I bought a flip cover off Ali Express. It's obviously not original but I really like the leather PU material.
The cover doesn't trigger Asus Cover properly in the circle window. The magnet on my cover is located in the cover and floats over the "back" button when closed. I'd like to try to fix the issue by moving the magnet. I've tried using another magnet to trigger the screen but cannot find the correct location.
Can someone with either the original case or the Nillikin Sparkle case that works tell me where the magnet location is please?

Use the app CPU-Z to read the values of the magnetic sensor. Then you could experiment to locate where the sensor is by placing a magnet around the phone.

Thanks. Discovered that the existing magnet is in the right place but just not strong enough. Tried to align it with a stronger magnet but still didn't work so ultimately cut it out and taped in a tiny rare earth magnet. Flip cover works fine now.

Hi,
I have similar problem (I guess).
I bought the original flip cover from ASUS, but it doesn't lock and unlock the phone properly.
I have to shift the cover far to the left, for it to be registered.
Now I am wondering whether there is something wrong with the phone,
or with the cover...
It looks like the magnet sensor in my phone is in the very left, bottom
corner of the phone. To the left and bottom of the back button.
I also checked where the magnet in the cover is.
The spot closest to that corner is almost an inch away from it.
I am attaching a photo with a little screw that was "picked up"
by the magnet in that spot. Could someone confirm where that
magnet is in the cover that does work properly?
Thanks a lot!

Have 2 covers like that and they both work fine.
Same placing of magnet. The only thing I find a problem is that it doesn't hold the cover closed so in the pocket my phone can get really hot due to the turning on and off of the screen. Now THAT'S a battery drain for you...
Thanks for the response!
So if the magnet is in the same spot, what else could be wrong?
Wrong placement of the sensor in the phone?
Also, that screw is at the edge of the magnet, not in the middle of it - which means that most of the magnet is on the left side of the screw,
closer to the middle of the cover (and the phone once the cover is closed)...

Hi. I have just inherited a zenfone 2, and as it was not working properly, i have had to do some repairs. I have changed:
- LCD screen and digitizer
- Screen frame
- Sim card and SD card board
- USB charger board
- loud speaker
- ear speaker
It all seems to be working great, except for the Flip cover, which now no longer works (it was working before I changed all the above parts)
Can anyone advise exactly where the flipcover sensor is located. I know it supposed to be near the back button, but is it located on the digitizer? or the screen? or on the USB board?
I can see the magnetic sensor is working on CPU-Z, however according to the readings, it seems to be located up near the top of the screen. I believe the Flip cover sensor isnt the magnetic sensor, but a hall-effect sensor down the bottom of the screen
Also, is there any app that can test if the Flip-cover sensor is working?

I'm so tempted on jumping on these for our phones, but I'm a little concerned with the size of the ring inside if it'll clear our squared glass lens cover.
http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/cell-phone-lenses/
From what I see I guess the ring on one side has a double sided tape? And the other side is magnetic.
Is there anyone out there that can measure in mm's and see if it'll clear our squared glass lens protector cover?
The diameters of the ring are 13.06mm (outer) and 9.38mm (inner)

i think our camera is way off to the edge... where the magnetic ring might not be able to fit properly....
but i could be wrong... since i'm just judging by the pics alone....not too sure.... has anyone tried this?

i might just have to get the wide angle/macro one!
Doing a quick measurement, I'm getting 12.5mm diagnal measurement on the lens opening on teh case. It is also 10.5mm x 10.5mm.
So, this will fit on just fine, but you won't be able to remove the battery cover (due to the ring sticking to the corners of the lens housing).
Damn that stinks, but I'm sure a little sandpaper can remove the adhesive around those corners so
i'm still willing to try it out.

Yep, some minor adjustments to the adhesive on the ring and it would work. Just get an Xacto knife and cut the corners.
I'd get a piece of thick paper...make an identical lens cover with it...then mock it up to the lens ring..and I'll then know where to cut.

Xacto knife, sandpaper will be too messy of a job and you'll have the possibility of messing it up.
Now I'm wondering if its going to be an issue to keep the T-Mobile black rubber phone case on with the ring installed.
There is a deal extreme 15mm lens which has really good corner quality. There is even a comparison video on youtube for it. It is a couple of bucks cheaper than the one you linked to.

Just ordered the fisheye from the link above. The 15mm ring will surpass the cam lens. What I'll probably do is use the extra back cover purple case and paste on the ring. So when I dont want to use it I can leave it home and use my standard blue battery case with my Tmobile rubber case. I'll post updates soon!
Would this work for a MyTouch 4G? If you've looked at it, you;ll see around the lens its kind of beveled, and the battery door would probably get stuck with the magnet they want you to put on it... also another thing to think about, magnets do damage hard drives, would it damage sd cards?

It sounds like you are missing get the rubber shroud that goes around the sensor.
I installed a new digitizer, front frame, and a screen protector once and used the phone without issues for months until the screen protector accidentally peeled off. This happened while putting into my pocket so it ended up covered in lint and couldn't be reapplied. I tried other screen protectors, tape, Sharpie-colored tape, etc and nothing but digging out my old broken part and finding/transferring the rubber piece would restore it.

I'll have to dig around and I don't know that I have one outside the phone. There is a rectangular proximity module near the speaker and front facing camera which has two optical components: an IR LED and photosensor. The sensor is supposed to pick up the reflection from the IR LED after it passes through the glass and hits a nearby surface.
When you take the digitizer and frame off, you will see a hole in the digitizer frame under the glass that covers that component. The rubber fits in this hole perfectly and may be stuck there or around the retangular proximity module. If you do not see the rubber in either place then it is missing.
The glass is probably supposed to have an IR filter there, just like iPhones. iPhone display/glass replacements often don't have the filter or don't filter as well, but the "Sharpie trick" is enough for those. Unlike iPhones, the "Sharpie trick" doesn't seem to help here... at least not without the rubber piece.

At the moment (with the phone assembled) I can see completely thought the small rectangular window on the right of the camera clearly seeing 3 circular items, so I would assume that at least one of these should be covered by the rubber? if so which one(s)?

It's an oval opening that they both see through, but I don't think the shroud is visible from outside an assembled phone. The shroud opening is also oval and may be bisected with a wall of rubber down the middle (can't recall but I don't think so). I'm still at work and don't know if I'll be able to find my parts even when I get off but I will look.

You are correct it's oval it's rectangular with rounded edges... anyway the rubber would be around this oval window? The objective of the rubber is to avoid the IR to reflect from the glass back to the Proximity sensor?

Thank You for the pictures! I will open up my phone again and look for the piece and if not found I will try and make something similar, maybe using some electrical tape or something.
UPDATE: PICTURE ADDED!
There are a total of 6 magnets on the case (as you can see in pic 1 and 2). most of you might have concerns of how the magnet will affect the tablet. i can tell you from my experience that IT DOES NOT AFFECT MY S PEN capabilities. They use the 6 magnets so that when folding the cover, it will stay together. And because of the magnet when its folded its VERY strong, not flimsy.
S Pen is also accessible shown in pic 7
Charger is accessible shown in pic 8.
Top isnt cover well, the volume and power button visible as you can see in pic 9
Overall the case is very thin, about 1.3 cm?? But it does feel like it added some weight onto the tablet.
ALSO: this case comes with a screen protector (the one that i have on, i did screw up a few times)
Lemme know if you have any questions

Well they can't hurt the memory unlike if you have a hard drive in there, but my concern is that I bought a poetic case which has two magnets on each corner of the case near the speakers. At least they aren't anywhere close to the pen.
yea thats what i was somewhat worry about. there are a total of 4 magnets (as seen from vid) and when closed all 4 are pretty much around the camera area, which is also where the mobo is located as well i think...

I have one. I think it's great, especially at that price. There's a little give in it when typing with it propped up in landscape (at a small angle, with the tablet "upside down") but it's very stable otherwise. Only other problem is that it doesn't close if anything's plugged in to the headphone jack.
My first thought was why did they not cover fully the back of the note, it looks like they have little wings sticking out the back on the sides. If they made a cover with the back completely covered with the same material I would definitely buy one.

Yeah it looks like they didnt cover the part that secured the tablet in place.
This is the case I have:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088I9AX4/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00
and I enjoy it. It covers the tablet nicely, easy access to the pen, in landscape on a table, the top is elevated about half and inch or so to give a nice little angle on the device. Also it can easily be set to sit up with 3 different angles in the landscape mode. Slim and sturdy construction as well with decent padding.

How do you feel about the case after having it for a few days? And how is the fit? Does the Note snap in tightly? I have a $7 poetic trifold, but don't like that the bezel is covered. I really like the looks of this case, but would like to hear a bit more about it.

I actually like it ALOT. when its in trifold mode, especially laying down for typing its very sturdy, it DOESNT wiggle or move at all.
and YES its a good fit for the tablet, as long as you dun hold it by the cover and wiggle it vigorously. As you know there are only 3 corners supporting the tablet, since we need the opening for s pen, but from my experience if you simply push the s pen corner (the corner that isnt cover) it can easily pop up.
lemme know if you have any other questions.
ALSO the magnets DOES NOT affect the screen for me.

Looks interesting.. I think my choice is down to this case or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ultra-S...es_Covers_Keyboard_Folios&hash=item3ccaa0c25f
When the price of the case is $5.74 shipped, you don't have high expectations for it So I figured to give it a shot. With an exception of original Samsung flip case (with battery cover back attachment), I don't have any other flip cases. This one looked different with a brown PU leather texture and a black inner casing holder. I got this case from HERE. Why from this place and not ebay? It's a similar case you can find on ebay, although I haven't seen anywhere light brown color like this, AND this one actually came straight from US warehouse (was shipped from NJ) and got here in a few days. Don't have to wait 3-4 wks for a package from HK.
So, more about the case. The package it came in says "anti-bacterial" and "99.9%". I guess just a bonus. The first surprise is that on Tmart website where it's listed it has white felt lining on the flap cover and inside of the case holder. The one I received had black felt lining, which is another bonus since it will not show dirt. This felt lining is perfect not to scratch the screen and also not to scratch the battery door of the phone once phone is inserted. It actually latches in very securely and will need some force to unlatch it. No worries about falling out of the case. And the plastic itself feels very sturdy. Yes, the flip cover attaches with a magnet but its a very thin magnet on the side of the case and it does NOT interfere with phone/s-pen. I was using s-pen, drawing right along the edge where magnet is and found no issues. I took more close up pictures of it, actually a very clever design.
All port openings are perfectly aligned, and you get access to s-pen (although thumb will not fit there, will need to use index finger for that opening), micro-usb, headphones, and also a cutout for power button. Volume buttons accessible once you flip the case open. Also, speakers, mics, and camera/flash openings all perfect. Furthermore, case opens up and props the phone in a landscape position with adjustable angles since felt lining prevents it from sliding. I would even go as far as saying that it will offer a level of drop protection since inner plastic case holds phone securely and offers corner protection, while flip cover stays attached with a magnet covering the screen if you drop it.
Can't comment on longevity and wear of material, but heck, for $5 plus change it's way more than I expected. Also, I think it comes in different covers as well.
Here comes the pictures:

I have the same case but with a different texture design it was called the matrix dolce, it's a decent case (it's what I'm using now) the kickstand grip is pretty good due to the build material, I just wish the plastic would cover more of the phones surface

I know what you mean, like wrapping around top and bottom more. But overall I think its pretty damn good for $5 shipped, and it actually doesn't add too much bulk. I would even go as far as saying it's kind of classy looking to carry it when you go out to eat to some fancy place. The trade off is that you don't have any card/money slots, but that's also positive since it keeps it slim.
How long have you had this case? Just wondering how well is it holding up together. Also, since I haven't used flip case before, I assume I can be talking on the phone with a flip cover closed (thus proximity sensor covered)?
When the case is flipped open, is the magnet holding it in place, or do you have to hold it back with your hand?

You have to hold it open, which is not a problem since it folds back flat. I think it's actually to an advantage because if they would have a bigger/stronger magnet to hold the flap on both sides - that would introduce interference of s-pen with a magnet, etc. And those cases with a buckle or whatever to hold the flap closed make it bulky on the top surface of the flap so when you flip it back it's bulging out.

I've been using it for almost 2 months, it is holding up pretty good, I got mines for about 7 bucks. I do outdoor farming work handling ginger in Hawaii I've dropped the phone a few times and the case holds up pretty well nothing has been tearing or degrade nor has the phone been damaged in any way (surprisingly lol)
I haven't tried talking on the phone with the cover closed I usually have it folding back and the phone on speaker every time I answer/make a call.
I do recommend if it's your daily driver to use the app Proximity Screen Off to preserve your power button and use it like a flip phone of sorts so it works pretty good; though the sensor up top kind of has a hard time detecting the case being closed sometimes so it can auto turn off the screen.
I'm still trying to find another case that provides more coverage on the top and bottom but just enough as this case so if you happen to find one with that criteria please let me know! :good:

Only photo's as well that I see.
How is it? I know I thought about it but doesn't look like it will give any great protection on the unit's sides if it drops.

I actually had the 8.4 version before, and I can say it's very good quality, and does give good protection, apart from the two edges, during my visit to china I did pickup a few cases, two of them being a clear tpu case which has the opening for the two clip buttons, so the tpu case can be used in conjunction with the official case which does give out full protection.
This is a smoke colour one, I also have a clear one, I also picked up a few other cases, the other two being a wallet type case, all being less than USD 5, I only post these as it's being related to the official book cover.
Too bad the Book Cover is missing a cutout for the earpiece... could come in handy when using the LTE version as a phone.

I'm not sure if they have one for the LTE version, my two wallet case works well when making calls, and I can hear clearly the person at the other end, even without the cutout.
I've got the SM-T715 and the book cover I got with it doesn't have a cutout (I haven't seen any pictures of a book cover case with cutouts so I don't think it exists).
I like the TPU case with the clip button cutouts you showed... I'll try and get one myself, maybe from ebay if I can find it. Hopefully it can also prevent the accidental button presses I've been having when carrying the S2 8.0 with a book cover in my pocket.
My overall impression of the 8.0 Book Cover
+ Stylish
+ Compact
+ Automatically turns on the display when you open it
+ Many viewing angle positions
- Volume and power buttons are too easy to press when the cover is closed, I've had reboots due to the power button being pressed for too long inside my pocket.
- No cutout for the earpiece.
- No protection of the corners/edges if you drop it while opened.
Brgds...

These TPU case being cheap @ approximate 1.50USD, is reasonable, but they don't have a perfect fit, as the back of the tablet is curved, making the case stick out a little, but shouldn't really bother you that much, here are some more photo's with the tablet in.
Thanks for the pics... have you tried it together with the book cover?
I hope the case will fit inside the book cover (which is pretty snug as it is).

The LTE version does exist. Here in Australia anyway. Picked one up the other day for my T710 not even realizing it was an LTE version until I read this thread, lol.

Cool... first time I see it. Not sure if I want to purchase a second one just for the cutout though.
I purchased a Griffin Technology Slim for my Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 since I use it outdoors.
Pictures to follow.
It is a rugged case with openings for head phones, USB, etc. It has a stand in the back that allows you to prop it up in Landscape. It has a protective screen that does not inhibit the touch screen so you can easily use fingertip or stylus while protecting the screen from scratches.
More to follow.
I think Samsung book cover looks nice
Nice
Nice... but the design could be much better

Er... What are you talking about? Samsung Book Cover does not even cover the phone connector, which is located at the bottom of the device. No need for a cutout.
I think you are misunderstanding the post, there is a cut out on the book cover for the ear piece for the lte version, the ops has the WiFi version.
I appologize for double posting. If necessary please delete my post regarding Book Cover Tab S2 9.7.
I own one of the original book covers for the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and I would highly recommend it for the following reasons:
1) The tablet is protected and still easy to use at the same time, which in my opinion doesn't apply for sleeves and similar solutions.
2) It enables me to put the tablet in a stable landscape orientation, which makes it quite comfortable to write using the internal keyboard.
However, I admit that attaching it was a bit tricky and that so far I did not try to remove it.
