[Q] T800 CyanogenMod support for 12.1 - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been eyeing the T800 and now the prices are dropping even more. However, I want a nice AOSP ROM for it, and it looks like there is one for the T700, but not for the bigger screen. Is that really true? Isn't there an AOSP of Android 5.1 for the 10.5 incher? If I get the smaller (8.4) tablet, what am I giving up?

We have CM 12.1 for the T800. Its an unofficial build but its buggy free and functions the same as the T700. We also have resurrection remix, PAC ROM for the T800 too. The T800 isn't getting nightlies but its constantly getting updates by lionheart. Hope this helps!

That is very helpful SKILLZ, what is the platform moniker for the T800? Where can I find the build tread?

Should I stick with 4.3 or move on to 4.4?

Hey there, I'm currently running the Cataclysm ROM on my Galaxy Nexus, and I'm super happy with it. But I was thinking of moving to CM 11 (not sure if official or unofficial).
How is it in terms of stability, bugs, speed, battery life, etc, compared to 4.3?
The 4.4.2 cm11 rom its very stable now, i recomend you to upgrade to KitKat now, works fine and fast, and so beauty
Sorry my english

CM11 with ART is fantastic, but you'll have to make up your own mind on battery life.

What do you mean? Is battery life worse on 4.4?
I highly recommend PlayfulGod's unofficial CM11 build. Battery life is great (almost 3 hours screen on time with undervolt and mpokang kernel) and it is stable enough to use as a daily driver. It has made my Galaxy Nexus faster than ever

I'm curious about this too. I just flashed 4.4 Slimkat and battery life seemed to be worse, but I thought it was because I was playing more with it.

You pretty much nailed it on the head. The more you do the worse battery is. Its that simple. Battery life isnt the same for everyone since everyone uses their phones differently.
imho Android 4.4 is the best update since 4.0.
The new RAM management is awesome and makes my GNexus run like on the first day
CM11 is pretty stable, too.
It's too bad that many developers leaving the GNexus and move on, because I'm still missing some features (like HOLO, Active Display, ...)
And it's a shame that Google isn't updating the stock rom, because like I said, the GNexus is running way better with 4.4 than it was with 4.3.
I made a change to 4.4.2 CM11 and it is really awesome! Transition is very simple compared to HTC Sensation. It works great !

Favorite ROMS ?

Been trying builds using the 3.4 kernel for a few different ROMS:
Validus : Success
Dirty Unicorns : Success
Mokee : Success
Carbon : Success
Nameless Rom : No luck
Pac-Rom : Success
Any other roms people are interested in ?

Thanks for your time! You have ported so many roms for our device!
A 3.4 kernel was one of the things I was hoping to come out ever since I got my Nitro HD. This kernel gives us the chance to stay up to date with all new features and even though kitkat could run with older versions, it would not be optimized.
Currently I am using miroslav's rom, which I believe in the final version is...final. The phone is so smooth and snappy. Anyhow I have never used any themes or complicated eye candy and if I wanted to be completely honest, the only thing that is annoying me in this rom is that heart pulse measurement apps are not working which is no big deal.
I would be inclined to try dirty unicorns again, only because of HALO, but I do not think it is up to par performance wise with Miroslav's latest version. Will need to find a couple of free hours to do that, which seems harder and harder as I am getting older, having two jobs etc...
The floor is set now to wait for Android L. KitKat is currently a daily runner in many flavors for the Nitro, let's hope you will have the time and mood to prepare some Android L roms soon!
Rom with performance like miroslav sphinx port . Every kitkat build for lg nitro hd just wont cop up with me and my nitro because of it general ui lag that affect even to the app even if the apps loading is faster than previous build .Miroslav's 3.4.0 kernel is great but you know even if the kernel suppose to make the device faster, less memory usage and improved battery also much faster but if the ui framework is laggy and not tweaked the kernel will still not do much. Hope you can build a rom with much more smoother ui. Thanks for all your hard work
Are you using the Stock launcher LG from LG G2 (4.4) which is included in Miroslav's rom? I think it helps in comparison with trebuchet.
Also have you tried enabling ART over Dalvik? This will make everything much better and closer to what you are looking. Problem is there are still apps that do not support it. For example the stock launcher from the LG G2 is not compatible (default trebuchet is ok). What made me forget about ART for the time being is that IGO (gps navigation) app I use is not compatible and I need it more than a bit faster phone.

Okay, let's see,
Validus : For me is the best, smoother than (miroslav which is my 2nd choice), only problem is some translation problems (in the lock screen everything is on portuguese except for the battery status), and the battery at beggining it was terrible(the phone was not deepsleeping but it eventualy got back to normal) and now in the end of the day i always have +50%
Dirty Unicorns : I really like it but my battery was draining too fast (tried for 5 days).
Mokee : Too many bugs for me :/
Carbon : Same translation problems like validus but not as smooth.
Nameless Rom : I think there's no version for our phone.
Pac-Rom : I liked the features but bad battery and no smoothness
Like @Mr.201 said, sphinx would be great, but there's no source tree for the rom :/
I mean no disrespect for the devs that made our KK builds, the only thing i can say to them is THANKS A LOT
What about slim kat? i'm on lordsheeto's slim beam and for me is the most stable in 4.2.2. Slimkat has a lot of good features!
and one question, how can i avoid the LG logo? everytime i open a app it's still appaering!

Have used cm10.2 for quite some time, but started to get daily lockdowns on waking up the phone. Tried HO!NO! P930 V20f last week and haven't had one lockdown yet. Its Android 4.0.4 as opposed to 10.2 which is 4.2 but I am sticking with it. Its ironic - before I tried cm releases the phone had a LG update which gave me 4.0.4....but when cm10 and cm11 was in I had the joy of trying newer versions ..but now back to 4.0.4 again lol.
Maybe this phone simply performs best with that version, I don't know. Or best with HO!NO!

Rom

I want this thread to be about your current rom and why you chose it. What features do you look for in your rom.
With that being said; currently I'm on CM11 builds of opportunity.
I like the smoothness and how it looks. Ive been a fan ever since cm7 came out.

I am running Resurrection Remix 6.0.1 with CM12 Builds. Resurrection Remix is absolutely flawless so far. The only problem I have is that the phone now claims its a gt-n7105 but still has t889 Baseband. I have no idea how to change that. I need baseband for use in the Philippines as that is where I now live

What is the best pure ROM for the T800?

Title says it all.
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Not sure what you mean by pure rom. All Roms are pure. If your looking for stock based than IronRom or TWDetox are both really good. If your looking for AOSP then I think Liquidsmooth is at the top myself.
Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
There is no such thing as best rom, it depends on your needs, I also find it a little disrespectful to other developers to ask or answer such a question to say xxx is the best rom.
However if the question was what would you recommend based on experience then that would be a fair question.
Just flash every rom look what your looking for then keep it like me

That's exactly what I do to. Tried almost everything in these forums so far and found "my best" rom on this device...
Personally I like a stock deodex rom which I can then modify to my liking using xposed and debloating.
I use my own kernel which is stable.
At the moment my preference is Sweetrom and the latest Ironrom. Sweetrom is great because it's deodex, pretty stock with some extra features and has optional mods.
Why is everyone taking my question so personally? I only asked the question because I tried liquidsmooth for the T800 and the wifi was broken so I'm looking for one that is stable and not broken. I was trying to not throw liquidsmooth under the bus by my original question, but I guess I have to now to get opinions on what people are using and liking.

Pick the first nightly for liquid smooth, not the latest. The first one works smooth with no issues. Deadman (liquid smooth dev) hasn't had time to redo liquid smooth since he has other devices to work on. The first nightly for T800 works fine with no WiFi issues as I had it on a few weeks ago
For the most minimal or close to stock, I prefer SlimLP.
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
So I see two nightlies for liquidsmooth, 6-17 and 6-20. You are saying I should go with the earlier one?

Looking for a ROM across Tab S and OPO?

It looks like Blissrom is slowly dying across OPO and Tab S so I'm looking for a new ROM I can install across both devices, mainly for consistency.
Resurrection, Temasek, and AICP have been recommended for the OPO.
I was wondering if the kind folks in the Samsung Tab S forum have any advice or suggestions.
Thank you!
I'm using on my Tab S 10.5 the Iron Rom 2.4.1 and Iron Kernel it works fine for me! Sorry for the bad English.

PAC ROM by hiwoa! It just got updated a few days ago and is running fine for me! Heat issues are fixed and is smooth for the most part (some animations seem weird). The customization features are great.
I'd also prefer slimLP. I have never had any issues with that ROM and is just the same as PAC ROM but with slimmed down things (features).
Those are the ones I'd recommend over if you don't want Cm12

Thank you, I was looking at Pac Man too because @hiowa93 who used to maintain Blissrom for T800 is now building Pac Man. I will have to look into Pac Man and SlimLP for OPO too. I'm currently trying out AICP on the OPO and might try it on the T800 too.
Were you referring to [ROM][T800/T700][5.1.X] Ezio84 SlimLP when you said SlimLP? Do you know if there is an equivalent for the OPO? Would it be this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-slimsaber-bacon-t2858033 ?
