I've never had perfect audio latency on android but on my Moto G compared to my other devices the netflix lag seems significantly bad.
I am currently running latest netflix.
Is this a known issue or is there anything i can do to improve it?

It could be Netflix is too intensive for 4 A7's. I see you own a NV Shield, which has an amazing performance gap between the Moto G. You may need to wait for kitkat to fix speed issues, the S400 is an entry level chip.

That really doesn't make sense though, I mean every review says it handles Netflix just fine. I think OP probably needs to reinstall the app or clear data.

I started a similar thread because I'm experiencing the same issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587045
I'm running Kitkat and the audio and video is typically off by 1 second or so. I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling, downgrading to previous versions, and even switching from Dalvik to ART. This happens on both Wifi and 3G.
In settings - Sound - Audio Effects turn the switch off and try again, i wonder if it solves the problem?

I don't think this is the case. I used to watch Netflix on my Desire HD which has a single 1ghz core and the performance was great, as it is now on my Moto G.

Are you on 4.3 or 4.4? I've tried everything, including disabling all audio effects, and there is still a lag with Netflix on the G.
Something like that is happening here, but it is a Nexus 4 running 4.4.2
Audio seems to have little lags, shattering... it is not smooth.
and it runs great on my old optimus black.
and everyone i ask, they say it runs nice on their nexus 4 4.4.2 ...
this audio "lag" is really annoying... im not sure if i wait a netflix app update, or if i try to going back to 4.2.2 and see if it is working nice.
Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zdvdev.sef This app solved my problem of lag on Netflix on my Chinese tablet.
Hello, I just installed cm11 on my new g pad v500, and I'm experiencing small lags on YouTube videos for example, in Web browsing too. These are very small lags but it gives a really gives a strange effect. Back to stock LG rom, it's very fast and no more lags. Are you experiencing this kind of problems too? Maybe on Cmb or paranoid Android this won't be the case?
Thanks everyone for your answers and for the hard work to port kitkat on our tablets.
Hi,
before installing a custom Rom to my Sony Xperia Z1 compact I did a lot of googleing to figure out if there's a custom ROM that supports video output via MHL/HDMI. I only found threads saying that MHL is not supported by any ROM other than the stock firmware.
But today I made a different experience and wanted to share this. I tested some ROMs from CyanogenMod and Free Xperia. MHL output was actually working with:
- cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-amami.zip
- FXP-cm-11-20150301-UNOFFICIAL-amami.zip
So both ROMs based on kit kat worked. But I had to plug in the the connector several times and rebooted once before I actually saw an output. It's actually mirroring the screen to an external screen, also rotating as the phone is rotated. But picture was always orientated upright.
On a Dell FHD computer screen scaling was squeezed vertically, on a HD ready TV screen scaling was fine.
I also tested CM12 and CM12.1 but didn't get an output with the ROMs tested.
Would be great if others could also share their experience with MHL/HDMI with their custom ROMs.
Thanks
After a nasty 3-day brick, I got my Note II back up and running with Cyanide (Tablet style version, since I only use WiFi on this device), Shift and gapps all working, Netflix working. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR TIPS.
I use apps like Caustic for writing music on my Android devices. I record performances from an external MIDI keyboard over OTG. Under kitkat, latency was way to high to do this. Notes would sound long after I pressed a key on the keyboard. On my Note Pro 12.2, when I switched to CWM 12 (lollipop) from stock kitkat, the issue was fixed. I could set Caustic to use Open Sles with low latency and it worked great. My Note 4 came stock with lollipop and SAPA and it, too, works great with external MIDI.
I was hoping to get similar performance from the Note II, though I realize it has a slower CPU with only 4 cores. However I figured lollipop would be better than kikat. But once I finally got Cyanide installed, I'm still getting too much latency to use MIDI keyboards.
So I'm wondering about CM12.x.x for the Note II, and if the latency would be any better than Cyanide. Cyanide includes some audio enhancements built in, which, though they may enrich the sound quality for listening to music and videos, could be adding some latency with the additional processing. CW12 on my Note Pro is great for low latency audio, and is all around a "lighter" feeling ROM but I don't know if that's just the octacore processor of that device. I definitely noticed a huge difference between stock touchwiz kitkat and CW on the Note Pro. Cyanide actually seems a bit SLOWER than some of the debloated kitkat ROMs for Note II, but being kitkat, they don't have the low latency audio support of lollipop. (Even if the rest of the user experience seems faster)
Does anyone know anything about how Cyanide differs from CM12 in terms of audio processing? I would "just try it" and flash CW and see if it works...but after that multiple-day brick and all the steps to get it working and set up, I'm a little cautious about flashing stuff capriciously.
And since I also want to watch netflix... I realize netflix doesn't work on CW12 for Note II.... In the Cyanide thread's OP, it mentions flashing Shift, which enables netflix (and sure enough works on my Note II). I searched the CW12 thread but couldn't find anything that indicated if I could flash Shift (and which version) to get netflix working on CM12.
Hello friends,
