GT-I8160 Not recognizing SIM card? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
firstly, sorry for possible bad threat, but I'd like to ask you for a help, because I wasn't able to find a possible solution.
I've recently obtained Galaxy Ace 2 from relative (if someone wants codename, GT-I8160). This phone had CM11 inside, but I reverted back to stock Jelly Bean to install updated CM11, installed it. This didn't solved the issue, so I reverted back to JB.
The phone itself is working good, but problem is about SIM card. Even the SIM is inserted (I have three SIM cards, tried them all), phone says SIM is not inserted.
Of course, phone has its own IMEI, as I found on phone's tag. Both IMEI from system (used *#06* or so) and from the tag are the same.
Phone has also its baseband. As it was bought in UK, I flashed BTU firmware to make match. If anyone is interested in my baseband, its I8160XXNA1.
Interestingly, phone IS connected to the network and even I can see in Status submenu "UTMS" as Mobile network type.
In points, what I did:
Got phone from friend, turned it on. CM11 flashed.
Reverted back to Jelly Bean.
Flashed CM11 as stated in dev thread, following instructions.
SIM not working, reverting back to JB.
Tried flashing Gingerbread, bootloop, reverted back to JB.
Flashed CM11 from different source, possibly updated CM11 build.
Reverted back to JB.
---------------- ON JB ------------------
Followed procedures to reset SIM, not working, some items missing.
Facts:
IMEI in phone (on stock) corresponds to tag on back side under battery.
Baseband is present.
Can dial *#193728...# to get service menu. Not possible on CM11.
--------
SIM card IS in slot (tested on another 2 SIM cards, used micro-SIM.
---------
Entered the phone, disassembled it, all checked.
Countries / Where are from the sim cards:
1st SIM: T-Mobile CZ (micro-SIM capability)
2nd SIM: O2-CZ
3rd SIM: Vodafone UK
As I mentioned before, I've searched on Google and found some possibilities, but I believe the issue could be somewhere else. If anyone wants something, let me know. Also, I've searched results, nothing related to this found.

Thanks, but this suggestion didn't worked. Flashed twice, SIM card still being reported as non-inserted.

[Q] Can't read SIM-cards | Galaxy Nexus

Hi, I'v just got a Galaxy nexus and after a week with it sittin withiut a sim in the shelf (rewieving Xpera S) I put the SIM-card back in today. But it can't seem to read the simcard, I'v tried resetting, cleaning the simcard and have taken it out and tried again some times now.
The phone is running stock, and is not rooted, and it's a Unlocked GSM device.
Anyone who knows what I should do? Is there anything I could do?

Since you've tried a lot of methods of working with the current SIM, the only other idea which comes to mind would be to perform a factory reset on the galaxy nexus. Perhaps a setting became corrupt along the way. Wiping /data and /cache would be very similar to a factory reset and shouldn't take too long to test if that resolves the issue.
Otherwise, perhaps trying another SIM card in the device before resetting might help confirm if there is an issue with that specific SIM card and the Galaxy Nexus, or if there is an issue with all SIM cards.
Hope that helps add a few more ideas to test!
Galaxy Nexus can't read SIM card
I'm facing a similiar problem but I can't find a solution. Anyone may help me, please?
I bought my GN in France (GSM version) and it was unlocked to SFR, Orange and Bouygues but my carrier is Free Mobile. Trying unlock to the carrier I tried to unlock, root and download a ROM using Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit 1.3 and I probably did some mistake... Every time that I start my mobile it is asked the PIN code (not the carrier code!) but when I type the correct code it always shows the message "incorrect pin code". I've put this SIM card in another Mobile and it works, so the SIM card is not blocked...
I downloaded an oficial version from google and I used Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit 1.3 to download boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and userdata.img in order to try to "restore" the original version. The download apparently was ok, but the problem continues...
The process using the option "flash stock + Unroot" and after "OEM Lock" (in GN Root Toolkit 1.3) works but the message "incorrect pin code" continues.
Any clue to solve this? Thanks a lot for helping!

Hi, did you manage to find a solution for this problem as I have been unable to resolve a similar issue. My sim error appeared randomly on the latest unrooted stock btu build. I have even replaced the sim reader. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
greetings
i had the same issue, quite frustrating.
I bought my Note2 with broken Display, after i repaired it cut my sim to a mico sim, tried it out and got "No Network". So i replaced my 2 Years old Sim with a new micro-sim and with no luck.
After some error diagnostics i found out that the IMEI was broken, well f**. One month later is repaired the IMEI at some Mobile Service-center and the guy demonstrated that the phone now works. Well ok, i was. At Home i inserted my Sim and it didn't worked. I tried my brother Sim cards (2 old Drei Crads) and they worked, now i was like WTF.
Tested Sim-Cards (all Sim mentioned below are from Austrian Carriers)
T-Moblie (2Years old) => ok
A1 (2Yeas old) => ok
3x 3AT (old Sim Design before 2014) => ok
neu 3AT Sim Card since 2014 => NG
I already replaced the sim but with no luck since my carrier gave me the same new Sim Design.
Today i found the issue, the IC or contacts of the new sim are a little bit dipper molded in the plastic. I put a small piece of paper on top of the sim, so the sim is forced down on the simslot contacts, so far i had no issues. I will report this to my carrier and see what thy gonna say.
Hope dat helps, cheers.

Note 2 GT-N7100 - No service
I will borrow this thread as I have the same issue.
Hello, friends.
I have a interesting problem and would like to ask you experts for help. I know this is a thread for GS3, but the problem is similar for my Note 2.
BACKGROUND:
I have Galaxy Note 2 N7100 which was working fine for a year and then suddenly died of SDS. I returned it to official service for repair where they said they replaced the chip (i am guessing they replaced the whole motherboard). When I got it back everything was working fine except when I inserted my SIM card phone had no service.
I went back to repair service and after few days they said they don't know what is the problem and how to solve it and I can get another N7100 in around two weeks. At that time I was developing Android App, so I managed to get the broken Note 2 back for developing. Eventually I got a new, working N7105 and they also let me keep the old, broken one.
I would like to get the broken Note 2 working again, as I believe it could be fixed, or at least I could try.
PROBLEM:
After motherboard replacement (because SDS), phone has No service. Phone appears (*#06#) to have a valid IMEI number (3536270500*****) BUT it is a bit different than on the sticker under battery (last 6 numbers are different, * chars). Serial number is also different.
I am guessing it changed with motherboard replacement? Could this be the problem?
Sometimes it shows that the phone has signal and has connected the right service provider, but it is just for a short while. When there is no SIM card, phone has No SIM icon, but shows signal bar, which appears to be working for Emergency calls only.
Phone was never rooted or flashed before SDS happened, so I don't have original EFS backup before motherboard replacement. First thing I did now, was Root, EFS backup and ROM(4.1.2) backup.
PHONE INFO:
Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2, GT-N7100
Device Type: t03g
Product name: t03gxx
Phone is unlocked and unbranded (at least it was before SDS).
Currently it has [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEMK9 DeOdexed & Zipaligned installed.
PDA version: N7100XXUEMK9
Baseband version: N7100XXUEMJ9
Bootloader version: N7100XXDME6
CSC version: N/A, but under CSC info it says Sales code: XTC - which I believe is Philippines. I am from Slovenia, Europe.
IMEI: 3536270500xxxxx (www.imei.info says it is valid)
IMEI on the sticker: 3536270501xxxxx has last 6 digits different
S/N: R31C80xxxxx
S/N on sticker: R31C90xxxxx
WHAT I ALREADY DID:
Phone had Stock 4.1.2 ROM installed.
I rooted the phone, did EFS Backup, entire ROM backup with cwm ROM Manager.
Excluded SIM card issue. My SIM card is working in other phones. I also tried other SIM cards in my N7100 and they all have no service.
Tried flashing different modems on 4.1.2 Stock ROM.
Tried Ariza Patch.
I flashed it to [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEML6 PreRooted, DeOdexed, Zipaligned & KNOX Free
I flashed it to [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEMK9 DeOdexed & Zipaligned - Current ROM. Because UEMK9 is installed on my working N7105
Tried flashing different modems on 4.3 ROM.
Tried deleting EFS folder to rebuild itself with generic IMEI (0049..). In that case it shows as connected to network every 10 seconds for about 5 seconds and then disconnects. Then copying old nv_data.bin to new EFS. It didn't work so I restored EFS.
I tried other stuff and did a lot of search but I am also quite new to all this rooting and flashing stuff. So if you guys have any suggestions that I could try (even if I already did it) please, do suggest and I will try. If you need any additional info, please ask and I will gladly post it.
I attached some pictures with SIM card inserted and without SIM card.

[SOLVED][Q] IMEI and Baseband unknown. I don't have a backup.

[SOLVED] I put my phone in airplane mode and my IMEI/Baseband came back, cheking the service menu I went to *#2263# and saw that "LTE Preference" was enabled. I clicked on Automatic and problem fixed. Probably a ROM bug? Who knows.
Hello there. I've been a reader of the XDA forums for some time but I never had any reason to create an account to post on the forums.
A few weeks ago I got a SGH-M919 as a gift, the phone only had a few months of use and I took it with me, everything worked fine except for the fact that I couldn't get 3G/4G (Not even EDGE), I was only able to connect to the GPRS network and I couldn't change the carrier (It always gave errors like "Unable to connect. Try later" and such). Although the phone is (apparently) quadband (I don't live in the US), it just didn't work but I lived with it.
Yesterday my phone was low on battery and I turned it off, a few hours later I turned it back on and it couldn't connect to the network, I went to the network options and once I pressed the screen to enter the Mobile Network options, I got an alert saying that I must have a SIM to access those option. At first I thought that the SIM got damaged somehow (This isn't the case since it works perfectly fine in another phone) but after a few minutes looking around, I checked the IMEI and instead of the usual number, I got a null/null message. My first reaction was to google what exactly happened and the answer I received was that the Baseband (Which is also Unknown) and IMEI are stored in a folder called EFS and that it got corrupted. Sweet. I looked for solutions but the main two I got (EFS Pro and ADB nvrestore) require a backup of the EFS (Which I don't have).
The other solution I got was to restore to the stock ROM (M919UVUFNH7) which I'm currently downloading from SamMobile (Sorry if this is considered spam). The phone is not rooted and has the stock ROM, it came with a CWM folder inside the internal memory with an .img file but it doesn't have CWM intalled. I've never upgraded it (Not sure if it came with that firmware from the store if it matters).
I live pretty much in what can be considered a "3rd world country". So I cannot send it to Samsung nor I have access to dollars.
Another question is, the phone was gifted to me already unlocked, I don't know if it came unlocked from the original carrier or if it was unlocked via a code or whatever. If I restore to the stock will it lock my phone to T-Mobile again? Would I be able to use it without a SIM card if it gets locked? It's impossible for me to get a T-Mobile SIM on my hands should I ever need one. In the worst case scenario that my phone gets locked, can I get it unlocked by flashing a custom ROM?
I have so many newbie questions that are already answered in other threads, but since it's a lot of information I want to get it as specific as possible to avoid breaking my phone.
If someone can help me with this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
i having same issue in M919
Do you guys get a message in notification bar about sim car removed or something about a sim card? Also, it doesn't matter if the sim card works in another phone. This device has a little issue with being picky with sim cards. If it's a cut sim card, get an original micro sim card

Hi, thanks for answering. I don't get a message about a removed SIM card. I'm also using an original micro SIM.
I already downloaded the Stock ROM but I haven't flashed it yet.

This is a known bug of the s4. It is a hardware problem and I have yet to find a solution. If you google it you will find many threads on different forums addressing this issue. Again, no known solution
Any answer/idea about my issue? . Sometimes I can access Mobile Network Options, sometimes I can't. I can't configure the APNs (They delete themselves after I click on save). Phone Serial Number didn't get deleted (Which is stored inside the EFS folder as far as I know). I also can't select a Network Mode. I click on GSM/WCDMA/LTE but it changes automatically to nothing.

That's what I said? One solution is to change sim cards if using a cut sim card to use an original micro sim. It's worked for a friend if someone I know and also for others on XDA. It's not the solution, but works for some

I would get a new sim anyway if I could. Flashing stock firmware wouldn't hurt as well

Before trying to flash it, is there any risk of getting simlocked again? I wouldn't want to get my IMEI fixed just to realize that my phone is locked to TMB again
UPDATE 1: My IMEI and Baseband randomly got back (My IMEISV was still missing) but after I restarted, they got deleted again.
UPDATE 2: Rooted, went to EFS, didn't find nv_data.

No SIM card inserted after unroot and upgrade

As above really. Not really sure if it's a hardware or a software error here. I've read that the sim card readers can be a little fragile but there was no fuss during the removal so I would be surprised if that was the issue. What I'm wondering is if I've missed something when un-rooting my phone.
I was using a custom ROM, all working fine, but I've got a new phone so I decided to unroot my old one to sell on. I flashed my original firmware using the LG Flash Tool. Firmware file is "UK Vodafone 16G D85510A_00.kdz". It all went great as far as I could tell and I started upgrading. The final upgrade was the install of Marshmallow 6.0.
In order to find out if my phone was locked or not I put my Wife's SIM in. Rather than coming up and asking for an unlock code it simply stated that there was no SIM inserted. I thought that was potentially down to the wrong SIM being in but when I tried mine I was met with the same error.
Have I missed something? Did I need to change the baseband or something during the process?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I've had kinda same problem since a couple of weeks ago...eventually SIM card gets read for a short while and get back to that No SIM card inserted state.
It has happened with any ROM as well as OG FW flashed through LG tool.
I haven't tried another SIM on my G3 but my SIM does work on other cell phones.
