Hey guys. I have the kindle fire but it's not the HD. I know it's not a 1st gen cause it has the black metal strip accross the back of it with the speakers in it on either side. And it has 1gb of ram, not 512. I want to flash a Android Rom to it but all the vids I find on Youtube are all showing A different version from the kindle i have (presumably the 1st gen). Can someone help me out and point me in the direction I need for the files I need for my specific Kindle?
P:S The model number on it is X43Z60 if that helps any.

I managed to get CM11, Android 4.4.4, on this Kindle but it reboots constantly. About 6 times a day when I'm using apps.

Has anybody managed to get this working on the Kindle Fire?
It is an app so that people with a SKY Subscription (UK Satellite service) can watch television programmes online.
The description says it is only compatible with:
HTC Desire
HTC Desire S
HTC Desire HD
HTC Incredible
HTC Sensation
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S II
I would imagine something in the build.prop would need to be altered since its only compatible with those devices. I have not seen a working version around, but the news is still pretty fresh.
Sky Go on Kindle Fire
I downloaded the lastest version of SkyGo from another mirror respect play store but the app didn't recognize that the kindle is connected to the wifi-spot and ask me to connect it..
Someone soved this problem?
sky go will only work if you change the build prop to say Galaxy Nexus instead of "Amazon Kindle Fire" and change amazon to say google in the build description. Also it will not work on rooted kindles, so after making the change to the build prop you will need to unroot, it doesnt work if you have a custom rom either lol. alot of ifs and buts. so to sumarise.... you need stock rom rooted, change build prop as per above, and unroot after build prop has been modified.
Hello all,
I was thinking of putting Kindle Fire HD's in my store for people to use. I already use iPads and have them Jailbroken to lock anyone down from changing/installing/deleting anything.
I use these enclosures, for the iPads, on the tables. And they make an enclosure for the original Kindle Fire, but I would be using the Kindle Fire HD. The iPad's are too expensive.
Now what can I do to keep users from accessing the settings and installing/deleting anything? Also no in-app purchases. Are there any mods or apps that can do this? I know the iOS can.
You can add a user and limit what they can get to.

You could use this app:

Not sure of it works on the stock os or not since I'm running a standard kf2 on CyanogenMod.
Honestly not even sure of this is exactly what you are looking for.
Also- you can turn off in app purchases on cyanogenmod (aosp).. Again, not sure if it works on stock.
Not sure how savvy you are w android devices so unable to tell you if YOU can do it.
Edit: in a business environment you MIGHT be better off w the nexus 7

Ok. Just followed your link for the cases. I think the app you would want is this:

I am new to the Kindle Fire world, and just bought a new Fire HD. I like it except for the home screen, I would rather have the typical Android screen that I could add widgets and stuff to.
So, short of Rooting the device, is there a launcher that will work with a new Fire that will let me do this? Thanks for the help!

wrong section. this is for the 1st gen kindle. you want this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1782
I have an old gen 1 otter that when I learned how to upgrade the OS there was a buildrop file that "tells" Google / Amazon what tablet it is. THAT file says Nexus 7 (afaik it is the 2012 model).
Can someone make a flashable file like that for the 8.9 jems ??
Am I missing a very basic thing, or does no one want / care about this??
As my jem can no longer play an Amazon game called castle clash due to this 8.9 I.D., I'd like to avoid / delay this from happening again in the future.
?? Can I just copy the one I have for my otter and modify it, or is it way different?
The COMMON tablet I found that is "close" to the jem is the Nexus 10.
I don't mind making it myself, I just need info. I just thought it would be a good idea for all jem hackers to have.......
Oh, I learned this stuff HERE at x-da. The otter is running CyanogenMod ASOP 4.2.2 and I still use it to this day.
Is there a way to change the start up logo on the kindle fire? The default one is getting boring, and it would be cool to have different ones... is there a way to change it
(I have a kindle fire HD 10 2017, running the latest OS)
Not with the stock OS.
But, you might want to check the dedicated "HD 8 / HD 10" forum section to be sure.
