Dialer to large with lower dpi - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i like to keep my screen dpi at a nice 420. Everything works fine except that the sense dialer is to big and covers contact names. Is there a way to fix this? I'm assuming I need to change the dpi of just this app, but I am unaware of any per app dpi mods for this phone.
I'm on leedroid if it matters

What app did you use to change the dpi? I'm on LeeDroid and used Texdroider to change the dpi down to 420 and my dialer is just fine.

Just straight build. Prop edit. Will try with the app
Update: its a bust, still to big. What dpi are you using?

Grab the xposed module "app settings", some of the settings it manages is per-app dpi, resolution, font scaling, the works. I use it to keep sense home, the themes app, and dialer all at stock 480

Yeah, I made a mistake. My Texdroider settings didn't stick at boot for some reason so I was back on the default 480dpi when I looked at my dialer. Set it to 420 and have the same issue that you do.

i forgot about xposed, but would really like to hold off on using it until it hits stable status (or at least auto updates with fixes)

Tablet Mode DPI?

Hey all, at what DPI does tablet mode kick in? For the Note 1 it was 213.
have you tried changing your dpi to find out?
Yup I tried 213 messing around with a few different numbers but i'd like to get it to be not small text, barely enough to kick in navigation bar

If you get it into tablet mode it will crash you system ui and you'll have to flash your backup. Touchwiz isn't made for tablet mode only cm and aokp. But if I'm wrong then post pics of your success and share your method. It should be 177 DPI
Apex has a phone/tablet ui mode if anyone is interested.
Apex settings > Homescreen > UI options

Its more than just the launcher its the whole system ui apk that need to be modified to handle tablet mode. I'm very familiar with this from experience! Unless something changed with touchwiz system ui.

You sir are right that system ui needs to be modified to handle it, i just wanted to be sure.
Good to know what the DPI is too for knowledge, but I tried 177 and system ui did not crash. I tried 160 and system ui does crash.
I am assuming that the value is between 160-177.

Probably 165 its a natural value for tablet mode
Speaking of Apex, anyone know why the phone draws an ugly black border around widgets and such during transitions? The Note 1 didnt do this!
So has anyone found a good way to enable tablet mode? Running Jedi 17 and been searching for an Xposed Module or something that would work...
Setting SystemUI.apk to 160 dpi w/ 800*1280 res in per-app dpi settings just makes it tiny
Found an Xposed module through this awesome xposed index thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541
Direct link to Tablet UI Xposed module http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/Android/Xposed/
BUT! SystemUI force closes on me after trying to set norm 320dpi,160dpi, 160 for SystemUI only, then tried 213, 240 etc...also tried 800*1280 res
Any suggestions?

Want stock but don't want to ditch certain CM/PA features? Read here

I've wanted to change my phone back to touchwiz for a while now but could never do it because I really liked the QuickReply feature of CM10, the per app DPI settings of PA, and being able to natively tether in CM based roms. I've finally found some solutions that will let me keep these features even in a stock JB touchwiz rom. Note that I did not develop any of these -- all I'm doing is compiling these useful features into one place.

Per App DPI Settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106060
Native Tethering / Remove data throttle cap: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057344
For the DPI Settings, the app does not contain something for default DPI, so I just changed that in the build.prop for that. You can do that by navigating to /system/ in a root explorer and opening up build.prop and changing the line "ro.sf.lcd_density=320" to your desired default DPI. You might have to change permissions to edit it, but be sure to change the permissions back to what they were before after you're done.
If you change your default DPI to something other than 320, you should change the per app DPI for Contacts and Clock (and some other apps) back to 320 so that you don't need to look for a modded version that doesn't look weird. I've tried searching for one before, but none of them really worked for me so I decided to leave them at 320 DPI.
I'm using Wicked v6 JB rom as a base which already has the tethering stuff applied, so that simplified things a lot for me. Thanks to all the great devs who have made all this possible!
The only thing I'm really missing now is having phablet style System.UI (I prefer that dropdown bar style better) so if anyone has any idea how to change this, please share!
I hope that this helps some of you who want to make the switch go through with it.
This is exactly whats on my mind at this moment! Thank you for this write up

Change just the lock screen DPI?

I've been running the awesome SkyDragon ROM/kernel with texdroider running the DPI at 560 and it's awesome. Today I got the circle case with wireless charging back and because of the different DPI the clock doesn't line up. I just changed back to stock DPI and the clock is fine but I realized just how much I enjoyed the rest of the phone at 570. I downloaded App Settings to try but I can't find the name of the lockscreen apk. Anyone know or have a better solution? Thanks.

So just in case anyone is wondering or has the same problem, it seems the easiest option is to set SystemUI back to 640 with App Settings. That fixes the lockscreen circle back to the proper position. It affects the status bar and nav bar as well, but it still keeps everything else the same.
As you can see in the screenshot here the status bar icons are proportionally a little too big, but not horrible. I shrank the nav bar back down with G3 Tweaksbox.
RESOLVED
Necroposting for the purpose of this being the first result in Google for G3 Lockscreen DPI.
Figured it out.
Undo any and all previous DPI tweaks.
Use Texdroider DPI, set to 530 reboot.
Install xposed AppSettings, enable it. Reboot.
In AppSettings look for an entry called key com.android.keyguard. Enable it and set DPI to 640 (this is stock). Under that select/check Apply res to widgets.
Save (Maybe Reboot also).
I am going to revive this thread and thread jack.
Does anyone know how to change the DPI for the lockscreen in Lollipop? My post above only works for KitKat, the package no longer exists in LP

I believe since everybody is silent about this issue it is best to set the phone lock to none and revert to a 3rd party lockscreen at least that is what I did.

[Q] G3 Resolution help. devs come help!

Hi, Im using the resolution changer app from google play to make my dpi 540. The problem is I wamt my lockscreen to stay to 640dpi due to quick circle case. Heres what ive done for now. I set my dpi to 540 using resolution changer, then use the xposed module app settings to change the lg.keyguard.apk for lockscreen to 640 dpi. The problem is that the setting doesnt stick. When i reboot res changer takes over. I think the two apps are conflicting. I was thinking of using just the app setting module, but i dont know which app/system to change.
Heres the breakdown.
I want my lockscreen to be 640dpi but the rest of the system to be 540dpi.
I want answers and not opinions like 'its fine the way it is'. Please and thank you!

[Q] About DPI and Quickcircle case.

So, I have changed the dpi to around 600, I really like it there but then there's the obvious problem with the clock size for quickcircle case being small and not aligned. I don't have xposed currently and so I used texdroider to change the dpi. My question is, how can I manually go and change the dpi of the clock widget. I know there's a way to do this if I use xposed. But texdroider doesn't have any app settings, so if anyone has an idea, please help me out. Thanks.
