exactly every week, the same day and a exact hour, minute. my 816 shuts down eaven with 80 procent of battery and when i put it to charge then it flashes the battery led at first and then it shows the battery charging 0 procent about a half an hour and then it starts to charge...
i dont know if it is a new kind of a battery calibration or what but can you please tell me what it is... and if you think that my battery is starting to die then you mistake, it lasts normally for 2 days and sometimes eaven 3 days somy battery is fine
one more thing my phone is like every other 816 but at the box it showed something like ( HTC Desire 816 prototype early release release) mayby that is the point of weird behaviours like the battery and keyboard not popping up when i need it etc..
thanx in advice

The last 2 days i noticed some battery % jumps. Sometimes it jump from 39 to 33 for instance
Is this normal ?
I've seen it in Battery monitor widget (1minute refresh rate) but also in the stock android battery menu (straight vertical line).
It happens in an instant, i can see it jump before my eye from 39 to 33.
Yes happens quite a lot when coming from sleep. OTA should fix this.
I've had that on other phones as well. For me it's not a "jump", but rather like it consumed 6& in 1min... That's supposed to be normal, if you are really curious, you could try wiping your battery stats though.
Oh no. This happens on my nexus one and my Sensation. Don't tell me this happens again on the One X.

Phone was not shutting down on 0% ?
I thought to let the phone battery die to solve the issue, but i noticed that the phone was not shutting down on itself ?? it kept running on 0% and voltage decreased to 3000mV ?? (isn't that way to low ?)
I tried to power it off and on again, but it didn't boot. So i put the phone on the charger and the orange led kept blinking ??
Eventually i held down the power button and then it started to charge and i could boot again.
But what's the problem with my phone ? shouldn't it shutdown @ 0% battery on itself to prevent battery damage?
Hey guys,
Assuming you have read the title there is something weird about my phone.
It shuts down at 40-50% battery (before it shutsdown it says empty battery briefly and then the htc flash screen appears and shutsdown).
The weird thing is the following:
It shuts down at let's say 40% battery, but when it re boots the battery is litterly empty (even when i boot in recovery it says --%, and when i plug the charger it starts at 0% again).
I have tried:
Battery Calibrator
Empty full fill up with wall charger and also tried usb charger.
Screaming @ phone
wiping battery data in recovery (4ext recovery)
The thing i am most confused about is that it goes out at 40% and when i turn it on again it's 0%. This never happened as it happened for the first time 2 weeks ago, confused. I tried different roms and it still happens (even ICS roms).
I wouldn't really mind if my phone would shut down at say 20% when it says actually it's @ 20. But as i said before: It says it's 40 (batterij indicator htc sense half full) and then shutsdown realizing after reboot it's completely empty.
Any help is much appreciated!
Mendel
Shutting down on let's say 15-20% is quite normal, but I never heard of one shutting down at 40%
Are you using the stock battery, that came with your device?

Any chance to try another battery? Seems really strange cause in most cases if you wipe battery stats you get your phone shutdown at 20%, not 50%.
Its most likely a bad battery that needs to be replaced specially if tue same thing happens when using a different rom.

Yeah i know it seems so weird that's why i started this thread.
Before i buy a new battery:
What could be the cause that the phone goes out at 40% (or 30) and when it reboots it's empty.
Seems like the phone or the battery aren't in "sync" until it reboots to show it's empty.
Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks!

I'd like to think of it similar to laptop batteries that have gone bad... you plug your laptop to it's power supply, it says fully charged but as soon as you pull it out from it's power supply it drops to 50% in minutes and then goes off. The battery cannot hold the charge anymore.
It can only mean that the battery's life is at an end. The only thing you can do is to change it. I suggest that you stick to original HTC battery as the "ChinaMade" ones will die a lot faster and you'll have to change it sooner than this one.
Regards.

Hey guys!
I know this thread is started since several months but I actually have the same problem : I have a HTC Desire and its shuts down at about 50% and when I reboot it, it says the battery is empty.
I tried several times to recalibrate the battery (and to do all the things MendelMusic said in his post actually) but nothing changed.
MendelMusic, did you finally manage to solve your problem?
Anybody have a solution or any ideas?
Thanks!

Battery drain?
It's called battery drain. I have it too, but only at 10/20%?
If someone knows a fix, please send it to me
AW: Htc Desire Shuts down at 40-50% battery
Probably your batteries are just weak now. I'd recommend you all to invest 5 bucks in a new battery. Actually that helped at my old desire. Greetings
Thanks for your answers!
I tried the link of madreef and it didn't change. I will try again, maybe I did it wrong (hope it will work this time...)
@dschibril : I don't think my battery is weak because the problem occured as soon as I changed the ROM (CM10). The battery was perfectly ok before that.

Hello, I have the same problem with you. Did you manage to fix it and how? Have you tried a brand new battery so far?
It has to do with the Desire's poor battery age management system. Li-Ion batteries age, meaning that, as time passes, they're gonna be able to hold less and less milliamps. After almost two years, my Desire's battery can only hold 82% of the original ~1400 mA charge.
The only way around this is to use the Nexus One Battery Calibrator (Nexus One and our Desire share the same hardware underneath the hood). You'll need a compatible kernel and some patience. Instructions in this post.
My 2 cents: if your battery is only able to hold less than say 75%-80% of its original charge, then you should replace it. Li-Ion batteries age in such a way that they suddenly go dead, so it's not worth taking the risk.
Later Edit - If your Desire shuts down at say 40% - 50%, that means that your battery is 40% or 50% gone, so it's time for a replacement. I'd still try the battery calibration method i wrote about in the above post, just to determine if it's a freak software error or the battery's fault.
P.S. - Wiping battery stats does nothing to solve most issues (for the Desire, at least).
My phone turns off sometimes at 50%, sometimes at 80% of battery.
I have new battery now (original one) and it is the same. Phone turns off, only when it is connected to charger it does not.
Hiii
My hTC Desire 728 shut down when then battery showing 50% to 60% in charge. What is the remedies?
Hello, I have just bought the One X for 2 days and I have noticed a strange problem of battery. Every time I turn on the camera the battery immediately lower by 3 percents, even if I turn it on and then exit within 1 second, the amount of draining is still 3%. That's crazy. Does anyone have this problem or know the possible solution? Thankz I'm at the 1.29 build
whatever i do my battery drains from 100-60 quick but 60-0 slow as i get 4-5hrs screen time. I dont pay attention to the % drop because it doesnt seam right. What screen time are you getting thats more important.
Hey all,
I have the wildfire running with a stable CM nightly (forgot exact version, but already a good year old I think and never any problem with the battery). I have not recently done anything special with my phone (no new radio, ROM, updates, new apps, ...) but since a week or two I have the following problem:
Charging the phone takes first of all ages to reach 100%. And when it's charged, it will crash about 4 hours later. The battery indicator will be at about 35% or higher just before it crashes (thus not at 0). When I reboot (while charging after the crash) however, it says 0 or 1% left. When I then go to the settings -> about phone -> battery , the battery life just INSTANTLY drops from about 60% to zero (see picture)
This problem appeared pretty out of nowhere. Is this a battery calibration problem, or do you guys think the battery is just at the end of its life? I'm aware that this could just be it since the phone is almost 3 years old (bought on day of release here), but it's just acting so strange.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks,
Maarten
Try the two obvious things
1- wipe dalvik cache and cache partition
2-wipe battery stats
Can you post a screenshot os the battery usage screen
The level indicator is in the first post, the usage (apps etc) I cannot do right now as after wiping it does not reboot anymore (stuck at HTC screen), but it was about 50% for signal and 50% for standby (or what are the 2 largest users in %, I forgot)
Wipe battery stats or manually delete batterystats.bin. Calibrate it. If nothing works reflash your rom. Not a battery prob.
Odp: battery weird fail/very fast discharge
I had similar situation. Change battery. It is broken probably.

There seems to be many battery problems for wildfire, I had to abandon mine because of a similar problem, except it would charge to 100% but then drop to 4% within a few hours and wiping battery cache never helped, tried my battery in another wildfire no problems so in the end I gave up with it
But I remember someone saying it was something damaged inside the phone
Anyway good look with your issue hope it gets solved.

I fixed my booting problem by reflashing the ROM. I also wiped cache/dalvik and battery stats.
The problem remains however. Stays around 100 pretty long, then goes to 80% in less than an hour. And then it crashed around something like 60%. After rebooting it said 34% left.
Guess the only thing else I can try is to completely empty the battery, then recharge it whilst the phone is off.
I'm going to buy a new smartphone soon, so it better just work another month !

Yea, wipe battery stats again, sue ur phone till its 0% and charge up to 100%, keep on charging for about 20 mins.. try then if battery shoes properly..
Doesn't seem to solve it... Completely emptied the battery (or at least I'd think it is empty, see further), then charged for like 8 hours whilst phone is off, then wiped battery stats in recovery. Then after rebooting first thing it did was crashing again.
The crashes often seem to be related with internet/apps. I now have internet and poweramp app off and it works fine (no crashes), but when I turn these on, sometimes after a minute it crashes, pretty weird
Also after some crashes, about 15 minutes later I can suddenly reboot, then it showed 15%, then it crashed again. After reboot (without any charging) it showed 65%... The indicator is completely ****ed up it seems...
Guess there is nothing to do but getting a new phone as this is too annoying. Thanks for the help though !
Batt voltage meter defect
I have a exacly same problem.
It is the voltage meter problem. Mine wildy shows 4.07V at fully charged battery which if you measure conected battery on its terminals mulitimiter shows 4.273 so its off by 0.2V. Now the phone will never light green led, it think battery is not charged fully. I checek this with 4 years old and new original htc batts. Same thing, voltage meter defect! If you charge it to full, multimeter shows 4.237V on batt terminals, reboot it and get a spike to 92% it suddenly drops to 78% even though mains charger is still connected and charging! Internal Volt meter also reads dorp from 4.07 to 4.02! :crying:
There i also thread on Desire Z forums of same thing happening here.
Is this HTC using crappy mobo components?

Htc wildfire is no more released now. It stopped in 2010. This has the answer. That is one of the bug with wildfire.

Hi, after 3 happy years with my xperia s, here it is a major issue. Three weeks ago, in the middle of a phone call my xperia shuts down (battery at about 85%) and no mean to restart, it was like dead. No led if in charge or connected to my pc. After three days, a friend opened the phone, pull of the battery, reconnected the battery and, here it goes, it started again. But, another issue now, battery drains at 10% each hour in stand by. I changed the battery with a new one, same thing, i had a hard reset, same thing. Battery status shows 30% consumed by the screen (but it was only 15 min !) and google services 25%. Anybody has an ideea how to fix it ? Thanks for your answer.
