Hello everyone,
I have just updated my At&t Galaxy note 4 to lollipop a couple of weeks ago and I have lost the ability to skip tracks from my Pioneer DEH-P8400BH car stereo, while connected through Bluetooth to my note 4. I have tried with the stock music player and Playerpro and nothing happens when I skip a track back or forward. I don’t have any lock screen software and I have a Gear 2 always connected to my phone that can skip tracks without issues.
Please I need some help, it’s very annoying and not to mention dangerous to deal with my phone while I am driving.
Thanks,
I use google music and I have never had that problem. I use my steering wheel controls and can skip tracks without a problem. If you created that Bluetooth connection before the LP update, I would unpair the devices and re-pair them. If that doesn't work, consider a factory reset if you haven't already. Many people fixed lots of problems after the update by doing a factory reset.
This is a new LP Bluetooth music issue that I've never heard of. Just a suggestion:
If your Pioneer has updatable firmware (if it's aftermarket, it might. You didn't specify whether it was stock or aftermarket), then make sure it's updated. Otherwise report the problem to Pioneer.

It's probably a Pioneer firmware issue. I have two cars, one has an AVIC X930bt in it and the other is a Lexus with factory stereo. On the Lexus, everything has been smooth sailing but on the t-bird with the Pioneer after market, I noticed it no longer works to change spotify songs using the head unit as I could before.
I also have the issue with my Pioneer stereo in my car...
I have updated my car stereo and that fixed my problem.
Thanks for the tip.

I have a LG Nitro HD running on AT&T. The phone came pre-loaded with 2.3.5. The bluetooth phone part works as I can make and receive calls with my car (Suzuki Kizoshi 2010), but the audio over bluetooth doesn't work. The phone part works as I can make and receive calls. This is very important for me to be able to play the audio over bluetooth as I have a long commute to work and like to listen to my music. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
It's been about a month and still no solution. Has anyone else come across this problem?
I do not have this problem. I have a Pioneer X930BT headunit in my car and my Nitro streams audio over bluetooth (A2DP) to it perfectly as well as phone calls.
Have you tried streaming Sirius or spotify over bluetooth? I found that the only app on the phone that streams audio to my car correctly is the pre-installed audio app that comes with the phone.
I can confirm google music and napster stream great over bluetooth. I have not used spotify or sirius for android.
Are you sure your car supports audio profile?
I stream spotify, tunein radio every day through bluetooth.
Spotify actually pauses when bluetooth connection is lost which is great for getting out of the car. I wish TuneIn would do it.

I have had the same problem with my nitro, it will automatically connect the phone but the media (A2DP) seems to drop automatically after connection. I've found if I manually re-connect to the receiver both will stay connected.
(settings > Wireless & Network > Bluetooth settings > *tap device name*)
I, like you, use it every time I'm in the car so it's annoying but it's a fix until there is a valid solution like a update or properly built rom.
In your case I would delete all the phone profiles from the car memory and re pair them. A lot of cars have a seperate a2dp profile for streaming music and if you pair them seperately the car stereo thinks that it needs to be paired only with the cell phone while the phone says that is paired with phone and audio.
It is not a LG Nitro 4g issue. Updates/firmware would not fix it.

That seems to be your problem JoTomlin and Kaiser. Before I installed my new headunit in my subaru I had tons of issues with my captivate playing music over bluetooth because the car had seperate profiles for A2DP and handsfree. When I got my new headunit which has a single profile containing both A2DP and handsfree it all worked without headache on the captivate and now the nitro. This is a problem with your car stereo. If its anything like my subarus, it would prefer to connect to handsfree and it would have to physically disconnect handsfree to connect A2DP (I would have to manually connect via the bluetooth menu). I solved it by getting a tunelink bluetooth audio receiver so handsfree would connect to the stereo and to the tunelink at the same time. Eventually I got tired of that and bought a new headunit.
Apparently a lot of people have swapped out their factory Kizashi factory head units for something better. But again, you'll want to bug Suzuki about something like this.
FWIW, I can stream Pandora just fine over a VW headunit with factory bluetooth. I do have to sometimes to a reconnect/pair though.
Has anyone figured out this issue? I stopped using my Nitro for about 5 months and then just recently updated it with 4.0.4, but still have the audio issue. My Samsung Galaxy SII doesn't have this issue. It's frustrating because I really like the Nitro. The Bluetooth audio is a huge issue though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I have to unpair and repair my Bluetooth headset every single time I use it. (phone audio only). Looks like Samsung really borked up BT.
Thinking about upgrading to MDL this weekend to see if that fixes it.
i dont know about bluetooth with car, but i listen to my bluetooth headphones every day at work for hours and i have had no probs whatsoever with my bluetooth. it paired really easy like too easy and that was it.
I guess thanks for the fact that at least it works manually so in my case its a 100% software issue.
I'm having no issues with phone or media when hooked up to my car.

I have the same problem with my Denon aftermarket head unit.
My Motorola BT headset pairs ok, but the quality of the audio is so bad to my callers I can't use it. On my S3 it sounded fine. I had to switch to a different headset that's giant and stupid.

have a jabra headset and its paired excellently 100% of the time
Had minor issues (device based) when it was "paired" to 2 devices.
Use Bluetooth Auto Connect from play store. I was having the same problem except mine connected on to media instead of phone. That app fixed it right up.
Mine will drop connection intermittently to my VW RNS-315 head unit and also drop connection to my Jawbone Icon HD. When it drops the Jawbone I often see a message on the screen that says Bluetooth Sharing has crashed. Not sure if this is as a result of the rooting process or if it's a glitch in the latest firmware. Hoping Samsung will fix and T-Mo will release patch soon.
Have yet to have an issue here with my S4 and my JVC Arsenel (Dont remember which model #, was one of the higher single DIN units a year ago though), use it daily and it connects on its own without issue / hassel both phone and media
I experience the same phone only problem with my Ford Sync system, I have to manually check Media audio, but it pairs both the first tube after unpairing. I'll try the Play Store app and report back today. I will say is nice to see voice control over bluetooth has been fixed in Jelly Bean.
UPDATE: Bluetooth Auto Connect (The first one listed in a Play Store search by Jakub Klos) works flawlessly to connect Phone and Media audio. Thanks @Sym_Link!
No problems with bluetooth here, my Pioneer radio in my Grand Marquis, both audio and phone sync flawlessly. However, my Sony unit in the Saturn, will sync the phone no problem, but I still have to manually check the box to sync with audio.
My experience w/ BT audio has been variable. I have an aftermarket head unit installed on a '05 Acura RSX (JVC-NSX1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/p_105NSX1/JVC-KW-NSX1.html).
Note: my headunit also utilizes MirrorLink...which is just flippin' awesome.
BT Media audio seems to be very app dependent. I use Grooveshark and Play Music for my day to day listening, and I find that my Grooveshark will auto-play when BT Connects but if I'm going from a fresh power cycle of my automobile to Google Play I have to start the app on my phone prior to accessing the in-dash controls on my head unit.
Other times I can just select in dash controls and it will play Play Music.
Ironically, since the iOS 6.0 update plugging in the GF's iPhone no longer plays audio (freaking Apple). So if she wants to stream media it's only available over BT. Ah, progress!
Ok, so here's the deal. I have a rooted T-mo G3 (D851) on a stock rom, out of the box it's been awesome to use with my Pioneer AVH-X2600BT head unit in my scooby. I was messing around with themes a short while ago and then the bluetooth stopped working intermittently. From what I can tell the mix-rate of the A2DP stream changes from 44k to 3hz and all you hear are beeps at multiple amplitudes. The beeps are playing out of the buffer in the head unit until it empties then it resets the connection to the phone. It still plays out these beeps until it's empty even if I disconnect the phone from the head unit.
I don't have this problem with two other iPhones. And previous to my screwing around, it'd work flawlessly since a bought it (launch day.)
Could I have screwed up a mixrate setting someplace? I do have a custom mixer xml for boosting headphone port and speaker audio but I never touched the settings for the bluetooth driver.
This behavior is intermittent and it matters very little what content I'm playing through it. I do notice that when this is happening, no metadata or control is capable through AVRCP either. (i.e. Pandora app can't connect to the phone, no album art, etc)
Sometimes it'll stop doing it and play normally for the rest of the session (drive) after a few minutes and everything is normal. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all and sometimes I can't get it work normally at all.
Here's a video showing the behavior:

Reset your Bluetooth on your headunit and pair it again with all your bluetooth devices.
I had a similar problem with my LG G3 and my Pioneer AVH-8500 where my Pioneer will not recognize my LG G3 anymore but recognizes my Note 3.
I fixed the problem by resetting my Bluetooth on my Pioneer and had to pair all my devices back to it again.
You will have to look into your Pioneer manual on how to reset your bluetooth.
Edit: I just remembered something.
Did you happen to update or change your firmware.
Some KitKat firmwares are missing the Bluetooth Metadata and will not function properly.
Use autoaudio download it from playstore. This fixes my problem on metadata
Hey thanks guys.
I reflashed the bt radio in my head unit and the problem so far has seemed to go away. Metadata and everything works again.
I appreciate the heads up from another pioneer user.

How exactly did you reflash the bt radio? I have the same head unit and am having problems with it dropping the bt connection to my G3
I just got forced to upgrade my LG G3 to Android 5.0 and it completely screwed up my Bluetooth audio connection in my car.
Bluetooth sync to home audio playback is fine, but BTooth audio is completely corrupted with the Pioneer AVH-X2600BT.
I cant find the instructions on how to reflash my stereo firmware to reset bluetooth settings. I cleared my bluetooth devices in the stereo setup, but to no avail. Can you point me to instructions on a reflash?
I am having the same issue. I have 2 other bluetooth devices that my G3 will connect to and playback is fine for as long as I have battery life. But when connected to my Pioneer AVH-x2600bt, I get constant skipping after 2 minutes of playback. I can pause it for a couple of minutes and when I start playing again it's fine for another 2 minutes. I have done a hard reset on the Pioneer and reconnected my G3 but no change. I have unpaired and cleared all of the bluetooth data in my phone and reconnected, no change. All of the Kit Kat OS devices I have still work fine with the Pioneer but none of the Lollipop devices work. I emailed Pioneer, their reply was for me to take my deck to a service center. That will do no good. One of two things needs to happen, Google needs to update their bluetooth firmware or Pioneer needs to update the firmware for the AVH-x2600bt. Until one of those two things happen I guess I'll be using stone age technology, an auxiliary cable.
Thank you, that is all.
Hello
I can't sent the music to my car radio according to the version of Android. In version 5.0 with different kernel that doesn't work, and with 5.1.1 (blisspop) it works. I 'm preferred the custom rom because I like some features. Someone have a solution or an explanation of why?
I had the HTC One M8 before this phone and when I played a song via bluetooth in my car, the song info would show on my car display. Now, when I play a song using my Note, it doesn't show any data anymore. Is there a setting I need to activate to show bluetooth metadata or does the Note just not support that? I'm using Spotify btw.
I have the Sony Bluetooth adapter for my headphones and it shows the metadata just fine.
I'm not getting metadata displayed on the Pioneer Z150 in my car, but when I paired it up in my sister in law's Buick Enclave, it works. I can't find any settings in the phone, and Poweramp, my media player, has all of its settings correct.
Mine works fine. Show all it's data. Pandora, even shows the album cover
Yesterday I paired with a Kia rental I was using while my truck was being serviced. The phone displayed a message that Kia wanted to access information on my device when I paired the two. I declined the request and no data displayed. I imagine the data would have displayed had I accepted the request.
Unpair the phone and try again. If the information request pops up, accept it. Maybe that will solve your issue.

I have a q50 and had the same issue. it was hell... I have gotten so spoiled by seeing the info on dash. Anyway, I spent some time playing with the settings and found these work in poweramp.
I'm not sure if album art works with this configuration... I could never get it working on note 3, either...I think it's a limitation of the q...
Edit: These settings are in power amp under bluetooth. I believe the sony 3 setting is the one that fixed it, however It did NOT immediately fix it. Skipping forward/back from device or head unit didn't make any difference. There's no real details on the page of how they work All i know is I ran through the settings, got to 3, it didn't work... got into and out of the car a few times through regular use...and it worked... its been working all weekend.

I'll be giving this a shot... but I can't imagine that I should have to do this. I'm not getting tag data from any Bluetooth streaming source... Sonza, Pandora, Samsung music player or Poweramp.
I highly doubt those settings will fix anything except poweramp... For me this is a complete fix, as I use it exclusively

I see allot of people with the metadata not showing issue as well as my self with the Note 4. Had no problem with my Note 3. I have a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3. Hoping for a fix.
The Note4 has a newer Bluetooth stack, 4.1, which has an updated AVRCP profile. (Audio Video Remote Control Protocol). My the steering wheel controls on my 2013 car worked fine in PocketCasts to skip tracks, Pause/FF/Rewind on the Note3, but now nothing works with the Note4.
I've done a bit of searching around on it, and it seems maybe a firmware update for the car's audio system (Mark Levinson) could resolve, I have an email into my service rep....
Following up from my previous fix... It worked solid for a week or two... Then decided to stop working right... Now it works for a couple days, and doesn't work for a couple days
Since the Android 5.x update on my Note 3 and now the Note 7 Samsung did something to jack up the blue tooth stereo controls (so If I use apps like Media Monkey or Power Amp) that when connected to the car stereo, I cannot use the car stereo to forward, go back, etc through the songs in the play list.
Is there a fix for this, that probably is my biggest issue, I don't want to have to pick up the phone every time I want to change songs over blue tooth. Gotta keep eyes on the road......
I'm not sure how you're connecting. I have an Infiniti and I don't seem to be suffering this issue. It's compatible whether I do this through the phone or through my car's controls.
Works fine for me too. Using an aftermarket kenwood 419 head unit

I am using a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X998. When the Note 3 came out with Android 4.x and connected to the head unit over bluetooth the album, song title, artist, etc call came over from the mp3 or flac files on the phone and I could use the kenwood back and forward buttons to move through the music on the phone. It stopped working when Android 5.x was pushed out to the phone. I talked to Kenwood about it and they said that they were not aware (but they are now they are aware of the fact that Samsung did something), like made their own new commands to send the information over blue tooth that were not part of the stock android os and that is why compatibility was lost.
I just want my text and controls back.

On my 2013 Kia optima w/ navi I do not get media audio so only BT that works is the phone. It will show the first song sometimes on pandora but never will update after that. All audio always comes from phone. I can change songs from the stereo but that's it. Totally useless. Works fine in my other cars and my BT radio in my garage so it's a problem w/ my Kia but WTF?? My note 3 and a note 5 work just fine. Very disappointing.

I have a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT head unit, which worked fine with my Nexus 6p, GS5, Sony Z3....but only receives audio from my Note 7, no Music Info or Control over next/previous song.
It kind of sucks, but I'm loving the phone...

Note 3, edge and this N7 have all played nicely with the car, admittedly it's pretty basic OEM BT integration. Vehicle can control the phone no worries, though.
The only time I have this problem is when my smartwatch tries to take over the controls.
