[Q] Chances of Wifi calling on GPE converted One's? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if anyone with more knowledge of these things knows the possibility of getting wifi calling on our M8's running stock roms. There's news of the Nexus 6 over on T-Mobile getting wifi calling activated with the new 5.1.1 update. I have a T-mobile HTC One that I've since flashed skydragon stock rom on (fav rom so far) but the ONE thing I miss about Sense roms is the wifi calling feature. It isn't always necessary but those times that you do have it you're grateful that it's there (in the basement of a house, or in locations where T-mobile's network coverage is weak).
SO again, anyone here know whether that code introduced in 5.1.1 to allow wifi calling on a stock lollipop device on the magenta network will make an appearance on 5.1.1 roms?
DISCUSS! (And thanks)

doesnt hangouts dialer do the same thing?

Can you receive phone calls made to your cellular number on hangouts dialer?

wifi calling question
I'm also very interested in this WiFi calling is the only reason I don't have stock android right now.

yes, but I believe you'd need to setup/activate google voice and port the number over first.

[Q] Do any ROMs include native SIP calling?

Other than the alpha CM7--I ran that for a while but really need Wifi calling as well.
According to the posts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379524 it looks like the SIP stack is still in place but that Samsung just crippled the settings menu options. It would be fantastic if all it took to restore the SIP calling features was to add back the menu items for setting up the accounts! I have no idea if that is something that is doable or not.
On my MT4G there were a number of ROMs, CM7 and Sense-based, that supported both Wifi Calling as well as SIP calling and I am really missing this ability.
No one else uses this awesome capability?

Which app would you use? Since many ROMs already do WiFi calling, not sure there's a need for SIP calling. Or maybe I misunderstood the question?
Not an app, the native SIP calling built into Gingerbread. It's there in CM7 and it was there on my MT4G on multiple ROM's, along with Wifi calling.
Wifi calling is great if (a) you are using your T-Mo SIM and (b) you are calling the US. For example, my territory is Asia, so I have a VOIP service I use in Singapore and need to be able to connect to it while in the US so that I can call there cheaply. Right now I fall back to Google Voice, but that doesn't give the proper caller ID, etc.
Then, when I travel I put in a local SIM, so Wifi calling doesn't work anymore. So, I need to connect to a VOIP service in the US in order to call home cheaply.
Wifi calling and SIP calling are not mutually exclusive, but work well in tandem. Right now I still travel with my MT4G in order to do this, but it's on its last legs and needs to be retired quickly!

Very interesting. Didn't realize that was available in other Android builds. Sounds like it would be good to have if you were international.
Curious, though, aren't international data rates really high?

Not when using a local SIM. In Singapore 500Mb is about $12 and a month to use it in. That's actually plenty for me when I'm out as I have it on Wifi when in my hotel.

SIP native calling included into stock ROM of SGS2 i9100 (international version)
Native SIP client
I am also looking for NAtive SIP Client but I can't find anyway to include it... I tried all the MODs available and only CM7 gave me the ability to use Native SIP Client...
I am back to Stock ROM but still trying to find a way to include Internet Calling Menu under Call Settings...
Earlier this week I noticed that the Paradox ROM mentioned that they re-enabled the SIP Settings in their ROM. I haven't tried it yet as it was mentioned that they would be releasing an update by this weekend, so I will probably download and try that ROM out this weekend. I hope that SIP is working properly as it is a major pain for me without it. I keep my old Vibrant around just for SIP.

If your phone is a Tmobile SM-G900T S5 model it already has Wifi Calliing
unless you have flashed a non Tmobile SM-G900T S5 rom.
There are NO apps at the playstore which enable wifi-calling.
The only way to have wifi calling is to have a Tmobile SM-G900T S5
phone with either Tmobile SM-G900T S5 4.4.2 stock rom or Tmobile
S5 SM-G900T custom 4.4.2 Kitkat based roms.
Any other roms will not have wifi calling.
Good luck!

You have not revealed your phone's model yet.
But none of the ported roms have or are compatible with wifi calling
and none of them have wifi calling ability.
If your phone is NOT a Tmobile phone it will never have working wifi
calling regardless what roms, ported roms or modifications you make.
Good luck!

Both the S5 and the Note 3 have wifi calling ability as
long as you use stock or stock based custom roms.
There is no need to modify, add or change any files.
If you are trying to use a ported/modified S5 rom
in your Note 3 the wifi calling feature will not work.
Modifying, changing or adding files will not make
the wifi calling work on any ported/modified roms
of any kind.
And that's all there is to it! LOL
OK check out this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696134&page=80 they have WiFi calling working on s5 port sprint how come it can't be done for t-mobile? Can someone one post the WiFi calling files or let me know all the required files so I can work on this thanks...

Yes, I checked it out and the reason it has wifi calling is because SPRINT added that feature
for the Sprint branded Galaxy Note 3 and soon for the Sprint branded Galaxy S5.
Regardless of the fact that SPRINT recently added wifi calling to their phones it does not mean
that the SPRINT wifi calling can be ported to other brands and or models of phones.
It has nothing to do with Tmobile, Tmobile phones already have wifi calling if you use a
Tmobile branded S5 or Note 3 and a Tmobile NB4/NE6 based stock or custom rom and
an active Tmobile sim card.
None of the PORTED or AOSP roms will have wifi calling if you don't have a Tmobile
branded phone and don't use the NB4/NE6 N900T based custom or stock roms.
Ok check pics got everything like it should look my only problem is check the pics is t-mobile s5 sim card different from the t-mobile note 3? Any ideas i can connect to wifi no data my imei goes away airplane mode turns on every boot baseband is blank all this happens when i switch telephony-common.jar when i go back to original my signal..im sure i dont know what im talking about but any help is appreciated

Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.

Phone Not Receiving Calls - Help Is Appreciated

I have an AT&T HTC One M8 flashed with Dirty Unicorns Official v9.6, running on Android 5.1.1. The ROM has been good to me, other than this problem I am facing where I can not receive calls. I can turn off LTE data and receive calls, but I cannot receive calls with LTE data on. I can send text messages, receive MMS messages, make outgoing calls, and I can technically receive phone calls, if I'm already in a call. I know this most likely has to do with the AT&T side of the problem, but I was curious what I would tell AT&T to get this resolved. Thank you for any input anyone has!
This is related to AT&T's particular implementation of Voice over LTE (which they call "HD Voice") not playing well with most custom ROMs (anything not based on the AT&T ROM, basically).

Volte Not working... Not switching to 4g for incoming calls. Help!

I've about had it with this phone internationally unlocked HTC 10 here originally had Oreo on it I downgraded back to nougat properly with the 2.51 latest firmware and now Sim is working on nougat but any AOSP ROM I use voice over LTE never works. I don't absolutely need voice over LTE to work but my phone does not always switch the connection to 4G to receive incoming calls either sometimes it would just stay on LTE and then the caller will be pushed to voicemail immediately. I can make calls from my phone fine but receiving has been a huge problem. I even tried the leedroid nougat ROM and it is doing the same thing as I thought it was an AOSP problem but that can't be the case as it possibly something with my firmware? I just want this headache to go away and receive my calls properly again! Any help will be greatly appreciated
Carrier is tmobile
So I've discovered that volte does not work with AOSP ROMs but it seems when I get a call the LTE does not go down to 4G to let the call be received is there anything I can do
