[Q] Android M.. - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Strange, I was not able to find any thread on this - for me quite important- question:
Any trustworthy, genuine info on whether our beloved LG3 gets official update to Android M?
If I calculate right, it would be within the 18 months, Google mostly uses as official update limit to handsets..
Anybody, any info on this?

it certainly will 2 year update guarantee

Here is thread 1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/lg-android-m-update-t3107646
and here is thread 2. (Closed because 1 thread is enough) http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/android-m-coming-android-6-0-t3107892
And you claim you searched???

My question was some "trustworthy, genuine" info on this, not a poll, with "my bet is" posts - but thanks anyway for pointing to this thread.
To rephrase the question (as it was ment):
Some official info from LG/ Google / any reliable source on update of G3 to Android M?

The release was preview today...how you can ask about a trustworthy info about an release that even released??
Logically 90 days after officially release like L so by the end of the year maybe we can have it!

Here is your Trustworthy and Genuine info.
Google anounced Android M "Developer Preview" today so LG does not even know when they will get an official release, or if the G3 will even get this update.
so for now you could only wish for Android M. The real question should be for L 5.1 or 5.2
Good Read.

Software update

I just clicked on software update/check for update in the 'About Phone' section of my settings. I've never clicked it before. It said new firmware required. So I let it download the new software. Then it said charge battery before updating, and then it let me choose when to resume the update. I chose 3 hours. So I'm on stock Android 2.3.3. Gingerbread XWKE7 . What will it update to? I'm a bit worried now, is it going to wipe stuff? Everything's working good so I don't 'need' to update, but it would be nice to. Can I cancel the update? Only thing I can see is 'resume update'.
If you are from london uk. I think the OTA(over the air) version is gingerbread 2.3.4. I do not think it is a wipe device firmware but just to be safe, back it up via kies if your phone is not rooted otherwise use titanium backup if your phone is rooted.
Trust me I would go with the update. Some improvements. I wish we could update
For sure it is NO WIPE version.
Thanks guys, it's a relief it didn't wipe anything.
This is what I got. I thought it might also update Android but it hasn't. What benefits can I expect from the updated Gingerbread XWKF3?

Oh look, it's the voluntary forum policeman.
I made a duplicate thread because I wasn't sure which forum to post it in and I panicked a bit last night so needed a fast answer. OK?

[Q] Google Wallet "Hardware Not Supported" Error After Zip to APK

Hey guys I posted this in Galaxy Nexus App's subsection but I realize it was in the wrong place, so I re posted it here which I hope is the "proper" section.
I'm really sorry about this guys I know how much you hate people asking stupid questions but I really cant find the answer to this.
Hey everyone, hope someone can help me out, I've spent hours researching but this is one of those problems where I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem; basically I installed wallet using the old ZIP method, after removing it I found out I had to change files to be able to install the new APK method so I followed those instructions on this thread however I am not getting a weird error saying
"Hardware Not Supported"
"Sorry, this device is not yet supported. We are working too add support. Please check Market later for Updates."
Is anyone else having this problem or am I the only one?
EDIT: Just realized I posted this in the wrong place. Can Mod's move or delete this and I'll create another one in Q&A?
Should I just used the Zip method again, the main reason I wanted to switch is that I'm not sure if that method received updates.

Are you rooted? A new update to Google Wallet made rooted devices display some sort of incompatible message (don't ask me though since I haven't tried Google Wallet myself, I've just heard and seen threads about it).
Device incompatibility banner at the top?
You're fine.
This shows up on all rooted phones.
Also, I'd uninstall...and install it by scanning this!

You'll get market updates.
Search and read before opening ANOTHER thread about this!! There are 4 new threads a week asking the same questions about Google Wallet that have been answered a long time ago! This is getting ridiculous.

Notificationcenter

How do I get my notificationcenter to look a bit like this instead of having a toolbar with standard 5 icons(wifi, bluetooth, gps, autoupdate and brightness)

I thought 4.1.1 had it too.
I'm stock and not very experienced to install a rom from here, seems very difficult.
I hope 4.2 soon comes from Google.

A. It's the opposite of difficult. If you can read you are more than capable of flashing a rom.
B. 4.2 already came from Google. Where did you think it came from? Apple?

I read quiet well but I also read about how people brick their phones cause something goes wrong.
I mean an official one that I download and update thru my phone.
Well the official one has come from Google as well so if you haven't got it, chances are that your phone is updated by Samsung instead

Why does Samsung update the nexus as well as google?
We all have the same phone don't we?
I have android 4.1.1 and no update if I search.
Strange why we don't get the 4.2 all at one's?

Obviously you don't "read quiet well" if you have to ask. There are multiple variants of GNex, each dependent on a different provider for the update (Google, Samsung, Sprint and Verizon).

No one has anything in terms of real code. All we have are RDF entries from Sprint's website ...where the latest internal test build is OSVersion 4.4.2 SoftwareNumber is L900VPUCND2
http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SPH-L900-SPRINT/latest
*Only viewable properly in Internet Explorer
And that RDF is more than a few weeks old...meaning it might end up being official OTA by the end of the month....or it might mean Sprint ran into roadblocks...or it might mean that OTA official L900 dev is dead...or it might merely mean that tomorrow is Monday and not to read too much into it. L900 and Note2s in general have not had build leaks for over a year, sadly.

Thanks for the info...... :good:
Here is something else I found that may add some more information
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/547957/20140414/samsung-galaxy-s3-note-2-android-4.htm#.U0vF8_ldWx8
Hey folks... I'm going to close this thread out as we already have multiple threads discussing this.
For example this is the official RDF discussion which is a good spot right now for 4.4 TW talk:

Question ROMs with OTA updates?

hi, does anyone knows what ROMs have OTA updates?

Are you looking for AOSP-based roms or MIUI? There should be plenty of threads with the 'development' tag that will include whether they have ota updates in their descriptions.
AOSP only, there are a lot of ROMs that dont have threads here, thats the reason i'm asking..
also, sometimes they will say they have OTA but in reality they dont.

Yeah. The developer for Arrow OS recently had some real life stuff to distract him, but he's getting back into it. Their recent build goes from 13.0 > 13.1 and doesn't appear to have ota. It's also considered 'unofficial' for the time being, when before his contributions were labeled as 'official'.

Palaych simply forked it, that's why. He wanted more independence from the official ArrowOS Team, and have the ability to decide which changes he wants or doesn't want to include.
OTA Support got added in the 2nd ArrowOS MiPa 13.0 update.
ArrowOS for Poco F3 is staying Unofficial. For the user there are no downsides anymore. OTA got added, and it feels as reliable as when it was Official. It gets updates on a ~monthly basis, which should be enough.
