Sorry if this was covered already, but I couldn't find anything about it.
After updating to 2.2 (OTA), Google Sky Map orientation seems to be acting weird. If I hold it so that I can see the horizon, with the phone in front of me, then spin around in a circle, the program doesn't pick up that movement. It used to work fine in 2.1.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems?
No problem here. Sounds like your compass. Do you have the same prob in street view?

I noticed that if I turn the phone around a bit, tilt up and down while rotating it, then it starts to work. As soon as I kill the app and start it again, I have to do it again. It's as if it's doing some calibration on the g-sensors while the app is running, which is then forgets when the app is killed.
Again, the exact same behaviour happens on street view and sky map.
Same thing is happening with the "Compass" app. At least this one gives me some feedback: "Abnormal magnetic field detected. Please calibrate your device". Doing a "figure-8" calibration solves this in every app, but the problem is that it never stays calibrated. I'm hoping someone else will be able to chime in with a possible fix before I try to do a full factory restore.
If anyone else is having this problem, a factory reset fixed it.
It's a bit of a shame because now I don't know what was really causing the problem.
I'm glad I am not the only one having this problem but I am not going to reset the phone. Has anyone called Sprint about this issue? If I have to reset this thing then I will be resetting to different hardware and a Windows 7 device in a few months.
Going to call Sprint to find out what they can do.

I am afraid that factory reset is gonna be only one possible solution. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747398 I faced similar issue on my Desire. In a nutshell, all apps using embedded compass functionality just acted up (including Google Sky Map) after OTA update to 2.2.
I had a similar problem and then realised it was the magnetic clip on my case causing the problem

I've experienced the same problem too.
When I started skymap, the orientation didn't change, no matter how much I was waving the phone.
But today I tried to just uninstall it, reboot and then install it again. Strangely enough, now it's working again .
So you could probably try that first before considering hard reset.

I bought my Smartwatch 2 from amazon and apart from being totally disapointed by the fact that Sony removed the shake2wake, music widget and auto brightness I have found an other problem: it gets stuck (happens like once a day) and it usually happens when I let it turn the screen off by its own, it will just dim the screen and get stuck in a dimmed screen state, showing my apps, but I can't interact with it, is anyone else experiencing this, and did anyone manage to fix this problem, or is my devices defective and I should send it back for repairing, and if that's the case can I send it to Sony Roumania instead, cause I don't like the idea of sending it to Amazon UK?

Do you think you might have downloaded an app that is causing this? I haven't had my watch for long but, I downloaded a calander app which would cause my watch to freeze whenever I'd open it.

Downloaded only Sony's apps (most of them) and WatchIT and the xbmc and tasker extensions, don't think any of one can cause that...
EDIT: Forgot to say it also happened when my phone was dead, so the watch was not connected to anything.
Just if anyone is interested and has the same problem as I did, I managed to solve it by unpairing the watch from the phone, reseting the watch and doing the whole repairing process.

Yep, I'm experiencing the same problem as I'm typing. I was just viewing an email and, exactly like you said, the backlight slowly turned off and it just stopped working. I'm going to soft-reset the smartwatch.

Hope you fix it man, the smartwatch 2 is a beautiful device, unfortunately mine is no more (screen got burnt so I sent it back to amazon and got my money back) so I really hope you fix it and keep enjoying it cause I really miss it but oh well, waiting for a g watch and hoping to be as satisfied of it as I was of the smartwatch 2.

The screen of my moto 360 goes randomly off and vibrates at that moment, just like when you dim the screen with your hand., but now I'm using it. It's very frustrating because I can't even open an app normally or the screen goed of and I need to start over again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Having same issues with mine.
Really strange and really annoying. Its like when u cover it with palm. It vibrates and screen goes off but ur in the middle of trying to do something. Anyone else having this problem?
Glad I'm not the only one having this issue, just got my Moto 360 today. I'll be in the Settings or other parts of the watch and it will just randomly turn off. It is really frustrating to deal with.
I have the same issue. I have pretty hairy arms so I wonder if the hairs are somehow triggering the capacitive touch screen.

I'm also having the same problem. I picked up a new Moto 360 during the BBY sale rush of the last couple of days. At first it was buggy but the screen seemed to stay on while working with it. Then it had a system update, and since then most bug issues (like the faces not updating with the companion app changes) went away, however from that point the screen constantly shuts off, usually with a little buzz, while I'm interacting with the watch.
For instance, regarding the sensor used to turn off the watch if you palm it. I thought maybe that was it, so I was looking for a way to turn that off. I went into settings, and spend about 10 times of the screen shutting off before I could get to "accessibility settings" just to see if that might be there.
This problem occurs whether I'm wearing the watch or not (trying to eliminate arm hair or similar), and has occurred after a factory reset and re-pair with my phone (Note 4). Ambient sensor settings don't help, because all that does is make the screen go dark instead of off, but it still reverts back to the clock no matter what I was doing.
Any ideas? Any way to turn off a sensor perhaps, maybe in a custom ROM? Since this seems to be associated with an update near as I can tell, I wonder if a fix is coming from Moto or if it's too rare of an issue to be on their radar.
As an update, I replaced the watch with a new one, and this new watch is perfect. It started on outdated software which I left on for a bit to make sure it didn't show the problem, then I updated. Still no issues. I think there is a chance the problem is software regardless, but either way it must be a small portion of watches and isn't necessarily tied to any particular outside software influence (phone model or android version, or installed apps as NONE of those things changed). My advice to people reading this thread is to exchange the watch or get an RMA if possible.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, if it's normal behavior and if there is a way to correct it.
When I get a phone call, I get the standard caller ID. When I take the call, it changes to the "add a note" card with the caller id image in the background. But when I hang up (from the phone) this card never goes away. If I'm in the office with the watch on the charger in my living room and take a call, I can go in there an hour or two later and that card is being displayed in full brightness in the charger. This is a bit fo a pain, especially if I'm sitting on the couch with the watch in the charger and take a call.
It seemed to me that when I first got the watch, this didn't happen; when I hung up the call, the display would go back to my watch face. I was hoping that once the Lollipop update came through (which seemed to take forever to come) it would go back to the original behavior but it hasn't.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is this by design? Is there anyway to either make it go away on call end or stop it from displaying at all?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My ultimate solution was to buy the Huawei watch. I never could determine the cause which survived every fw upgrade. Between that and the miserable battery life, it was the right decision. The Huawei is better in every way for me and two months into it, I still haven't run the battery out once.

I'm on T-Mobile variant as well as on oreo and have not had such an issue. Which applications have been doing such things?

I've noticed it a few times. Nothing consistent. Probably just the Chinese government making tiny mistakes

Yes im experiencing the same problem with apps just opening over the top of what ever your doing. Apps that I haven't used in awhile. Would love to find out what is causing it
I don't have that issue. The application manager will opens temporarily when device reboots. The only bug I have found is that if I try to disable the amazon app my phone instantly reboots.

I am on Sprint and have used this phone since Sept and never have experienced this, not even on Oreo since I updated on Tuesday.
just to add my two cents. I was having this problem. Turned off Moto voice security and I haven't seen this happen again.

Warning for those who are experiencing it: this bug has the capability to bypass screen locks. Opened up an app today that completely bypassed it. Interrupted my Spotify while at work and saw that app open instead. And I am sure that I locked my phone since I leave it on my toolbox, and don't want all my co-workers in my business.
I'm also having this very same problem. I will also try disabling Moto voice security and see if that rectifies the issue. I will report back in about 2 days.

lol, I'm late. I still have the problem. It's very random and hasn't been happening as frequently but it still happens.
Same on my Note 8. Very frustrating.

This is exactly what is happening to my Galaxy S7 edge since the Oreo update. And it goes right past the lockscreen and my security. My phone is always locked, yet I find I've send a nonsense text, or pocket dialed someone, or that a gibberish email is half-composed, or that my calendar is open and a new nonsense event is half-entered. Somehow Oreo is doing all sorts of screen taps, or allowing my phone to wake up and let the pocket do that. And I have enabled the thing about disable touch when in pocket, and I've shut down smart unlock, but that hasn't made a bit of difference.
This problem is happening with my recently bought Moto Z2 Force. It started out random, but then became pretty consistent. I tried disabling the Moto actions (voice command, voice unlock and one button nav) but the problem kept happening afterwards too and became consistent.
It even opened outlook and managed to delete an important email from my boss that I hadn't read yet! Had I not been looking at my phone while it happened, I would have had one unhappy boss.
Even after unlocking the phone, it would just try random unlock codes for a while and eventually lock out the screen for 30 seconds, and then try again. Wouldn't even let me restart the phone. After struggling for more than 2 hours, I was finally able to restart in safe mode and the problem seemed to stop in safe mode. I disabled Moto actions app, deleted data from that app, and also just to be safe removed the HDR+ cam app that I ported. Planning to monitor for a couple of days and see what happens.
This sh!t is just bonkers!
