Does anyone have a teardown video/guide to this watch?
Im thinking of attempting to put a kinetic charger in the watch, but would prefer to see if theres room before tearing mine apart.

I have a Samsung Captivate and was unable to find the dock sold in Canada at stores or online, so I decided to create a dock of my own.
All I used was a black sketching board (not bristol), black electrical tape and a few other items used to create the dock (scissors, ruler, pencil), also added two batteries for weight but anything else could work.
The dock in my opinion looks very good, I was aiming for a minimalistic look while making it sturdy as well. This dock is also very versatile, it can work in both landscape and portrait mode.
Overall time to make this was two hours *due to figuring out measurements and putting it precisely together*, but it was worth it. I saved myself several dollars which is always a plus.
If you are interested or have any questions about this, just ask!
I have uploaded a few pictures of process and final. (I wasn't able to upload each step by step process due to the picture limit of my account)
Cheers!
Nice!

THATS AWESOME! looks great i have got to try this. unfortunately i have the creativity of a dead leaf
That's pretty awesome. I was thinking of doing something similar with fiber glass shortly. Lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Problem is.... and I'm NOT trying to be critical here, please understand that from the get go.... that ISN'T a dock, it is a stand! A dock also incorporates the charger so you "dock" the phone into the charging port so it automatically connects the cable. What you have, and it is very nice looking, no doubt about it, is a stand with a cable behind it, same as what I've done and most of us have done.
I've rigged a car charging DOCK up once, but the thing is SO fussy, if you are off by a fraction of a millimeter or don't push the phone all the way in with the strength of the Hulk it sometimes seems, then it won't charge the phone, and all those hours spent making something custom are wasted....
Looks good, again! Now make it charge the phone just by dropping it in!
Heya
This looks really nice, is there any way you could make a youtube video or something with the process? im definetly interested. The only image i saw with dimensions isnt enough :S.

This may have been addressed elsewhere already, and if so please accept my apologies. I watch movies on my vibrant fairly often and I would like to have it stand up on its own without having to carry anything extra around. As I recall the htc evo had this feature built in. is there a case or battery cover wroth a kickstand for watching movies? Thanks in advance!
I bought the one they had in the t-mobile store, it is a clear case with a part that you can pull out to prop it up.. sadly it got scratched up really easily and gathered dirt on the inside and looks like garbage. I am going to end up using it to mount my phone while in the car to keep it out of the way..
Not sure I would recommend it, but if you want it bad enough I suppose it is ok.

not the prettiest kickstand, but its something. its just a back case with a built in kick stand. works better than the evo's kickstand
I've always been a minimalist when it comes to accessories.. covers/cases/car docks. Anyway Here's a simple solution I've been using since day one with my Evo. Simple magnet holder.. Below is the link.. $5.00 . Take off your battery cover... the Metal plate the size of a quarter with adhesive sticker sticks to your battery... then put your battery cover on. Then put the magnet anywhere on your dash.. it's black and a half inch thick .. about an inch or so in diamater.. it also has an adhesive sticker. It pretty inconspicuous.. I have mine right above my radio on the dash. It's perfect.. the magnetic strength is strong enough it has NEVER fallen off.. also it's great cuz you can just turn your phone in portrait or landscape without issue. Also the softouch oem battery cover doesn't scratch from putting it off and on.. like I thought it might. So easy to just set it against the dash when getting in the car and pulling it off getting out.

Yeah it kinda sucks there is no power to it.. But I just have my cigarette charger there so I can just attach it when needed.
Looks really cool, I might try it out.
hey op, mind sharing a couple picture of how your phone looks with the attachment? thanks!
I too would love to see how it looks attached to your phone. If you could provide a closeup shot of the adhesive attached to the back of your phone as well as a pic of the phone sitting on your dashboard that would be great.
Thanks!
I used one like this on my old TP2 and I loved it. You only have a little piece of metal on the back of your phone and the magnet attached to your car is really strong. Thanks for the link, I might pick up another one.
I'll attach a pic tomorrow.. don't have a camera other than the one on the phone.. I'll use a friends camera tomorrow for a few shots.
and that magnet doesn't mess up navigation by throwing off the internal compass or whatever?

Looks like they must have changed the price. It says $7.13 + $2.35 shipping.
Here's someone on ebay selling these. $3.29 + $1.95 shipping, and a discount on shipping if you order more than one. I just ordered 4 of them and it came to $17.96 total with shipping.

Yeah that would be my worry... magnet that close to electronics.
I shouldn't cause any issues for the phone itself, but the compass is likely affected. The Palm Pre has little metal tabs in the case in a similar fashion and it doesn't suffer any bad side effects of being on the touchstone (magnetic connection + inductive charging) but the Pre doesn't have a compass.
Just ordered 2 of them to try out, total as under $10.00. One of the advantages is that I think I'll be able to attach my EVO to my multitude of touchstones, even if it can't charge. (yet, may do that mod if I keep the EVO)
Thanks for the tip!
Hey, I record videos of my band with my MyTouch 4g (HTC Glacier) and when My band goes on, well I'm on stage, lol, anyone know of a case with a tripod or a kickstand, something of that nature?

Hey guys check the link on my signature.
This is a stand that will fit any phone, with the case or without it.
It has multiple viewing angles, and you can rotate it to set the phone on any of its four sides.
You avoid blocking any ports with the rotation.
It is removable or you can keep it on the phone. It is also very small that u can bring it with you anywhere.

Actually looks pretty cool. I might buy one next time I have a little extra money to spend on gadgets.
I was searching the web for a disassembly guide for my Nexus, so i could see how it's put together...
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Teardown/7182/1
I found a website with has some nice teardown pictures of it in high QUALITY.
what do you think of how its put together ???
i noticed that the back cover actually goes up around the screen, and I would have liked that the side of the cover was fitted a bit tighter ??
some places you can actually take a thin piece of paper and slide down between the screen and the cover itself ??? its not like you can see the "gab" but do anybody think its a problem ???
Good find! Thanks for posting the link.
