I got a G4 last week and ended up returning it as defective and I got my new one today. I remember white colors being very clear and white on the old one, but on this new one, whites are less bright and more yellow tinted. It's not quite as yellow as the whites on my Note 4, but definitely less white than the colors on my previous G4. Does anybody have any suggestions for this? I just got this one because the battery life on my other one was bad and I don't want to have to end up returning this one as well due to a bad screen.
Return it.
Lol thanks that's super helpful

Return it agian. You are the customer, and they have to satisfy and meet your needs with there products. If it has a yellowish tint, and you dont like it, return it.
I'd be more worried about it if there weren't other threads saying the same thing. There have been people who have compared 4 different G4s and seen different display qualities on all of them. So I especially don't want to send this one back and potentially get one with an even worse screen.

I'm doing this now but with little different reason. My screen had big darker brightness in the middle of the screen. I requested for replacement and it is on its way now.
If the second one is bad again, I will ask for the third one. And the fourth one.

I've searched threads here and most of them talk about pink spots on the camera. I just bought a new T-Mo GS3, i rooted it, and then installed a stock rooted rom from here.
I don't know if it was like this out of the box, but i went on dropbox and the app is mostly white, so on the top of the screen there is like a pink spot. It's mostly visible when the phones on an app or something thats white but even when its not, its still there, just less visible. Is this a defective unit or something? :/
it's a defective unit. If you're in the exchange period take it back. This is my second white one. The first had a pink blob in the lower right hand corner you could only see on a white web page

The first thing I did with my S3 was checking the screen. My first blue one has a pink tilted screen so I exchanged it. the screen is the most important so yeah. you should exchange it asap
Damn. I bought it on ebay, no refunds. Can i just replace the screen?
I'd contact Samsung. Physical (hardware) defects are still under warranty. Should be for at least a year

I bought my s3 yesterday. and Last night going to bed I have to play with again. I noticed when I have all the brightest low I could see a lot of black dots on the screen and a lot of black lines on the bottom of the screen. Is it just mine or your is too? Again I had my lights off and put the brightest all the way down on the screen. Then try on your phone to get a black picture and you will see. I took a screenshot of it but I can only see these black stuff with low bright. If this is just me I may have to return this baby
Common issue with this phone. Also on the s2
Sent from Flip's S3
I also have the s2 and never noticed it
It's a common flaw with super amoled screens I believe
Here's a another thread on it

Yeah I noticed about the other thread. I got my phone yesterday and noticed it when I was in bed playing with it. I have the s2 t989 as well and that doesnt have the defect. I understand some of the old s2 have some defect on the screen color but this one is different. It looks like the digitizer was cracked. At the bottom it looks like a signature a bunch of black line and a lot of dots on the screen. Though when I put the brightest a little bit brighter its gone. It doesnt bother me. But This phone is new and it should not have any defect.
Common defect nbd. Not even close to how awful the backlight bleed was on my iPad 2 before I got it replaced.
I do Have the same issue but i'm not sure if goingto change my phone is under warranty!

known issue. However, my S3 doesn't have any or at least it is much much better than 2 my previous ones. (yes, I know how to check it and Im very picky; Im that kind of guy that goes to the closet to check the screen right after unboxing it). I didn't exchange my phone for this issue. i just happen to get a non-black dot one. Exchange it if you feel so. doesn't affect much tho.
This is on all OLEDs even mine, it is not defect and will not disrupt colors or brightness since they are visible only in pitch black, I don't even think they would replace your phone because of that

After a few days of use I'm realizing that, for example, in mostly white screens, it looks a little pink towards the right side (landscape), this is EXTREMELY subtle but I can really notice it in a full white screen, it's still white but with a very, VERY subtle pink tone to it, I wonder if it's a common thing....
I'm very picky, don't know if normal people would realize that (in case they have the same issue...)
It's almost half screen.... Anyone?

I'm not seeing this on my screen, but maybe my eyesight wasn't what it used to be. Try taking a screen shot and transferring it to your computer and check if the pink tone is visible from there. If not then it's probably faulty hardware.
It looks fine to me.
Since I bought it at Best Buy I returned it and got a new one, the girl gave me a little bit of a hard time because she couldn't see anything wrong with the screen... I told her it took me 2-3 days to realize there was this light pink tone towards one side and it was only visible with white backgrounds.... So at the end I was able to return it, I'm glad I did because I was getting very uncomfortable with this.... Btw, there's a very good app to test the colors on the screen, it's called Display Tester (by gombosdev).. Really nice.

I don't remember were I read that if you turn on "reading mode" will give a pink tinge to screen. I think is mentioned on the manual but not sure.
Reading mode gives a nice creamy/yellow tone throughout the whole screen (obviously) only on user selected apps.

New phone, 12 days old. I find this pretty bad, do you guys think this falls under replacement?
bump
I get similar white thing on top, but when I change to something that makes it completely black, it's gone.
I would say maybe it's the theme that has gradient colors on the side.
Try changing the theme.

I just went into my messaging app to check, mine looks nothing like that (although I have an m7). I definitely recommend you ask for a replacement, gonna be hell in the dark.
Open a picture. That should give you an all black frame.

So looks like my pixel XLs screen has uneven white tones. There is a slight pink tinge on the left side that you can see when the Night Light mode is on. Or any dark grey backgrounds. And white is warmer on the right than the left. Do you guys think this will go away or should I just exchange it? That's the only thing I find defective. Besides that, an awesome phone.

Unfortunately colour shift is a well know amoled screen issue. Some phones have it more than others, its just a lottery on the type of display you get.
You could see if they will let you exchange for one and hopefully get a better screen.
I have couple of S7 Edge and had a one plus 3, those didn't have any issues. My Nexus 6P had it the worse and got it exchanged couple of times till I got the right one. I might have to do this for the pixel. Sigh... Hate that about AMOLED

I went through 6 samsung s6's because of this. my note 5 and 7 were perfect.
At the price we paid i would exchange it until its near perfect.

If it bothers you, exchange it. Samsung has gotten better this year - both my Note7's had ZERO color shift on white which was a first for me. So far my Pixel XL looks pretty great, but I haven't tried looking too hard to see if it is a problem.

Samsung phones don't if you have the profile set to dynamic or whatever it is, it's the mode that over saturates everything. If you put it to natural then it's the same as the pixel.

OP's thread title refers to white balance which would mean color calibration/profiles, but the content of his post is actually a problem with screen uniformity. Changing the color calibration is not going to do anything if his panel is not uniform in displayed color.
Bottom half of my screen is super pink. Top half and bottom half of screen are very different colors on white and gray screens. Used the support option in the settings menu. Will have a replacement coming in tomorrow.
I went through 3 6Ps until I got an even screen, they all had tints to varying degree but the last one I got was fine.
I'm going to get mine exchanged.

Mine has is but honestly I have noticed it to a certain extent on every device I've had that had an amoled display (I have never owned a note or GS7 so I can't comment on them) but yeah, I noticed it right away. Mine is on the top half of the screen. I'm not sure if I'm going to end up exchanging it or not because I'm sure the next one will have it to an extent too and having them hold close to a G for every exchange really would suck. lol
I think some people notice more than other people. I know I notice it on other devices when the owner never does. I had a 6p that was really bad exchanged it and got one much better. I remember one dude exchanging his like 8 times and he said every single one had it.
Note: The title of this thread sound be changed to "pinkish hue" or "pink tint" or something like that

Replacement arrived today. So far seems perfect. Brand new and screen is much better. No pink tones and white balance is perfect. Very glad I did a replacement now.
Setting up was so easy. Just plugged 2 phones together and it copied everything over to the new one.

Mine as well! I ordered it today and just got shipping notification. I'll post an update when I get mine. Hope I'm as lucky as NightHawk with my replacement
Interesting. I called support today because my screen fades from white on the bottom to a creamy white at the top. This is with brightness at halfway. If it's at 100% I don't notice it, however it's way too bright to look at. Anyway, Google told me it was within standards and not replaceable.

They said if it's not noticeable within the top 1/3 of the brightness slider then its within spec. Honestly, it's probably something nobody else would notice, it's that slight. I wish there was some type of way to measure the white scale to prove I'm not crazy.

They told me the same thing. I saw it more at 1/3 brightness. I notice it less at full brightness but I still notice it
