Hi. I have a Voda branded TP2.
I have installed the 1% battery indicator and have realised that the battery is dropping at an alarming rate. In two hours without any data activity, just two calls of 5 mins each and the battery has already reached 74%. The number drops in front of my eyes. Quite scary actually.
Anybody else faced a similar porblem?
2 things I can advice you (as a TP2 beginner)
-First times: charge up to 12 hours non-stop even when light is green (has nothing to do with phone but with the chemical proces inyour battery) this will prolong lifetime
-This TP2 WWE ROM has a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of background running stuff compared to other WM 6.1 - ROMS. So you thing it is not using any current but it is!
Maybe you could install advance task manager and check out all running programs and processes ...

Had a strange one last night. Went to be, put the phone on charge (was about 16% iirc), and the orange light came on to say it was charging. Then, this morning at about 3am, I hear the phone making bleeps. Check it out, and it's at 5%, with orange light flashing. Take out charger, put it back in, and it starts charging. I went out afterwards, came back about 4.30, and it says it was about 80% complete. Go sleep, wake up about 7.30am, and it's fully charged (green light). Then, I unplug charger, turn on, and it says 96%, and I notice it dropping the amount of charge in front of me (like OP's notice), until it got to about 91%.
Now, about 5 hours later, it reckons the charge is 74%. So dunno why it went down so quickly, and why it didn't actually charge... But will keep my eye on it and see how it goes...

Another way 2 keep your eye on it: check data connection (start>settings>connections>comm manager) a lot of stuff open this connection which uses power. if it turns on without you knowing .... (especially auto-update plugins (weather?)), sometimes AS also ...

I really don't know what to think of LiPo battery management, so many different theories.
Also, something that annoys me is that I fully charge the TP2 overnight, in the morning the lights green. If I simply unlug charger and plug in back in it well go back orange and stay orange for a good half hour... and I can start again a few times...
To be honest, I had to hard reset my device couple of times and haven't had time to 'fully' recharge it after the resets.
I guess I will give it a few days of full charging and then check on the battery.
But, I am not joking when the 1% battery meter just drops numbers faster than a meter at the gas station.

I had this problem when I have push mail turn on. If you disable push mail and set it to receive like every 15 mins, it save the power a lot.
Try the advance config to auto disconnect every x mins, this will helps as well.

yep your source isn't to bad. Beginning with full charges (6 to 12 hrs instead of 3 like the manual says) isn't about the old charge-memory story (because Lithium-Ion battery don't work this way, only the nickel-cadmium and nimH do) but about fully charging cells.
I mean the best way to look upon this is like a pile of bricks on top of each other (all different cells if you wish). So the first time it is important to give all the bricks enough time to charge - so even when it says 100% it does not mean that it has (you're indicator is a feedback of a reading by your cpu). So not all the bricks (let's say) have the same quality (yesyes even in this day and age of hight teck).
So you can also take this parallel to discharging: if you discharge fully, you risk that one of these bricks get busted and so will NEVER recover.
So i agree on this with your source a LiOn batter is bettery served with frequent partial charging and must NEVER be drained completely

I put the TP2 on for charging the whole night (about 9 hours). In the morning the LED was green and the battery meter said 100%. I took the charger off from the handset and re-inserted the tip in. Guess what? 95%.
AM not sure if it is a battery problem or handset problem?
Its come down to 73% with just one phone call of 5 mins. Mail is on, but its on manual and havent pulled anything since morning.
Any idea?
I got my Tilt 2 yesterday. I charged it to 100% before using it, then had it on all afternoon setting it up and adding programs. I charged it all night, but when I got up this morning the battery said 70%.
I went to the power settings and noticed there's an information tab that has status info since the last full charge. The status under Last full charge on my phone said "not applicable". I plugged it in at work this morning and waited a while to make sure the charging light turned from orange to green. It did and the battery power remaining was 100%. I left it charging another hour.
A little later I checked the information tab again. It still says Last full charge: Not applicable. HUH???
Aside from the Last full charge field, it also has stats for Standby time, Talk time and Device usage since last full charge. Since I apparently still haven't had a "last full charge" all the values are 0 on my phone.
Does anyone else have a date and time in that field on the information tab?

When I first got my Tilt 2, I noticed that screen and thought "hey that's useful". It had the values all filled in properly. But when I went back later to check it, I saw "Not Applicable" just like you. It seems to be intermittent though, because I checked it just now and it has good data. I haven't noticed any correlated factors that predict whether the info will be there or not.

you should never leave your phone plugged into the charger after it has reached full capacity. you're basically draining the overall battery life of the phone, so it won't last as long off of a full charge.
did that to my old tilt before I found out about the overcharging thing, and had to use my warranty to get a new one since the phone would shut off by itself at 90%+ and turn back on again with >5% battery power left

I wasn't really sure that it was fully charged because of that stupid message about the last full charge not applicable. Thanks for the information. I didn't know that it was possible to ruin a battery by overcharging it.

I thought it seemed like it would be a useful feature, too. Every single time I check power settings the values are null. It's interesting to know you've seen data there at least twice.
ETA: Now that I think about it, for the last two years I've plugged in my Tilt before going to bed and left it charging all night. Every morning it was 100% charged and I never noticed any adverse effects.

Maybe I've just been very lucky, but I have had a Sprint HTC Touch and before that a Samsung Blade (razr wannabe), each for two years. Every night for those four years, I plugged in my phone before going to bed and left it there. I have always had great battery life on both phones.
Specifically for the TP2, I have read that it stops charging at some point when it's done, and won't trickle even if you leave it plugged in. This has been reported by various people because they find that if they leave it plugged in for very long times, they'll end up with only about 95% battery, because after the first few hours it was no longer charging.
Perhaps less convincing, but also interesting, is the fact that (when it works) the "last full charge time" on my TP2 shows up as a couple hours after I went to bed, rather than the time when I unplugged it in the morning.

oh wow really? that's interesting. that would be nice if it's really true. what I've been wanting is an app that allows the phone to make some sort of noise (i.e. an alarm sound) when it is fully charged. just to let it's owner know that it's finished and so it won't get overcharged. I think i'll go request it at development n hacking.
I am 100% sure that you cannot overcharge a TP2, in fact I would say any phone or device with a Lithium Polymer battery.

it's true, once the TP2 hits 100% it stops charging the battery & the usage time will kick in.
Day 3 and still no data in the battery power information tab.
do a hard reset. mebbe itll work.

I have a custom rom now, and it works as well
once the green light comes on on the touch pro 2 u it stops charging, u cannot overrcharge it
Not only can you not overcharge the lithium Ion batteries it is actually better for them to be recharged as often as possible.

Overcharging li-ion (and li-po) batteries results in catastrophic failure, a.k.a. explosion. Therefore, chargers for these battery chemistries stop charging when they're full.
Something is wrong with ne WM6.5 driver!
Yesterday my battery duration was about 24h (with 6.1 i charge it every 2-3 days!)!!
I fully charged at midnight and now, after 15h it says 90%... It's a little bit strange!
At midnight i could see battery stats.. Now it says "not applicable".
I used Dr SigStat and it says a temperature of 2,47°C!!! (in WM6.1 temperature was normal).
What's wrong??
Over the weekend I finally got some data on the information tab. Either Saturday or Sunday morning when I checked it gave some time around 5AM as the last full charge time. Now it's back to Not Applicable.

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to the 6.5 battery dilemma. When I was using a cooked 6.5 ROM on my Tilt I was getting normal battery duration. My battery life on the Tilt 2 is comparable to my old Tilt.
i see this on my tilt2. battery info shows up, with idle/usage times for a short while after full charge (green) if i check after a few hours, it goes to n/a. looks like a driver bug to me.
So, I'm on my Evo today, playing a game (Air Strike). My battery is at 93% when I picked the phone up to play, and the phone is plugged in. Suddenly, with no warning what-so-ever, my phone shuts off. Of course a mini-freak out and many "wtf's" ensue. No warning, no signs, even the led went off. I pulled the battery, put it back, then plugged the phone in again. After that it gave me the blinking light indicating the battery was too low to turn on. After a few minutes charging she came back on and battery was at 5%.
How the hell does a battery go from 93% to 0% in less than 5 minutes, and give no warning at all?? Anybody else ever have this problem?
Wow I've have never heard or that happening before. Maybe a glitch in the battery stash? Did it take awhile to charge up to 100%? Can you reproduce the issue again?

I had this problem with my older phone once. The battery itself may have a problem or your phone is not getting charged properly.
Try These :
1) Try charging the phone overnite from the Wall charger (Not through USB of your computer)
2) If the above does not work, and you have access to another evo battery, then try using that.(try using a friends battery and charger for a day. ) (Ofcourse needless to say the charger and battery must be for Evoonly )
In my case, my phone started working fine again after getting my battery & charger replaced.
Probably shouldn't worry about it too much just yet. Could be something as simple as your battery meter was mis-calibrated. The meter itself is software so it can easily be wrong/off. If it continues you may have a bad battery.

Idk... The phone had been plugged in for most of the day (hadn't gone anywhere. Lazy day lol) And like I said, the led went completely out as well.
Haven't had the problem again, so we'll see I guess....

I've seen some posts about the Evo battery shutting off the charge when its being used. Were you using your Evo while it was charging?
If the battery doesn't seem to be giving you percentages that are accurate, you might want to recalibrate your battery.

If you're experiencing higher than normal battery drain, try the following:
1. Charge the phone to full battery; let it keep charging until the battery says it is fully charged. Do not just wait until the light is green, it isn't always fully charged, causing a lot of inaccuracies. (You can check by going to: Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> Battery Level = Full.)
2. Boot to recovery and wipe battery stats.
(To have the most accurate of battery stats, reboot the phone immediately after wiping the battery stats and wait for your ROM to boot completely to the desktop. Once your entire boot is done and you have full access to the phone, go ahead and pull the charger and continue.)
3. Do not charge the phone until after draining the battery completely, resulting in it automatically shutting off. Take out the battery, and keep trying to turn on your phone until it will not turn back on at all.
4. Recharge the phone completely and then use as you normally would.
This is a method that has been proven to work, I am sure there are other ways. My battery lasts longer after doing this and the reading is much more accurate. It might be advisable to do this after every ROM install if you want the most battery life and most accurate battery reading by the phone's software.

So, I bought another battery. Will this sort it?

The problem is that the battery control chip doesn't take into account that the battery ages.
Resetting battery stats or charging while turned off will only clear the stats you see in the settings menu. This guide will make your battery drain to 0% again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534892

I gathered that, but as the phone is going to a new user (my stepson) we got him a new battery anyway
I just wondered what the correct procedure is. I know you need to do a first charge with a new battery, as with a new phone, however, this phone obviously has a working ROM already on it.
So, the phone is charging now, switched off. Should I turn it on, use a little, then use the battery calibration app to delete the stats and then drain to 0%?

Well, that assumption is probably inherited from the NiHM batteries in the past, because it's not needed with Li-Ion batteries. In fact charging to 80% is better than charging to 100% and keeping it plugged in.

Just charge it and use it for a full cycle. If it shuts down at 15%, you can try the battery calibration from the thread I mentioned above. If it doesn't, you're battery capacity is the same as the one the battery chip has calculated, which is good.
So, why does the first charge take so long?
This thing is still charging and it's been on the charger for 3 hours, whereas usually it'd be charged fully by now.
Been like that for every Li-Ion battery I've ever had (including my S3, took around 6 hours to charge, usually takes 3).

Just to clarify, I don't intend on leaving it past the green light. As soon as it says it's full I'll be taking it off charge and not trying ot overcharge it. But I still have the orange charging light after 3-4 hours.
To be honest, I don't know. Maybe it's a safety to prevent overcharging. Coincidentally, I've got exactly the same issue now. I asked about it in the calibration thread. I suppose it's normal, but I'm not sure about that.

my battery took just over 6 hours to charge the other day from completly dead

Hi everyone.
Just to write a solution for the commonly problem on the battery of this tablet; I had the problem that battery ran out almost on 1 or 2 hours! of use after it turned off I turned on again and the gauge showed for example 30% or some cases 40% of battery I was crazy about that and had to do some research; tried to bring the tablet to warranty but they did not could help me (I don't know why) after that I read there were more users having this problem; some of them suggested to bring the tablet to a repair center or open the tablet and do some technical reparation; the solution is pretty simple that it seems to me; my solution was to open the tablet with a spudger (I don't have one so I made one by sanding a piece of plastic) after that just unplugged the battery conector and reconnected it again; rebooted if recovery mode and erased batterystats.bin, turned off and charged until 100%.
At this point I have been using the tablet by 3 days and the gauge seems to show a more precise battery percentage.
Anybody that is having battery problem, and have checked that a app is not causing the battery drain, should try the battery calibration method below, before opening their tab
Try apps like watchdog or an wakelock checker app, also any apps like alarms and weather check apps or any apps that sync the tab can keep the tab from going to sleep.
On my tab s 10.5 i only charge to 70% and never unless i am doing a calibrate drop below 20%, I use my tab for video, ebook and internet.
I use an app like Gsam to sound an alarm at 20% and 70% when charging, and i dont charge to 100% as it can cause cumulative damage to the battery, check the link below for more info on how to care for lithium based battery`s

You can calibrate the battery like this before you decide to buy a new one
Fully charge the battery with the phone on and when the phone is fully charged, unplug the charger and turn it off.
When your phone is off, plug it into the charger and let it charge to 100% again. The green LED light will indicate when this is don
Next unplug the charger, turn on your phone and set the option to ensure that your screen doesn’t turn off, if you have this option. Then reconnect to the charger and wait for it to charge again to 100%.
Once charged to 100%, unplug the charger again and do not charge until the smartphone turns itself off after reaching a 0% battery level. Once off, fully charge it again and it should work properly. The screen setting can put back to normal again (meaning turn off after a certain amount of time).
phones with oled displays should not show static images for a long time as it can cause burn-in

I might have to give this a try. Like my battery has no problems with its connectors or anything since I have never had that problem. Recently, every time I charge my device, when it charges up to 97%, it immediately jumps to 100%. Rebooting still shows 100%. So when I turn off the device and charge it while it's off, it shows its at 98%. So I know it's an calibration problem. This only happens when charging up to 97%. So I might need to recalibrate again.

You should not discharge to 0% too often, as it can causes curative damage and the battery could actually fail, you would not want that to happen if you are out of warranty, I rarely discharge below 20%, a couple of % inaccuracy is not a problem really.

I hardly ever discharge to 0%, I usually charge it when it tells me my battery is low (20-15%). Well, I bought this tablet in July so I have reached probably 300+ charge cycles. I read some threads regarding battery skiping and it happens when either it's uncalibrated, or battery is slowly going bad, and something else I forget. But thanks for the tips on the battery stuff! I never knew charing and discharging fully could do such a thing!

I bought my device from Kuwait so it's firmware belong to united Arab of imarats.
At the beginning , I faced some issues with my device such as. After about 3 weeks I found the the battery stay only for 10 minutes even if it charged to 100%
I had to put my device in charge all the time so I can use it.
I send it to repair center and told them that I need to replace my battery.
After one day they call me and told me that it just asoftware problem and we solve it.
I got it from them use it for just 3 days and found anew problem that the home,back and multitask buttons dosen't work very well . That I need to but it on it's back or use the desktop cover to make it work.
In that point I tried another country firmware with kitkat 4.4.2 and that dosent solve anything
And when I found that the lolipop came to galaxy tab s with France and Canada and sanghfore , I installed it
I found that when I connect the wall charger , the device immediately turn off and give me the sign of battery with out any process in charging and dosent want to turn on.
And when the device work , it give me ablack screen when I shake it between my hand or but it on it's back (such like ablack screen flashing)
I don't know what to do.
