I compiled the stock 15.1.c.2.9 (android 4.1.2) but flashing kernel seems to have bricked my phone. Phone does not boot. No fastboot, no cwm, does not even recognize Androxyde Flashtool. Any guesses?
Btw, I followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477845 to repack the kernel. Got boot.img from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494793

Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is some way to revert back to stock kernel after I install another one such as Doomlord's.
Since our Xperia phones will receive ICS at some point, I was wondering if I could have problems if I have an unofficial kernel on my phone (most probably yes), so I want to know if there is some way to revert back to stock kernel without much hassle if the need arises.
I think the kernel is flashed with the rom updates, since I can exclude it in Flashtool, but I want to be sure.
Thanks in advance and sorry for this stupid question.
Yes, there is. Instructions are stated in doomlord's thread (custom kernel for stock rom)
Basically, you flash the stock modules in cwm first. Followed by flashing the stock kernel (kernel.sin) via fastboot or flashtool.

[ how to get back to stock kernel OR older versions of my kernel (v13 and lower) ]
download the stock modules update.zip
extract the kernel.sin (or boot.img if u want to flash my older kernels) file from the stock FTF u used to flash this fimware
save the kernel.sin (or boot.img if u want to flash my older kernels) in the folder with fastboot binaries (fastboot.exe files)
save the modules update.zip to sdcard (on phone)
reboot phone and enter recovery
flash the stock modules update.zip
power down device
start device in fastboot mode
use the following command to flash the kernel.sin (or boot.img if u want to flash my older kernels)
Code:
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
reboot phone and thats it u should now be on stock kernel (or my older kernel)

Have you tried flashing other versions of ftf?
First try to flash stock kernel and then rom separately if it doesn't work then simply dont flash any stock file until you get its solution and till then flash doomkernel v14 or whatevet kernel siuts you since you have unlocked bl and then go to cwm to flash gb rom. Don't panic your phone is soft bricked and recoverable easily FYI there is soln for hard brick too.X(

Did you get all the drivers installed first before trying to flash anything? Are you using fastboot to install kernel?

Hi guys any 1 can help me i want o install 1custom ROm but i flash and all and they dont boot i dont now why :S
and other questions where cna i fidn ftf files? for stock ROMS?
xd
BUMP
It doesn't boot because you need to flash a kernel compatible with that rom. The kernel file is the boot.img file inside the rom zip file, however, they do not always work. To flash a kernel you need to unlock the phone bootloader and use fastboot.
Here are the stock firmwares: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399

Yea thanks for link of Stock Firmware , and i know that i need unlocked bootloader for flash kernel but the rom i try to install its for locked phones and i try to install 3 diferent stock roms and then restore the custom rom but still not booting :S
i do wipe and clear dalvik cache i dont know why dont boot
If you flash a stock rom like NXT rom, you just need to flash the stock kernel. You can do this in flashtool, when you drag over the ftf file, check to exclude everything except the kernel for flashing. But then you're probably using stock rom in the first place. Make sure you don't flash a CDMA rom to a GSM phone and vice versa.
I had that problem once. The solution was to flash another boot image because the one that I was using was for ICS ROMS and my backup was GB. The boot and the kernel must be compatible with your ROM.
A few months ago I flashed xzxperience 2 rom and RaymanFX kernel, this was before official Jellybean rom from Sony was released. My bootloader is unlocked and I want to install official the Jellybean update now. I tried DooMlords rom but it wont flash.
What do i need to do? I dont think I backed up stock kernel as I cannot find it, only stock ICS rom I backed up using clockwork recovery (does that back the kernel up I wonder?)
Can I just use Sony PC companion or OTA update?
Thanks.
No, you can't use PC companion or SEUS when you have an unlocked bootloader.
Have a look in the FAQ of the XPERIA S Development forum and see if there's a ICS ftf
There should be some ICS .45 and .55 ftf files around somewhere.
I believe you can now root .55 so it should speed up your progress to an install of the pre-rooted JB ROM.
That said, DooMLoRD provided a few fastboot 'elf' kernels that you can use to get CWM recovery mode access and then flash the JB pre-rooted ROM.
Best to have all the zip files you need on your phones /sdcard before you start any process though.
If you can't flash the pre-rooted official 6.2.B.0.200 ROM, you can install a leaked version of JB, then install DoomKernel, and you should be able to install the pre-rooted official 6.2.B.0.200 ROM and then DooMKernel again. that's the long way of doing it.
I believe if you're getting a status 7 assert failed, DooMLoRD has a fix for that too, with an ICS kernel/CWM recover of some sort.
I believe there are pointers in DooMLoRDs pre-rooted JB ROM install procedure.
As an aside, I had RaymanFX GPU/CPU over-clocked kernel installed too and found it really good.
You can use EMMA tool from Sony for unlocked bootloaders to go back to stock rom or flash a .200 ftf file with flashtool.
Other option is to flash Doomloards prerooted ROM with CWM or in case you don't have CWM (or CWM on ICS kernel and errors during flashing), first flash Doomlords advanced stock kernel which includes CWM via fastboot / flashtool and than his ROM with CWM.
thanks for the replies guys, I managed to get the doom stock jb rom working in the end, followed the tips in the thread and had to flash Advance Stock Kernel with Recovery v01 (FW 6.2.B.0.200) (CWM 6.0.2.7) before I could install the rom
I will remember in future then if I want stock rom to relock the bootloader.
Hi,
I'm a newbie to this forum. How do I flash recovery using flash flashtool?
Thanks
You need to unlock the bootloader first, then flash a custom ftf in flashtool , flash kernel with fastboot(included in flashtool) - the kernel has the recovery built in. Then flash a custom rom or keep the stock one. A good place to start is this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836530. For the first time I would say to try Lupus GB v12 .
