Whenever Wifi is on the battery doesn't last very long.
The device is even placed directly next to the router.
I've checked several kernels and flashed the latest radio as well.
What might cause exactly this problem? Any way to setup the wifi?

Try to understand that a router as a device create signal about 400 feet and consumes electricity,ur phone which recieves it is just running under 1300 mA current and still complaining about battery, bro then use stabillizer for ur mobile...

How long does your battery last???
my usage is not very continuous, but this should fit it:
wifi off & about 3hours usage => one day
wifi off & no usage > 2 days
wifi on & usage > 1/2 day

do u need ur wifi on constantly? stick the power widget on ur home then just whack it on and off as needed - i do that with data too...basically so i can control when i get my emails/updates so there isnt a constant buzzing in my pocket
Getting a battery life of 16-18 hours with Wifi on 24x7 is pretty normal.
turn off auto sync. if u have email aps then increase the refresh time. siilarly increase refresh time for weather apps (i keep 3 hrs). try this n lemme know

I just installed CM10.2 (10.2-20131124-UNOFFICIAL-codina) on my GT-i8160 - and I love it.
Only problem is that it uses a lot of battery when idling - the past few days around 60% battery is used on the Android OS process. Also, for some reason, the phone refuses to charge in my car (no problems when connected to a computer or the wall charger).
Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it? I haven't been able to verify that it's a common issue on my phone - on the contrary I haven't been able to find any reports on the same issues.
Thanks

Btw post some screen somethings..
Did you wipe data / factory reset and wipe dalvik cache?
Oh, i fprgot to mention that after fixing CPU freq settigs , freqnon startup is 800/800 ( at least for me )
Set to 200/800 for normal usage
Set to 200/400 for less usage + saving battery
Set 200/200 for battery saving
Shen setting 200/800 check "set on boot"

My phones signal was full. No background apps. Still ~2% per hour seems a lot. Any ideas?

Completely stock. Fully charged then left in "sleep mode", 5% drain in 15hrs.

Are you rooted? Try Gsam. And gsam root companion if you're rooted. The stock battery screen says nothing useful.
Having WiFi on all the time should not drain battery. I think your problem is something else. But yeah, 2% per hour is terrible.
---------- Post added at 07:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:34 PM ----------
You want to check held awake time and times waking device in gsam... If rooted.
---------- Post added at 07:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:35 PM ----------
But yes, always scan for WiFi should be off. But in my opinion, turning off WiFi when screen is on hurts more than it helps. WiFi has to constantly connect every time you touch your phone.
Should be able to get excellent standby drain with WiFi on constantly.
gonna try gsam and let you know. i was rooted but i decided to go back to full stock, get ota etc.
i tried fully wiping, flashing stock 2.22.401.4 rom + firmware and then ota to 2.22.401.5 and restore everything from backup but the drain is still quite similar. what's surprising is, the build versions i had before, they had excellent standby time, like 2% gone after 9 hours. so its really a bummer why the battery is just slowly and painfully draining away :\

We need the time held awake and times waking device screens. If you aren't rooted, and/or haven't installed gsam root companion, you won't see those as options.
But they are the only screens that matter in this case. If you can't get them, we have no clue what's waking your device.
We need those 2 shots and a good long discharge to see what's going on.

If you can.... Please go from 100 to 10 or 15 percent, then post the main gsam screen, app screen, held awake time screen, times waking device screen and for fun, the radio screen.

I can tell you already, with all those social apps... And especially if location is on... You're going to get average battery life at best.
You should Greenify any social apps you can, that you can live without notifications. It'll make a huge difference.

I tried a lot of things but came to the same conclusion you did. I guess with the amount of social media apps+auto sync going on it's bound to drain. However if I do come across a possible solution then I'll definitely post it here.

It was the syncing. Turned off sync and deleted some of the social apps to check.
Standby it barely drains now. Already unrooted and back to stock. Thanks for the help.
SOLUTION
i dont use mobile data but my network mode was set to gsm/wcdma/lte auto. ive noticed that whenever its set to anything thats auto, it causes standby drain trying to figure out the appropriate connection. anyways, long story short, changed network mode to GSM only and voila!

The same thing happened to me I had high battery usage from cell standby. What I did to stop the battery drain from cell standby was to turn on airplane mode and then I can still turn on wifi while airplane mode is on problem solved
Had the same problem. In my case, the main culprits were Skype and WiFi background scanning. The last two versions of Skype don't play nice at all with the android 4.4.3 update. Anyhow, after removing Skype and disabling WiFi scanning from the advance WiFi settings, battery life went back from dismal (13 hours with 5% left) to amazing (20 hours with 40% left) at the end of the day.
Hope that helps,
Cheers
Hi guys,
I have updated my phone via LG flashtool, i did a full wipe, and installed a totally stock Marshmallow.
I have used Fulmics ROM based on Lolli.
I feel like the phone's battery doesn't last longer, maybe even worse but maybe it should need more time with that ROM.
I watched a 10 min youtube video and the phone got really hot, unlike on 5.0.
Is that normal, should I wait (second or third time i charhed since the update), or should i look for another kernel maybe?
I rooted and have twrp, should i remove some apps? Already killed Mcafee.
Despite that the phone is fast.
Thank you!
i think its mm issue. every mm rom that i tried always has that bug. no matter what its( custom rom or stock mm). i am using miui 7 for now. waiting for that issue solved first.
---------- Post added at 07:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:52 AM ----------
and btw few days ago i flashed stock mm from autoprime. flashed with twrp and i think battery life is better than lollipop. i can get 6h sot easily. but theres overheat issue. idk if thats bug or our hardware created for that. jajaja
6 hours sound so great. I have 2 hours and 45 minutes and 32% left which is about 4 hours sot, but i use wifi only.
i also noticed that even if i close the apps via close all, settings says f.e. facebook is still running.
i will wait, maybe it just needs some time. i read a hungarian forum, everybody loves MM, but i feel bad about the heating problem.
Maybe LG changed throttling settings and this is the simple reason. Maybe it is ok with the hardware but i also read that a lot of people have battery issues (i have abrand new (couple weeks), original battery now).
Idle battery drain seems to be significant, on Fulmics it was close to zero.

Anyone having any freeze and black screen problem when resuming high end game like Asphalt Xtreme from recent apps ? Often facing this annoying issue..please respond..
not for me.. maybe u have too many apps and other crap hogging your memory space... does ur phone gets hot hot??? then maybeur cpu is throttling.
id clean up the phone. if not factory reset once. the whole process will take an hr or less depending on what you re install, but will give u a new phone

Don't know about other crap bt considering the ram most of the time my average usage is about 2-2.2 gig, i.e 10-12 apps running..and also I'm not getting any abnormal heating (mine stays at around 35°C) for which this annoying issue could occur..XDA examined that OP3 handles throttling very well amongst SD820 powered devices..maybe it's a software glitch ?
What ROM and kernel are you running? Any system modifications (like Xposed)?
I'm not having issues you're describing, the phone can even keep multiple demanding games in background and resume them normally.

Stock Official OOS 3.2.7 Kernel Version 3.18.20-pref+. Not rooted, i.e, no system modification. Mainly the problem's occurring after the game running in background for a long time
So fully stock ... I really don't know why this would happen :/
Can't do much without root, try factory reset or even fresh ROM installation (if you have time and nerves for it).
EDIT: maybe first try modifying build.prop file to keep more stuff in RAM (set that bg_apps value to 64 for example). Nothing to lose here, it might help.
If I remember correctly there's a way to do it via ADB without root. Google for a guide.

There is no problem keeping up to 20-23 apps in memory. But only apps. No games. And I'm facing this issue with Asphalt Xtreme only. I watched videos where same problems happening with Asphalt 8 and GTA SA when they are being fetched from ram. May be I should put my device into test with some heavy games keeping in background ?
It may be due to game then, if it's only one app that refuses to resume.
I've never personally tried GTA, but Asphalt 8 didn't cause issues. It stayed in RAM for hours and I was playing other high-end games in between.
The only game that constantly kept closing in background on my device is Riptide GP: Renegade. That one closed almost any time I opened another app. But it wasn't crashing or having black screens or sth like that, it just loaded up fresh when I tried to resume it.
Everything else that I tried resumes nicely after longer periods of time. For example: Real Racing 3, CSR Racing 1 & 2, and a bit less demanding games like Temple Run 2, Construction City, Atomas, card games ... pretty much anything.
I've only installed Asphalt Xtreme yesterday, haven't played much so can't yet say much about it. Will report in following days if I find anything interesting.

same here with Renegade. I checked again. Normal games are kept in memory with others apps with no problem. But for Asphalt Xtreme after long time in background it keeps showing black screen when resumed. I've to close it anyway. Will wait for your feedback on Asphalt Xtreme :good:

It seems that Asphalt Xtreme works well for me. Opened it sometime during yesterday afternoon, paused mid-race and continued to use the phone normally for the rest of the day. Tried resuming before I went to bed (~1AM) and it worked normally, instantly went back to where I left it. Paused again, checked mail and news, set alarm and left it over night. Now I'm using the device for 2 hours already, opened 10+ apps, did some updates while charging, quickly started a few other games and then tried resuming Asphalt again. Went right back into the race, no issues.
So ... I guess it's working here ?
