Hi,
I already have Xposed with the greenify donation version with the gcm notifications on.. But for some odd reason I can't get email notifications on the Asus Email app for my Exchange Server... Facebook, whatsapp and the like are notifying as usual but not the email app... Any work around this? Or any 3rd party client that you would suggest which I could use instead..

Hey there everyone, just wanted to see if anyone's experienced the same problems as I have.
So I have 2 email accounts with gmail, one personal and one work account. I've enabled both of these accounts in both the mail app and the gmail app, and set notifications to be true for both accounts in each app.
Whenever a new email is sent however, it doesn't seem like the default mail app sends any notifications. Another thing is that even when I go into the app and force a sync, the icon on Home will only show the unread count for only 1 of the accounts.
I am still rather confused as to whether 'Sync Automatically' has to be turned on along with either WIFI/Mobile Internet to be able to receive notifications? Do you need to have 'Sync Automatically' enabled all the time, or would an active WIFI connection suffice?
Thanks in advance!
*Update*
It seems the Gmail App works fine, but not the Mail app regardless of whether only one or both are running... any ideas?
Bumping this up...
Anyone experience any problems with the default mail notifications?
HI, i am getting my G2 next week. I was wondering if there an app that have push unread hotmail count? I know there is one for gmail, but cant find one for hotmail. I have 2 hotmail account. Thanks inadvance
You can use ADW Notifier.
It has an unread count for K-9 mail which you can configure to work with your Hotmail accounts.
Also, there is an option that allows you to enable notifications for any application but from my experience, it doesn't work well with the native Email app. It shows a question mark in place of the unread count for me.
Hi guys I just bought a m8 from T-Mobile and I haven't been getting notifications at all. The only time I get notifications is from sms and cloudmagic which is a email service. I have autosync on and made sure there's no setting that restricts background data and all that. I just don't get it. Anyone have any ideas? I'm on 4.4.3 stock unrooted.
can you be more specific? apps not notifying you?
In general like gmail and Google plus and instagram and twitter. Basically all of them aren't giving me notifications at all and when I open the apps they have updated already. Its just not notifying me by notifications at all
I tried to send an email, send facebook messengers from my clone and it works on notification bar but nothing show above my app icons. So, I miss almost every mail, fb message...
Anyone know how to enable this ?
The Amazon FireOS mail box works perfect but i'm using mailbox from dropbox
It seems that it's up to the app developer to integrate it.
Facebook messenger hasn't got a counter, but whatsapp and Skype have. Standard email has a counter, but other clients have not. It's a bit of a nightmare, I agree, but something that needs to be done by the developer of the app I'm afraid...
I am coming from Samsung phone(Note 2,3,4,5,7, S6,7) and Iphone(5,6,6s) user.
I have few email accounts yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc., I used to manage all in one email app.
I dont see it in Pixel XL and I see Gmail as default app.
Do anyone have any way to get the default old generic email app on Pixel XL?

The Gmail app is the default app and it can handle multiple email accounts. If you want the original AOSP email app just Google it and you will find it. I personally have been using TypeApp from the Play Store and I love it....but that's me.
The whole issue with these 3rd party email apps is that they are all notoriously battery hogging when they run on data. Since these access emails via IMAP, then tend to keep a live connection open with the server to serve the push notifications. Gmail has a unique setup in that it waits for the server to inform it about new emails. As such it doesn't keep the connection open and has a feature similar to SMS. Thus the battery drain when using Gmail is bearable. The only downside is that it's downright UGLY and feature poor...But then it integrates really well with android and displays info on the Google now screen...I don't know if this will work with a 3rd party app...Haven't tried though...
