran up against was the cord being the problem, I went thru like 2-3 different cords before I found one that worked right, and it took me near a month of frustration and trying things before I finally figured out it was the cord, not the wall charger.
I have the same problem too, my moto E4 plus take more than 4 hours to charge (20%--->100%)
I use too the original charger and cord.

What's up fellas? I just got one of these yesterday and it's having some serious charging issues. In my case, it's not the charger, it's the phone. I think the problem is that I just got it and I'm not leaving it alone while charging. Too much setting up going on and stuff like that. Not to mention, I'm a Real Racing 3 junky. When the phone gets hot it slows down the charging to try and stay cool. My 2 amp charger is working fine, but the charge rate the phone is allowing is only around 300-400mAh when it's hot. I was wondering if one of you guys who's phone is charging very fast could try charging it under stress and see if it slows down like mine does. If yours still charges fast while hot, then I'll know that mine is defective and I'll take it back. One quick and easy way to tell is with the Ampere app. I actually made a little review/tutorial for it on YouTube if you'd care to check it out. Anyway, I'd sure appreciate if one of you could let me know if I need to exchange this one. Thanks a lot guys. By the way, I know it's not the charger because it's putting out 1800mAh when I plug it into my S5. Thanks again.

My e4+ took 2 hours with the 10 watt (AC) fast charger that came in the box with it. I'm using a much slower DC USB 2.0 charger in my vehicle and it normally stays status-quo while charging. I can go a solid 4 days between charging, but I normally re-charge the device while I sleep.
I have been using moto e4 plus from last three months and it usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours to charge 100%.
Hope It helps.:good::good:
My moto e4 plus suddenly stops charging at 80% i put it there for half an hour then I change the outlet, then it charged very fast 80-100 in 20 mins..What is the reason behind this?
