Hello All,
In order to keep our forums neat and tidy can we please make sure ALL Questions go in the Q&A sub forum HERE
We are all very busy and our time could be better spent than having to move threads, some members are under the Impression that because their Question is App or theme related that it belongs here, this is not the case, ALL Questions regardless of the subject belong in Q&A.. If your thread starts with [Q] or (?) then please post in the above link.
Questions in Themes and Apps maybe moved, locked or even deleted without warning !
Thank you for your time :good:

Can anyone explain to me the new policies started in the new Q&A section?
Has anyone seen this? Apparently, you have to jump through hoops to open a new thread in the new Questions and Answers section.
From RULES - Must Read Before Posting Sticky in Q&A
ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE POSTED IN SEPERATE THREADS. IF YOU WISH TO OPEN A NEW THREAD FOR YOUR QUESTION, PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING: If you wish to open a thread, you must PM me with the name of your thread, and the page number where it is located. IF YOU OPEN A THREAD, AND DO NOT SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO TWEAKMAN, YOUR THREAD WILL BE DELETED. There will be no exception to this. You must send the message to have your thread open!!!
ANY NEW THREAD, NOT OPENED BY A MODERATOR WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDITALEY: If you have a question you would like posted, you will not be turned away. This is only done to ensure that your question doesn't become lost in the pages as this section grows.
TO SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO REQUEST YOUR THREAD DO THE FOLLOWING:
1:GO TO THE TOP LEFT SIDE OF THIS POST AND CLICK ON USER NAME "TWEAKMAN"
2:ONCE ON THE NEW PAGE, GO TO CONTACT INFO
3:SELECT THE OPTION TO SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE (NO OTHER FORM OF MESSAGE WILL BE ACCEPTED)
4:INCLUDE ONLY YOUR QUESTION
5:YOUR DONE!! YOUR QUESTION WILL BE POSTED IN A NEW THREAD FOR FURTHER HELP AND DISCUSSION!

I can think of three really good reasons not to do this:
Nobody reads the stickies.
Especially newcomers to the forum. People are just going to post new threads and wonder why they keep getting deleted.
It isn't very convenient.
What happens if I have a problem when Tweakman is asleep? Or on the toilet? I really feel sorry for that guy if he is going to have to publish every question anyone asks.
It is unnecessarily difficult.
The creation of this section was to help the Development and Hacking section get rid of general question posts. But if it is easier to make a new post in Development and Hacking, then people are just going to keep on doing that. Like this guy.
And then there is this:
ALL NEW QUESTIONS WILL BE REMOVED AFTER 7 DAYS: Once a thread is opened with your question, it will be left standing for a total of 7 (seven) days. If your question has not been answered at that time, you may repost your question as many times as needed. Again, this is to ensure that your question doesn't become lost in the pages as this section grows.

I don't get this either. What's wrong with the system as it is? Why can't we just leave the questions so that people can search for answers before they post? (Okay, granted most newcomers don't search either, but some do.) If people aren't getting answers, they can just bump their thread.
Am I wrong?
I agree, great intentions, but the whole idea is poorly conceived, just like the original thread in Development and hacking...nothing got answered, and if it did, how do you navigate to it to find it? Is anyone going to dig through this crap to answer someone else's question. I think not.
Give it time.
The kinks will be worked out.
Don't be so negative.
it will be open for all to post soon...... they are working on a team to keep the thread organized once fully opened

Sounds good. I hope lots of people pitch-in to help.
Q&a Section Now Open For All To Post
Is it possible to delete old threads if so how? thanks
Only moderators can delete threads.
Moved to About XDA section.
If you need a thread to be closed, you will need to contact your FSM (forum specific fomerator) and ask them to close the thread for you. As for deleting a thread, i think a moderator would rather close the thread, as someone else searching for an answer to a question might find the answer in your thread, stopping the need for that member opening a new thread to ask their question.
Exactly
I was the same problem. Thanks for your guidance.
It is a bit of a bummer as to why you cannot delete posts and threads of your own but you can see why it is necessary for that permission to only be given to a MOD.
But the REPORT button could be seen as the close button.

I see you're new around here. Two things, this is a development forum and questions should probably go to the General section or the specific ROM's thread. You'll find people get pretty cranky around here when newcomers start opening threads for questions like these. Also, acquaint yourself with the 'search' button. You'll probably hear a lot about that too.

Hey guys!
I've been assigned as one of the moderators for the Galaxy Nexus forum, along with andyharney, 'cooleagle', efrant, Step666, The-Hulk, veyka, and our illustrious leader, TheDeadCPU.
Just a few things to keep in mind:
Please have a quick look at the Forum Rules whenever you get a chance.
Please treat other members how you would like to be treated. If you notice a post that is abusive, inappropriate or off-topic, please just report it without adding a comment in the thread -- it just adds to the spam.
For the Development teams to thrive, the development section needs to stay clean and tidy. Please make sure you post in the correct sections, and give us the heads-up if you see anything out-of-place, abusive, condoning warez etc.
Only work that you created goes in the Development section. If you did not create it, it goes in General, not Development.
Reference, tutorials and how-to's belong in the General Section.
All questions belong in the Q & A Section, not in General or Development.
Do not create placeholder threads (including placeholder threads for ROMs, radios, guides, updates, tweaks, etc.).
Please no 'for sale' threads in ANY section.
If you see any thread that is in the wrong section, please don't hesitate to click the report button.
Feel free to message any one of us if you have any questions, comments, or issues pertaining to this forum.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Learn, share your knowledge, and have fun!
I'd love if someone developed a smallapp that turns on the flash led. I think it would be really useful and easy to make.
Man, I wish I was able to code for android, but I'm too lazy to learn :crying:
Why don't you search on PlayStore?

I guess that your love for the app has blinded you
You posted a question in the general section and not the Q&A like the XDA rules say you should.
And yes, asking someone to do or make something is a question.
I also agree that a fast search of the play store will turn up several torch apps. The rules also say to search your question before posting.
These are the XDA forum rules that you violated.
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements relating to your device.
Q&A Forums - For all question threads / posts. If there is no Q&A forum use the device General Forum
For the full set of the XDA rules please bookmark the link in my signature called "READ THE XDA RULES"
Thank you for understanding reported for mod moving
Uhh...
I wasn't asking for a "small torch app", but for someone to make a SmallApp that enables the torch. You know, sometimes it's useful to turn on the torch without having to leave the app you're in, and that's the point of Small Apps. That would really be useful, I think.
Of course I know there are over 9000 torch apps in the market (I'm not that disconnected from reality yet), but I was asking for someone to make a torch SmallApp, because there isn't one yet.
And I thought requests went in General because I saw a couple of [request] threads in there, but if I was wrong, I apologize.
Technicaly a request is a question and should be in Q&A. Its up to the mods to move it if needed.
Sorry I miss read the post.
You might want to find a small apps mod thread in the themes & apps and ask there.
You should get a better response there from small app users.
Good luck
