Hi all,
I have tried to find out the answer to this in so many places but I have come up without any answers, so am hoping someone here can help.
When I receive a text message it shows up with the time I received the message, not the time it was sent. Even if I go to "View Message Details" it will show me the received time but not the sent time.
I asked a friend who has a HTC (I don't know anyone else with a Xperia S) phone and he says it shows him the time the message was sent, so I'm wondering if it's a bug with my phone or if it's an issue with the default messaging app from Sony.
Anyway, how do I get it to show me the date and time a text message was SENT to me, and NOT the time I received it?
Many thanks in advance,
Bungle2000
Sony Xperia S LT26i

You can't it only shows the sender of the message the time it was sent while the receiver gets to see the time it was received

Thanks Hayden, does that mean it's just an issue with the default messaging app that Sony provide or is it an issue with the phone?
Would a different messaging app help clear this up or would I need a modded software?
Does anyone know?
Anyone know if this is an issue with the phone or with the default messaging app or Android OS??

it is the same problem that i had with xperia x10...if you use another sms/mms app from market (like handcent) you can see the sent time too
Anyone tried Sliding Messaging?
Thanks guys, I've read about the 2 big sms alternatives for Android - Handcent and Go SMS and there is a lot of people saying that they have become too big for their use.
I like the SMS app on the Xperia S, but I think it's a total UI design flaw to show only time received from incoming messages.
I've read some good things about Sliding Messaging and I've heard it's made by someone from XDA Developers, has anyone tried this?
Thanks,

i'm using from two weeks SMS Sent Time, available for free on paly store, and it works very fine with stock Xperia S sms app...try it
I have searched high and low for a good means of messaging my friends on their Apple devices. They of course want to use nothing but their default Messenger app, and as much as I like Google Voice, it doesn't support pictures or MMS.
I've tried imo.im on both devices with Google Talk, but it's proven to be a bit of a pain, particularly on the ios side.
I'm now looking at all other options, such as Kakaotalk (though I'm in the USA), Facebook Messenger, Skype, and so on. My Nexus 7 is wifi only, and I do not own or use a cellphone (so TabletTalk and Whatsapp won't work).
Considering all of that, can someone please point me in the right direction of a good app or solution?
I just use Google Voice, all my Ipad friends have no problems with it. You do need to get a GV# for best use.

So far that's been the best solution, but I can't send or receive photos, which is something a lot of my friends and family do.

Can you get them to use something like Kik? cross-platform, send receive photos, etc.

Possibly. It was like pulling teeth to get them all to try IMO.im, and because that didn't go well I'm guessing any other client I ask them to install had better be downright amazing. I was looking at Kik, Skype, Kakaotalk, or possibly Facebook Messenger (though I was worried something like Facebook Messenger or Google+ Messenger would make conversations publicly accessible, which annoys me). Any specific opinions on which would be better?
I use Tango to chat with my fiancé who has an iPhone. Video chat works seamlessly as well. That's what I would suggest.

Oh wow... Tango looks pretty awesome! I didn't see it because it's under the Social category of the Play store rather than the Communications category like so many of the others.
Ok, this thread is now officially a Tango vs Kik discussion! I think it's between those two. Any opinions?

I don't trust G+ messenger anymore.. A lot of messages weren't delivered, and sending pictures is a pain in the *** I'm also searching a good messenger for me and my friends.. But there's none for me ATM. I tested every single one, like, 1000 companies got my contacts and numbers now, but nothing was good. The best, was kik, but, it's so.. Clean, too clean for me.. Sending pictures on kik is awesome and fast, also, it's the fastest messenger, even if you kill the process it still boots fast without any loading screen.. But it has like none features.. Just the standard ones.. Also it has a few.. Idk, weird things like when I receive a message from "mike" only, and open it, it goes to the contact list instead of the conversation... A no go for me.. Kik needs to grow with features, even tiny ones like what I've mentioned above.. But if you can live with a clean one, here you go, dolphinetly kik.
Oh.. I wrote a lot lol ^^

You could also use Textnow, it gives you a texting number that can recieve pictures, it's also bubble formatted messages like modern messengers (similar to iphone's) . As long as you use your number once in 90 days,it's yours forever. They've also added voip calling, but i think you have to pay for minutes on that.
I use hangouts to chat from iOS to nexus to OS X

GroupMe as a Cross Platform Chat
Hi I would suggest GroupMe.
https://groupme.com/
They have apps for almost any platform. You can do simultaneous log in with one account.
One group chat allows up to 50 participants.
Cheers
Whether it be this device, my nexus 4, stock roms, custom roms I cant seem to get notifications working for the facebook app. Anyone know any other app , or fixes for FB to work properly.
try Friendcaster (free on google play), it is a good alternative, but if you still want the original FB app notification to work,
1) find any Blackberry.
2) login to your FB account using Blackberry native FB app.
3) make sure you are logged in and you can see your FB stuff.
4) logout and you'll have the FB notification
i tried it and it worked, but i switched to Friendcaster because it is faster

I was just wondering ur guys opinion on what text message app works best and the most smooth with the 360... I have the LG g3 if that makes any difference... Thanks

What I'm looking for is an app or maybe a settings where when I read a text message on my watch and dismiss it would be dismissed as read on my phone... Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I use Hangouts, SMS only no Google Voice. Seems to work great. I see a lot of people like Textra.
Personally I'm a big fan of the new stock SMS "Messenger" app that comes with 5.0 Lollipop (you can easily sideload the APK); it works a bit more seamlessly with the watch in my opinion, and I like the app itself better than Hangouts. In terms of having the message marked "read" when you dismiss it, I haven't found one yet that has that functionality (not completely anyway) I've used the stock Samsung S5 Messaging app, Hangouts, and the new Lollipop Messenger app; usually they all behave the same way, when you read and dismiss it from your watch, it dismisses the notification on your phone, but when you go into the messaging app the message is still "unread" within the app.

The stock Messaging app on the Sony Z3 has the option to Mark as Read on one of the left swipes - and also to read the whole message thread, and Reply or Open on Phone. I actually prefer it this way, personally, as I might want to swipe away the clutter on the watch while also not losing track on the phone of any messages I need to return to later.
In some ways it's more like reading an expanded notifcation on the phone, then optionally tapping Mark as Read there if you don't care about it.
* Textra allows you to mark as read, and reply by voice only (not with WM, i.e. no Minuum support)
* EvolveSMS (I haven't tested this in three months) allows you to select up to three 'buttons' which then reflect as actions on your wearable
* Hangouts can reply with Minuum, and can view full conversation, but won't mark the conversation as read
Basically, in my opinion, there is no perfect Wear-compatible SMS app out there.
EvolveSMS allows mark as read and voice reply through android wear and has high definition contact photos.
I use it in combination with wear messenger to be able to view full conversation lists. However, it also works great by itself

Does it sync with contact photos that are taken from the Google contact joins? Or does it require the premium IAP to manage its own sync?

Yep contact photos will sync automatically with whatever photos you've got on your google contacts. I believe the IAPs are primarily for themes - haven't purchased any myself.

Thanks, I might give it another try. Last time I asked the developer, he said it wasn't possible (despite other apps being able to).

Well, I would guess it's because whatsapp and the sms apps use "pre-canned" replies. In other words, I think you can only send one of several pre-determined responses, and not type a message like you would using the phone based apps.
Awesome, didn't even know about this keyboard. Now I want to put the Google Keyboard on with the material theme, and as for messaging you should try Wear Messenger. Its a paid app but I think its well worth it right now, I can reply to texts, read conversations.
Well i saw a guy testing microsoft's keyboard and he actually made it work he replied to hangout's messege i tried too but i didn't made it so microsoft in her app discription says that i have to invoke the keyboard and i dont know how
