[Q] Can't Update to lollipop - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
As the tittle says I can't update to lollipop when I go to update centre it says I am running the latest version when it is still 4.4.2, to make matters worse I can't root my G3 and install lollipop via a ROM I haven't tried with purpledrake yet but with both towel and stump root it says my phone isn't supported when I know it is because I had it rooted before and unrooted it to try get the lollipop update.
Any help?

@Harp00ner, just get hold of the appropriate LP firmware for your phone model and use the flash tool to update it. You can subsequently root your phone.. There are quite a few tools around for that.

"plz i want to know why i can't root it "
BEcause there isn't a root method available for 5.0 as of now.
"and when android 5.0 will have root access" " if it will be rooted after a while or not ???"
We don't know
If you want root, you either wait till a root method is available for 5.0, or you use Kitkat, or when you're on kitkat you root and install TWRP and after you've installed TWRP install one of the many custom lollipop roms which include root.

The fastest solution is to downgrade to KitKat, root, install prerooted version of lollipop.

no downgrading.

got my d855 yesterday. got ota update to 5.0. any knows how to root lollipop without downgrading. i like the lollipop ota. would be nice if you could root it. if no one knows then i'll stay on lollipop until someone does

What was the original country you got it from?
You need to flash kitkat rom KDZ by using your PC. There is a guide in the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Be careful and first check which model you use. I think safest bet is to flash v10a since all root programs work with that version (I think). Region of KDZ isn't that much important, but just check for 2 very important things:
1. BE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD 16GB VERSION FOR 16GB MODEL OR 32GB VERSION FOR 32GB MODEL
2. CHECK WHICH PHONE MODEL YOU HAVE (F400K,D855,D851,D852,...)
Just follow tutorial carefully and you shouldn't brick your phone. If you don't have any understanding for root, I would advise you NOT to do any flashing then.
EDIT: you can't root it on Lollipop because it has new security features which haven't been worked around yet like kitkat.
just because you can't root lollipop & have to downgrade to kitkat doesn't mean you lose lollipop, if thats what youre worried about..?
downgrade to kitkat, root, install twrp, then flash a lollipop rom.
stock based rom will be exactly the same as your OTA update, if not, a more recent version.
aosp is pure lollipop experience, like on nexus range, but with added features & functionality.
responce

Is there a working root for ZV6?

I have a sprint LG G3 currently running KitKat. The version it says is VZ6. I tried towelroot, stumproot, and purple drake, all say uncompatable. I already have an update available on stock ROM, would there be a vulnerability for that one? Or should I stay with ZV6 kitkat?

Yes, you need to unroot to install the update, if you don't you may get a bootloop.

AT&T GPad F 8.0 (V495) Marshmallow 6 OTA Upgrade Fail

Hi my friends, I am looking for a STOCK RECOVERY for my LG G Pad F 8.0 AT&T (V495). I was trying to do an OTA upgrade to 6 but after the Download and restart the installation is giving me an error because i am ROOTED. I need to flash stock recovery to be able to install new OTA upgrade to Marshmallow 6. Is someone have a 5.0.2 STOCK Recovery or maybe another idea on how can I do and upgrade to Marshmallow 6 I will appreciate any help. Thanks
Is there a KDZ or TOT available for your variant?
I am in the same boat. I can not find the stock rom anywhere. I would like to upgrade to to 6.0. I am rooted with king root. If the stock rom is not found is there a way to unroot and delete all root files so the update does not detect the root so we can update?

In order to take OTAs (starting with Lollipop) you have to never have been rooted (since the most recent time you've flashed a KDZ or TOT).
Unrooting isn't enough.
