I just recently bought a used Blue Angel for my Cingular provider.
Let me just say, with this site I am in love with this device. It's the best phone I've ever owned.
One downfall though, this version does not include the camera.
I know other models include the camera, and I expect it's probably just a add-on peripheral and that my phone probably has the port for the camera addon already(Or I can solder one
What I'm asking is, has anybody tried this?
Also I would like to know where I could buy the replacement case/body for it if I can add a camera(my used case is pretty banged up)
I think that your best chance is to swap the case and camera with someone who doesn't use it. Personally I would trow away my camera if I could have that black case of XDA IIs in exchange for it.
Ah crap, it's hard enough finding sellers for cases.
Sellers for cameras? >.<
I'm willing to pay up to 30$ USD for the camera addon for the blue angel though, if all else I'd dremel a hole in my phone >.> <.<
I've done this several times...it is FAR, FAR easier than one might think! A 13/64" hole in the right location, the software off the ftp, and bingo! I actually used the dremel tool on the PPC-6600 case to remove the high edges of the casing so it would fit nicely over the SX66 board. Then I drilled a hole where I thought the camera would be. Now I can see the camera through the back of the casing. After that I just measured from the edge of the little rubber stopper to the center of the camera, and from the edge where the battery fits to the center of the camera. I marked those dimensions onto the SX66 casing and carefully drilled the hole. Ended up with a nice round hole, in the approximately right place (maybe a 0.5mm off center), that didn't interfere with the camera. And oh yes, the camera came out of the PPC-6600! Only problem is the SX66 does NOT have the leads for the flash...but the SX66 comes with the necessary bracket for the camera! Or you could just buy the MDA casing that has the nice camera hole...if you can find one!
I don't care about the flash.
I just need a place to get the camera addon dude.
That's the real kicker.
What in the bloody hell, can a mod get rid of these advertisers please?
Hi, I'm looking for a camera to fit my Blue Angel as well.
I have 2 units, a Cingular's Siemens and a Tmobile MDA I bought in ebay. The MDA had the LCD broke, so I recovered the camera and used in the Siemens that I actually use.
So, did you find anyone who sells the camera?
Thank you
I need a camera too....
Camera, Camera, whos got the Camera?
I have several for sale. Each comes with the necessary driver and template for making the hole, detailed instructions, and I throw in a torx driver. This 1.2 MP is a no flash version, and as BioChaz stated it wouldn't work on the SX66 any how. Contact me if you are interested. $58 per camera set shipped to anywhere in the US I can walk without getting my feet wet. They are listed on eBay along with my moded SX-66 camera phones.

Had my One X for a week and already I have a couple scratches on the camera lens... I'm ultra careful with my devices too!
This is simply from just sitting my phone down as it rests on the lens..
Careful out there!

I'm thinking now that I'm going to have to order a case... I hate putting cases on my phones... Especially the one x as it's pretty huge as is..
What case did you order?

My only gripe with this phone is that there is no protective ring around the camera.
You need a case with this phone unless you want scratches on the camera lens. Kind of a bummer cause I prefer my phones naked.

i didnt order one yet, at&t around here is getting the One X(L) the 6th of May which is coming up so once that comes in i'll get a case from there. Amazon retailers had ugly cases and they said 18-26 days shipping to the states. F that noise.
p.s. i hate cases too, i might have bought a case when i acquired the phone but i figured the lens was set inside the metal ring more and that the gorilla glass would hold up but after seeing someone on these forums with a shattered screen already, i am not taking any chances.
There appear to be two protector screens on the market that come with a protector for the lens. I tried ordering both. The Nillkin from piyobaby on fleabay has been a noshow since being ordered on April 13 despite an email to the vendor and I will probably have to dispute payment. The Martin Fields came through Amazon and seems fine to me, though I did see an allusion to failed application elsewhere on these boards. So ymmv, but I think trying to keep the lens from scratching is worth the effort.

I picked up a case for this very reason. Got a shell case on Amazon for $5.00 and it seems to do a great job protecting the nipple,

Yeah i'l ultra careful with my phone too and i place it on a soft surface everysingle time and still got the scratch, it's crazy.
At home i rest it on the leather couch arm
At work i rest it on a notepad
any other time its in my pocket
In the car i have one of those non slip gel mats.
Had mine 6 weeks now and, touch wood, nothing done to it.
This is my biggest fear as well.
I dont care about the non-removable battery or no sd-card, neither if the SGS3's Exynos processor wipes the floor with Tegra 3.
But this Camera Design is really off the charts. I received my One X yesterday and only carried it in my really clean jeans pocket without anything else. Tiny scratches already. Think that a screen protector will noticeably lower camera quality in various situations.
I thought I had a scratch the other day but it came off.
When I put my phone down it is always on top of my official htc leather case, seems to be doing ok so far, touch wood.

Interesting conversation, but my Martin Fields protector seems to be doing fine re the lens. Just a couple of points: this is an 8 mp phone camera. No special claims about the lens glass quality, although one aspect that very much attracted me is that it shoots at f2. The software is not Lightroom quality and even if it were, the camera makes no pretentions to shooting raw. Even on a supposedly high-quality camera like my Leica, with not exactly cheap lenses, you would shoot raw to maximize the possibility of achieving a high quality output. If shooting in a dark environment and using a flash, your photo can still come out looking unevenly lit, hazy, etc., depending on a lot of factors. If you choose to shoot without a flash, well, not all cameras do well at their highest claimed ISO, which is one reason that people use tripods with a lower ISO and slower shutter speed.
I prefer not having to deal with a scratched lens that could end up ruining every photo to occasionally dealing with some of the effects of glare/flare, etc. Which is one of the reasons I finally caved and decided a couple of my Leica and dslr lenses needed protective filters - and purists will often tell you that even the best "interfere" with the lens.
Try shooting without the flash whenever possible. At f2, this little phone camera can do more than you think and actually produces better (imo) colors.
there are cases on ebay (uk) for £1.25 free p+p that stick out just above the camera so it wont touch anything.

After a month of use I too have a few scratches on the lens glass around the rim. Nothing to compromise the capture quality yet, but it is clear that this issue will progress without protective measures.
I have been quite careful with the device, carrying it in my pocket without anything else, and now and then putting it on a table. Seems like in incredibly bad engineering solution to make both screen and back cover scratch resistant, yet let the camera lens be compromised so easily, plus placing it right where the phone inavitably contacts any surface it rests on.
I have scratches on ly lens as well. I now put a bit of protection foil over it, which I can replace.
I have scratches as well. I have been really carefull with my phone. The scratches are just from setting it down and thats it. It amazes me that they made the lens design like this. Having the Ring stick out a tad further would have prevented all of this.
I just started using a pouch as I dont like the normal cases. Sometimes I still need to set my phone down and dont want to put it back in the pouch if its going to be for a second.
Thinking about buying the the HTC flip case. Unfortunately they only have it in white and I have the black phone.
Guys are you sure you have a scratch in the camera lens or just a light reflection from inside the Camera because this what I used to think for the past three weeks until last night I was cleaning My Hox and I realized its not a scratch its just a light reflection coming from inside the camera I even told my brother to check it and he said the same thing.
Hi guys,
This is my first post. HTC one V is the first smartphone that I owned. I got it through a relative from Malaysia in April and to tell the truth I was hooked.
The Good: Excellent looks and finish and a brilliant display was things that are a bargain at this price range. Combine that with a fluid interface, excellent battery life for a smartphone (i got about 36hrs once) and tethering support it was real good.
The Bad: But as everything else out there there are the lows. First is the camera- everything is good except for the image quality. Looking at the images on the phone screen can be deceiving (display is that good). On a larger computer screen or print the images look just average. The colors look artificial and may often look over softened (clear once you zoom the image). Samsung galaxy ace and sony xperia mini series (both have 5MP cameras) are miles ahead in image quality. Sound quality is good but not the best. Placement of charger port was also odd. Except for the camera other things can be forgiven including the non-existent Compass !
Ugly: Now to the hardest part - complaints. First time i switched on the phone I noticed yellow patches on display on the left side bottom and top corners. Clearly visible on startup screen, browser, documents, ebooks etc., (white and grey backrounds). I was thinking whether to send it back to malaysia to claim guarantee and then decided against it for two reasons -
1. patches is not an issue in other screens (except for the plain backround) and can be ignored as it is in the corners (it did not go away even after a months use as some claimed).
2. I was in absolute love with the phone and just could not think of not having it for more than a month if it has to go to malaysia and then come back :silly:
Then last week I was traveling. watched a video clip, listened to some songs attended two calls and then put the mobile in my pocket (more than 40% charge remaining). After about 45mins when I took it out and the phone was simply dead. Nothing could make it switch on. Now I have sent it back to Malaysia with my relative. I really don't know whether they will repair it or replace and when I am going to get it.
So that's the story. I hope I get a good unit back
Are yo sure you talking about the same phone! lol
i've had mine for2 months and quite frankly, it rocks
camera is awesome, and very clear pictures when i transfer to pc.
have friends with differents htc's ranging from the one to sensation and they all envy my new phone.
Im Loving it!
I'm Lovin' it
Hi japodude,
Loving the phone doesn't make the image better and yes I am talking about the same phone. I agree that the image is very clear, unfortunately there is a difference between clarity and quality.
I never said camera is bad but the quality of image definitely is not up to the mark and may be due to optimizations by the camera software. Look at bright portraits with contrasting colors and you will see colors getting a washed-out look. It just could have been better. You may not see this in landscapes. Or may be I got a bad piece of camera in my set.
But I do agree on one count. The phone is awesome
ive used a spectromitor to calibrate monitor colours to match my phone colour. the real test would be to print one picture and see.
my previous phone is nokia x6,,also 5mp,,i compared camera picture of these 2 phones and i must say my x6's camera is far better than one v
and im facing problems of heating..gaming makes this phone really hot..and i got one time experience of after gaming for 15 mins,, phone got hot,, i leave it for 2 hours,, when i picked it up its still hot,, i put it in the floor to absorb cold and then it cools..
but overall im satisfied with my 1st android phone..the price,, looks and performance
Hi alborotz,
Nokia traditionally is good with camera (hardware). Remember the N-series, and now the N8 and pureview, something that HTC will take a long time to achieve. Check out the blind test on gsmarena comparing pureview to a number of phone cameras and even olympus. It is not a surprise for me that HTC One X came last (actually zero votes!!!).
One V is not much of a gamer, I believe, but a good all-rounder. i am sure you must have admired the display when playing some of those (Temple Run, Angry Birds, Raging thunder). Things just look so ONEderful. I checked out a colleague's galaxy SII. Though AMOLED, it had a heavy bluish tinge, almost like looking through a blue filter. Comparing both these side by side, One V was better in clarity and SII better with the contrast (Not bad for a phone in this range!!) Heating must be due to the aluminium body which conducts heat better than the plastics out there. May be its good for the phone internals (i am guessing here!!).
I am just wondering when I will get my phone back -whether it will be a replacement or repair. just itching to get it back
Thanks guys
I like my One V. Is small, handy, has crisp and good sound, also screen is visible in direct sunlight (now we have african temperatures over 30 C, here in Poland). And the phone is much lighter than Evo 3D, which I had earlier.
I love this phone. Very good first android/starter phone for anyone thinking about that.
I got my phone- and a new one
Hi guys,
To conclude, I finally got my phone back and yes its a new one too. This time no trace of yellow spots... Back to days of android on my ONEderful V :highfive:

Yes, you're absolutely right about this.

I did consider that angle. The position was not suitable for that to happen. I put the phone in my front left jeans pocket, the chin was down and screen facing away from me. In that position both keys (volume and power) comes towards my left with power key to the open part of jeans and volume key away from outside thigh. So, that's pretty much a far stretched possibility. But then as one Mr. Holmes said "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth".
And now the replacement unit is too good. No trace of anything yellow. And boy I am happy..except that I have to buy a screenguard again

bezbeV,
How long did it take to get your phone back from HTC?
I have a problem with my camera where yellow specs/dots show up on pictures on white backgrounds. I have only seen one other post about this issue on another forum.
I contacted HTC and they said to perform a soft reset and if that didn't work, a factory reset. Both did nothing. My next option is to contact their warranty and repair specialists. Just wondering if its worth it.
Thanks.

Well, it actually took quite a long time, almost 2+ months, but then again it may depend on the country/region you are in. But do read my previous post - I did not give the phone for repair just because it had yellow spots, but it was DEAD. So I did not have a choice.
Next is your second point. HTC is bluffing. The yellow spot is a "manufacturing defect on the LCD screen" which will not go away with any soft or hard reset. Don't waste your time on this, but do make backups. If you purchased the phone recently, DEMAND a replacement immediately from HTC. Check the phone on the spot for any spots before accepting the new piece.
I believe that it is worth to get a replacement even if it takes a month than to live with the thought that what you purchased with your hard earned money which is supposed to be 'quality-checked' before delivery is a defective piece. You certainly did not get it from a factory-seconds store or discount sale. Why should you carry a defective piece?

Hi, am actually from India and I got the phone through a relative in Malaysia. I am sorry but cannot help you with the best price place. But as far as yellow spots go, i too heard that phones after april has come rectified. So prefer a set which is manufactured after april by checking serial number on the pack.it will be in the format AANNAAANNNN (N-number, A-alphabet). Prefer something that starts with SH over HT and 'N' at 4th place supposedly give you the manufacturing month (look for a value 5 and above here!). Once you have purchased it, open the set in front of them and check for any yellow spots (visible on white and grey backgrounds). If so return the piece immediately. You are eligible for a replacement then.
Do let us know once you get it.. best wishes
This happens with me a lot!

Looking to truly make my phone waterproof but usable for the times I'm kayaking or playing near the water. I use off brand cases before with my LG and they worked great. Poetic made one but now the OP7 pro seems to have ZERO support for waterproof cases as of yet. Anyone see one or have anything? No not a plastic zip lock bag.
Might wanna check this site and see if that's something that will work for you.. https://www.armor-x.com/case/oneplu...ugged-shockproof-case-armband-bike-mount.html

I looked at those it's the first thing that comes up when you Google waterproof case for this phone but please let me know where it actually shows being completely sealed and "waterproof" cause truly they don't show that at all.
I would love one too, but I think due to the pop up selfie camera it isn't possible to make one fully waterproof. (well I guess they could build out a pop area that is always there and the camera pops up and down. This pop up camera is a nice way to solve the cut out/bezel issue but really prevents case designers from making one that completely seals the phone.

I could care less about the pop up camera while I'm in areas that I would like to use a waterproof case truly. But I do see your point but it's still the users option to use it or not
If Kayaking seal it in a zip lock bag, or one of those special waterproof bags marketed for stuff like waters ports especially scuba diving.
Do they make waterproof fanny packs?
I guess if I was playing near water I probably just wouldn't have my phone on me at all?
Might come across as unhelpful, or bad attitude, but that really isn't my intent. If you gotta have your phone with you in dangerous watery situations, the 7P doesn't seem like the right phone?
There are YouTube videos (or at least one) that show a 7P being dropped in a glass of water and living. I've also read Oneplus put it through to paces for the certification, but didn't pay for the certification. Suggesting it does better than seems logical with that camera.
Maybe you could get a case that otherwise seems right for your activities, and use some waterproof RTV to seal the camera hole in the case? They make it in many colors, including clear, black, and grey, so it might blend in. It would eliminate the selfie cam while in case but you said that doesn't bother you.
Yeah, price tag is what it is and it took me a while to decide to buy it however, I've bought it.
Wanted badly to try the OPPO Find N2 but is basically impossible to find it Italy.
My Flip3 obviously went to my gf .
First impression is very good.
Got the 256gb version which are more than enough to me.
Front screen is awesome, I can now type with one hand. Inner display is awesome to use with two hands.
Phone however has a strange form factor and getting used to that is not easy also it's heavy and, with both the spigen covers I've bought, it looks like a brick. Not a problem, I like bricks.
Camera didn't impressed me at all to be honest. Also I've already faced some resolution problems with a game ( League of Kingdoms ) which I play all day long basically but it only happens on the inner screen.
Never stand reading books on phone but I think this one will make me change my mind. Also drawing on it is awesome.
This told, do you have any suggestions like apps and accessories for this brick?
Look up good lock that will give you some more little perks for some more little tweeks I had the og fold and liked it ill get another fold at some point though
posted this in another thread, thought you might find it useful

Try naked or aramid/leather case. It's a lot more durable than you think! Most things that would do it in will render any other flagship into a pile of broken glass any way you look at it!
The camera is fine for what it is, typical Samsung processing keeping results within its limits unlike the S22 ultra that pushes sharpening to the extreme. ;-) The only thing I miss is the long zoom but the 30X stretch still works for sign reading when needed.
samsung original case with flip back to make it a tablet stand... is a perfect choice for me.
