I need your help Guys. After a factory reset when i go in settings, Edge Screen, Edge Screen closes and i get a message "Unfortunately, Cocktailbar service has stopped". Using Iron Man Theme from Theme Store, Edge Screen opens well when i switch to the default Theme. Edge Screen is now only working with default Theme, it closes on all 3rd party Themes.
Not all third party themes cause the "Cocktail Service has stopped" error. So far l've found Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Music, Stud _ Silver, Space Odyessy, and Vacation cause the error. I've marked these themes as having a bug in the feedback for the theme store. I also emailed Samsung theme store support with screen shots of the error. Finally, I called Samsung Advanced Technical Support and they are investigating these themes coding to hopefully find the error. I'll post any updates I receive from Samsung.

Same issue as you... worked fine until I did a reset, now no longer works with most Themes.
Wonder what resetting 'breaks'?
It looks like the 5.1.1 update has fixed it... did for me anyway. :good:
Same here. All themes seem to be working
I ran across this thread when searching for this error message. Is this an error that can be fixed with an update (currently, I'm running Android 5.0.2 and don't have any updates available) or is this an error that just won't allow the edge to work unless using the default theme?

So, finally found a solution for it and it was easy. No need to clear the cache and data of theme store. Here the "Theme" is not responding. Just Go to the All Apps and scroll down, until you find "Theme". Then click on it and clear the cache and data of it and force stop it. No need to reboot your device. Just go applying theme and delete the last applied theme. You're now good to go

Been lurking for awhile so thanks for all of the great info to date.
I'm having problems with live wallpapers constantly crashing and having my background (home and lock) reset to the default feather image. I tried a search and could not find a related thread.
This is consistently happening with downloaded wallpapers Flurry Pro Live Wallpaper and Plasma Tree. Wallpaper crashes when in various applications and becomes apparent once returning to the home or lock screens. I suspected that my Handcent pop-up notifications were causing it and found a thread elsewhere that said to disable the "blur background" effect but this has not stopped the problem. Verrrry frustrating, any help?
Just me?
I haven't had any problems with stock as well as having a 3rd party one (galaxy amoled). Do you have the ripple effect enabled?
GNoteII
I've got the very same problem with my unrooted stock GN2.
It seems that LWP downloaded & installed directly from Play Store works,
while the ones I download to my '"SD card" from "other sources", & installed
from within my phone, doesn't. Sometimes they just won't start at all, sometimes
I can configure the LWP but it then revert back to the stock "feathers" background.
This is quite annoying, and I cannot seem to find any solution. So now we are two...

Ripple effect is disabled.
The live wallpapers crash whether I have it set as a wallpaper or lock screen / wallpaper.
It's bad enough that I have to reset the live wallpaper at least once a day and now no longer bother.
Anyone else using this with handcent popup notifications?

Ding ding ding that's it but mine happen despite where the wallpapers came from (all downloaded directly onto phone).
Wanted to bump it up and see if anyone has been able to solve this.
Quick question, I have seen a couple of places how to remove the white frames from around the icons.
Should be Settings > Display > Icon frames.
However in my new T-Mobile Note 7, that option is greyed out. I can't click on it to change the settings.
Has anyone else seen this? I would love some assistance.
Thanks in advance!

I think this option only works if you don't have a custom theme applied. If you switch back to the default theme, the option should be available again.
I've noticed the same thing using default thene.

Maybe just download a frameless icon pack you like.
Having this problem too. Wonder if it's got to do with the system update that got applied on the first day?
Same possibly here. I'm on T-Mobile with default theme. I would like to remove the frame.
I have only been able to change this setting whike in easy mode (which i don't like). It is greyed out for me in standard mode as well.
Ok, I figured it out. I'm using Nova Launcher and Sammy doesn't like that. I changed to touch wiz for my launcher and suddenly Icon frames are available to change.
I changed back to Nova again afterwards, and the change stuck, so it seems to be a reasonable workaround.
Let me know if this works for you.
I don't have a custom launcher but I do have a theme. I deactivated the theme and it worked. I guess the theme locked the borders on. Sucks.
Yeah so I don't think it's launcher specific but rather theme based. Once you apply a theme it seems to lock in whatever the icon choice was. So I went back to default theme (which opened up the option again), changed to icon only, and then applied my theme again. Now it's locked again, but as icon only.
I have no theme and stock launcher and it is still greyed out. Switched to easy mode, made the change and went back and all is well now.

Has anyone had any luck removing the frames and using the Google Now Launcher? I can turn it off in TouchWiz and Easy Mode, but as soon as I switch back to Google Now Launcher they come back and the option to turn them off becomes I unavailable.
I might not mind these damned circles if it was consistent, but it only affects about half the app icons and the other half are normal. It's crazy to look at...
Yeah it seems like the only way to get them to stay TRULY off is to use touchwiz, using the standard them.
I know everyone is saying you can switch to off, then go back to what you were on - and it is "locked in off". I agree that it looks this way in the settings.
However the icons clearly have the frames around them still.
I have stuck with touchwiz for how smooth it is, but I think I am going to give up on it.
Also, the only reason why I say its smooth is because my initial setup was with "good lock" (needed to download an apk for that as it doesn't show up in store) and google now launcher and stuff - but there was a decent amount of choppiness and also the battery was not performing to my expectations. So I did a factory reset (which some people say fixes stuff like this) and sure enough, things got better. Battery better, smoothness better. However I have stuck with normal touchwiz since then... been afraid to change it since everything seems better now lol.
I hear you.
I had to try several different icon themes but i found one (that i like) that doesn't leave borders on the rest of the icons. I think it's some sort of default setting that goes unchanged when custom themes are created.
Trial and error. Good thing the Samsung theme store has a preview option. It reduces a lot of hassle.

Same here. I ended up going back to TouchWiz mostly because I couldn't stand the weird frames on some of the icons. It's not as good as the Google Now launcher, but it's good enough.
I've been searching for this answer for weeks, finally I found it, nearly started to think my device was faulty.
My option is unavailable and I have stock Rom and launcher.
But this option was available but not anymore. Can't understand why???
For some time now when I open Google it freezes then a pop-up says "Google is not responding, close app, wait, send feedback". Sometimes if I select wait it runs but usually it happens again.
I cleared the cache and now I get a different message "Launcher 3 is not responding, close or wait"
Does anyone know of any solution please
clear the data of the following apps
google
google play services
your launcher (what ever the name of it maybe)
then restart your phone
Thank you. Launcher 3 isn't listed in the apps. It's down as the Home app under configure apps. I'm on Android 7

Make sure you have pressed the 3 dots on the top right corner & select show system - so you can also see system apps in the list
You can always just install and use a different launcher - I recommend evie launcher (playstore)
Thank you, I didn't know you could do that. I cleared the cache on Launcher 3 (which is my stock launcher) but it didn't make any difference. So I installed Evie. I now have to open Google from a shortcut and it still doesn't respond, but if I select Wait it does respond eventually.
When I refer to Google, I think I mean Google Now which opens stories connected to things I've looked at.

Clearing data is different from clearing cache - its within the same menu options though in app settings
Sorry, I misread your post. I'll try it again.
I wish I'd read your post properly the first time. I've done it now and it seems to be working properly now. Thank you.
That's the problem I kept having.. Click on:
Settings, Apps, Show System, Launcher 3, Force Stop, Storage, Clear Data.
*It will delete your home screen icons, so you'll have to re-add them onto your home screen again.

Hi folks,
I've just got one of these excellent phones and the first thing I did was upgrade to Pie.
All great so far, but the Dark Theme under the advanced Display settings doesn't seem to do anything.
Anyone else got this problem? Really don't like all the white backgrounds.
Thanks for any info.
Have you tried to set a dark wallpaper first and then choose the dark theme?
Can confirm it's not working the normal "Pie" way. You still have to use the "Oreo" way initially like slimshady76 said you need to trigger it by adding a dark home screen wallpaper and set the themes setting to auto. Once it's triggered you can change the theme settings to dark and switch back to your old wallpaper, dark theme will stay now. If you wonder how it should look like, check this out
Just to make this clear, it clearly should work without the trick in Pie as it does on Pixel phones. Probably a bug that comes from updating from Orea to Pie if I had to make a guess.

Not because of upgrading, because I flashed full ROM with MiFlash and the issues persist. The bug level of this device's "official stable" Rom is just wow.
What I meant was that the device was made with Oreo, thus every Pie version for the A2 lite is just an update. It would probably be working if it would be developed on Pie right away.
All I can say is that I didn't notice many bugs after updating directly from stock Oreo to the latest stable Pie. However earlier Pie versions seem to have been more unstable.
Thanks for the replies.
It does seem to work using the workaround for static wallpaper, but if you choose a live wallpaper it reverts but to white. Is this likely to get fixed in a future update?
Is there any way to get the 'settings' background dark?
Thanks again.

Not Yet, real dark mode (with everything being dark) will come with the next android update though.
check out the app swift installer. it can change your whole system and most apps to darkmode. working pretty good for me.
alternatively you can wait for Android 10 release to get system wide dark mode
Thanks for the Swift Installer suggestion, but was hoping to avoid rooting at this stage.
Guess I'll have to wait for Android 10.
It seems even the Pixel phones don't have a dark 'settings' background yet either.
I've found solution by accident. If you use Lawnchair launcher, you can set device theme in launcher settings, and it has more options (like dark, black, etc) while it still remains system wide. And best of all, you can use live wallpapers as well without it reverting to light theme.
hi;
i have something strange with my darkmode on mi A2 Lite (10.0.13.0, magisk/edXposed)
drawer, quick settings from notification bar, sound mode change, google app, dialer, chrome, agenda, all have dark mode

anyone here have the same problem? or even a solution?

Well, easiest would be to try and download
Samsung "High Contrast" theme
or Samsung "High Contrast Sky Black"
both free themes, from Galaxy Theme Store.
Please note,
I have notice that some device users "?"
could not find these 2 x themes in Theme store?
You could try search bar to search, within
Theme Store.
I personally haven't had this issue.
See screenshots.
Good luck.
thank you very much will try that can i control the accent color

Well,
I would suggest to download the Samsung module. "Theme Park "
You can create your own themes... free of charge.
To your liking and satisfaction..
It won't cost you nothing..!
No root required etc.
Anyway, It's quite easy.. straightforward app.
If you can't download Theme Park (Good lock module ) from
Samsung Store just go to either Sammobile
or apkmirror website. Type in search bar "Samsung Theme Park."
Download apk
Sideload and install apk.
If app does not appear in app drawer,
then you'll have to eg..
example if you got Nova launcher, then create a shortcut..........
Long press screen.. chose widgets /Nova activities, you'll find Theme Park listed.
Tap Theme Park lightly, this will open drop down list of Theme Park... then (usually) choose second option of Theme Park.
Place on desktop and open Theme Park app
No root required.
You can create your own custom Themes, with your own color schemes.
It might be a bit confusing in beginning.
but it's fun and easy to theme you whole phone.
Good luck
See screenshots for an idea!
I made my own theme with Theme park as well. Ended up making a dark theme in light mode to force a few apps to a light screen as it reads easier, like the Google app which I use as news and tech feed. Downside is that the side panel is kinda light and some other bits too. But really great work from Samsung. Does take a bit before you get the hang of it as none of the settings are documented. Try and error, than you go!
i'm trying to download theme park for some reason not available in my region will try with vpn
just a stupid question using theme park and themes doesn't slow down the device , right ?
theme park works great
the app drawer can't be black fully
i think i will switch away from app drawer because of that

No need for VPN .
Just go to to APKMIRROR website .(.its a trusted website ,so you can safely download apk ) link ........
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-theme-park/samsung-theme-park-1-0-08-5-release/
download apk and install .
If for some reason Theme park force closes etc ,
download Good lock apk from APKMIRROR ........
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/good-lock-2018/good-lock-2018-2-0-00-3-release/samsung-good-lock-2-0-00-3-android-apk-download/
Please Note
In this case i just installed Good lock apk and leave it installed .
Dont even bother to try and open it ..it will most likely f,orce close ...don't worry about this .( .even though you cannot
open /launch Goodlock) the other
modules depended on Good lock will then work
Your other question ,if it slows down device ..no
i have not experienced ,any slow downs .
If you want your app drawer black ,surely if you use a decent launcher eg Nova Launcher
just change app drawer to pure black ...???
see my screenshots example of app drawer and Nova launcher settings
good luck
thank you very much

In short ...no .!!
Been using Nova Launcher for many ,many ....many years .from the Samsung Note 2 ( days )
(i have Nova Prime )
There's even a Nova setting to adjust your scroll speed .
See screenshot .
Also if speed is important to you ?
Enable Developers mode on Device .
Device /settings /About phone /Build Number /tap on Build Number 7 times to enable Developers mode .do not tap other settings .
You will see a Toast message flash ..Developers mode enabled
Go out (back) to Setting and at bottom of settings list , you will see
Developers mode .
Just be careful
and in Developers mode scroll halfway down you will see the following ....adjust
and set your ......
Windows animation scale
Transition animation scale
Animator duration scale ...all to .5 x speed
You will see all of them is on default of 1 x
Just be careful when you are in Developers mode 5 x, (not to tap or enable wrong settings )
Bottom line remember....
You have a fast and powerful phone ..out of the box !!!
Its not all about speed ..slowdown ..ETC...
.but a combination of
Device "snappiness (speed) ,smoothness and functionality and enjoyment of your device !!!!
Good luck ..see screenshots
thanks a lot
